[Bug 1951686] [NEW] USB drives turns read-only when emptying Trash

2021-11-20 Thread Han Sol Jin
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu version: Ubuntu 20.04.3 LTS
Nautilus version: 1:3.36.3-0ubuntu1.20.04.1

Overview:
Nautilus appears to move files to Trash when deleting files, regardless of what
drive it happens on. This threw me off for a bit as I never expected deleted
files to be moved into trash on a USB drive, I expected it to permanently
delete.

Expected behaviour:
After moving to Trash, when I empty the Trash, it should actually empty and
reclaim storage space.

Actual behaviour:
When emptying Trash, the entire USB drive turns read-only. This happened
regardless of what USB drive I tested. The Trash, also, doesn't actually get
emptied. Trying to delete the `.Trash-1000` folder in Terminal shows that it is
indeed read-only file system. Thinking it was corrupted I put the USB drive in
my MacBook Pro and it works there.

Deleted `.Trash-1000` on the MBP and now it works.

** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu)

 Status: New

The env var XDG_SESSION_TYPE contains 'tty'.

[Bug 1736796] [NEW] Mouse doesn't work in system menus, but works in Apps

2017-12-06 Thread Sol Wielkopolski
Public bug reported:

So the mouse works in browsers, chrome for instance. And in other apps.
So does the trackpad. When I say mouse from hereon I mean mouse and/or
trackpad.

Neither work in some of the system menus. For example, the following don't
work with a mouse or keyboard:
- Main menu > About the Computer / System Settings
- Volume drop-down, Sound Settings (not working with keyboard)

Apps in the Ubuntu Button work with the keyboard but not the mouse.

A quick note: I will prepare all the packaging and do preliminary local
testing but afterwards we'll be basically stalled until the aa (17.10)
archive is opened (no name for it yet, so it might take a bit).

[Bug 1667187] [NEW] Font fallback/rendering issue when CJK text appears

2017-02-22 Thread LiTuX Sol
Public bug reported:

This issue can be found in kubuntu 16.04 and 16.10, other version are
not tested

When text include east Asian characters, but the font do not include
glyph of those characters, text were cropped so part of a character is
invisible.

This issue exist in konsole, kate/kwrite, konquerer (when opening a text
file), but not in kmail.

How to reproduce:
Using the live CD, select a corresponding language (Chinese, Japanese or
Korean), booting into desktop, opening konsole, and run `ls -l`. The rendering
of the output text is abnormal.

Copying the output into kate and kmail, see the differences.

See attachments for demo.

[Bug 1661750] [NEW] WaLinuxAgent 2.2.4

2017-02-03 Thread Daniel Sol
Public bug reported:

Hi,
It gives me great pleasure to announce another release for WALA, 2.2.4.

The details are below and the download can be found here.

I also owe you an apology, we did release 2.2.3, about 1 week ago, however I
was backlogged on email and never sent my usual introduction of the release. We
have now just released 2.2.4 which contained some additional fixes, I will
raise a bug for this.

We would like you to take the 2.2.4 version and test it within your images,
please can you file any bugs in Github, as this is monitored by our dev team.

If you have any questions please reach out to me directly or raise it through
Github.

Thank you for all your contributions here!

[Bug 1651128] [NEW] walinuxagent 2.2.2

2016-12-19 Thread Daniel Sol
Public bug reported:

It gives me great pleasure to announce another release for WALA, 2.2.2.

The details are below and the download can be found here:
https://github.com/Azure/WALinuxAgent/releases/tag/v2.2.2

Some of the highlights of this release:
Azure Stack fix
RDMA updates
Multiple fixes
Enable host plugin
This is enable the agent to communicate with the host for downloading
extensions when all outbound connectivity is blocked. Please note, if the
extension itself requires access out of the VM, such as writing to Azure
storage, this will still be blocked.

Would you be able to package, test and release for 14.04/16.04/16.10,
but before, can can you enable the auto update for wala 2.1.5 in bug?
thanks :
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/walinuxagent/+bug/1650522

Again, for this release, can auto update be enabled? thanks?

Should you have any issues with 2.2.2 please raise this on Github.

2016-12-02 Thread Daniel Sol
Hi guys - we can test this.
Please note on a thread with Dan Watkins we need to have the Agent auto update
enabled in waagent.conf, this is set to 'n' in 16.10, can this be changed for
all, and before final public release into trusty and yakkety?

# Enable or disable self-update, default is enabled
AutoUpdate.Enabled=y
AutoUpdate.GAFamily=Prod

Ive sent info to Dan, happy to chat about this.

