[Bug 1834507] Re: Attempting to load sss.so in Bionic fails due to SMB_IDMAP_INTERFACE_VERSION mismatch

2019-06-27 Thread Andreas Hasenack
Quick test case, to be used in the sru template later on:

sudo apt update
sudo apt install sssd winbind
create this /etc/samba/smb.conf:
[global]
log file = /var/log/samba/log.%m
map to guest = Bad User
max log size = 1000
panic action = /usr/share/samba/panic-action %d
server role = standalone server
server string = %h server (Samba, Ubuntu)
syslog = 0
idmap config * : backend = sss
idmap config * : range = 20-2147483647

sudo systemctl restart winbind
Run this command to trigger the loading of the sss module. It will fail
because, among other reasons, this machine is not part of a domain, but that's
fine:
# wbinfo --allocate-uid
failed to call wbcAllocateUid: WBC_ERR_DOMAIN_NOT_FOUND
Could not allocate a uid

Now /var/log/samba/log.winbindd-idmap will contain:
[2019/06/27 17:45:18.420790, 0]
../source3/winbindd/idmap.c:328(smb_register_idmap)
  Failed to register idmap module.
The module was compiled against SMB_IDMAP_INTERFACE_VERSION 5,
  current SMB_IDMAP_INTERFACE_VERSION is 6.
Please recompile against the current version of samba!
[2019/06/27 17:45:18.421110, 0]
../lib/util/modules.c:173(load_module_absolute_path)
  load_module_absolute_path: Module

[Bug 1777586] Re: Ubuntu Server 18.04 LTS aacraid error

2019-06-27 Thread Patrick Storms
I to want to thank you for your hard work. It is appreciated.

For an update. I was able to get a workaround, which is not ideal and
one that puts my system at risk. The server setup was two drives
mirrored, RAID1, via software RAID. This was for the Operating System
only. I have the Hardware RAID PERC6 Dell Server, RAID 5, with three
drives. This scenario is what precipitated the error messages.

When I removed the software RAID for the O/S and am now running it via a
single SSD drive, the errors went away. I will look to update with the
fix and reimplement the Software RAID and see if this issue is fixed.

Thank you again.

[Bug 1834226] Re: update-notifier doesn't respect "automatically check for updates: Never"

2019-06-27 Thread Erik Sax
In the updates tab, I keep all three boxes checked under "Install
updates from:", because I like to manually run `sudo apt-get update &&
sudo apt-get upgrade` whenever I have a good stable release of software
and feel like stomaching a raft of system changes.

In past versions of ubuntu going back 'Dapper Drake', I'd change the
setting for "automatically check for updates" and it was generally good
about respecting this setting from my recollection. I'm not sure which
release changed this but it's for sure worse, the updater tries to run
in the background, and I've noticed it's easy to repeat as I've
installed 19.04 on various machines. I've got laptops and desktops alike
with 19.04 installed, and they all have this problem. I tried letting it
actually do the updates, but that didn't work so I generally cancel it.

This non-deterministic behavior is nonsensical. When update-notifier
runs, check this flag and quit if it's set to 'Never'. There's really
nothing else to debug, is there?

Thanks for filing this bug in Ubuntu.

While I try to reproduce this, it would speed things up if you had a
sample config that shows the problem. We could then also use this as a

[Bug 1157490] Re: Fullscreen with two monitors

2019-06-27 Thread dreamer_
A bit of necromancy on an old bug report, but in case someone else is
seeing this:

Yes, this is an SDL issue, but DOSBox could instruct SDL to work
correctly.

To *work around* it, you can use environment variable:
SDL_VIDEO_FULLSCREEN_DISPLAY= AND use dosbox settings:
sdl.fullresolution= (do not use
value "desktop"!).

Or you can use steam-dos, which does it automatically:

UPDATE: I've installed Kubuntu 19.10 on a separate drive in the same

options. It doesn't matter if I choose encryption or not, nor lvm or

on UEFI and escaping the splash screen and it complained about the
missing drives while the live image was booting.

