[Bug 1175123] [NEW] Media key events duplicated or ignored
Public bug reported: I loaded rhythmbox by clicking its name in the sound menu, and press my multimedia keyboard play/pause button - this works fine and a song starts playing. Pressing the play/pause button a second time also works as expected, pausing the track. However, pressing play/pause a third time doesn't start the song again, but either: 1. does nothing, and the whole rhythmbox interface becomes unresponsive, 2. starts the song again, but starts another song as well - two songs playing at the same time (or possibly the same song at different positions in the song) 3. Skips several tracks, before maybe playing one. Possible relevant segment of `rhythmbox -d` output when play/pause not restarting song: (11:23:35) [0x7f5ccc004530] [get_times_and_stream] rb-player-gst-xfade.c:2641: not playing (11:23:35) [0x7f5ccc004530] [rb_statusbar_sync_status] rb-statusbar.c:467: updating status with: '0 songs', '', -1.00 (11:23:35) [0x7f5ccc004530] [get_times_and_stream] rb-player-gst-xfade.c:2641: not playing (11:23:35) [0x7f5ccc004530] [rb_statusbar_sync_status] rb-statusbar.c:467: updating status with: '0 songs', '', -1.00 (11:23:35) [0x7f5ccc004530] [get_times_and_stream] rb-player-gst-xfade.c:2641: not playing (11:23:35) [0x7f5ccc004530] [rb_statusbar_sync_status] rb-statusbar.c:467: updating status with: '0 songs', '', -1.00 (11:23:35) [0x7f5ccc004530] [get_times_and_stream] rb-player-gst-xfade.c:2641: not playing (11:23:36) [0x7f5ccc004530] [media_player_key_pressed] rb-mmkeys-plugin.c:110: got media key 'Play' for application 'Rhythmbox' (11:23:36) [0x7f5ccc004530] [rb_shell_player_playpause] rb-shell-player.c:2367: doing playpause (11:23:36) [0x7f5ccc004530] [rb_player_gst_xfade_play] rb-player-gst-xfade.c:3461: playing stream file:///home/balchd/Music/a/Aphex%20Twin/I%20Care%20Because%20You%20Do/10%20-%20Alberto%20Balsalm.ogg, play type 0, crossfade 0 (11:23:36) [0x7f5ccc004530] [rb_player_gst_xfade_play] rb-player-gst-xfade.c:3499: stream file:///home/balchd/Music/a/Aphex%20Twin/I%20Care%20Because%20You%20Do/10%20-%20Alberto%20Balsalm.ogg is already playing (11:23:36) [0x7f5ccc004530] [rb_shell_player_sync_with_source] rb-shell-player.c:2948: playing source: 0x10a8140, active entry: 0x7f5cb8938c40 (11:23:36) [0x7f5ccc004530] [get_times_and_stream] rb-player-gst-xfade.c:2641: not playing (11:23:36) [0x7f5ccc004530] [rb_shell_player_sync_buttons] rb-shell-player.c:3039: syncing with source 0x10a8140 (11:23:36) [0x7f5ccc004530] [playing_changed_cb] rb-mpris-plugin.c:1190: emitting PlaybackStatus change (11:23:36) [0x7f5ccc004530] [rb_shell_player_sync_with_source] rb-shell-player.c:2948: playing source: 0x10a8140, active entry: 0x7f5cb8938c40 (11:23:36) [0x7f5ccc004530] [get_times_and_stream] rb-player-gst-xfade.c:2641: not playing (11:23:36) [0x7f5ccc004530] [rb_shell_player_sync_buttons] rb-shell-player.c:3039: syncing with source 0x10a8140 (11:23:36) [0x7f5ccc004530] [get_times_and_stream] rb-player-gst-xfade.c:2641: not playing (11:23:36) [0x7f5ccc004530] [rb_statusbar_sync_status] rb-statusbar.c:467: updating status with: '0 songs', '', -1.00 (11:23:36) [0x7f5ccc004530] [get_times_and_stream] rb-player-gst-xfade.c:2641: not playing (11:23:36) [0x7f5ccc004530] [rb_statusbar_sync_status] rb-statusbar.c:467: updating status with: '0 songs', '', -1.00 ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 13.04 Package: rhythmbox 2.98-0ubuntu5 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.8.0-19.29-generic 3.8.8 Uname: Linux 3.8.0-19-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.9.2-0ubuntu8 Architecture: amd64 Date: Wed May 1 11:03:56 2013 InstallationDate: Installed on 2012-05-08 (357 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 12.04 LTS "Precise Pangolin" - Release amd64 (20120425) MarkForUpload: True SourcePackage: rhythmbox UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to raring on 2013-04-25 (5 days ago) ** Affects: rhythmbox (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug raring ** Attachment added: "Full rhythmbox-d` output" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1175123/+attachment/3661368/+files/rhythmbox.log -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1175123 Title: Media key events duplicated or ignored To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/rhythmbox/+bug/1175123/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 820375] Re: Lockup when switching video modes
