[Bug 205948] Re: replace all with no wrap around replaces all from the top

2008-03-24 Thread Jonathan Ernst
the option is about the search not, the remplace, you are using
replace all which is doing its work

Then please explain me why the other three checkboxes are affecting the
meaning of the Replace all button ?

If that's not a bug, that's highly misleading.

I have reported this bug upstream as, you are right, it's not Ubuntu's
responsability to fix it.

Thanks

[Bug 205664] Re: Nautilus 2.20.0 crashes and restart if i access windows filesystems

2008-03-24 Thread Pedro Villavicencio
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or
challenging to deal with as a .crash file. Please follow these
instuctions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be
dealt with by the automatic retracer.

If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch
nautilus and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on
the crash report you wish to submit.

I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will
automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more
efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

[Bug 205969] Re: cannot even install the OS 8.04 beta

2008-03-24 Thread Charles
Hi Kozelos,

Is there anything uncommon about your hard drive/partition configuration
that might be causing this?

You are seeing just sda1, what others should there be? What options did
you have in Gutsy that are now gone?

And, did you try the Manual option for partitioning/installing? Did that
not allow you to install in the desired way?

[Bug 202950] Re: [Hardy] GMD's language doesn't change when using another default language

2008-03-24 Thread Sebastien Bacher
The login banner is a system one, it can't know what user is going to
login next so it uses the system default language. You can change this
setting using the language selector. Now if you are going to log in,
select a language, it's easy to guess that the user on the keyboard
wants to get this language used and gdm suggest reloading the banner in
the locale you are interested using so you can understand the option.
That's not because one user has decided to try some other locale than
the system default should be changed for everybody though, this option
only takes effect for the current session

[Bug 97655] Re: dmraid45 target please

2008-03-24 Thread MrFuzzemz
Stavros--
You may know this already, but in case you don't:

you can load the module at startup by adding it to:
 /etc/modules

As for mounting at boot, you must add an entry to your
/etc/fstab
This should include the filesystem and read/write permissions.

Hope it helps!
Can you confirm that it is indeed RAID5?

Thanks

[Bug 205796] Re: Importing photos f-spot-import

2008-03-24 Thread Pascal De Vuyst
It is better to report two seperate issues in 2 seperate bug reports.
Your second problem has already been reported as bug #205767.
Take a look at that bug report and provide the information requested.

** Description changed:

  Description:Ubuntu hardy (development branch)
  Release:8.04

  f-spot:
Installed: 0.4.2-0ubuntu4
-
- Problem 1:

I have a problem importing photos in hardy. Importing photos does not start
automatically!
Upon inserting SD card in card reader card automounts and icon is displayed
on Desktop. In window panel program Opening CANON_DC starts opening but after
couple of seconds it just closes (I have Import digital photographs when
connected checked). If I right click on Desktop icon and click Open with
F-spot photo manager the same thing happens. Also there is a blue ribbon in
nautilus saying The media contains digital photos. and there is a button
Open F-spot photo manager which does the same thing.
Only way to import photos is to start program and then click Import (can't
import movies - AVI this way) or start program in terminal with command
f-spot-import (this way I can import movies - AVI).

  Card reader - lsusb:
  Bus 003 Device 003: ID 058f:6362 Alcor Micro Corp. Hi-Speed 21-in-1 Flash
Card Reader/Writer (Internal/External)
-
- Problem 2:
-
- Importing from camera does not work.
- I have Canon A520 and it is recognized as Canon digital IXUS 50 (normal
mode) - this is the only option in Import window in F-spot. When starting the
import I get
- Error connecting to camera --- Received error Could not claim the USB
device while connecting to camera
- There is no drive automounted so I can not access any file from camera
through USB.
-
- Camera - lsusb:

[Bug 201736] Re: Hammering via ssh crashes Ubuntu Server

2008-03-24 Thread Aero9000
Hi there,

Here's is another (and sure) way to crash the server. During the boot
process hammer the server with the keyboard, i.e. repeatedly press a key
during the start of Ubuntu (I used Caps Lock). Seems to crash it every
time. Just to be sure it wasn't a bad keyboard I had attached, I removed
the keyboard, powered off and powered on the server and hammered it via
SSH --- dropped to initramfs. :-(

I'm using hardy version. But I don't think the issue is that, because we
already had lang packs updates since this issue appeared, and even after
Ubuntu translators claim that the translation is OK.

