[Bug 407576] [NEW] ecafe ec-900 - Keyboard and Touchpad fail

2009-07-31 Thread jotronic
Public bug reported:

On Kubuntu Xubuntu (Ubuntu not tested yet) daily build.

On my ecafe ec-900 Netbook, when useing Touchpad, the coursor sometimes
becomes jumpy then sometimes doubleclick with one touch. This gets worse
until Touchpad completly lockup and the Keyboard also. USB-
Mouse/Keyboard still good and working. When a Touchpad/ Keyboard lockup
happened then the device will fail at the next boot. I have to remove
AC-Power as well the Battery to make it boot again.

The Touchpad seems to be an Elantech type.

[Bug 251402] Re: safe remove usb flash drive message

2009-04-22 Thread jotronic
It is only supposed to appear if the unmounting takes longer than 0.7
seconds? Why?

People might wait to take the device out before they see a Message which
tells them that it is save. If no Data will be written, they will wait a
long time and maybe they won't wait a next time after that - corrupt
Data - Linux = bad because ist destoys data on a usb-device (or
something like that)

If no Data will be written, it is save to remove the device, isn't it? I
think it would be better to show a Message all the time, when a device
will be unmounted. Anything else I don't understand.

[Bug 275758] Re: VIA VX800u doesn't work in Intrepid

I just got a good screen. I tried vga=0x0301 at kernel prompt.

Without kernelparameter the screen is to messed up to see anything. I
wouldn't be able to give lspci output or Xorg.0.log.

All fine now. The VX800 Chipset is now supported by Openchrome and
Kernel 2.6.28, I think. Things might work out well by Ubuntu 9.04.

Today a new BIOS was released and I tested the daily build cd. No
changes. The Textmode-Installer or the BIOS is still broken
(http://launchpadlibrarian.net/18029185/PIC03664.JPG). I tried some
kernelparameter but they also messed up, a 640x480x8 parameter doubles
the picture and inverts it. This might be also a Debian bug, wich I
haven't tested yet.

[Bug 219815] Re: Hardy - Monitors whitout EDID

2008-05-09 Thread jotronic
** Description changed:

- There are still a lot of Monitors which don't have a propper EDID. The
- autodetection can't detect them right, but there is no solution provided
- to configure these Mpnitors manually or Displayconfig-gtk is broken. It
- is a big bad expirience for a user if the resolution or the refresh-rate
- is stck at a undisireble configuration. A too low refresh-rate is also
- bad for health (60hz).
-
-
- (A comment from the blueprints: 2008-03-10 bryce: This is considered complete
now. There are a few corner cases where monitors aren't reporting proper EDID
(such as if used with a KVM that drops the EDID pin) where rates must be
manually specified, but it will never be possible to autodetect these;
something like displayconfig-gtk is the right tool to use in these cases if one
wishes to not deal with direct xorg.conf editing. Other unique cases, where the
monitor is reporting EDID, but improperly, are being handled via monitor quirks
into xserver on a case-by-case basis as they're discovered.)

[Bug 219815] [NEW] Hardy - Monitors whitout EDID

2008-04-20 Thread jotronic
Public bug reported:

There are still a lot of Monitors which don't have a propper EDID. The
autodetection can't detect them right, but there is no solution provided
to configure these Mpnitors manually or Displayconfig-gtk is broken. It
is a big bad expirience for a user if the resolution or the refresh-rate
is stck at a undisireble configuration. A too low refresh-rate is also
bad for health (60hz).

(A comment from the blueprints: 2008-03-10 bryce: This is considered complete
now. There are a few corner cases where monitors aren't reporting proper EDID
(such as if used with a KVM that drops the EDID pin) where rates must be
manually specified, but it will never be possible to autodetect these;
something like displayconfig-gtk is the right tool to use in these cases if one
wishes to not deal with direct xorg.conf editing. Other unique cases, where the
monitor is reporting EDID, but improperly, are being handled via monitor quirks
into xserver on a case-by-case basis as they're discovered.)

[Bug 215356] Re: Problems with screen resolutions and two Monitors

2008-04-18 Thread jotronic
in xorg.0.log you can see, the second monitor seems to be detecet as a
[EMAIL PROTECTED] (max.) but still it would set the resolution at 1280x768. It
it no widescreen monitor so this must be wrong.

[Bug 219271] [NEW] Hardy - removable device

2008-04-18 Thread jotronic
Public bug reported:

If I unmount a removable device (f.a. usb-stick) then the message The
device is now safe to remove doesn't always appear. It might only
appear if data have to be written to the device, but it should always
inform the user when the device has been unmounted, I think.

[Bug 218863] [NEW] monitor detection

2008-04-17 Thread jotronic
Public bug reported:

The automatic Monitor is still broken, will it be fixed till official
release of Hardy?

None of my Monitors are correct detected. Ati or Nvidia card, doesn't
matter. One Monitor is stuck with 60hz and won't let me change it. The
false resolutions are super annoying, and gdm is the worst.

Thats really a major bug and I hope somebody works on it. I already
reported this Bug, but it seems that it doesn't really get attention.

Post a little comment if sombody is working an this Problem.

[Bug 215356] Re: Problems with screen resolutions and two Monitor

2008-04-15 Thread jotronic
** Summary changed:

- Problems with screen resolutions and second Monitor
+ Problems with screen resolutions and two Monitor

** Description changed:

- I use Hardy.
+ In 8.04 the automatic Monitor detection is broken.

- At the login screen the resolution is wrong. It looks like the highest
- posible resolution, but it seems like for a widescreen monitor, wich i
- not have. After the login I can change it at the Desktop, but the login
- screen is always wrong.
+ If a Monitor has been found, the resolution or (and) the refresh Rate
+ would be wrong.

- I have two old CRT on a ATI Radeon 9600. A LG 1725 and a Siemens Nixdorf
- unkown. The LG can't be identified from any OS so far. The Siemens can
- be identified.
+ If two Monitors are attached, they might be detected as only one. If two
+ are detected, than they are always cloned. No Big Desktop, no stand
+ alone.

- Monitor two is alway a clone of Monitor one. In Gnome I can't turn the
- clone off. There is only one Display found. I can't add a new Monitor or
- force a second one.
+ Changes in xorg.conf are ignored or produce a black screen and the
+ displayconfig-gtk menu (any settings produce a black screen again).

- Update: With visual effects the resolution becomes like gdm at every
- start and doesn't remember the changes.
+ Sometime even the screens are mixed. Screen one become two and the same
+ again.
