[Bug 1071808] Re: glabels font selection extremely slow
I had reported a similar bug (maybe the one you cite above) where glabels was not displaying fonts. The developers fixed the issue very quickly. There seems to have been some regression however. Proportional fontswill not display. The scroll of fonts is there, and you can take random guesses as to which font you are selecting, but it's like throwing a dart at a map. One workaround would be to allow the user to type in exactly the desired font. Half the time I know which font I want, but cannot find it. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1071808 Title: glabels font selection extremely slow To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/glabels/+bug/1071808/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 763036] [NEW] Odd default fonts in OpenOffice.org documents

I have tried numerous times to edit the default formats with the "Styles and Formatting" window, changing both the default option as well as the individual styles ("Heading", "Result", etc.) No matter. The next time I open a new document, the decorative fonts are the defaults yet again. Not only that, but even in documents where I have already changed the default font to, say, Arial, every time I paste new material into a cell or document, it reverts back to the decorative font. What's up? Is this a GNOME desktop setting that is bleeding into OOo? Or is this purely an OpenOffice issue? Please advise as to how I can provide more information. I have to say, it's getting to be pretty puzzling. I see a list of over fifty names in the right sidebar, supposedly being updated regarding this thread, and not one of you can just type a single sympathetic note, like "Wow... sorry for your troubles... hope it gets resolved"? No one? Deep, long sigh. -- Ubuntu fails to load after white logo splash screen. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/483451 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 483451] Re: Ubuntu fails to load after white logo splash screen.
Very little to report, but here it is: Just before the latest kernel upgrade, I was able to get 2.6.31.17 to load normally. Then, 2.6.31-19-generic came along and was also working perfectly... for less than a week. I have no idea what change allowed the newer kernels to start up, nor what subsequent change undid that progress. And, as I've stated numerous times in this thread, until someone - anyone - says hello and asks me to follow some simple instruction, I won't know where to begin. For now I am still having to load kernel 2.6.31.14, and still wondering if Fedora or Windows 7 isn't a possible alternative. I thank anyone who responds in advance once again. -- Ubuntu fails to load after white logo splash screen. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/483451 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 516362] [NEW] Ooo Writer crashes entire system on printing page 2
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: openoffice.org I'm on Ubuntu 9.10, fully updated (although I'm having to boot from kernel 2.6.31-14-generic, not the current version... separate issue, I think.) OpenOffice.org version 3.1.1 - OOO310m19 (Build:9420). Or, alternately (depending on where I'm looking) openoffice.org-core 1:3.1.1-5ubuntu1. My printer is an HP Officejet J4680 All-in-One. I have newsletters I print out every month for our members, and I do so one page at a time, so that I can print double-sided copies. Page one has color graphics, and so I print out however many copies I need of it (roughly 100) using "Normal" printout Mode (auto-detect paper type) and Resolution is set to "300dpi, Color, Black + Color Cartr." These print out perfectly every time (although sometimes way too many copies... no idea about that.) Then I put those pages back in the feed tray properly so as to print on the back side of them, and I try to print the same number of copies, only of page two instead page one, and I select "Draft Grayscale" and "300dpi, Draft, Grayscale, Black Cartr." I select "OK", and then the screen flashes a few times, and my entire system seizes up. Nothing works, and there's no soft reboot as an option. Powering off, and then back up again is the only fix. When I do power back up, the Ooo document recovery app is right there to greet me, and it seems to do an OK job of salvaging the file itself, but the document is a blank onscreen untiI close Ooo and start it back up again. I tried printing page four of the same newsletters, both in color and in draft grayscale, both single and multiple copies, but it printed just fine. For whatever reason - and it sounds just as crazy to me as it does to you - the problem is with page two of any ODT documents I try to print. Quite honestly, I have yet to try printing page two Normal, and in color, but will do so if you would like. Please advise on how to proceed. Thank you in advance for your attention to this matter. ** Affects: openoffice.org (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Ooo Writer crashes entire system on printing page 2 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/516362 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Hello? Once again, I'd like to know if anyone is ever going to respond to this. If not, that's fine, but I'd just like to know. Also, at some point, if I can't upgrade past kernel 2.6.31.14, then I am slowly and steadily getting handicapped. Should I also start looking at reloading Windows, like the OP? So, there was a new kernel update today - version 2.6.31-17.54 - with exactly