I'm pretty sure it always happens on the fourth press (a fifth press should return to the initial state), when going from laptop screen on and external off to both screens off. If I find it happens at a different point, I'll come back and say. The crash doesn't always happen, so sometimes I can cycle through all the states several times before it will crash. The attached file shows the output of xrandr before pressing super+p, and for each of the 5 presses it takes to get back to the original state with both screens on at full resolution (when it works). ** Attachment added: "xrandr output through super+p states" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/820375/+attachment/2252285/+files/super-p.log -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/820375 Title: Lockup when switching video modes To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/820375/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 820375] [NEW] Lockup when switching video modes
Public bug reported: With the mapping of Super+P to video mode(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-settings- daemon/+bug/694910) I have unintentionally switched video modes several times and, whilst cycling through the modes to get back to my original setting, the system crashes, being unresponsive over a pre-existing ssh connection, with audio playback looping over the last couple of seconds of playback, and no reaction to keyboard input - except for holding down the power button for several seconds. Now I think about it, I haven't tried the sysreq magic yet - I will do on the next one - but the crash exists, and I can reproduce by cycling video modes with Super+p. [Bug 625076] Re: checkbox fails to verify ssl validity in data exchange with launchpad.net
You know what, this bug isn't fixed. You clearly didn't test it. As per http://bugs.python.org/issue1589 you are vulnerable. Test it your self using the test I put above again... all that is different is that now don't follow the redirect to a http:// location from what i can see. So your application is still vulnerable, as long as I have a certificate signed by ca in the ca store, I can MITM checkbox. Please test your patches before saying they fix things and EVEN better add a test to check it has been fixed. Please let me know if I am wrong :) ** Bug watch added: Python Roundup #1589 http://bugs.python.org/issue1589 -- checkbox fails to verify ssl validity in data exchange with launchpad.net https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/625076 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 625076] [NEW] checkbox fails to verify ssl validity in data exchange with launchpad.net
*** This bug is a security vulnerability *** Public security bug reported: Binary package hint: checkbox Checkbox collects personal and private system data and sends it to launchpad.net. However, it fails to verify that the ssl certificate for launchpad.net is valid. Here is the relevant code. plugins/launchpad_exchange.py uses HTTPTransport from checkbox/lib/transport.py, which uses httplib.HTTPSConnection by default. This is not secure as per the documentation at http://docs.python.org/library/httplib.html#httplib.HTTPSConnection However, If the user is using a https proxy(really unlikely), then the code (connection = ProxyHTTPSConnection(host, port)) will use the ProxyHTTPSConnection connection which does -> class ProxyHTTPSConnection(ProxyHTTPConnection): default_port = httplib.HTTPS_PORT def __init__(self, host, port=None, key_file=None, cert_file=None, strict=None): ProxyHTTPConnection.__init__(self, host, port) self.key_file = key_file self.cert_file = cert_file def connect(self): ProxyHTTPConnection.connect(self) self.sock = _ssl_wrap_socket(self.sock, self.key_file, self.cert_file) So it would use _ssl_wrap_socket which is defined at the top as # Build the appropriate socket wrapper for ssl try: # Python 2.6 introduced a better ssl package import ssl _ssl_wrap_socket = ssl.wrap_socket except ImportError: # Python versions prior to 2.6 don't have ssl and ssl.wrap_socket instead # they use httplib.FakeSocket def _ssl_wrap_socket(sock, key_file, cert_file): ssl_sock = socket.ssl(sock, key_file, cert_file) return httplib.FakeSocket(sock, ssl_sock) However, as the code has connection = ProxyHTTPSConnection(host, port) --> when it is going to use the ProxyHTTPSConnection class, the certificate information will be None here and therefore this code (from what I see) will not make the data transfer between checkbox and launchpad.net secure via the https proxy. You can test this out by editing /etc/hosts and pointing launchpad.net to another ip (which has an https server running) and viewing the data exchange in wireshark. ** Affects: checkbox (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Visibility changed to: Public ** This bug is no longer flagged as a security vulnerability ** This bug has been flagged as a security vulnerability -- checkbox fails to verify ssl validity in data exchange with launchpad.net https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/625076 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Surely Triaged is the correct status for Ubuntu's Evolution package. With `cheese --gst-debug-level=2` I get the following warnings: 0:00:05.245175219 2035 0x957c068 WARN bin gstbin.c:2312:gst_bin_do_latency_func: failed to query latency 0:00:07.836997826 2035 0x963fb10 