Dan Sol - given where we are in the yakkety release cycle
(https://na01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3a%2f%2fwiki.ubuntu.com%2fYakketyYak%2fReleaseSchedule=02%7c01%7cdanis%40microsoft.com%7c7e8f549ffdd946a6da2208d3e24b62cf%7c72f988bf86f141af91ab2d7cd011db47%7c1%7c0%7c636100785813909774=H4WJaBO%2fTzAYVh3Cw3udVtpzDNGYOXCDB%2fishzv3I0g%3d)
unless there is a serious regression or critical bug fix that can't be
backported to 2.1.5, we need to stay the course and look to bringing in 2.1.7
in at the start of the Z release in ~4 weeks. So, the question is if you would
like for us to stop the backport of 2.1.5 to Xenial and Trusty, and wait for
2.1.7 to appear in Z and then start the backport.

[Bug 1577918] Re: Kubuntu Discover search returns no results

2016-09-19 Thread Samuel Sol
Another user with the same user.

This does not happen on my machine that was updated from 15.10 to 16.04.
On my 16.04 machine the search functions ONCE every boot of MUON.

For example, let's say I search for PHP, I will find everything that is
there. If I go and search again for something else, the search want work
anymore. I need to restart either muon/discovery to work again.

Hi Matthew,
Thank you for the notice.

I see in the bug notification this was tested for 1404, 1604, can I
confirm it is now in the repos for these two releases, also, will it go
into 1610 too?

Thanks,

Dan

RE: [Bug 1603581] Re: Azure Linux Agent (WALA) 2.1.5 Released

2016-07-26 Thread Daniel Sol
Hi Dan,
Just to confirm we have tested basic validation on 1404 and 1604 with the
private 2.1.5 packages:

- deploy stock vm
- check wala/python versions and log
- add package source and upgrade
- check wala/python versions and log
- install+enable vm access and check log
- verify status in portal
- log in with new user

We have seen no issues.

Thanks,

Dan

Hi Daniel,

I've built a test package for trusty in
https://na01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https:%2f%2flaunchpad.net%2f~daniel-=01%7C01%7Cdanis%40microsoft.com%7C54f08526a7004389ad3308d3b07af002%7C72f988bf86f141af91ab2d7cd011db47%7C1=bljOv%2f3QDzCoVIev%2bERYs7KrLxdlMRFriDT%2f8Ui9uIs%3d
thewatkins/+archive/ubuntu/wala. Please test this version and let us know if
you are happy for us to start the process of getting this in to the official
archive.

One notable change in this version of the package is that waagent will
run using Python 3 rather than Python 2; this makes trusty consistent
with more recent releases, but is a difference that you may want to pay
attention to in your testing.

Thanks,

Dan

RE: [Bug 1597048] Re: walinuxagent systemd unit files updates

2016-06-29 Thread Daniel Sol
Hi Robie,
The problem is to address the scenario where extensions installed rely on the
Agent running, such as Backups, Security scanning extns etc. If the agent stops
there needs to be a way this is automatically restarted.

-U is for logging
RestartSec=5 is just if it crashes wait 5s before it restarts.

Thanks,

Da

[Bug 1173268] Re: Lubuntu not starting

2013-04-26 Thread Marcos Vives Del Sol
I am unable to boot so I can't run apport-collect. Installation disc
does not have it either.

I think this is caused by my graphic card, but I don't know how to fix
it.

hello, the bug is still present in LibreOffice 3.4.5 OOO340m1 (Build:502)
(the only possible workaround is for me to disable Tools-AutoCorrect
Options-Options-URL recognition, and Format-Clear direct Formatting to
un-URL-ize old cells email.)

[Bug 561729] Re: Bcfg2 package broken in Ubuntu 10.04 LTS

2011-04-25 Thread Sol Jerome
** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: bcfg2
+

Is there any way we can get the bcfg2/bcfg2-server packages at
https://launchpad.net/~bcfg2/+archive/ppa synced to lucid since the
current packages are very broken (see bug #421308)? These packages have
been tested by multiple users and are preferred in favor of the very old
  version that is currently packaged.

+ 1. The bcfg2/bcfg2-server packages are completely unusable due to a python
version upgrade (see bug #421308).
+ 2. Support for more recent versions of python was added upstream in the 1.x.x
series. The 11.04 release has 1.1.1-2ubuntu1 which is tested and working.
+ 3. The changes from the 0.9.6 series to the 1.x.x series were extremely
significant and it would be easier to do a new upload than a diff on the 0.9.6
series.
+ 4. TEST CASE:
+ sudo aptitude install bcfg2-server
+ sudo bcfg2-admin init
+ (follow onscreen instructions)
+ sudo bcfg2-server
+ Note that this test case will show the problem in the broken 0.9.6 packages
whereas the 1.1.1-2ubuntu1 package will run the server successfully.
+ 5. There is no chance of regression issues since the currently packaged
version is completely unusable.
+
  Thanks!

