[Bug 1879633] Re: Killer 500s (QCA6390) WLAN/BT [17cb:1101] unavailable

2021-01-31 Thread Leonard Broman
@andch

Thanks for reporting this progress so us 9310 owners can solve this
eventually!

I tried this but got only minor progress. Update to 1.2.5 firmware as
you advised.

Installed kernel 5.10.12 with mainline but can only see wifi list
(better than before) but not connect. Bluetooth is not working either.

Also tried
5.6.0-1036-oem
5.6.0-1042-oem
Both locks up on the login screen and forces me to do 4 second hard power down.

I could not find the package you mentioned, which PPA did you get this
kernel so I can try it out?

2020-12-19 Thread Leonard Broman
Sorry, couldn't find the 2005 kernel in proposed so I don't know what
got to my mind, but I pulled the firmware and kernel from your PPA this
time.

Kernel:

[Bug 1313436] Re: Unity/Compiz very slow after resume from suspend

2017-02-24 Thread Leonard Broman
Yes. I assumed it was unrelated to Unity but couldn't find a better bug
report tracking this in launchpad. I have a skylake processor and they
mention this in the patchwork thread that the issue is appearing in
skylake as well. I'll check to see if there are BIOS updates incoming to
my laptop.

This issue just started reappearing since about one week back on my XPS

However, this fixes it:

2016-05-11 Thread Leonard Broman
I'm really sorry I did not get a notification when you posted your
comment.

Anyway, the issues seems to have been resolved and then reappeared on my
machine since.

Update to kernel version 4.4.0-21-generic fixed the issue. But the next
update to 4.4.0-22-generic broke it once again. I will test with the 4.6
series kernel, I'll report back when I have.

[Bug 460312] Re: Karmic cannot access harddrive partitions

2009-11-24 Thread Leonard Broman
I solved my issues by removing the raid configuration from my disks in
the ICHR utility.

In Jaunty, the drives where available as independent drives dispite the raid,
which is not the case in Karmic.
After the raid was removed, both disks are recognized by karmic as expected.

This seems more like a difference in how Karmic handles raid setups
compared to Jaunty and is not a bug. I will not investigate this any
deeper but will happily answer questions about my findings so far.

[Bug 460312] [NEW] Karmic cannot access harddrive partitions

2009-10-25 Thread Leonard Broman
Public bug reported:

I tried upgrading to Karmic RC after it had been release from a Jaunty
installation. The installation failed and left the system unbootable after the
boot-scripts in busybox was unable to mount the root partition.

Running the Karmic RC live CD I have now discovered that Karmic cannot
read the partitions on my harddrives. The drives are available as
/dev/sd[a,b] and cfdisk can read the partition table properly, the
partitions however are not available as devices under /dev.

[Bug 398214] Re: Karmic Koala stopps dead after /scripts/init-bottom

2009-10-23 Thread Leonard Broman
I just tried to upgrade to the RC and I got a similar problem. My disks
do not mount anymore. The system seems to recognise my disks but not the
partitions anymore. I'm left at the busybox console and there are no
drives under /dev/disks/by-uuid/. Maybe theres a more specific bug for
my case if anyones seen it?

Unfortunately I'm away until tomorrow, but if this is a problem with the
release candidate as well, I think it's quite alarming.

Is anyone prepared to escalate this issue?

Re: [Bug 278259] Re: [i945] Intrepid ibex does not configure intel 945 properly

2008-12-20 Thread Leonard Broman
I tried reproducing the bug using the Jaunty Alpha-2 live cd.

I can report a few interesting findings.

Startup (initial) configuration works fine. It properly detects both
monitors and configures them as mirror where the image is cropped on
the smaller (wide-screen) monitor. This is expected behaviour to me.

Reconfiguration of monitors shows detection works fine. All modes are
properly detected and configurable (at this point) in the utility.

Now, when I configure the two screens side-by-side and apply settings
I get a message that xorg.conf must be modified and I must relogin.
After relogin the system freezes (hard) at random point while the
desktop is loading. I have tried this with the latest updates, no
change. Perhaps this issue should be reported elsewhere?

2008-10-19 Thread Leonard Broman
I'm reopening this bug as I have more info on it.

I discovered that the error occurs when my tv-set is connected on
startup. The external screen has an odd resolution of 1280x768 which is
not supported by the internal display. The graphics card does not allow
a virtal size enough for the two screens and ubuntu sets the screen mode
to mirror and picks the resolution 1024x768, probably the largest common
resolution. When mirroring, this cannot be changed, which is a greater
issue. It however works perfectly on hardy, where the external screen
just looses a few pixel on the top and bottom of the image.

The next error occurs when I disconnect the external screen and change
the resolution to normal. The screen gets a black area to the right
where the mouse pointer can go, but not the gnome-panel. Maximizing
windows aligns them with the edge of the to the black area.

[Bug 158453] Re: [compiz] System bell causes blur to lose acceleration

2008-10-19 Thread Leonard Broman
I've tested it on Intrepid, using the live CD and upgrading the system
with the latest updates.

