[Bug 1827042] Re: ThunderBolt "flaps" on laptop with 32G RAM

2020-11-28 Thread Dejan Prokić
I had this issue with ThinkPad X1 Extreme 3rd gen with Ubuntu 20.04 and
Thunderbolt 3 Dock gen 2. It got resolved when I plugged second power
adapter into the laptop directly. I have 135W adapters for both laptop
and the dock and thunderbolt cable for connecting them. There is
different type of the same dock called Thunderbold 3 Workstation Dock
and the difference is in cables and adapter only. It has stronger
adapters and the cable for connecting laptop and the dock has additional
power wire in it. I contacted Lenovo support in order to replace them.

[Bug 1874279] Re: failed to boot focal image in maas: /root.tmp.img: can't open blockdev

2020-10-14 Thread Dejan SANADER
Hello,

I got that kind of error too, but it was hardware related.

My NIC had PXE enabled but was not recognized by the kernel (igb & "NVM
Checksum Is Not Valid").

I had to boot with a live CD to confirm the NIC issue.

I tested this Gemalto under VMWAre Workstation on Windows VM and Client
App see the Reader and then Smart Card Info. So there is something
incorrect on the ActivKey support in pcscd?

[Bug 1879960] Re: pcscd doesn't support ActivKEy SIM B/N: 0945423

2020-05-25 Thread Dejan
This one is still working on Windows PC. And it was also working on
previous version of Ubuntu 19.04

I notice, that first time I plug it in, VMWAre Workstation with Windows
VM also see this in its USB device list. But then windows software just
can't read it. So, first time after reboot, Key even becomes Green, but
than when it try's to access it, it changes to Red.

[Bug 1879960] [NEW] pcscd doesn't support ActivKEy SIM B/N: 0945423

2020-05-21 Thread Dejan
Public bug reported:

I have ActivKey SIM B/N: 0945423 (from banking authorization) which is not
recognized by pcscd. Since it is not recognized, it is also not recognized by
VMware Workstation VM which runs Windows. Banking software running in windows
doesn't see the key and can't authenticate me.
Few years ago, this was working on Ubuntu 18.04, so it must be something in
version between.
After restart of the pcscd service, USB key shows green light, but few seconds
after it goes to red.

[Bug 1584479] Re: [MSI GP72 6QE Leopard Pro] acpi=off required to boot

2019-10-23 Thread Dejan
Hi,

here is the solution!

remove pnp_acpi=off and add acpi_iso=Linux
Booted into graphic mode and keyboard and touchpad are working, after 2.5 years

BTW, I am using Ubuntu 19.10 which has nvidia drivers OOTB.

Here is my full grub config:
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="nomodeset intel_pstate=enable"
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="nogpumanager acpi_iso=Linux"

I will test, if I can remove nomodeset and nogpumanager from the list,
since this were needed on 18.04 LTS...

[Bug 1584479] Re: [MSI GP72 6QE Leopard Pro] acpi=off required to boot

2019-10-23 Thread Dejan
Hi,

I have HP Zbook 15 with NVidia+Intel graphics.
I have enabled NVidia to have better performance (discrete in bios).
This requires pnpacpi=off in grub, for Ubuntu to boot into graphic mode with
nvidia drivers.

And I think this option also disables laptop touchpad and keyboard.
I don't see them in xinput.
Both of them work in BIOS and when you boot live image.

This all started with 18.04 and is the same in 19.04 and 19.10 with
5.3.0-19-generic

So, yes, this option is definitely a problem for laptops and nvidia
drivers.

Any workarounds? Except using external USB keyboard and mouse...

2018-02-28 Thread Dejan V.
Great! Thanks alot for your help.
I used “deb http://de.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ bionic-proposed multiverse
main universe restricted"
Then I installed the mentioned packages but still it did not work.
After I executed "sudo apt dist-upgrade" everything got better. I could start
my desktop again.

