[Bug 772311] Re: X freezes when maximizing konsole window
Same for me here. It doesn't happen on maximize though, it happens any time the window is resized. For now, I have only found Konsole that caused the problem. Since a large part of my work implies logging into multiple servers at the same time with ssh, this is quite critical for me. [Bug 621972] Re: plasma-widget-kimpanel does not work in Maverick

Finally, I got it working for me. I had to install Lucid-Gnome in VirtualBox, and setup the printer as described in this bug report, then copy the URI to my real machine. [Bug 377853] Re: [needs-packaging] kimpanel: a universal IM panel for KDE4
I agree that this should be packaged. Chinese/Japanese/Korean input has always been a clusterfuck in Kubuntu, and it has become worse since KDE 4 was adopted. Kimpanel is finally an IME which is perfectly integrated in the desktop environment. Its a proper plasmoid that can exist either inside a panel or outside, and will work nicely with all applications. [Bug 222164] Re: evtouch works incorrectly when the screen is left or right rotated
Actually, I would need it to work on 8.10 32 bits. I have a Fujitsu U810, and intrepid has apparently fixed a lot of things that were broken in 8.04, including touchscreen support and XRandR compatibility with Compiz. Unfortunately, Rotation still cannot really be used because it is only useful in tablet mode, where the only input method is the touchscreen, and this touchscreen bug screws it up. Is there a tutorial somewhere that explains how to build your own package for ubuntu? [Bug 222164] Re: evtouch works incorrectly when the screen is left or right rotated
Thanks, I was able to build the package myself and confirm that it works. I read the whole Packaging guide and your short tutorial to learn how to do it with debuild and quilt. I have noticed another problem though. My touch panel is slightly wider than my display panel, while being exactly the same height. this means that the calibration of the X axis reports the leftmost and rightmost areas of the touch panel as negative pixel positions because my stylus touches the touch panel, but is not actually over the LCD screen. This works great in normal mode. When I turn the screen to the left/right with XRandR the calibration of the X axis is applied to the Y axis and vice-versa, which means that I can never really reach the edges of my screen in one direction, and reach it too quickly in the other. I'll have a look at that evtouch.c to see how I can fix that additional problem. [Bug 252482] Re: Please backport Alsa 1.0.17 to fix Intel HDA problems
Hello, I can confirm that installing Alsa 1.0.17 on my Hardy install using the script that can be found in the link above fixed all my sound problems. I have a Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo Xi2428 laptop. Additionally, I have tried installing Intepid alpha 4 (which I believe comes with alsa 1.0.17) on an Fujitsu u810, and the sound works. Using Hardy (alsa 1.0.16), the problem is that when I plus in my headphones, the speaker does not mute. That problem is solved with intrepid. I still need to try to install Alsa 1.0.17 on hardy on that laptop. I'll let you know about the result. I personally think this solves so many problems with hda_intel, which I believe is on pretty much all centrino platforms (and that's a sizable chunk of the laptop market), that it really needs to be included into the current LTS release. That's unless you plan on keeping people stuck with a broken sound for the next year and a half. -- Please backport Alsa 1.0.17 to fix Intel HDA problems https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/252482 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 227033] Re: Netgear WG311v3 causes ndiswrapper socket deadlock
So I tried following the WirelessTroubleShootingGuide that was provided, but it turns out that many of the commands will not run properly because when this bug occurs, sudo doesn't work anymore. Sudo probably opens some kind of socket to work its magic, and that makes it freeze when this bug appears. Also all commands that try to diagnose the problem by opening a connection to somewhere (and that includes DNS) lock up without providing any information and have to be forcefully killed. And I can confirm that this bug really tends to happen when you do a lot of simultaneous opening/closing of connections (for example, when you download a torrent). I managed not to have any problems for more than a week by nothing more than browsing the web, but as soon as I started using Bittorrent this bug occured twice within a few hours. Note that on the contrary to what didix says, modprobe -r ndiswrapper followed by modprobe ndiswrapper doesn't work and locks up too. As to the questions asked in one of the top posts, the answers would be: * Is this reproducible? Yes, but not completely at will, trying to saturate the connection with a lot connection creation/destruction will make the bug appear much faster * If so, what specific steps should we take to recreate this bug? The best way I've found is to start any bittorrent on a popular torrent and wait a few ours. When the speed drops to zero, you can verify that all the applications that use a socket do not work anymore. * Is this a laptop or a desktop? I'm using a desktop. * Does this happen on a clean boot? (booting from scratch, not using resume/suspend) It happens from a clean boot. -- Netgear WG311v3 causes ndiswrapper socket deadlock https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/227033 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 227033] Re: Netgear WG311v3 causes ndiswrapper socket deadlock
Hello, I have exactly the same problem with exactly the same wireless card. It seems to happen randomly, but is triggered much faster if I use my connection heavily. For example, If I'm downloading a torrent it will deadlock in a few hours, but if the only thing I do is browse the internet it may take days before the deadlock happens. [Bug 194866] Re: [Ubuntu 8.04alpha5] Notebook: headphones and speakers not muteable seperately
Now I found something interesting about this bug. The bug seems to be purely an ubuntu introduced bug, because it i fixed with the current alsa. This bug was actually fixed in alsa around the 7th of March (bug report along with the patch is here: https://bugtrack.alsa-project.org /alsa-bug/view.php?id=3800 ). I have looked in the ubuntu packaged ALSA sources, and diffed them against a recent mercurial snapshot of alsa- driver (2008-05-02), and it seems that the patch has been incorported into the ubuntu packaged alsa sources already. However the fix doesn't work for the ubuntu packaged alsa driver. It works great on my alsa snapshot though. So this bug has probably been introduced by ubuntu at some point, or there is something missing in the ubuntu that makes the upstream fix inefficient. The fix as described in alsa bug report was to add a new model for the ALC883 codec. The new model name is pi2515. Adding the line options snd-hda-intel model=fujitsu-pi2515 at the end of /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base is supposed to fix the problem. It does fix the problem when alsa is manually compiled and installed, but doesn't fix it with the ubuntu packaged alsa driver. -- [Ubuntu 8.04alpha5] Notebook: headphones and speakers not muteable seperately https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/194866 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 12153] Re: Cannot use Windows key in keyboard shortcuts
I can confirm the behavior reported by Ralf Nieuwenhuijsen. Additionally, I can also confirm that the Windows key is treated as a normal key when setting up the shortcuts through the keyboard shortcuts application. Every time I try to set up a shortcut that uses the WinKey, it is set as Super L, which I think means Left Super and not SuperL. ccsm captures the shortcuts properly. I managed to setup the shortcut to my desktop to SuperD with gconf-editor, and it works properly, so this sems to be a bug that is purely into the keyboard shortcuts application.
