[Bug 983416] [NEW] Online accounts and Contacts Manager should now integrate with Empathy but it is impossible to make it work
Public bug reported: *Reporting this as a bug as per advice on Questions. This is all the info I have though. No idea which application or service is responsible, let alone what package or development team.* Problem: Online Accounts, the Contacts Manager, and Empathy are supposed to work together now. But adding a Google account is still confusing and messy. Reproduce: Figure out how to add online accounts (there is no visible item in system settings, a known bug). I came across it by trying to manage contacts via Empathy which led me to Contacts Manager. Issue: The Online Account won't connect. You still need to go to accounts settings in Empathy to add the password. What happens: Empathy keeps forgetting the password, even when that option is ticked -- you would in fact expect Online Accounts to remember and provide it, since you authorized it with Google. Final bug: In the end, connecting to Google from Empathy with an Online Account is all but impossible. What I expect: Some clarity at least, and information on how these three services tie in. Additionally, information on how these services account and contact information online, is a mystery. As a user I've no idea what is going on, and how changing groups, for instance, has an effect on my groups on Google proper. I also have no idea what the difference is between a regular Empathy account, or one added via Online Accounts (except that the latter doesn't work). The entire process is utterly confusing (and I've been using Ubuntu for a good five or six years now). Workaround: The best workaround for now still seems to be: forget about Contacts and Online Accounts and just add the account through Empathy. Solution? It ought to be fixed or ditched. If Precise is going to go to market in 15 days, as an LTS (!) how is this ever going to get addressed (problem predates Precise)? ** Affects: empathy (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: precise -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/983416 Title: Online accounts and Contacts Manager should now integrate with Empathy but it is impossible to make it work To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/empathy/+bug/983416/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 833368] Re: clustered lvm commands fail with activation/monitoring=0 is incompatible with clustered Volume Group error
I rebuilt the lvm2 packages from source and removed the monitoring- default-off.patch. clvm now works as expected. I believe, the patch, which defines DEFAULT_DMEVENTD_MONITOR -1 is not compatible with the location where this error occurs: toollib.c in the function get_activation_monitoring_mode. I used this patch with oneiric for a drbd/clvm/gfs/kvm cluster. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/833368 Title: clustered lvm commands fail with activation/monitoring=0 is incompatible with clustered Volume Group error To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lvm2/+bug/833368/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
CLVM expected to work in oneiric?
Hi all, I am trying to set a cluster using gfs2 with underlying clvm and drbd in dual primary mode. This works fine in principal, but the clvmd seems to have problems: I always get: activation/monitoring=0 is incompatible with clustered Volume Group xyz I wanted to start drbd and clvm at boottime. So when I boot the system the volume group is not activated and the filesystem not mounted. Even worse when I shut down the system: clvm does not deactivate the volumegroup and drbd is unable to set the resource to the secondary state, resulting in a system hang. So my question: Is clvm expected to work in oneiric? Or any older version? The bug related to this failure seems to be https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lvm2/+bug/833368 but it is not actively worked on as it seems. Yes, please provide an easy to find method to switch it on. It took me some googling to find how to enable it, and it was not obvious at all, that it was intentionally disabled. [Bug 947892] [NEW] Scrolling ncurses app in xfce4-terminal with mouse wheel not working