[Bug 1630245] Re: after starting ubuntu 16.10 -- no keyboard, no mouse

2017-08-25 Thread Dejan
Hi,

I have encrypted disks and at the start of boot, I need to enter passwords.
With Kernel 4.10.0-32-generic I can enter password using only my USB (logitech
wireless) keyboard and mouse. My laptop keyboard and touchpad does not work. It
works only in BIOS.
I tried to install kernel 4.11.0-14 and with this, even the USB keyboard
doesn't work when I have to enter disk passwords during boot.
xserver-xorg-input-all requires xserver-xorg-core. If I install this it will
remove lots of things:
sudo apt-get install xserver-xorg-core

The following package was automatically installed and is no longer required:

[Bug 1313539] Re: [DisplayPort] monitor shows black screen and "no input signal" after turning the monitor off and on manually

2016-10-17 Thread Dejan
If you are interested why DisplayPort doesn't work, but soon should ;-)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6301tGNs9Dc

What I understood from presentation, is:
- Intel graphics card don't work with DisplayPort 1.2 and 4k monitors, because
there is no bandwidth?
- So, I should make my NVidia card working on my laptop ... HP Zbook 15

[Bug 1313539] Re: [DisplayPort] monitor shows black screen and "no input signal" after turning the monitor off and on manually

2016-10-14 Thread Dejan
Hi,

When is this going to be fixed?
I am planning to by new monitor and new monitors only have displayport or hdmi.
My laptop only has displayport and it will not work. BTW, I tested my laptop
with several monitors through displayport and none is working.
Laptop: HP Zbook with Intel and NVidia graphics on Ubuntu 16.04 latest.
Using Intel graphics, since NVidia doesn't work correctly on boot (another
bug...)

[Bug 1254102] [NEW] Bluetooth doesn't connect after upgrade to 13.10 (Connection Failed: Stream setup failed)

2013-11-22 Thread Dejan Jovanović
Public bug reported:

I recently upgraded to 13.10 (from 12.04) and my Bluetooth is now
refusing to connect to the speakers. Previously both my USB bluetooth
dongle and the internal bluetooth used to connect no problem.

When I try to connect the speakers beep (as they usually do when a
connection is established), but then they immediately disconnect with a
message Connection Failed: Stream setup failed.

It's a ThinkPad x230 Tablet, and I've upgraded the BIOS for this
occasion (doesn't help)

[Bug 902296] Re: Sharing of cups-pdf queues into the network does not work

2012-11-11 Thread dejan
Had same issue on 12.04 (/usr/lib/cups/backend/cups-pdf failed). Problem
solved by creating folder cups-pdf inside /var/spool/ or put this line:
mkdir /var/spool/cups-pdf inside /etc/rc.local. This will create folder
on every boot.

[Bug 1050843] Re: scaling_max_freq always on lowest

2012-09-15 Thread Dejan
I couldn't measure gradualy between 50% and 90%, but somewhere in that
range, I could change frequency again.

The problem with this bug is that if I work on batery, after some time I
can't get performance and everything starts to slowdown. Firefox starts
to use 150% of cpu (1,5 cores) and if I start vmware workstation with
any VM running, every tasks takes half an hour.

[Bug 1050843] [NEW] scaling_max_freq always on lowest

2012-09-14 Thread Dejan
Public bug reported:

Hi,

I have HP EliteBook 8440p with quadcore CPU, using Ubuntu 12.04 and Gnome-Shell
3 using two bateries.
I noticed following:
When batery comes under certain available power and/or when laptop is on power
adapter and bateries are charging, until bateries are over 85% (not sure
correct number), I can't change scaling_max_freq to maximum number.
It stays on lowest possible freq and can't be changed.
When bateries are over 85%, I can change this file.

vi says : E667: Fsync failed when I try to save the chages.
echo 2534000 scaling_max_freq doesn't say anything, it just silently does
nothing.
I am using performance governor.

This is my rc.local which I use to set frequencies and governour:
echo performance /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_governor
echo performance /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu1/cpufreq/scaling_governor
echo performance /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu2/cpufreq/scaling_governor
echo performance /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu3/cpufreq/scaling_governor

echo 2534000 /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_max_freq
echo 2534000 /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu1/cpufreq/scaling_max_freq
echo 2534000 /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu2/cpufreq/scaling_max_freq
echo 2534000 /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu3/cpufreq/scaling_max_freq

And here is my /etc/sysfs.conf
devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_governor = performance
devices/system/cpu/cpu1/cpufreq/scaling_governor = performance
devices/system/cpu/cpu2/cpufreq/scaling_governor = performance
devices/system/cpu/cpu3/cpufreq/scaling_governor = performance

devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_max_freq = 2534000
devices/system/cpu/cpu1/cpufreq/scaling_max_freq = 2534000
devices/system/cpu/cpu2/cpufreq/scaling_max_freq = 2534000
devices/system/cpu/cpu3/cpufreq/scaling_max_freq = 2534000

/etc/init.d/ondemand is disabled.

