[Bug 1635029] Re: apt-cacher-ng in yakkety lacks distkill.pl
Right, and at least the last part can be automated. Since this is all web stuff, there could be a link on the main control page called like "Update indexes and show distro removal overview". Actually, using a special link for this is something that should exist anyway. Because ATM the expiration thing would abort if the distro has already disappeared from the mirrors and cannot be downloaded. Having a special entry mode for cleanup purposes could bypass this, i.e. continue to the cleanup overview even if an update error happened. I cannot reproduce the part about "Slow Firefox". My PC here is ~7 years old and the cache directory is littered with lots of stuff and still I can use it without any issue in regular FF. https://alioth.debian.org/plugins/scmgit/cgi-bin/gitweb.cgi?p=apt- cacher-ng/apt-cacher- ng.git;a=commitdiff;h=245b9a27c569e7e229446fe808d9a1936bec7551 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1635029 Title: apt-cacher-ng in yakkety lacks distkill.pl To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apt-cacher-ng/+bug/1635029/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1625928] Re: Apt-Cacher can not deliver package, caused by (maybe) special characters in filename
I think it's a bug of Akamai. ACNG does reeencode the URL which was sent back in the intermediate redirect response - however, this is basically legal URL encoding, no magic done there. Simple HTTP clients would use the URL from redirect response as-is and therefore never trigger that condition. Maybe they do some (broken?) verification against the uber-clever pseudo signature that they append there, maybe without considering URL encoding, I am not sure. Needs closer investigation. Or I could a special mode (to be enabled with a switch) which would disable any sanity checks on that URLs. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1625928 Title: Apt-Cacher can not deliver package, caused by (maybe) special characters in filename To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apt-cacher-ng/+bug/1625928/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1589178] Re: RFE: provide a mechanism to delete duplicates after import
Log or didn't happen. Duplication is not uncommon and happens with Debian when a Distro is accessed either via alias ("stable") or via codename of that directory or when a mirror has symlinks and users use different paths in their sources.list . Therefore, the archive analysis code identifies the dupes and synchronizes the data contents as needed (in case where strict-path checking is not enabled, it's not even copied but they are completely skipped since the path doesn't matter and other file's processing would cover the data in another directory too). There only showstopper is a problem with Debian (but not Stable and older) because of dropped SHA1 versions of some data in their indexes. [Bug 1589231] Re: RFD: better handling of the Packages files
Ehm... this is basically what the smart update code has been doing for the most part of the last five years. It has been broken for Debian Sid/Experimental archives since about March of this year, and the version 0.9.3 (available since a about a week) is supposed to solve this. There will be more usability improvements in 0.9.4, coming soon. The main reason for "breakage" was that its main information source is content of InRelease/Release files and archive started boxing out the SHA1 versions of some data which acng used exclusively for data model analysis. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1589231 Title: RFD: better handling of the Packages files To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apt-cacher-ng/+bug/1589231/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Sorry, I just made the same mistake as you did and forgot --fail option. There is no guarantee about return code if --fail is missing, RTFM! They are hardly related. One is a bug of installer (crashing, wtf?) and was actually for apt-cacher (wtf?) and not acng . The other one is something I would like to solve in a more generic approach. Third one is the first one (wtf?). First: Adding an extra package with just one config line sounds ridiculous, sorry. What I could add is a way to accumulate multiple *PatternEx variables so you can just extend the config as you need it. Third: I's still prefer to see a solution which is based on an URL location and does not care about the particular name. [Bug 1548092] [NEW] Fails to fetch packages in proxy-only environment
Public bug reported: Hi, I have a bug report from an Ubuntu user who tries to install with netboot installer in a LAN behind a proxy (i.e. no direct internet access). Source: probably http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/netboot/14.04/ The installation works fine in the first steps, you can switch to expert mode, setup network stuff, select a mirror and specify your local proxy. >From user POV, it looks like the base system is installed and then the kernel questions comes. And when you select one, you get an orange screen saying that there is some general problem. I could not reproduce the problem first. Then I turned off the default- route and voila: the pointless error screen emerged! In fact, the installer apparently hides the bug first - there are download errors occurred before the kernel question comes up. I could see it for a split-second because I was watching the log console. But when the error screen appears, the real error report was already scrolled away from the log console buffer. Now please have a look at the log (see attachment). Looks like there is the port of my proxy (3142), and then an :80 appended, and it tries to resolve this as a hostname. Why? [Bug 1441127] [NEW] Cowardly resets the keyboard layout to US in background
