[Bug 1497871] Re: SIP auth fails with gcc 5.x build

2015-10-05 Thread Elv13
Hello,

I am/was the maintainer of sflphone-kde. Sorry to hear it doesn't work
anymore. If you use Ubuntu 15.04+, there is a KDE5/KF5 successor called
"Ring-KDE". The support for some SIP provider is still a little buggy,
but bug reports are accepted and should get fixed. My estimate is a that
it work with about 60% of providers that worked with SFLphone-KDE. The
UI is mostly the same (for KDE, Gnome has a new one closer to the KDE
one). Here are the links to the source code:

git clone https://el...@gerrit-ring.savoirfairelinux.com/ring-daemon # Daemon
git clone https://el...@gerrit-ring.savoirfairelinux.com/ring-lrc # Shared
client code by the Gnome/KDE/OSX/Windows clients
git clone http://anongit.kde.org/ring-kde # The KDE client

The vendor hosting SFLphone has closed the project and no longer accept
fixes/contributions. I would fix the issues with GCC5 and the newer
versions of pjprojects, but I really have nowhere to push the code to.
On top of that, the Ring project is probably more future proof than the
sflphone pile of dubious (but mature and field-tested) code.

[Bug 1360048] [NEW] The "Go back" and "Continue" buttons do nothing when a partition is not correctly unmounted

2014-08-21 Thread Elv13
Public bug reported:

Step to reproduce:

1) mount a drive using the terminal, start to copy files on it
2) Install Ubuntu
3) When the parted dialog show and ask to unmount all drive, say "no"
4) Select the root partition and set "/"
5) It complain again for no valid reasons (ext4 -> ext4 for the same partition
should _not_ change the partition table)
6) The timezone dialog show even if there was a "fatal" error.
7) A dialog ask to either force unmount or go back. Neither work

7.a) The "Go back" button does absolutly nothing
7.b) The "Continue" button start the installation, but it get stuck forever on
"Detecting drives"

While this may not be the most common installation scenario, this bug
prevent Ubuntu from being installed and Ubiquity have to be X-killed.

[Bug 1302274] Re: Install, Connect Wireless, 'connect' button does not work

2014-08-21 Thread Elv13
I think this bug should have an higher priority as it make the
installation experience frustrating for new users. While the unity top-
bar systray nm-applet icon work as expected, some users may face a wall.
This should be made a blocker for Ubuntu 14.04.2

2014-08-05 Thread Elv13
This bug was fixed upstream. We don't plan to backport the fix at this
point. We may try to push 1.4.1 or 1.4.2 as stable update for 14.04
later this year, after the Ubuntu 14.10 is out. SFLphone 1.4.* is an LTS
release, 1.3.0 is not. We want to see how well 1.4.0 will behave in the
real world, fix whatever errors.ubuntu.com report, then push a stable
update.

[Bug 1316612] Re: SFLPhone-KDE will freeze if an Akonadi request deadlock

2014-05-21 Thread Elv13
Hello, thanks for taking a look

An automated test case is not possible (as it will freeze instead of
failing) so here is a manual one:

1) Add some "vcard" contacts in KAddressbook (necessary)
2) Import a gmail contact list in KAddressbook (necessary)
3) Open the old sflphone-kde client
4) It will freeze
5) Install the new package
6) Enjoy this softphone!

Users alreayd tested the .deb above. The only difference is that it is
based upon the stable PPA rather than the upsteam (debian) sflphone
daemon package. Other than that the package is identical. So it is up to
you, we can wait for more tests, but it most probably wont change
anything at this point. We also reproduced the issue internally at
Savoir-faire Linux when my colleagues upgraded to 14.04 and they are
happy with the fix ever since.

This bug is not in our code. We managed to reproduce it in Ubuntu, but
it seem to have been fixed upstream (pulse).

[Bug 1316612] [NEW] SFLPhone-KDE will freeze if an Akonadi request deadlock

2014-05-06 Thread Elv13
Public bug reported:

Hello

I am the SFLPhone-KDE main developer and maintainer. So users report
that the app freeze when loading certain Akonadi collections. After some
work, I reproduced the issue. It is caused by an upstream (akonadi) bug,
but the API I use for the call is not safe (the synchronous API). While
it worked fine for years, this was never a good idea and now the users
have to pay the price. I will attach a patch to replace the call by its
asynchronous equivalent. I have also contacted the Akonadi team to see
if the upstream bug can be fixed.

Original bug report:
https://projects.savoirfairelinux.com/issues/46029

Package used for user testing:
https://projects.savoirfairelinux.com/attachments/download/11537/sflphone-client-kde_1.1.0-rc20120607~ppa1~SYSTEM_amd64.deb
(it is 1.3.0, I forgot to update my emergency package script)

Patch testing:
* myself
* https://projects.savoirfairelinux.com/issues/46029#note-10

** Affects: sflphone (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

** Patch added: "Fix this bug"

[Bug 567407] [NEW] [Lucid] (theme) The calendar and world clock should be dark , not bright

2010-04-20 Thread Elv13
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

Every gnome-panel drop down menu are dark coloured, except one, the
world-clock/calendar. I understand it is not a context menu and it is
why it is bright, but for consistency, it should match the gnome-panel
colour palette.

The computer is a first generation Pentium 4 1.6 ghz and should be supported by

[Bug 199526] Re: 7.10 Gutsy, NR_CPUS too small on 32bit serrver kernel

2009-08-06 Thread Elv13
It is not fixed, the max CPU is still 8 on 9.04 linux-images-server, you have
to add
CONFIG_X86_BIGSMP=y

and 2 or 3 other in kernel config to fix this bug, just changing the
number will NOT work. It is not the only reason why it is blocked to 8
core.

I work on similar HP workstation and confirm this problem with an up to
date Ubuntu 9.04.

[Bug 287325] Re: NR_CPUS=64 but kernel skipping CPUs above 8 with msg about CONFIG_X86_BIGSMP

2009-08-05 Thread Elv13
This is not always possible, my client have heavy custom debian
repository full of packages coming from different source. Some are
proprietary and some desktop computer does not support 64bit. The
repository will stay 32bit for at least an other 5 years. A 8 thread
limit is too low even for newer workstation with 2 Quad core (Xeon) * 2
(hyper threading). This limit need to be raised to 32 or 64, we don't
talk about server here, but every day workstations. This bug can't be a
Wont-Fix, other distributions like Red-Hat offer bigSMP kernel.

[Bug 211815] [NEW] Wrong resolution detection on ViewSonic G75f

2008-04-04 Thread Elv13
Public bug reported:

Type: Crt monitor
Model: ViewSonic G75f
Graphic card: Nvidia GeForce 6100 (on board)
Standard resolution: 1024x768
Maximum detected by: Ubuntu 800x600
Bug since: 6.10 (was working fine with earlier versions)

Comment: Everything look too big for this screen, usage as a learning
tool in this computer science lab (85 of those monitor) is almost
impracticable. We still use 6.06LTS release but want to upgrade. Is it
possible to disable the maximum resolution for this monitor. It will be
by default 1800 by ? (maximal resolution of the GeForce 6100 card) but
it will be better than 800x600 because we will be able to adjust the
resolution. It is possible after installing few packages and tweak
xorg.conf to use 1024x768, but for a student, new to Linux, these tweak
are not easy nor helping them to adopt Ubuntu as their primary operating
system.

What i think is the problem and a way to fix it:
The latest flash version is based on GTK and it is not yet very stable, just
use an older version and wait until the next release to use the GTK/flash
plugin, it is too unstable for now. All older version of flash9 for linux will
not have the problem.
