PandaBoard currently halts but it doesn't power off as apparently noone
is telling the TWL6030 chip to power off. I'd also consider this a bug
that should be fixed.

[Bug 863960] Re: reading IMAP inboxes doesn't work: "no such table: mem.INBOX"

2011-10-03 Thread 10111
Hm, in the meanwhile I switched to Thunderbird again so I can't try it
anymore. But maybe this solves a lot of other people's issue.

When I encountered this problem, I had imported my config from an old
Evolution's backup. Apparently "IMAP+" is the same IMAP but a better
implementation in Evolution. If this is the case, then why does the
import assistant not ask me whether I want to use the new implementation
or the old one? Maybe it could even switch my accounts to the new
implementation anyways without even asking me...

[Bug 863960] [NEW] reading IMAP inboxes doesn't work: "no such table: mem.INBOX"

2011-10-01 Thread 10111
Public bug reported:

Hey there,

I recently installed Ubuntu 11.10 Beta 2; with older Ubuntu versions I
used Evolution for accessing my IMAP4 email accounts, so I installed it
again and restored the settings file I exported from the old Evolution
in Ubuntu 10.04.

There's two bugs that might be connected:

1. Whenever I try to view the inbox I get an error instead: "no such table:
mem.INBOX" So I can't read messages from my inbox but reading from the other
directories works.
2. Not all the directories I have in my IMAP accounts are listed. Refreshing
doesn't help, a lot of directories simply don't show up.

I could not find any workaround for this on Google.

[Bug 606889] Re: fsck "recovers" ext4 data that reappears after reboot

2010-07-19 Thread 10111
I consider this mystical solved, please mark the bug report as invalid.

What happened? I have 2 harddrives, one spare where I sometimes dd-copy
my first harddrive to. I did this the first time after my ubuntu 10.04
install the day before yesterday. With two harddrives being identically,
their UUIDs were so too and bootloader and kernel decided to use the
wrong one (the first time where my data disappeared) and the right one
(the time where my data reappeared). Which one the kernel chose was
quite random and not visible during boot so I didn't realize it was
working on the wrong drive. That's all.

[Bug 606889] [NEW] fsck "recovers" ext4 data that reappears after reboot

2010-07-18 Thread 10111
Public bug reported:

I just had a really strange behavior here that is really hard to
describe and find a summary for:

I bootet my computer, fsck told me my /home's ext4 partition was
corrupt. It ask me whether to recover myself or automatically. I had it
recover automatically. It did so, the desktop bootet and soon I found
out: my pidgin config, my latest firefox bookmarks, my evolution config
was gone / broken. And all the files I had created yesterday were gone,
too. My lost+found folder was filled with gconf xml files and firefox
cache files (flash apples, images, css, ...). I'm not sure whether all
the files broken / gone were there but at least I found some that were
promising (for example my evolution config).

So I copied the lost+found and tried to recover my files. There were
lots of files and after a while I thought: Well, maybe fsck can do
something here for me, let's reboot in single user mode and run fsck
manually on the /home partition.

I did so and fsck said everything was clean. I forced a check, but still
no issues. I was disappointed because I thought I had to recover my lost
files from lost+found myself, so I mounted /home and finished the boot.

And then I found out: Everything was ok again! Nothing is missing, all
files are back where they were! My latest created files, my configs, ...
Everything works fine again! But all the things I have done trying to
recover my "lost" files were undone.

What happend here!? Did anyone have the same bug in the past? Any
explainations? This bug is really really strange!

(I backupped all the /var/log when all the files were back - what do you
need?)

[Bug 551507] Re: Gedit indent (CTRL+T) plugin missing

2010-06-20 Thread 10111
As Jake mentioned, it had become more complicated to intend one single
line, because there the new feature doesn't work so you have to move
your cursor to the beginning and then press tab. This had been easier
with the old solution as it was irrelevant where the cursor was when you
hit CTRL+T. This change isn't really an approvement, it's quite the same
for most cases (with another shortcut) and it became more complicated in
one use case. Why don't people leave code unchanged that works really
good ...

[Bug 522642] [NEW] fsck breaks splash

2010-02-16 Thread 10111
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: usplash

Hi,

I just installed Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic amd64 with / and /home dm-crypt-encrypted.
On boot, the usual splash screen appears, asks for the /-password. Then the
splash breaks and some lines of fsck-output are printed. The splash reappears,
asks for the /home-password and continues the boot process.

Though not critical, this bug is annoying because my monitor goes to
standby from time to time when changing the video mode and thus loosing
the video stream for a short time. This means I sometimes have to turn
my monitor on and off during boot ...

Thank you for your help!

[Bug 502278] [NEW] little suggestion for german translation

2010-01-02 Thread 10111
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: hamster-applet

When clicking on the hamster applet in the panel, a little popup opens.
The german translation says "Tätigkeiten" for the drop down selection
which means "tasks" (I don't know exactly what it's called in the
english translation). Below there are the recordings for today and below
that there are two buttons, one called "Neue Tätigkeit hinzufügen" (add
a new task) and one "Übersicht" (overview).

I think it's confusing as there are two different things entitled with
"Tätigkeit(en)". When clicking on "Neue Tätigkeit hinzufügen", you
cannot add a task you can then select in the drop down selection, but
instead you can manually add a recording for a specific task and period
of time.

My proposal: Change the caption of the button below from "Neue Tätigkeit
hinzufügen" (add a new task) to "Aufzeichnung hinzufügen" (add a
recording). This is what's actually happening and strictly seperates
"Tätigkeit" (task) from "Aufzeichnung" (recording).

