[Bug 810198] Re: [dash] background is not transparent when using Qt with OpenGLES

2011-09-16 Thread Lucazade
@thanks Alberto for the info, hope i'm not OT in this bugreport..
I've tried to restart session and to enable this opengl option on a couple of
different machines but I can't see any difference in term of speed, also
launcher and dash are not trasparent if I don't enable metacity compositor.
I believed opengl accel should give both speed boost and trasparency like a
compositor, am I wrong? if necessary I can open a separate bug.

[Bug 804435] Re: Wallpaper is loaded twice with different alignment by gnome-session and nautilus (Oneiric)

2011-09-05 Thread Lucazade
@Alberto
left margin seems small, just few pixels.. anyway it is not the only movement
and stretch of wallpaper.
I made a video to explain the issue better, it is a bit slow becuase it is in a
virtualmachine, from 0:36 to the end is relevant.

Florian told me a couple of days ago on irc that these issues are different,
sincerly things are not so clear for me.
if you need anything else, i'm here!

2011-09-05 Thread Lucazade
@Alberto
the big grey band on the left is visible only when metacity compositor is
disabled.
(I usually disable it with low powered machines, like virtualbox and my intel
gma500, because composite kill some performances, like scrolling in web
browsers!)

instead the small grey band seems 15px wide

enabling comoposite things behave differently so i made another video

[Bug 841636] [NEW] Bad 3D performances in Oneiric compared to Natty

2011-09-05 Thread Lucazade
Public bug reported:

I get low frames per second using glxgears, the half of what I got with Natty
and previous releases.
This behaviour is common for different graphics card (tested on Nvidia 250Gts,
Ati radeon 7500 and Intel Gma500) so it seems not strictly related to video
drivers but probably to some opengl libs (just guessing, please correct if I'm
wrong).

I know that glxgears is not a good benchmark tool but usually results are the
same in every Ubuntu release and now in Oneiric are really different.
I looked at glxgears because I felt that compiz and unity-3d are slower than in
Natty, noticeable slower :)

attached two screenshots of glxgears in natty and oneiric with a
nvidia250gts 1gb.. if needed I could provide for different gfx cards.

(I hope it is not a real regression but a false positive, or something,
because otherwise it could be really bad if oneiric is released with
this issue)

regards

anyway in the latest build of unity-2d from bzr the indicator-power is visible,
only a little issue:
the battery icon is badly scaled in both panel and in the menu itself.. quite

[Bug 808849] Re: Bold fonts everywhere in the UI (dash, launcher, workspace switcher) but in the panel

2011-08-03 Thread Lucazade
@Florian
Yes, not fixed, you're right.
Yesterday didrocks made me notice the issue is still present in the other parts
of the UI.
It is true in the panel the issue is no more present (at least in appmenu and
indicators) but it happens a strange thing after I use synaptic, the window
title in the panel switch from the normal font to a bigger one in Arial-like
style. Is it a known issue? If you need a make a sshot, it is always
reproducible.

[Bug 814581] Re: Gnome terminal's tabs are too long

2011-08-01 Thread Lucazade
what is wrong?
current implementation of gnome-terminal? in this case open a bug upstream in
bugzilla and ask gnome devs to fix it (if they agree with you).
speaking about css theming is not possible to fix width, only padding and style
but not width.

[Bug 818778] Re: Wrong resolution for unity interface (Intel GMA500 / EMGD drivers)

2011-08-01 Thread Lucazade
Just to make things more clear.. the resolution for lcd panel is
correct, is 1366x768 as native resolution.. so not a issue with video
drivers or monitor.

only unity components (panel fonts, launcher icons and dash) are badly
painted.. looks like unity is an another layer on top of desktop and it
is using a wrong resolution like stretched.

the rest of the desktop doesn't suffer of this problem, the applications looks
correctly.
(hope to be clear, english is not my native lang!)

[Bug 818778] [NEW] Wrong resolution for unity interface (Intel GMA500 / EMGD drivers)

2011-07-31 Thread Lucazade
Public bug reported:

Unity3D has some visual glitches using an Intel GMA500 gfx card and Intel EMGD
drivers.
Unity interface (panel, launcher and dash) seems to use a wrong resolution and
everything is badly scaled.