This google search shows that this is a common problem of openvpn:
https://www.google.com/search?ei=1uIUXeXTM8_N6ATK_p6gCw=openvpn+Pulled+options+changed+on+restart%2C+will+need+to+close+and+reopen+TUN%2FTAP+device=openvpn+Pulled+options+changed+on+restart%2C+will+need+to+close+and+reopen+TUN%2FTAP+device

I'm aware that my specific problem might be fixed by bugfixes like this:
https://community.openvpn.net/openvpn/ticket/649

But as long as the possibility exists that a change in the pulled
options require an interface reset, the service WILL crash and never
restart without manual user interaction.

This could be fixed by adding "Restart=on-failure" to the openvpn-
client@.service for example.

[Bug 1819086] Re: Ubuntu 19.04: Some gnome-shell extensions no longer work since updating to gnome-shell 3.31/3.32

2019-06-27 Thread Cloudane
Dash to Dock works for me but pretty much nothing else does, including
the apparently "officially supported" classic applications menu.

Intentional breakage eh, nice of the GNOME team to confuse all the users
and provide a super helpful "Error." message long as things are
easier for the devs, what do users matter.

Simple solution I think is going to be to move to KDE.

[Bug 971449] Re: update-apt-xapian-index crashed with ValueError in init(): could not convert string to float

2019-06-27 Thread Thomas Ward
Trusty is End of LIfe and not going to get an update for this.

It is unclear if this crash is able to be reproduced in later versions
of the software/package. If it is, please mark this bug as "Confirmed"
and tag it with the release tested on. Until that time, however, I am
marking this as Incomplete overall, and Won't Fix for Trusty.

[Bug 1424843] Re: Not able to open several menus in gajim

2019-06-27 Thread Leonora Tindall
This very much needs to be fixed and has not been. It's impossible to
enable OMEMO or other plugins, making Gajim pretty much useless.
Screenshots attached; there needs to be a "Plugins" menu _somewhere_ and
there is not. I got bounced from the Gajim repo when I tried to report
this, Ubuntu needs to fix it.

[Bug 1829829] Re: Ubuntu CI has been flaky for a week

2019-06-27 Thread Evgeny Vereshchagin
Good to know! Thank you!

Would it also be possible to mark the "upstream" test
(https://salsa.debian.org/systemd-
team/systemd/blob/master/debian/tests/control#L113) "flaky" or turn it
off altogether? We run it on CentOS and Arch anyway so it should be
safe. On Ubuntu CI it's particularly flaky and I don't think it makes
much sense to keep running it there until some stuff like timeouts isn't
adjusted to VMs on the Ubuntu CI infrastructure. I think at this point
it would make sense to make sure that Ubuntu-specific tests are in good
shape.

I am running Ubuntu 16.04.6 LTS
postfix-policyd-spf-python: Installed: 1.3.2-1

I found this Debian bug report https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-
bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=816850;msg=5 which suggests that the bug is fixed
in version pypolicyd-spf/2.0.0-1 .

Is there a way to get this fixed in Xenial?

Re: [Bug 1834375] Re: Gaia.com videos unsupported

2019-06-27 Thread Robert James
Thanks for the response, Oliver.
Today, the results are different.  There is no error message, but the Gaia
videos will not start.  That is, there is no response to a left click on the
little GUI in the center of the video display image.
Also, I would like to comply with your request but have no clue where to start.

Anxiously, Bob James

Just tested in an up-to-date 18.04 virtual machine, and I can play the
sample videos on gaia.com's home page.

What exactly is not working? Streaming videos maybe? Can you share the
exact error message that you get?

Also, please run the following command in a terminal to attach
additional information to the bug report:

Thanks!

[Bug 1834507] [NEW] Attempting to load sss.so in Bionic fails due to SMB_IDMAP_INTERFACE_VERSION mismatch

2019-06-27 Thread Pedro Principeza
Public bug reported:

When attempting to load the sss.so module, on a Bionic box running
samba-* on 4.7 and sssd-* 1.16.1, one sees the following in syslog:

winbindd[13099]: load_module_absolute_path: Module
'/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/samba/idmap/sss.so' loaded
winbindd[13099]: Failed to register idmap module.
winbindd[13099]: The module was compiled against SMB_IDMAP_INTERFACE_VERSION
5,
winbindd[13099]: current SMB_IDMAP_INTERFACE_VERSION is 6.

This issue has been reported before [1], and apparently it made it into
1.16.2+ version of sssd, but not into 1.16.1, which is shipped with
Bionic.

Is it possible to backport the mentioned fix into 1.16.1/Bionic?

Thanks!