[Bug 235945] Re: Rhythmbox gives priority to APEv2 tags and won't display changes to ID3v2 tags

2010-01-01 Thread 10111
Stripping the APEv2-tags from the file solved the issue for me.
Afterwards it was again possible to tag the files and the tags remained

"Here's how it works: the view options (like continuous mode) are "off" in a

If you enable a view option for a particular document, evince remembers that

If you open a different document, the settings for that different document are

[Bug 424996] [NEW] encrypt messages by default using pgp / gpg

2009-09-05 Thread 10111
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

Hi,

It would be nice to have a feature that encrypts messages by default
using pgp / gpg if possible (i.e. if there are keys for the receivers
available on the keyring) as it already exists for S/MIME. Otherwise
people will forget enabling encryption for an email especially if they
have only some accounts they can communicate encrypted with. An
encryption-by-default-if-possible-feature would be easier/more
comfortable to use. And email communication will be even more secure.

Do you think that's possible?

[Bug 421296] [NEW] user_allow_other enabled by default

2009-08-29 Thread 10111
Public bug reported:

I think enabling user_allow_other by default would ease the use of fuse
(especially from a shell) in many cases - for example if you have to run
a program in an sshfs-mounted directory as root.

As there seem no security issues with that to me I propose this here.

[Bug 385375] Re: Purpose of the fuse group

2009-08-29 Thread 10111
I experienced the same behavior yesterday. Is the read-permission only
to members of the fuse-group the only restriction that prohibits users
from using fuse? Usually I'd say fuse.conf should be readable to anyone
as most other config-files in /etc ...

Why are users not placed into the fuse-group anymore?

[Bug 369790] [NEW] pidgin crashes window manager when showing some msn error window

2009-04-30 Thread 10111
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: pidgin

Hi,

Because of some pidgin issue (http://developer.pidgin.im/ticket/8588) my
pidgin shows a window on every startup saying "MSN-Fehler: Benutzernamen
werden zu oft geändert" (name changes to rapidly).

When I do the following steps
- click the pidgin launcher to start pidgin
- work on some other window (firefox, nautilus, ...), so the pidgin contact
list that opens isn't focused but in background
- the msn issue message window opens automatically in background
- focus the msn issue window by clicking on the icon in awn / the button in
panel's window list
my Compiz crashes and Metacity comes up as window manager.

When I start pidgin and focus the contact list window before the msn
issue window pops up, there's no problem at all but everything works
fine.

I attached the compiz crash log to this bug report.

Maybe this issue is somehow related to
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pidgin/+bug/340366 ...

Thanks for your help!

[Bug 355166] Re: "buddy list" is shown in panel on all desktops

I have the same problem here with Ubuntu Jaunty RC!

I talked to some pidgin-guy in the irc, he said that he cannot remember
to have such "new feature", so this seems to be some ubuntu-specific
change maybe together with the new notification system? I disabled the
libnotify-plugin but it didn't help.

Maybe this information is useful to someone?

[Bug 271522] Re: simple-backup-config [sbackup] crashes (seg-fault)

2008-12-08 Thread 10111
The computer's running current hardy sbackup version 0.10.4. Because of
hardy I can't test the intrepid version, but on another pc, sbackup
0.10.5 runs perfectly on intrepid. I think it's not a bug in sbackup
itself (otherwise we would maybe get a python exception) but somewhere
else, maybe in GLib. There could be an error-handling missing and
because of that we get a segfault instead of an exception.

[Bug 139363] Re: "Enter passphrase" for LUKS/cryptsetup breaks usplash

2008-08-23 Thread 10111
No, I propose this as solution for the bug, that the current patch for
this issue isn't working if there's a fsck before. I'd like to know,
whether you (evidently you know better all this usplash stuff than I)
concern this as possible solution or not.

Bug 55159 doesn't appear here. I tried your instructions in comment #6
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/usplash/+bug/55159/comments/6)
but I couldn't see any value I entered.

Having to enter all the passwords the same time in the boot process is
an enhancement I didn't thought about. But I agree with you that this
brings better user experience. Who's "the one" we have to propose moving
the password prompts to the initramfs?

[Bug 139363] Re: "Enter passphrase" for LUKS/cryptsetup breaks usplash

2008-08-22 Thread 10111
Where does this bug with fsck come from? Maybe the file the password is read
from (/dev/.initramfs/usplash_outfifo) isn't empty but filled with the output
of fsck? If so, why can't you just empty it before prompting for the password
and then reading it?
"cat" will block if (as it should be) there's no line or byte to read from the
file. I don't know, if there's any commandline tool to do this properly, but
something like this works:

sudo -s
echo -e "some stupid input just to have something within the file" >
/dev/.initramfs/usplash_outfifo
cat -u /dev/.initramfs/usplash_outfifo

So maybe we can put something like this right before prompting for the
password in order to empty the file the password is read from.

[Bug 139363] Re: "Enter passphrase" for LUKS/cryptsetup breaks usplash

2008-08-21 Thread 10111
Is it right that the patch isn't working if there's a fsck running
before the cryptodisks are started? Cause then something seems to fill
the password input with some strange huge text, so the monitor is full
of stars. Without fsck running before, I have no problems with the
patched file.

[Bug 139363] Re: "Enter passphrase" for LUKS/cryptsetup breaks usplash

2008-08-21 Thread 10111
I have the same issue here. It's really disturbing as I already invested
some hours getting rid of all the other trouble, cryption caused
together with usplash. Maybe there's a way to do the crypt-stuff within
the initramfs too? Just as workaround untill there's a real solution.
