*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 367049 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/367049 I realized that one trigger to this was my hardware! I run a Dell XPS M1330 and the media buttons seems to be activated by the heat or pressure of the LCD when the lid is closed! I guess it has always been so (when having media shortcuts active - which has not been too often because of frequent breakages of these assignments between updates), but only with the notify-osd has it become a CPU intensive issue which queues up and imposes this annoying issue. "note: the file opens correctly with djview4" Well, on Jaunty only the first 88 pages are available here as well. Are you sure this djvu file is complete? @Alexander: That serial log is what is included in the original description. However, since I am now removing parts I don't want treated, then I am removing that serial log... The issue seems to go deeper than that and serial logging just proves that there is something funky with the modem communication. I'll be back soon with an updated description. @smoke: Thanks, but that doesn't look like the same bug at all. [Bug 193970] Re: iwl3945 | iwl4965: Wireless can't be activated after disabling kill switch
This is not fixed in Jaunty final, at least not for XPS M1330. After having the killswitch enabled (wifi disabled) when waking up from resume, I need to right-click network manager, deactive wireless, then activate it again. Only then the wireless LED lights up again and wireless networks are found. At times when doing this, kernel panic occurs, so I am not to fond of the workaround... This is the same behavior that existed in Intrepid before the SRU that fixed in in the .27 kernel. [Bug 278485] Re: If Ubuntu is connected to more than one network (e.g. GSM and wireless) but only GSM has internet access, OS is unable to access internet. NM version 0.7.
As a follow-up on my original message from october 2008: > Adding an option like "Replace default route upon connection" (or preferably "Use this connection to access Internet through while connected") to the network connection options and the configuration guide would solve this issue. Instead, we have a "opposite" option. I feel it would be more intuitive to change the existing option to a checked-by-default option named "Use this connection as default connection (to access Internet) upon connect". Then of course, there is the problem of that when there are two "default" connections, network manager seemingly randomly but consistently chooses the wrong one as the de facto default route to use... [Bug 278485] Re: If Ubuntu is connected to more than one network (e.g. GSM and wireless) but only GSM has internet access, OS is unable to access internet. NM version 0.7.
Short version: The correct way in the latest versions of network manager is to mark which connections that should be evaluated as default connections in the connections editor. Marking as Fix Released. Long version: To my surprise (and maybe because of bad coverage in documentation, since it seems many people have had this problem and fine-combed google to find a solution), there exists an option that solves this bug in my case, where it only is a problem at home when connecting to my local wireless network in order to share my internet connection, access printer etc (ie not connecting to the internet): In network manager connections editor: Wireless -> Mark my local connection -> Edit -> IPv4 Settings -> Routes -> Use this connection only for resources on its network (If enabled, this connection will never be used as the default network connection) This is a new feature since I started experiencing this issue, so I am marking this bug as Fix Released and instead opening up new bugs for our improvement suggestions. Some new bugs just reported, in order to improve network manager to be more intuitive and flexible on this point: Bug #366774 - Please add new sub-menu "Set default connection" in nm-applet menu with the current active connections, so that default route+DNS can be changed easily Bug #366777 - If the current connection provides internet access, don't change default connection when more device connections become active (Requires that bug #278488 is fixed first though) Then, of course, some documentation / wiki entries about this would not hurt! ** Changed in: network-manager (Ubuntu) Status: Triaged => Fix Released -- If Ubuntu is connected to more than one network (e.g. GSM and wireless) but only GSM has internet access, OS is unable to access internet. [Bug 238208] Re: Need MemoryStick driver Ricoh R5C822 chipset
How hard is it to get hacking on a driver for this chipset? As was the case for the Texas Instruments devices: "TI refused to publish a complete datasheet for any of the FlashMedia devices rendering them useless anywhere except M$ Windows" Still, the tifmxx driver was and is being developed. So, can this possibly be done for the Ricoh chipset? Maybe it's even possible to re-use code from the tifmxx driver (MS specifications, code structure etc)? Project page TI driver: http://developer.berlios.de/projects/tifmxx Maybe someone can create a new project in launchpad for this driver, set up the basic driver files etc and at least get a dummy driver up that detects that a MS or xD card has been inserted into the bay - so that we at least can inform the uninformed user that "Sorry, but there are currently no available drivers for MemoryStick or xD cards for your built-in card reader" What about that? -- Need MemoryStick driver Ricoh R5C822 chipset https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/238208 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 220036] Re: Multi-Pointer X Window Server
More information: "What this release doesn't have, however, is X Input 2 or Multi-Pointer X even though MPX had entered the master X Server tree nearly a year ago. A draft of the X Input 2.0 protocol specification is available. These input features are being held off until X Server 1.7 with X.Org 7.5." "It's our prediction that it will be at least July or August before X.Org 7.5 / X Server 1.7 is released, but more than likely it will be out in September." source: http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=article&item=xorg_server_16&num=1 -- Multi-Pointer X Window Server https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/220036 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
