[Bug 82277] Re: [Feisty] guidance-power-manager doesn't work for UPS on a desktop system
I've recently done a bit of work on that, with a very recent version, you can set IS_LAPTOP=True at the top of powermanage.py. This is a workaround to allow powermanager to run, even if HAL reports that the machine is not a laptop (in which case it exits by default). The reason why I did that was to allow to control CPU frequency via the applet, and hibernate / suspend after a while. I do agree with you that this functionality is useful also for non- laptop machines. I'm not sure, however, if extending the scope of powermanager does any good to its primary use cases. In general, we *will* overwrite whatever you change in the meantime when running userconfig. The data is read on startup of userconfig, intermittent changes will be disregarded (not only changing the password). Please accept that your usecase is just not supported. And you are _definitely_ using two applications for the same purpose, namely userconfig and passwd. Reopening the bug also will not suddenly make your usecase more valid. I've now added a call to clear the password field, so it shouldn't be saved twice. Please note, that your usecase is still _not_supported_. S3 might be OK for LiveCDs, but I think HAL should disable hibernate on the LiveCD. It does not make sense for individual applications to decide whether hibernate is available, this really needs to be done in HAL, also for consistency reasons. That also holds true for the buggy hibernate case. The "multi users" case might be solved via permission (i.e. you have to be in a certain group to be able to suspend / hibernate, dunno if that's already the case). [Bug 39603] Re: Display Module in KDE System Settings "fails to load" [[Update: Only with nvidia twinview]]
Attached patch truncates the unusual dualhead metamodes and adds a short representation to the Available sizes. This fixes detection of dualhead resolutions for me. Can someone who has the problem try this patch before I commit it? ** Attachment added: "truncate dualhead metamodes" http://librarian.launchpad.net/4940126/displayconfig-truncate-dualhead-modes.diff ** Changed in: kde-guidance (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) => sebas -- Display Module in KDE System Settings "fails to load" [[Update: Only with nvidia twinview]] https://launchpad.net/bugs/39603 -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs
