2008-10-19 Thread cyprian43
Log and output of lspci in attachements

Yes you need turn off your computer, and turn on and load system again.
Just reboot is not enough i guess.

Additional info. Laptop is not fully hung up. Sound of moovie is still
running. Keyboard doesn't respond. Mouse pointer works but is useless,
clicking doesn't work.

[Bug 205420] Re: Partition Name showns wrongly in Places Menu/Nautilus

2008-10-19 Thread komputes
I agree, I think the user should have a choice of naming all the
partition in media "disk-#" or by label, but this would give too many
options to the user and gnome is mainly trying to have more simplicity.
I think the reason it displays the size is due to a limitation, not
being able to read the label until the partition is mounted. I may be
wrong.

[Bug 286001] [NEW] Incorrect resolution when docked on Dell Latitude E6400

2008-10-19 Thread Kai Jauch
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

I'm using a Dell Latitude E6400 (Intel 4500MHD) with a docking station. When
booting up while docked, the external monitor is enabled but using the wrong
resolution. When booting undocked and then docking the laptop, the correct
resolution for the external monitor cannot be set.
LVDS is the internal display, HDMI-1 is the dvi-output of the docking station.

Using Ubuntu 8.10 beta (updated it today) with xorg 1:7.4~5ubuntu1.

Expected behaviour:
- Boot the laptop while docked, lid is closed
- External monitor is enabled using its native resolution (1600x1200)
- Internal display is disabled

Actual behaviour:
- Boot the laptop while docked, lid is closed
- External monitor is enabled using the internal display's native resolution
(1440x900)
- Internal display is enabled

Expected behaviour:
- Boot the laptop while not docked, lid open
- Internal display is enabled
- Close lid, dock the laptop
- External monitor is enabled using its native resolution (1600x1200), internal
display is disabled

Actual behaviour:
- Boot the laptop while not docked, lid open
- Internal display is enabled
- Close lid, dock the laptop
- External monitor is not being enabled, its native resolution is not listed by
xrandr

So there are three problems:
- When docking/undocking the monitors are not automatically enabled/disabled
- The native resolution of the external monitor is not being listed when
docking after an undocked boot
- The wrong resolution is set for the external monitor when booting docked

[Bug 254413] Re: [needs-packaging] Instantbird in Universal in Intrepid

2008-10-19 Thread Fabien Tassin
debs for hardy and intrepid are in my PPA.

This is not usable in Debian as it depends on two Ubuntu specific packages:
 - xulrunner-1.9.1 (planed for Jaunty)
 - mozilla-devscripts (in since Hardy)

mozilla-devscripts is required to use the "build-system" that we ship in our
xulrunner since 1.9.0.* in Intrepid.
This makes that kind of packages easier to achieve. That's what I called xulapp
packaging in the Ubuntu Wiki.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make

didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read "How
to report bugs effectively"

if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at

[Bug 286009] Re: update manager distro upgrade problem hardy

2008-10-19 Thread IanW
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we can't fix it because your description
didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read "How
to report bugs effectively"
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures

At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

[Bug 187671] Re: sdhci module hangs Everex StepNote 2053T

2008-10-19 Thread JenniferHodgdon
If you follow the instructions and get the latest Ubuntu installed,
everything works except the SDHCI card reader (currently -- even that
may shortly be fixed). So you will have a full X-Windows GUI, all kinds
of software, etc.

Here are instructions on how to install, using the "Alternate" install CD that
you can download from Ubuntu:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-source-2.6.20/+bug/90271/comments/42

I have my Everex laptop set up with only Ubuntu on it, so I am not sure
about setting up a dual boot Windows/Ubuntu system or resizing NTFS
partitions. Good luck with that!

[Bug 286014] [NEW] kde print ignores duplex & copy options

2008-10-19 Thread Benjamin Kay
Public bug reported:

When printing in KDE 4 (Kubuntu 8.10 Intrepid Ibex Beta), print options
like duplex and copy number are ignored. For example, if I try to print
two copies of a two-page document from Okular with duplex enabled, I end
up with only one copy and no duplex. Print options are also ignored by
Konqueror and, I suspect, probably all KDE 4 applications. This is a
regression from KDE 3 in Kubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron. If this bug isn't
unique to my printer, then it ought to be a release blocker unless it's
impossibly difficult to fix.

I'm using system-config-printer-kde 0.11, KDE 4.1.2, from the Kubuntu
8.10 Beta CD on an x86_64 machine. The printer in question is a Brother
HL-5250DN using the BR-Script3 PPD.

