[Bug 542547] [NEW] Termial and Gnome Panel need to be excluded on the compiz negative plugin to allow for invert on default theme
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: compiz Lucid i386 amd64 This setting should be considered the default based on the default theme setting currently shipping with Lucid. In the negative plugin for compiz the exclude list should be: (type=Desktop) | class=Gnome-terminal | class=Gnome-panel This means that on invert all the windows will appear inverted. What happens now is that the termial is white and the gone panel and menus are white as they both alread have dark backgrounds by default. This is a potential point of confusion for those users who are not used to setting up compiz and themes should be able to configure the invert attributes of certain components under compiz. On further usage there are more problems with the current theme as now application menus are inverted based on the settings above. [Bug 542668] [NEW] cups unable to get connection from remote system on port 631
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: cups Running on Lucid i386 I have been unable to access the cups interface from a remote system using: http://servername:631/ The browser would report no connection available and not receive anything from the host machine. The local machine would login correctly. I had enabled remote administation and shared the printer with Internet printing enabled. [Bug 539941] [NEW] ESD removed from registry no sound when in winecfg
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: wine1.2 Installed wine and go no sound after install. Then went into winecfg and got a message that there was no need to have the ESD entry in the sound servers and would I like to remove it from the list. Interested to see what happened I clicked Yes and now can not restore the ESD option. So i have apt-get purge wine and rm -rf .wine and still ESD entry will not come back after reinstall in winecfg. Now wine has no sounds as it pretty useless for someone who is using it for sounds applications. Reproduce it install wine and run winecfg click on sounds and then answer yes to the question about not needing ESD. [Bug 489526] Re: ubuntu one couch db dones not store postal address information
I have reopened the bug after testing from the beta ppa, the issue described above still exists. The problem is with the contents from the large Address: box in evolution under new cotact not being uploaded into the Ubuntu One Web interface. I am not sure if the data is now lost after updating the database but this information could be essential when on the road and you can not access it right now. I will keep my eye on the Address field to see if it is removed again. I suspect that when is syncs it might disappear. Public bug reported: Binary package hint: evolution I am using Ubuntu karmic and have try testing the ubuntu one feature in Evolution. I started adding contacts and their addresses into the system then found that all of the postal address that i had saved into ubuntu one no longer existed. SO i have lost my addresses. I have not investigated thoroughly how to reproduce this but all i did was add into contacts and add extra postal address information then reloaded evolution a few days later and it was gone. [Bug 444120] Re: cannon capt driver daemon does not start both ccpd processes cndrvcups-capt
There is a workaround, this worked for me in 9.04 Add the attachted init.d script here: /etc/init.d/ccpd Make sure you: sudo chmod a+x /etc/init.d/ccpd Then install: sudo apt-get install insserv Then run sudo insserv -v If you have already tried to add it using update-rc.d this will have to be removed first: sudo update-rc.d -f ccpd remove This uses the information from the ccpd file to set the correct run levels and start the daemon as it should be started. The monitor can be added into preferences-Startup Application. Use the command: captstatusui -P LBP3010 -e changing the printer name to what ever you defined it as in the canon instructions. The -e keeps it hidden in the background until there is a problem. ** Attachment added: ccod init script modified for correct run levels and ubuntu http://launchpadlibrarian.net/33168977/ccpd ** Changed in: ubuntu Status: New = In Progress ** Changed in: ubuntu Assignee: (unassigned) = TommyBoy (thomaslloyd) -- cannon capt driver daemon does not start both ccpd processes cndrvcups-capt https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/444120 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Public bug reported: Expected: After boot, login and running ps -A we should see two seperate ccpd processes running. Running /etc/init.dccpd restart, start or stop should have an effect on the process Actual: After boot we get once process for ccpd running. This means that communication with the printer is broken. Running a init.d restart or a start will fail. Running stop returns OK but checking in PS or running Status the one process spawned on startup still remains there. [Bug 379603] [NEW] ATI 2600 HD Pro PCIe- Broken Sound over HDMI, delayed startup, delays with OSD (vol + compiz), unabled to access Display settings, Crashes in VLC fullscreen