Public bug reported: Description:Ubuntu 14.04.2 LTS Release:14.04 im-config (0.24-1ubuntu4.1) language-selector-selector-gnome (0.129.3) Scenario: I have an XUbuntu LTS 12 installation, upgraded to the latest 14.xx LTS. I don't longer use xfce but icewm. Repro steps and what happened so far: lightdm starts. I choose icewm-session from session selector and login. My keyboard layout is suddenly US. I open a terminal and run setxkbmap de nodeadkeys and it works and is effective, so the xkb support must be OK. Checking Xorg.0.log and getting confused. The reported kbd configuration there is just fine. Dumped xorg.conf with X -configure, adapted the layout, restarted lightdm (and X), problem persists. Removed custom xorg.conf again, restarted X, still the same game. I stop lightdm. Run startx /usr/bin/icewm-session from the console. And the keyboard config is the normal one! (consistent with Xorg.0.log) So I decide to work around that problem for now, I edit .icewm/startup and add the setkxbmap command there (the script is fine, it runs other stuff already). I re-login from lightdm and I still get the same behavior and above. Getting confused... I start to type a bug report against xorg... before sending that, I decide to add sleep 1 to the mentioned startup script before the setxkbmap call. Et voila, problem is gone. How? No idea yet. I decide to test make cross-checks, and use xfce-session and the problem does not appear. However, xfce session has really slow startup (I remember why I stopped using this thing) and I also brings its own keyboard configuration stuff so this will simply cover up the problem. I make another test with wmaker and the problem is reproducible there just like with icewm. I start to suspect some crazy package that installed some Xsession.d extension so I check Xsession.d directory and I remove the packages that I don't need, one by one. The solution to my problem was the removal of im-config: $ sudo apt-get --purge remove im-config ... Entfernen von language-selector-gnome (0.129.3) ... Entfernen von im-config (0.24-1ubuntu4.1) ... So, whatever evil stuff you are doing there, it seems to break the keyboard layout on certain systems, silently and in background. ** Affects: im-config (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1441127 Title: Cowardly resets the keyboard layout to US in background To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/im-config/+bug/1441127/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1437878] Re: RFD: how to deal with recursive folders
Uhm, not sure I want to deal with this very specific issue. I see two options, either hardcode the extra URLs in the mirror list (with 1-2 extra levels). Or add some flag or global option meaning: strip duplicated path components named like xxx. Or maybe even 2.5 options, i.e. make the last one more generic... rewrite the URLs with regular expressions, the way user wants. [Bug 227733] Re: Mirror list is incomplete
Ok, I see. I am not sure whether this can be achieved without collateral damage. That means, the idea of mirrors in a mirrors list is to refer to mirrors with identical contents. Handling partial mirrors is complicated because apt has different interpretations of a 404 Not Found response. [Bug 228929] Re: start script does not work
Hi, There are actually two problems in the start script for ushare. 1. It is launched with --background, so all the logs produced by the process on stdout are lost (or at least I could not find where they were sent to) and you can't see what went wrong when it doesn't start. Instead, the ushare -D command already makes the process run in background, and produces logs in /var/log/syslog. 2. uShare needs the configured network interface to be up and running. In recent Ubuntu distributions, network interfaces are no longer managed in sysV init scripts, but with Upstart. I did not find a nice way to ensure that the network interface was up in the sysV script. So I went for upstart. Attached you will find an upstart script that worked for me (Ubuntu 12.10). If not using eth0 as your network interface you need to change the corresponding line in the script. [Bug 888017] Re: apt-cacher-ng crashes on maint if BAD file found
You are right, I confused something. See http://packages.ubuntu.com/search?keywords=apt-cacher-ng . [Bug 872365] Re: Add a setting to consider lists (for apt-get update) to be fresh for a given period
This feature does already exist, the current consider rotten after X seconds value is hardcoded to 27 seconds. I just need to assign an option name to the config parser. [Bug 872365] Re: Add a setting to consider lists (for apt-get update) to be fresh for a given period
Yes, it was about MAXTEMPDELAY (it's already converted to acfg::maxtempdelay in my local branch). Selecting an option name is always complicated, it should not contain expir or rott to avoid further confusion. [Bug 649009] Re: apt-cacher-ng crashed with SIGSEGV in malloc()
Ok, checked again, the previous assumption was a bad guess. The problem is, it looks like heap corruption but it can have happened a while before the actually crash. Maybe the tester could export MALLOC_CHECK_=2 in the startup environment so the heap corruption detection is executed. But honestly, I would only test the last version because 0.5.6 has been released a year ago and in the meantime, there were bugfixes all around this place. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/649009 Title: apt-cacher-ng crashed with SIGSEGV in malloc() To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apt-cacher-ng/+bug/649009/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 649009] Re: apt-cacher-ng crashed with SIGSEGV in malloc()
Right, init script is a good location. See https://www.gnu.org/s/libc/manual/html_node/Heap-Consistency-Checking.html#Heap-Consistency-Checking for details about the variable. The mentioned method would call abort() which creates a core dump. I don't know exactly how apport works but assuming that it configures kernel for auto-dumping to a certain directory then it would pick up that core dump there.

[Bug 789527] [NEW] nm-applet sometimes removes VPN menu after suspend/resume