I couldn't find the system-bell-blur config this time so I tried
reproducing it using blur window and motion blur instead. I tried
reproducing twice. First it bugged out right away, second time I had too
fiddle a while for it to happen. Motion blur does not pose too much
problem, but window blur, when it kicks in, is much worse than before.
All changes in graphics lead to black areas with a few bright pixels in
them. Restarting X (the hard way) does not disable the configuration and
I can't figure out how to disable it afterwards since the graphical
interface is rendered unusable. Beware of wrecked systems here!!!

[Bug 157878] Re: Mouse cursor jumps after closing and opening laptop lid

2008-10-04 Thread Leonard Broman
Ok. I'm opening up this bug again right away.

The behaviour when this happens has changed over time, probably with
updates, but I have not been able to find when it happend. Now, my mouse
is not jumping around anymore, it is just flickering for about 5 seconds
(2-3 flicks per second) efter opening the lid. Also, the gnome panels (I
have one above and one under the desktop) flickers!

I am running Hardy, upgraded install, with the latest updates. I also
tried this from the 8.10 beta live CD and it has the same symptoms.

[Bug 278259] [NEW] Intrepid ibex does not configure intel 945 properly

2008-10-04 Thread Leonard Broman
Public bug reported:

Running from the intrepid ibex live cd, the intel 945GM graphics card is
not correctly configured. The machine starts up in 1024x768 screen
resolution (should be 1280x768 by default on this screen).

The configurator gui only offers 640x480, 800x600 and 1024x768.

The gl animation effects leaves image traces on the screen, which
disappear when windows are highlighted later on.

[Bug 190506] Re: [Hardy] GNOME and GDM are starting up with wrong display resolution

2008-04-20 Thread Leonard Broman
Have you added your screen configuration to xorg.conf manually?
Try running sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg again, this may remove
you external screen configuration and let xorg handle it on-the-fly in a better
way. (it will backup your xorg.conf so dont worry).

[Bug 158453] Re: [compiz] System bell causes blur to lose acceleration

2008-03-09 Thread Leonard Broman
Sorry for my hasty response. I found how to install it...

This is now for alpha6, the problem persists.
I also discovered the following:

If enabling motion blur, the starting it (default ctrl+F12) it has the
same symptom. However, disabling the plugin will cause the system to
regain speed and it might therefore seem like my graphics card is
lacking acceleration for whatever blur uses.

This is however not the case with the system bell, it needs an X
restart.

[Bug 150169] Re: Random keyboard input loss

2007-10-29 Thread Leonard Broman
This seems to be related to window shadows in compiz. I have ran into
two situations. Playing with the shadow radius (in compizconfigmanager)
causes the crash described, music also stops.

Playing with any other shadow settings causes an effect which can be
described as loss of opengl acceleration, everything goes really slow,
but the effects are still working.

Randomly during use the computer stops responding to certain user input.

mouse pointer is still moving. No X actions (like compiz exposé) work
either. The only solution when it happens is to hard reboot with 4second

[Bug 150169] Re: Random keyboard input loss

2007-10-11 Thread Leonard Broman
I have now been able to pinpoint what causes this.

Visiting this site:
http://www.tictac.rennes.fr/Horaires.php?Date=2/9/2007OrganismeID=70TypeAccueilID=52Cle=PeriodeIDID=9905

in firefox and trying to drag on the .js field with the timeline puts
the system into the named state. It is thus not related to the bug i
mentioned.

[Bug 150165] Computer cuts io on screen blank

2007-10-07 Thread Leonard Broman
Public bug reported:

This concerns a dell XPS M1210.

When I close the lid, the screen blanks ( as configured by me ). However
it never turns on again when I open it. Also the computer does not
respond to to keyboard or mouse input but it continues to run and other
activity does not hang. It is as if the input is blocked due to the
computer does not realize the lid is open again.

Only solution to regain io is to turn of the computer by the 4-second
power-button manouver.

[Bug 150169] Random keyboard input loss

2007-10-07 Thread Leonard Broman
Public bug reported:

This might be related to #150165 but hard to tell because in that case
the screen is blank.

Randomly during use the computer stops responding to certain user input.
The keyboard and mouse (touchpad) buttons stop working, however the
mouse pointer is still moving. No X actions (like compiz exposé) work
either. The only solution when it happens is to hard reboot with 4second
on power button.

This bug has started occuring the last weeks, and happen randomly about
once a day. I am running Gutsy.

[Bug 78992] Re: Logitech QuickCam for Notebooks, could not query capabilities.

2007-08-02 Thread Leonard Broman
I have a similar problem. In my case, the quickcam module is not loaded
on boot. The device is created /dev/video0 but doesn't work. After
loading quickcam manually, it works.

I'm running Gutsy.

[Bug 125482] Re: External programme calls broken

2007-07-12 Thread Leonard Broman
This seems to be a general error in calling menus in gnome for the
moment. Haven't found the global report for this though. Where to report
it?

[Bug 113012] keytool is not compatible with sun-java5 keytool

2007-05-07 Thread Leonard Broman
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: java-gcj-compat

The keytool shipped with java-gcj-compat is not compatible with the non-
free from sun-java5. The simple step for generating a and selfsigning is
not working at least.

Reproduce by:
keytool -genkey
keytool -selfcert

Keytool then reports an error and destroys the ~/.keystore