[Bug 624824] Re: bcfg2-server crashed with KeyError in __init__()

2010-09-06 Thread Sol Jerome
This release has not worked on Ubuntu for some time. See
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/bcfg2/+bug/421308. Also, we
have already opened a bug report requesting that the latest version of
bcfg2 be included in Ubuntu at
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/bcfg2/+bug/561729. It doesn't
look like anyone is willing to respond to that bug report. Until Ubuntu
fixes those bugs, you can use the PPA at
https://launchpad.net/~bcfg2/+archive/ppa to get the latest stable
version of Bcfg2.

[Bug 515543] [NEW] netbase depends on ifupdown

2010-02-01 Thread Sol Jerome
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: netbase

Description:Ubuntu lucid (development branch)
Release:10.04
netbase:
  Installed: 4.35ubuntu3

Currently, the netbase package only 'Recommends' ifupdown:

   # aptitude show netbase
   Package: netbase
   State: installed
   Automatically installed: no
   Version: 4.35ubuntu3
   Priority: important
   Section: admin
   Maintainer: Ubuntu Core Developers ubuntu-devel-disc...@lists.ubuntu.com
   Uncompressed Size: 102k
   Depends: lsb-base (= 3.0-6), upstart-job
   Recommends: ifupdown
   Conflicts: inetutils-inetd ( 2:1.4.3+20060719-3), openbsd-inetd (
0.20050402-3)
   Description: Basic TCP/IP networking system
This package provides the necessary infrastructure for basic TCP/IP based
networking.

However, removing the ifupdown package results in a broken networking
init script due to the following line:

   [ -x /sbin/ifup ] || exit 0

Either the ifupdown dependency should be removed, or it should be moved
to the Depends section.

Thanks,
Sol

[Bug 496899] Re: bcfg2 1.0 in lucid lynx

2009-12-15 Thread Sol Jerome
The package is currently being pushed to Debian. Once there, Ubuntu
should sync it over. There is already an open ticket regarding the
upstart init stuff at

[Bug 421308] Re: bcfg2-server crashed with Fault in critical_error()

2009-11-20 Thread Sol Jerome
The 1.0.0 release is out now. We are tracking current packages on the
bcfg2 launchpad page (https://launchpad.net/~bcfg2). I have tried both
server and client on karmic and they both work.

[Bug 421308] Re: bcfg2-server crashed with Fault in critical_error()

2009-10-26 Thread Sol Jerome
This release was out well before this version of Python was in use. I
would recommend upgrading to the 1.0 release candidate by adding the
Bcfg2 PPA (https://launchpad.net/~bcfg2/+archive/ppa). This release has
been tested on karmic.

[Bug 281578] Re: virtual terminals missing after upating to kernel 2.6.27-7

2008-11-25 Thread Sol Mumey
I'm having a very similar issue. My consoles are blank. I am using an
Intel Corporation 82G35 Express Integrated Graphics Controller. Read
about a similar issue last year:
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=13196.

The v86d solution did not work. Also tried modprobe vg16fb; modprobe
vbcon from another suggestion.

[Bug 159780] Re: Key combo disables edge button for compiz scale

2007-11-15 Thread Sol Swords
By edge button I mean the combination of clicking a specified mouse
button with the pointer at a specified edge or corner of the screen. I
didn't realize that held for buttons by themselves, too.

[Bug 159780] Key combo disables edge button for compiz scale

2007-11-03 Thread Sol Swords
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: compiz

If a key combo and an edge-button combo are both set for any of the
Scale plugin's Initiate actions, the edge-button combo will only work
until the key combo is first used. Disabling and reenabling the plugin
or reloading compiz resets it to work again until the key combo is
pressed again.

Steps:
In CompizConfig, check to enable the Scale plugin, then set a key combo, a
screen edge, and an edge button for the Initiate Window Picker action.

Try the edge button combo a few times, which should work.

Try the key combo, which also should work.

Try the edge button combo again, which now does nothing.

[Bug 82806] Re: With compiz running in feisty, text doesn't display in Run Application dialog

2007-03-03 Thread Sol
Similar problem, If I turn on Desktop-Effects in Feisty then open a terminal I
get the screen come up but no text.
If the terminal was already open then text displays as normal.
Also trying to switch tabs in Firefox with Desktop Effects on doesn't change
the display on screen.
I am on a HP Pavilion zd8010us laptop with an ATI x600 video card, 1Gb Mem and
3GHz Intel Hyperthreading Processor.

[Bug 69387] Re: Default config DocumentRoot points to /var/www/.

2006-10-31 Thread sol
Sorry, I do not agree. After installing the ubuntu version of apache2
everything under /var/www/ is exposed to the public. It is not true that
the apache2 config of debian sarge does the same. It contains one
important line that makes a big difference, namely RedirectMatch ^/$
/apache2-default/.