[Bug 277339] Re: No sound (HDA Intel Sigmatel STAC9200) Intrepid Beta

2008-10-19 Thread Richard Elkins
No sound at all from every Gnome and KDE application on a circa-October 2007
Intel iMac running ibex as of 2008-10-19 up-to-date. The issue must be below
the application and desktop, maybe in module snd_hda_intel.
alsa-info.sh output:

 http://www.alsa-
project.org/db/?f=a3dda34a7a281f46a89ab87c72975601ae499a47

Everything else in ibex works just fine. Installed very clean as an update:
update-manager -d.
Looks like an improvement for 8.04 for iMacs.
E.g. Power Management is PERFECT without any local mods to
/etc/default/acpi-support for the fglrx driver.

Contact me if you think of a specific experiment you would like me to
try with regards to sound.

I would probably be able to produce another patch for ufw, init-script

being able to reject, not drop, traffic though can make problem-solving
rather time-consuming in some cases.

[Bug 205895] Re: [Hardy] Wine 100% cpu usage

2008-10-19 Thread jdsampayo
Thanks Tyler,

For me this solved the problem, I only downloaded the i386 deb from your

then run dpkg -i wine_1.0.0-2eitri1_i386.deb

It showed me that needed winbind, and some wrong dependences with samba-
common:

"winbind: Depends: samba-common (= 3.0.28a-1ubuntu4.5) but 3.0.28a-
1ubuntu4.4 is going to be installed"

A simple apt-get -f install solved the problem.

[Bug 286015] [NEW] gimageview doesnt let you scroll in "Album" view

2008-10-19 Thread fritz276

It is not possible to scroll within the main window (e.g. where all your
pictures are) - in "Album" view. If you change the view to "Details" or
"Details+Icon" you can scroll. If you then switch back to "Album", you
cant scroll again.

I dont know if this has anything to do with:

(gimv:13529): Gtk-WARNING **:
/build/buildd/gtk+2.0-2.14.4/gtk/gtkwidget.c:4826: signal "GimvZAlbum

Please look into that, I was so happy to see gimv working again since

[Bug 286018] [NEW] [Intrepid] dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg results in an unusable X (no output) when two monitors are connected

2008-10-19 Thread Loïc Martin
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

Running dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg on a computers with two
monitors attached to one Nvidia (7900GS) graphic card results in a
configuration with no X output and some garbled consoles (console n°1
works though, but goes over the bottom of the screen, and the cursor
stays on the top left corner).

This is the same kind of configuration that results in Bug #277724
However, this problem is more serious because it hoses a working system, and
normal users wouldn't be able to solve the problem (whereas they're the kind of
users one would advise to run dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg if they had
trouble with their configuration).

[Bug 285988] Re: gnome-mplayer crashed with SIGSEGV in g_markup_escape_text()

2008-10-19 Thread Cesare Tirabassi
Hi Fabio, thanks for reporting this.

Unfortunately (or fortunately) I can't find any reference to gnome_mplayer
in the backtrace. Could you try to reproduce this crash? If you can, you could
also install the gnome-mplayer-dbg package and manually take a backtrace (see
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Backtrace for instruction).
You may also want to try the newest version (0.8.0) to see if this also
crashes, you can install it it from my PPA:

Thanks for you help.

[Bug 272806] Re: file:// not registered with nautilus

2008-10-19 Thread SEAQ - Andres Mujica
i'm marking this as confirmed thks to Stefan.

I'm not pretty sure if the problem lies in there, but you can try
reinstalling desktop-file-utils from hardy, the package can be grabbed
from this url:

http://packages.ubuntu.com/hardy-updates/i386/desktop-file-
utils/download

After that try

sudo update-desktop-database
sudo update-mime-database

and restart your session.

and let us know if that worked

thks

[Bug 272176] Re: Can't input chinese in Kubuntu 8.10

2008-10-19 Thread Benjamin Kay
Same problem with Japanese input via the anthy input engine. Using
Kubuntu 8.10 (Intrepid Ibex) Beta on an x86_64 machine, installed
Japanese language pack, and manually started skim. The skim
configuration panel indicates that the anthy input method is enabled,
but pressing Ctrl+Space doesn't do anything in any KDE application
(Kate, Konqueror, etc.). Also, left-clicking on the skim panel icon
brings up an empty list; it's supposed to bring up a list of enabled
input methods.

KDE 4.1.2
skim 1.4.5-4ubuntu3
scim-anthy 1.2.4-1.1
anthy 9100e-3.2ubuntu1

[Bug 286014] [NEW] kde print ignores duplex & copy options

2008-10-19 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

[Bug 267932] Re: Panel Launcher Crashes when Network File is Opened

2008-10-19 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal
with as a '.crash' file. Please follow these instructions to have apport report
a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer.

If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport
in /etc/default/apport and restart.

If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch nautilus
and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on the crash report
you wish to submit.

If you are using Kubuntu or Xubuntu you can file the crash using
/usr/share/apport/apport-qt --crash-file=/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash in a
terminal - where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report.
I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will
automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently.
Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.