Public bug reported: Right i have just upgraded to 9.04 20th May. Things have been a little unstable and slow compared to 8.10 when i enabled my propriety ATI driver for my 2660 HD pro card. Then my sound broke a day or so after. This was not acceptable so I tried to fix it thinking the user was at fault but with no success. So i initially had sound working over HDMI after the base install ** with a pulse audio tweak see end of message. This was not very good until pulse audio seems to adjust itself. Then the sound stopped working today 22 May, I was not sure why. Even after first enabling the propriety driver i experienced problems using the native display control tool to change settings for the LCD i am using. It would hang and not load just sitting there or even crash the machine. Trying to get VLC to go full screen after setting the video screen to crop 16:10 and deintelace Bob the screen would blank and them nothing. There seemed to be a long delay from login to getting a working desktop with the screen flashing and elements appearing and disappearing. Eventually the system comes up and was semi stable. After the audio stopped working i reinstalled the whole system from scratch getting updates from the internet during install and immediatly after first boot. The audio again did not work after a fresh install. After a few hours of work I downloaded the Latest ATI release of the proprietry driver. This seems to have solved a lot of the issues i was experiencing with the ubuntu driver version. Sound now works, startup is smoother, faster and the display panel works nicely as expected. VLC is untested yet but i don't want to loose this report. The AtI version I downloaded from the site was 9-5 and contains version of the drivers 8.61.2 OpenGL 2.1.8664 As a side note to get sound working on this graphics card i have to make these changes see: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1009407 Description:Ubuntu 9.04 Release:9.04 ProblemType: Bug Architecture: i386 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 9.04 NonfreeKernelModules: fglrx Package: xorg-driver-fglrx 2:8.600-0ubuntu2 [modified: usr/lib/libatiadlxx.so usr/lib/libfglrx_dm.so.1.0 usr/lib/libfglrx_gamma.so.1.0 usr/lib/libfglrx_pp.so.1.0 usr/lib/libfglrx_tvout.so.1.0 usr/lib/libXvBAW.so.1.0 usr/lib/libGL.so.1.2 usr/lib/dri/fglrx_dri.so usr/lib/xorg/modules/amdxmm.so usr/lib/xorg/modules/glesx.so usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/fglrx_drv.so usr/lib/xorg/modules/linux/libfglrxdrm.so usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions/libdri.so usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions/libglx.so usr/lib/libaticalcl.so usr/lib/libaticaldd.so usr/lib/libaticalrt.so usr/sbin/amdnotifyui usr/sbin/atieventsd usr/bin/aticonfig usr/bin/atiodcli usr/bin/atiode usr/bin/fgl_glxgears usr/bin/fglrx_xgamma usr/bin/fglrxinfo] ProcEnviron: LANG=en_GB.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash ProcVersion: Linux version 2.6.28-11-generic (bui...@palmer) (gcc version 4.3.3 (Ubuntu 4.3.3-5ubuntu4) ) #42-Ubuntu SMP Fri Apr 17 01:57:59 UTC 2009 SourcePackage: fglrx-installer Uname: Linux 2.6.28-11-generic i686 ** Affects: fglrx-installer (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-bug i386 -- ATI 2600 HD Pro PCIe- Broken Sound over HDMI, delayed startup, delays with OSD (vol + compiz), unabled to access Display settings, Crashes in VLC fullscreen https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/379603 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 307029] Re: Bug #173135: on 8.10 - USB Microsoft Ergo 4000 keyboard errors continues on 2.6.27-9-generic
Problem identified with my motherrboard. For some time my USB hardware has been seemingly failing on my motherboard. This is a power related issue. I have my MS keyboard and mouse intellipoint plugged into a Hub with would normally not overload the 500ma limit. The problem is the reliability of the USB ports and the amount of power that each port can provide to the devices connected on my semmingly faulty hardware. This is why the problem occurs now on both 8.04 and 8.10. This was solved by a PCI USB extention card and I no longer get any errors from my USB keyboard. Anyone else getting this error then watch the load you applying across the USB ports and be aware that they do not always provide the full 500ma, especially when you have a cheap AMD x2 motherboard fron Nvidia. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: New = Invalid -- Bug #173135: on 8.10 - USB Microsoft Ergo 4000 keyboard errors continues on 2.6.27-9-generic https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/307029 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 307378] [NEW] Screen cropped after LCD sleep on 8.10
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg This happens when my LCD HDTV connect via HDMI goes into sleep/power saving mode. On resume the screen is zoomed to a smaller area of the screen and i can not access the bottom and the far left of the screen. To get an idea it is like the zoom feature of the compiz package but zoom is not enabled and no mouse tracking occurs. This issue is correctee by resetting the Xserver. This problem renders most of the desktop inaccessible and therefore is very limiting after it had occured.
