[Bug 805853] Re: AVI and SWF insertion on Impress fails
Thanks Fabian! I already see your point, I though when VLC is installed, the codec is also included. Which is my mistake. :) Sorry about misfiling this question into the bug section. First time to use this portal. :) With regards to SWF, I'll just file another case on the bug section and upload a sample SWF file. Again many thanks! [Bug 771905] Re: No logo at boot on nvidia card
Bit confusing this. I reversed the changes to the system. Then double checked /etc/default/grub. This line was commented out, I must have done this I guess at some time. GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT=quiet splash However I was seeing a plain aubergine background for 20 secs then text very briefly then the login. I've uncommented the line. Updated grub and now I get this. Plain aubergine background as previous then a very brief Logo and dots. Then login. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/771905 Title: No logo at boot on nvidia card To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/plymouth/+bug/771905/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 491940] Re: Patch for LTSP clients to properly reboot/shutdown
Sorry, no idea. We're using only LTS releases here, and I'm kinda pressed time-wise this year, so I won't be able to test with recent versions of the involved packages until Ubuntu 12.04, if it's still a problem then. The LTSP task mainly referred to LTSP_LOGOUT_ACTION (commit http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~ltsp-upstream/ltsp/ltsp- trunk/revision/1481), so yeah, either invalid or committed will do, until gnome-session can provide a method to notify the caller (LDM, xinit...) about the selected action (logout, reboot, shutdown). Another approach is to at least make indicator-session policy-kit aware, so that it doesn't display the reboot/shutdown menu items at all: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/indicator-session/+bug/474392 From a user's perspective, that's not as good as fixing gnome-session, because then the user loses logout/reboot/shutdown functionality from the menus. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/491940 Title: Patch for LTSP clients to properly reboot/shutdown To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-session/+bug/491940/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 346386] Re: [MASTER] Update fails with invalid package files with Encountered a section with no Package: header
I don't get this. I thought debian packages where signed? How could a hotel's wireless inject data into your system? Public bug reported: If I am having problems with network manager, which I have filed as ~799114 and install WICD, WICD does not function until network manager is removed (even if network Manager is not running). [Bug 802660] Re: ALC670 5.1 surround not recognized properly on Acer Aspire 8943G
Well, adding that into the file ~/.pulse/daemon.conf (that in fact didn't exist before) made pulseaudio something irresponsible or what. The system volume control shows speaker with --- and is not able to launch sound settings saying Waiting for response from the sound system. I also tried speaker-test and only the front left and front right worked with this configuration, other speakers were muted. It also printed an error message at the beginning of the output: E: daemon-conf.c: [/home/lukaschmela/.pulse//daemon.conf:4] Neplatná mapa kanálů front-left, front-right, center, rear-left, rear-right, lfe. [Bug 804594] Re: reseed(8) performs HTTP fetch of data from random.org
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. I apologize for not responding sooner. I can confirm this issue and have given it an initial Importance of 'Low', based on the difficulty of properly timing the attack while also requiring MITM access. This can be re-evaluated if necessary. Since the package referred to in this bug is in universe, it is community maintained. As such, I have forwarded this information to the upstream author (as found in debian/copyright) and the oss-security mailing list: http://www.openwall.com/lists/oss-security/2011/07/06/8 Once a patch is decided upon, if you are able, I suggest posting a debdiff for this issue. When a debdiff is available, a member of the security team will review it and publish the package. Please see the following link for more information: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SecurityTeam/UpdateProcedures. [Bug 806479] [NEW] [USB-Audio - USB Audio DAC , playback] USB audio playback stops working randomly
Public bug reported: I have a custom build usb audio device from hotaudio.com, it works nicely when freshly booted, but when left silent (no playback), it stops working after some time. It does not matter if the sound was used or not. This is resolved by reboot. Unplugging and plugging the device back in does not help the issue. In sound settings, I can see the device, but in the output tab, there is only dummy output. Pressing the test speakers button closes the sound properties with no action (and no test sound).