(Unity2D works well instead, doesn't have this issue)

Attached a couple of screenshots, where are visible ugly scaled icons in
launcher, bad fonts in the panel and indicators that when on-over get
distorted.

nux test says this gfx card can handle unity, also compiz standalone works well.
It's a pity because it's quite fast when using unity-3D.

[Bug 812104] Re: Long delay on session logout

2011-07-28 Thread Lucazade
Maybe I have found how to reproduce it constantly.
It happens when I log in Ubuntu session (instead of Ubuntu-2D) in a system
without 3D extension so the system automatically fallback to unity-2d.
When I try to close this session there is a long delay, if instead I log
directly in Ubuntu-2D the session close correctly and quickly.

[Bug 812104] Re: Long delay on session logout

2011-07-27 Thread Lucazade
Unfortunately no special way to reproduce it, just a logout or reboot is enough
to see it here. It happens also on different machines and also with fresh
installations.
Just in rare occasions the session close quickly but I wasn't able to identify
any superficial reasons.
If you need any other logs or different tests results I'll provide you. :)

[Bug 799069] Re: xf86OpenConsole: setpgid failed

2011-06-19 Thread Lucazade
Get the same here... I didn't think to lightdm.

I was trying to make Oneiric work on a IntelGma 500 netbook by using the new
kernel driver 'psb_gfx' included in Kernel 3.0.0
Unfortunately there were some issues with frambuffer/fbdev (and X doesn't
start) so I was checking /var/log/Xorg.0.log and found this issue about
xf86OpenConsole.

[18.386] (WW) xf86OpenConsole: setpgid failed: Operation not permitted
[18.386] (WW) xf86OpenConsole: setsid failed: Operation not permitted

Don't know if the issue with framebuffer I have is the common cause of
this problem of opening console (which should work on top of framebuffer
itself if I am not wrong)

[Bug 788138] Re: group default.plymouth is broken

2011-05-25 Thread Lucazade
I pasted an english version of the error I got without noticing is a bit
different from mine in italian...

$ sudo update-alternatives --config default.plymouth

È presente una sola alternativa nel gruppo default.plymouth:
/lib/plymouth/themes/ubuntu-logo/ubuntu-logo.plymouth
Nulla da configurare.
update-alternatives: attenzione: viene forzata l'installazione dell'alternativa
/lib/plymouth/themes/ubuntu-logo/ubuntu-logo.plymouth poiché il gruppo
default.plymouth è danneggiato.
update-alternatives: attenzione: /lib/plymouth/themes/default.grub non viene
sostituito con un collegamento.

so, it is default.grub and not default.plymouth :)

$ ls -l /lib/plymouth/themes

hope now is more clear!

[Bug 788138] Re: group default.plymouth is broken

2011-05-25 Thread Lucazade
Yes, I tweaked grub default colors some months ago so I've probably messed up
this file (instead of working on linked file!).
Removed it manually and update-alternatives completed succesfully.

You're right is not a plymouth bug, it was me not remembering what I've done!
Thanks a lot for your support.

[Bug 649809] Re: the session settings manager can try starting before the login screen one exits

2011-05-01 Thread Lucazade
I don't have .Xmodmap here on default installation.. I think it is useful only
for mapping keyboard keys.
So I can't reproduce your workaround here.

[Bug 769895] [NEW] Long delay when cancelling gksu dialog

2011-04-24 Thread Lucazade
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gksu

When I start an application that requires gksu and I cancel the password dialog
there is a long delay/hang before coming back to dekstop.

Don't know if it this related to this but usually gksu stored the password for
some
minutes, without asking you again, now it doesn't cache the password.

Attached a video with the issue.

[Bug 769487] Re: [Regression] Ambiance Dark borders around window decorations are too dark

2011-04-23 Thread Lucazade
I agree with Cimi, border is too dark.
Unfortunately reverting to old gradient will brake ubiquity, gnome terminal and
other apps that use the Ambiance dark theme.

Is it possible to split Ambiance (default color scheme and the dark one)
into 2 themes and define somewhere to use a specific theme for app
(and its corresponding metacity theme)?

Karl, I don't see the issue no more, now it always open the preferences applet
correctly.
Strange thing I haven't done any updates or manually change. I've tried to do
some reboot, tried to launch it from terminal and directly from
indicator-datetime menu, it works well.
Don't know, I hope it is not randomic and tomorrow will still work ! :)