I changed all this files, because I got performance problems (cpu on maximum
when using firefox and laptop was draging).
Then I noticed that I can set cpu (with indicator-cpufreq) to more then minimum
freq, so I found out that my scaling_max_freq is also on lowest frequency.

[Bug 1048122] [NEW] X crashes during xscreensaver-gl running gpu lock

2012-09-09 Thread Dejan
Public bug reported:

Hi,

In the last few weeks (maybe even a month) I experience X crash. What I
noticed is that it crashes when xscreensaver is running. When X crashes,
I get back to login screen of lightdm.

I have EliteBook 8440p with Intel graphic card, so I think GL crashes
Intel graphic card or something...

I don't have /etc/X11/xorg.conf

I am using Ubuntu 12.04 with all updates.

[Bug 760347] Re: Minimize to tray missing tray icon in Ubiquity on 11.4

2012-03-08 Thread Dejan Milosavljevic
** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: luckybackup

Running 11.4 beta 1 plus updates, luckybackup minimizes to tray, but
there's no tray icon to recall it. Sort of just disappears, though I
  assume it's still running.
+
+ Running 11.10 and using Unity Desktop. The same: After minimizing
+ luckybackup to systray, there is no icon, it disappears. But it seems to
+ do the backup job in background. Pressing ALT + TAB doesn't show a icon
+ too.

[Bug 930743] [NEW] After sign in lightdm reloads and again asks for password, then preforms as expected

2012-02-11 Thread Dejan B
Public bug reported:

When lightdm screen emerges for the first time, it has some gibberish
black traces up on the left. After inserting password (always, even when
it's not right) it reloads in a clean lightdm, and then it works as
expected.

Release: Ubuntu 11.10
Version of lightdm package: 1.0.6-0ubuntu1.2
Expected: LIghtdm screen emerges, user inserts password and it starts a new
session with DE.
What happens instead: Lightdm screen shows up twice, user inputs passwords
twice.

[Bug 60442] Re: Dual / Two Batteries, shutdown on empty expansion battery. (GPM does not recognises second battery on hotplug)

2011-11-04 Thread Dejan
I have HP EliteBook 8440P. I can get additional battery out and nothing
happens, it works on Primary battery and says it has only 1:35 hours remaining.
When I add additional battery back in, it says it is now discharging Travel
battery and Primary is in state Charged.
So, yes, I can work only on Primary battery and connect/disconnect second
battery online. It doesn't go to suspend/hibernate. But when Travel battery is
discharged, my system says it will now go into suspend mode.

2011-11-03 Thread Dejan
Hi all,

This bug is not fixed after few years? I am using Ubuntu 10.10 with
gnome-power-manager 2.32.0. After first battery is empty it goes to
suspend/hibernate...

I am trying /apps/gnome-power-manager/general/use_time_for_policy false
to see if this will improve power-management.

Hi,

I think this bug has not been fixed. I have the same problem as kapetr.
Encrypted swap is not mounted, but manual swapon activates swap.

kapetr, did you opened new bug? Which number is it?

Thanks

[Bug 782984] Re: strongswan-4.5.0 has known bug: causes charon to crash: killing ourself, received critical signal

2011-09-20 Thread Dejan Oljaca
I've encountered the same issue. Crashes are slowing down the VPN
enormously as the connection has to be re-established. I'd be happy to
see a patched Natty release as well. As Georg mentioned, version 4.5.2
would be preferred.

This bug also removed googleearth and skype packages, which don't have
installation candidates (acroread is also missing), at least I think so.

Thanks for fixing wine and picasa (picasa needed wine)

[Bug 816635] [NEW] During upgrade of kernel - X doesn't start if you use nvidia

2011-07-26 Thread Dejan
Public bug reported:

Hi,

When I upgrade kernel (for last two times - from 3.0.0.5-3.0.0.6-3.0.0.7), my
X doesn't start because I am using nvidia graphic drivers and they are not in
kernel.
My workaround is to login as root (Alt-F1) and run command: apt-get install
--reinstall nvidia-current, which then incorporates nvidia driver into kernel.

