[Bug 470346] Re: no internet connection even wired
Hi. I have a very similar issue than Chris. After a network-manager package upgrade (due to grey button on discovering hidden networks bug), network manager cannot obtain a IP address via DHCP. iwconfig show that my computer is associated to the desired network, but I must run dhclient wlan0 to obtain a IP address. Network-manager version is network-manager_0.8~a~git.20091013t193206.679d548-0ubuntu1_i386.deb on Ubuntu 9-10. When I obtain the IP address I can ping the gateway, surf the Internet,...so the connection is well established. But network-manager icon looks like it is trying to connect to the network yet. Every time I disconnect, I must run dhclient to connect again. It seems like network-manager is failing to execute dhcp or is stuck on something else. -- no internet connection even wired https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/470346 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Bug 349102] Re: [System manufacturer P5K-E] suspend/resume failure [non-free: nvidia]
The funny thing is : yesterday I installed nvidia 1.80 driver, and the problem disappeared at once. It reproduces every time, from bying this M/B. The problem is: it doesn't go to standby; instead it switches to empty text-mode screen (nvidia driver) OR shuts down monitor (nv driver), then hangs. [Bug 357861] [NEW] Kernel Suspend/Hibernate problem [386, ASUS P5, nv xorg driver]
Public bug reported: Since I upgraded to 9.04, my machine NEVER wakes up correctly from either suspend or hibernate. But it kind of wakes up : for instance, if I had music running at the time of hibernate, when I try to get the machine to wake up, it will play the music. But I have no screen, no mouse, and no keyboard (I can't even try to reboot X), so the only way to get anything is the RESET button. Triage and Debug of Kernel Suspend/Hibernate Is this a repetition of a previous failure? : NO. Not as such. Did the machine break while going to sleep or waking up? : WHEN WAKING UP. Every time. Is it reproducible? : YES. With both (suspend AND hibernate). The failing is SYSTEMATIC. Did it work before? : YES. As long I had 8.10 (with all updates), it worked. Do you end up with flashing caps-lock or similar? : NO. Never experienced that. [Bug 291732] Re: mouse location wrong in vmplayer
Kubuntu 8.10 (32-bit) doesn't appear to have the same problem. (But it does still have the age-old SIGSEV and Language Pack errors that were previously summarily dismissed...) I started over with a fresh VMX, and booted the Ubuntu live CD. The mouse still didn't work in the CD menu, but after booting into the Ubuntu desktop it worked just fine. I chose to install Ubuntu from the desktop icon, and this time the mouse functions worked properly during the setup phase. After booting to the newly-installed CD, I found the mouse functions to still be in full working order. I'm not sure if this affected anything or not, but I changed the USB Autoconnect setting from it's default of OFF (FALSE) to ON (TRUE), using the easyvmx.com v2.0 generator. -- mouse location wrong in vmplayer https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/291732 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 291732] Re: mouse location wrong in vmplayer
I'm experiencing the same problem. I've just installed Ubuntu 8.10 (32-bit) into the latest VMware Player 2.51 (build 126130). My Microsoft Laser Mouse 6000 USB mouse didn't work at all during the installation phase, I had to use ALT-keys instead. After installing, pressing the left mouse button only works correctly while hovering over the Applications menu. I get only get the Places and System menu to appear if I click on the menu bar to the right of the Firefox/Email and Help icons. For everywhere else, it's also out of synch with the mouse pointer's actual location. The RMB context menu appears, but selecting an option from it is impossible with the LMB. When group selecting items on the desktop, the highlighted rectangle is out of position. I can't click on the software-button update to see if that cures the problem (as the out-of-synch position would be too far off-screen to the right). I'll try Kubuntu 8.10 next to see if that suffers from the same affliction. I've also installed prior versions of Ubuntu (6 and 7) into VMware player without any USB mouse problems such as this. -- mouse location wrong in vmplayer https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/291732 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

after various tests i don't think this has anything to do with /etc/init.d/firestarter being run twice rather with with partitions not mounted yet. In my case it is /var where /etc/firestarter/firestarter.sh stores e.g. /var/lock/firestarter (see e.g. line 180) what ever i do the first run of firestarter after boot or after installing (after being purged) it allways exits with state 2 -- [gutsy] /etc/network/if-up.d/50firestarter exited with return code 2 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/132039 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 80499] Re: [network-admin] Changing ESSID requires reboot or, or manual iwconfig for changes to take effect
Hi, I think I had a similar issue. I connect often to a DHCP wireless LAN at the University , but i need sometimes also to connect to a nother Ap wlan to control a robot. So I wrote 2 scripts in order to switch from one to another. When I started at the robot WLAN all was OK (this LAN had static IP); but when I ran the DHCP WLAN script, I was unable ro return later to the robot WLAN executing its script. iwconfig showed that WLAN connection switched to University LAN, after some seconds. Finally I found that I had to stop a dhcp client daemon AND a WPA_SUPPLICANT daemon too. Adding dhclient stop and killall -q wpa_supplicant at the beginning of my robotWLAN script was enough to end with that disturbing WLAN switching. -- [network-admin] Changing ESSID requires reboot or, or manual iwconfig for changes to take effect https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/80499 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