the same results: frozen at Ubuntu splash screen immediately after selecting kernel to load. Could someone (other than the OP) please just copy and paste the following message into this thread: "We're busy right now... we'll get to this when we can." I don't mind waiting in the least. I realize I'm not supposed to clog up the bug reports with idle chatter or repetitive posts, but we're going on two months without even a dismissive comment from anyone other than the OP and myself. Something - and I don't know what - changed the the "default num" in my menu.lst. Yes, and I just checked the permissions of each folder leading to it from home. I own it and all of the folders, and others have access to it. It's easily reproducible by me, at least... - Launch F-Spot - select photo I wish to print (in this case, dscn0128.jpg in folder /home/ricardo/Photos/2009/12/11) - select "Photo" >> "Print" >> and make sure settings are correct (paper source, printout mode, resolution, etc.) - and then either print or print preview. Public bug reported: Binary package hint: f-spot Although bug #450456 looks like it might be similar, I couldn't tell from the description. If I try to print (or view print preview) instead of the image I have selected, I get the "image missing" icon instead (it looks like it's probably the one from the Oxygen theme set, under "status"), the red circle with the diagonal red bar, a lá "Ghostbusters". I tried altering various printer settings to see if for some bizarre reason it was CUPS or HPLIP instead of F-Spot, but no. I'm on Ubuntu Koala, fully updated to the best of my knowledge; F-Spot version 0.6.1.5. My printer is an HP Photosmart C5180 All-in-One, which used to print everything just fine. [Bug 488037] [NEW] mousing over cells with notes no longer displays note
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: openoffice.org It used to be the case - and I'm honestly not certain if the change came with Koala or with the latest version of OOo - that when you moused over a spreadsheet cell with a diminished note inside of it, the note would temporarily display itself. This is/was an extremely handy feature, and easily beats having to right-click, one-by-one, ever diminished note and selecting "Show note", then hiding the note again until you found the one you for which you were searching. Please bring this back. Thanks. [Bug 460323] Re: Karmic RC tries to load rt2870sta AND rt2800usb. Results in no WiFi
Hello everyone. Blacklisting 2800 and adding 2780 got my connection up and running. However, something is definitely up with the connection, at least with regards to my browser. It seems to take forever to get started, and then crawls after that most often. Meanwhile, once I am connected to the Internet, if I launch Pan (my binary newsreader) it speeds along at the rates I used to see generally under Jaunty (150-300 kbps). What gives? I'm assuming that this has something to do with ports, since I know newsreaders and browsers vary in at least that regard. Is this something that will eventually be fixed? How can I help to diagnose the problem? Thanks for everything that you do. -- Karmic RC tries to load rt2870sta AND rt2800usb. [Bug 469595] [NEW] double-clicking on a folder does not open it
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nautilus Just that... I double-clicked repeatedly on a sub-folder of my "Videos" folder, and nothing happened. The folder was clearly being selected and highlighted, but nothing else would happen. I had to open it with a right-click and "Open", which did so, but in a new window. After apport collected the bug report information, and several minutes passed, it now appears to be functioning properly. Why the temporary problem, I don't know; I did not have an exceptional number of applications running at once. Please advise if this is worthy of investigation, or if you require more info. [Bug 403780] Re: evince not printing text in PDFs
My apologies... My new HP printer will not print anything at all if the ink cartridge is below a certain point, so my pages were coming out blank, instead of spotty or greying out. [Bug 403780] Re: evince not printing text in PDFs
So, now it's happening in Adobe Acrobat 9.1.3 on Ubuntu as well... only worse, I think. Evince at least was print frames and bars; I'm getting blank sheets of paper from Acrobat as of today, or at least some time this week. As I recall there was a poppler update just a day or two ago. I'm attaching a pdf that I can view in Acrobat (not view in evince) but not print. ** Attachment added: "unprintable pdf." http://launchpadlibrarian.net/34283763/TrailersPlayhouse7_10-23-2009.pdf -- evince not printing text in PDFs https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/403780 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 331681] Re: Error initializing camera: -60: Could not lock the device
I don't think downgrading to Hardy is the solution, to be honest. If the maintainers of the repositories would be so kind as to keep "legacy" version of libgphoto (and ALL Ubuntu software, while they're at it) available for people to force the version they need, that would be the solution. Where are the older versions? If someone would be so kind as to point us to them, I'm sure we could confirm or deny very rapidly what the problem is. Mind you, there might very well be dependency problems if we force install a two-year-old version of libgphoto, so maybe the devs can give us a tip or two with that as well. [Bug 436461] [NEW] [BIOSTAR Group P4M90-M4] late resume failure [non-free: nvidia]