Maybe dkms something would be enough to fix this problem.

Thanks

[Bug 791325] Re: NVIDIA disappearing title bar on Ubuntu 11.04

2011-06-29 Thread Dejan
Hi all,

I recently had similar problem: nvidia driver installed, additional drivers
shows that driver is activated but currently not in use which is not true,
ubuntu 11.04 x86_64
When I had active compiz, I didn't have title bar (it was missing). I finally
fixed this by going into cssm (compiz settings manager) and activated
Effects/Window Decoration. For Window Decorator I am using GTK Window Decorator.

So title bar reapired, but then I couldn't move windows or resize them
with mouse or with keyborad (Alt-Space, Move). I fixed this also going
into cssm and activating Window Management/Move
Window+ResizeWindow+several others.

So my problem was actually that compiz sometimes looses configuration!

2011-06-29 Thread Dejan
Hi Ilan,

yes, this is true. You can use Unity 2D or Ubuntu Classic without Compiz and it
doesn't have this problems with no titlebar.
I am still using Classic with Compiz, until Unity becomes better, or when Gnome
3 becomes more stable.

[Bug 600453] Re: [arrandale] [i915] DELL E6510: blank screen on boot (Intel GPU)

2011-02-03 Thread Dejan
For me, 2.6.38-rc2 and rc3 from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/
is working OK for me. I get screens on both monitors (internal and external),
or only internal if I don't have external monitor connected. I have HP
Elitebook 8440p with Intel graphic card.

But I have also installed git Intel driver from this ppa:
https://launchpad.net/~glasen/+archive/intel-driver and x-updates from
here https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat/+archive/x-updates

This changed how xrandr see internal display. It is no longer DP1, it is
eDP1 now, and external is VGA1.

[Bug 709640] [NEW] ActivIdentity key not working in VMWare Workstation

2011-01-29 Thread Dejan
Public bug reported:

Hi,

Here is my situation: I am running Ubuntu Maverick x86_64 on an laptop with
Intel graphic driver. On Ubuntu I am using VMWare Workstation 7.1.3 to drive
Windows 7 to be able to use ActivIdentity USB keys which are used (in my
company) to connect to VPN.
I have set VMWare and installed pcscd package. With installation of pcscd, I
got visible Virtual Activekey Sim 00 00 with Activekey_sim in VMWare.
Without pcscd I don't have this Virtual part, which is the part I connect to
VM. So to be able to use ActiveIdentity USB key in VM, I connect Virtual
ActiveKey Sim 00 00 after Windows has started.
In VMWare VM's name.vmx I think I have set the following to be able to get
the functionality:
uhci.syncWriteback = TRUE
usb.generic.allowCCID = TRUE

On kernel 2.6.35-24-generic, this is working fine.

But on kernel 2.6.38-020638rc2-generic from ubuntu kernel ppa, this is
not working. I need key to work on this kernel, because one nasty bug
with Intel graphic card is fixed
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/600453 and
upstream https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=29278)

How I see the bug? When I connect Virtual Activekey Sim to the VM and
start using the key, by trying to login to VPN, my VPN software just
reports problem with the key. If I try to use the key with IE (or
Firefox) to login, the login screen last for minutes and finally
timeouts. On the key led is just changing color, until I disconnect the
key from the VM.

What I see in the /var/log/messages is the following, while I am trying to use
the key:
Jan 29 08:22:28 drodiger1 pcscd: commands.c:1338:CCID_Receive() Can't read all
data (55 out of 54 expected)
Jan 29 08:22:28 drodiger1 pcscd: ifdwrapper.c:722:IFDTransmit() Card not
transacted: 612
Jan 29 08:22:28 drodiger1 pcscd: winscard.c:1675:SCardTransmit() Card not
transacted: 0x80100016

This messages are repeated until I disconnect the key from VM.

This problem is also visible on kernel 2.6.36,37 and 38.
If this bug is related to kernel and not pcscd package, you can move it.

Thanks
Dejan