[Bug 205944] Re: Connect to server - location is already mounted

2008-03-24 Thread Crispin Flowerday
Why ? I haven't asked to mount a server, I've asked to connect to it,
the fact that it is already mounted shouldn't really affect anything, I
should still get a window opening showing the contents of the server.

This is different from the other bug in that if the consensus on the
other one is that it is fine, then at least the menu item here should do
the right thing.

[Bug 205940] Re: Places menu shows x-nautilus-desktop

Perhaps it was a bug in a very old version of nautilus (I'm thinking
2.12 or 2.14) - I can obviously just remove the line but probably
invalid lines in there should be ignored anyway ...

Re: [Bug 205969] Re: cannot even install the OS 8.04 beta

2008-03-24 Thread Kozelos
i dont know, i am not so experienced user. but on my laptop i can see
partitions as sda1 and sda5, then others linux based by its names. but here
my 160GB seagate IDE drive isnt being recognized as partitioned. i cant see
any tree showing how is the drive splitted to partitions. i tried manual
option and that shows tab where sda1 is showed and there are only two
options - to go back and leave without changes or make new partition table.
i tried it and still ignores how windows use partitions..i will try again to
specify it

and in fact my lcd 1024x768 starts every time as 1200x768 and i cannot
change it. when i set 1027x768 and clicky apply changes the screen starts
blinking and picture is moving from left to right like frames in movie..

[more entries, referring to the ubuntu dropped attal-themes-medieval source
package).

Ubuntu changes and why these can be dropped:
  * package an old cvs checkout from 2006 and incorporate the -themes package
in attal (first one is obsolete, second one didn't make sense in the first
place imho).
  * switch packaging to cdbs
  * update maintainer fields (no longer necessary)
  * fix FTBFS for hardy (builds fine with the new version)

Remaining delta, that might be worth it:
- * install desktop file for attal-client and attal-server (not too sure to
keep a delta for only a desktop file, as attal comes with a menu file for
-client, -server and campaigns)
+ * install desktop file for attal-client and attal-server (delta for only a

[Bug 205998] [NEW] intel video driver is buggy in games

2008-03-24 Thread Christophe Dumez
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

I'm playing a few openGL games on Ubuntu. They used to work fine on
Gusty (using default i810 driver) but I get a lot of graphical artifacts
since I upgraded to hardy (and new intel driver). This makes the games
quite impossible the play because graphical bugs are numerous.

The games I tried are enemy-territory (and TCEtest mod) and CS 1.6 (with
wine).

how is the option to go in the other direction revelent? The other
options about don't concern the range. But you are right, the choice can
be confusing, though replace all does what the label describes, there is
not restriction about the direction or the selection there

[Bug 40702] Re: Way too much orange icons

2008-03-24 Thread Jane Silber
I just upgraded to 8.04 LTS (Hardy) Beta and think this is an issue
again. I am not presenting this from a personal taste I like/don't like
orange perspective, but from a functional perspective I believe we have
lost a lot of usability. For example, compare the following set of
icons, all of which often appear in the top panel:

Firefox
the generic folder
update notifier
crash report icon
tracker

All have orange as the primary colour. Some are meant to convey a
warning or notification status (update notifier, crash report), while
others are simply functional (Firefox, Tracker, Folder). I question
that interpretation of a tangerine theme to mean that all icons should
incorporate that colour. It seems things have swung so far in the
orange/tangerine direction that much of the information conveyed by an
individual icon has disappeared.

Cheers,
Jane

[Bug 205999] [NEW] Attachments names using ç are not correctly sent by Evolution (ATTnum ber.dat)

2008-03-24 Thread Effenberg0x0
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ uname -a
Linux effenberg-mobile 2.6.24-12-generic #1 SMP Wed Mar 12 23:01:54 UTC 2008
i686 GNU/Linux
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ evolution --version
GNOME evolution 2.22.0
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$

Attachments sent from Evolution to WIndows boxes using Outlook or
Outlook Express are converted to ATTnumber.dat files, if the letter
ç is used in the attached file name. This is fully reproducible here,
in all our machines running fully updated Hardy. This problem persists
for at least two weeks now.

-ç.xls, ç.doc, ç.ppt, ç.pdf, ç.gif, etc are received as ATTnumber.dat.
-c.xls, c.doc, c.ppt, c.pdf, c.gif, etc are received normally.

I have not extensively tested this with other letters peculiar of the
Brazilian Portuguese language, such as áéíóú, à, ã, âêô and ü, but since
it dosn't support ç, there may be problems with using this letters
too.

Regards,
Effenberg