WARN basetransform gstbasetransform.c:1047:gst_base_transform_acceptcaps: transform could not transform video/x-raw-yuv, format=(fourcc)I420, width=(int)160, height=(int)120, framerate=(fraction)30/1, pixel-aspect-ratio=(fraction)1/1 in anything we support 0:00:08.432900585 2035 0x963fb10 WARN basetransform gstbasetransform.c:1047:gst_base_transform_acceptcaps: transform could not transform video/x-raw-yuv, format=(fourcc)I420, width=(int)160, height=(int)120, framerate=(fraction)30/1, pixel-aspect-ratio=(fraction)1/1 in anything we support 0:00:08.528301133 2035 0x9625e40 WARN basetransform gstbasetransform.c:1047:gst_base_transform_acceptcaps: transform could not transform video/x-raw-rgb, bpp=(int)32, depth=(int)24, endianness=(int)4321, red_mask=(int)65280, green_mask=(int)16711680, blue_mask=(int)-16777216, width=(int)160, height=(int)120, framerate=(fraction)30/1, pixel-aspect-ratio=(fraction)1/1 in anything we support ...and the same warning appears at different frame sizes. [Bug 516051] Re: gst-launch cannot connect to gspca webcam
Ok, after looking around some more, I find that `gst-launch v4l2src ! ffmpegcolorspace ! xvimagesink` doesn't work because the video chipset and/or driver doesn't support xvideo. Running `gst-launch v4l2src ! ffmpegcolorspace ! ximagesink` (i.e. using ximagesink instead of xvimagesink) shows the webcam as expected. This suggests to me that it's not a gstreamer problem (as I first thought), but a pipeline setup problem in the applications (Cheese, mousetrap) - where do I look to establish how the pipelines are created? -- gst-launch cannot connect to gspca webcam https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/516051 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 522142] [NEW] Unable to configure Cacti database on install (no MySQL root password)
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: cacti Short version: The Cacti install should set up the database by prompting the user for database and database user information, rather than a) requiring them to research/already know about dbconfig-common, and b) fail to install the database because of not asking for the MySQL root password. Long version: I ran `sudo apt-get install cacti` and the system installed MySQL (with root password prompt) and other dependencies, but when it gets to configuring cacti, I get an error "No database user specified.". To continue, I'm given a choice of: abort retry retry (skip questions) ignore Via Google I figure out that I need to set some database connection information in /etc/dbconfig-common/cacti.conf, so I add values for, database user, database user password, database name, and database admin. I'm puzzled that there's no mention of the database admin password, but I'll try and carry on. I get no obvious Google hits around ucf, root, and password. I re-read /usr/share/doc/cacti/README.Debian.gz, which says configuration dbconfig-common should be automatic. Retrying the database installation step, I now get the error: "ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: NO)" Obviously dbconfig-common is not getting into MySQL without a password, and is not asking me for the password. Maybe I'm missing some "commonly known" approach to setting it up, but there's nothing in the processes telling me how to get the automatic install to work. In the end I chose "abort", and created the database manually, as described in /usr/share/doc/cacti/README.Debian.gz. It took a bit of fiddling, but it seems to be running now. [Bug 299330] Re: Alt+Tab - switching applications delay. slow
FWIW, this essentially makes ALT+TAB with Compiz unusable for me. I have to take a hand off the keyboard to focus the other window with the mouse instead. Possibly related: When typing monitor break kicks in with a break, there's a delay of 3 seconds between input being frozen and the countdown appearing (the counter appears saying 2:57). -- Alt+Tab - switching applications delay. slow https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/299330 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 299330] Re: Alt+Tab - switching applications delay. slow
For me, with compiz enabled, there's variably between ~0.3 and 1.5 seconds delay before the switcher with previews appears. It seems like more windows to be switched through results in a longer delay. Without compiz (and no previews) the switcher appears immediately. Notification also misplaced for Hamster time tracker. I suspect that this occurs with all notifications not triggered by a user. [Bug 370380] Re: Dualheadsetup - invalid notification position
I have a similar problem: Song change notifications from Rhythmbox, and new mail from Evolution, appear too far down the screen - as if it's below a non-existent notification. [Bug 279062] Re: evolution-alarm-notify crashed with SIGSEGV in g_str_hash()
Maybe I'm missing something, but I can't see in these bug reports that any fix has been released.