Public bug reported: Affects: oneiric ocelot, precise pangolin vte which xfce4-terminal is based on has a feature to send an application which is using the alternate screen a few cursor up and down keystrokes when the mouse wheel is activated. Most prominent application is the pager (more or less) and in particular when used by man for manpage viewing. Now not all ncurses applications are happy with that feature, e.g. when running screen and a shell inside screen, activating the mouse wheel would scroll the shell history instead. That resulted in a patch to vte (still present in vte3_0.31.0, patches/93_add_alt_screen_scroll_toggle.patch) that made the feature toggle-able. The patch was never accepted upstream. It also changes the default behaviour by (probably accidentally) setting the feature to off. The result of the patch simply is an new function that can be called to toggle the feature. Now every package in ubuntu that uses vte needs a patch to eventually call that new function, otherwise its behaviour will differ from upstream. gnome terminal does so, the patch is still in precise (patch 20_add_alt_screen_toggle_ui.patch) xfce4-terminal should as well. The provided patch will add a hidden Property, that can only be set manually be editing ~/.config//Terminal/terminalrc and adding the line MiscScrollAlternateScreen=TRUE The old version of my patch made xfce4-terminal segfault when closing the Preferences screen. This version fixes that. The new version also uses a different name because the new version of xfce4-terminal insists on using the Misc Prefix for hidden preferences (i.e. not changeable via the GUI) The patch is tested with no ill effects on my desktop and I do use terminals a lot. Please include this patch into precise, so the LTS release does not suffer from this bug. ** Affects: xfce4-terminal (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/947892 Title: Scrolling ncurses app in xfce4-terminal with mouse wheel not working To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xfce4-terminal/+bug/947892/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 781164] Re: mouse scroll in xfce4-terminal when running vim (man, info) doesn't work
Please reconsider. I am the author of the original patch and found out that it needed to be rewritten for xfce4-terminal-0.4.8. The crashes (segfault when closing the preferences dialog) are gone. Ubuntu uses a modified vte. And it is modified in a way that changes the default behaviour (bad). So all applications that use vte need to be modified as well to support the vte modification. [Bug 358796] Re: mouse scroll in xfce4-terminal when running vim (man, info) doesn't work
I can confirm that the problem persists in oneiric with xfce4-terminal 0.4.8-1. However applying my old patch to the current source and installing the result fixed the problem for me. To recap: 1) Ubuntu compiles libvte (Source package vte) with some patches, one of them is the 93_add_alt_screen_scroll_toggle.patch, which makes the scroll alternate screen with mouse-feature runtime configurable. In upstream, the feature is always on, this patch makes it off by default but the feature can be turned on by an appropriate method 2) xfce4-terminal in oneiric (0.4.8-1) comes without any patches to upstream. As upstream does not use a patched vte, they of course did not merge ubuntus fix for the alternat screen scroll. 3) Applying my patch below adds a hidden (i.e. can not be set by GUI controls) configuration item ScrollingAlternateScreen, so entering the line ScrollingAlternateScreen=TRUE in ~/.config/Terminal/terminalrc will tell xfce4-terminal to switch the scroll alternate screen feature on. 4) Apparently xfce4-terminal reconfigures itself when ~/.config/Terminal/terminalrc is edited while it is running, so I can confirm that entering the line with FALSE will switch off alternate screen scrolling and reverting back to TRUE switches it on again. The feature can easily by tested by using less as a pager, then calling man bash (or any sufficiently long manpage) and activating the scroll wheel in the window. IMHO, the vte patch 93_add_alt_screen_scroll_toggle.patch is done wrong: Making an upstream feature (alternate screen scroll) configurable may be a good idea, some people may not like it, so it's a matter of personal preferences. But making it switched off be default, and by that changing all applications (terminal emulators) that depend on the lib is clearly wrong. ** Patch added: Patch to enable scroll alternate screen https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xfce4-terminal/+bug/358796/+attachment/2700051/+files/10-scroll-alternate-screen-configurable.patch -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/358796 Title: mouse scroll in xfce4-terminal when running vim (man, info) doesn't work To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/xfce4-terminal/+bug/358796/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 358796] Re: mouse scroll in xfce4-terminal when running vim (man, info) doesn't work
Rolf, I do not know, why the patch did not fix the problem for you. Did you verify, that the sources have really been patched? (I don't know how to convince the build system to apply the patch during fakeroot debian/rules binary, so I applied it by hand) Did you really install the newly build package? And (most importantly) did you close all instances of xfce4-terminal before trying again? *** This bug is a duplicate of bug 823775 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/823775 Happened out of the blue (don't remember if I did an online update yesterday) to me on Oneiric today: logged in, had an empty desktop saw lots of ECRYPTFS_ objects in my Personal Folder. Rebooted, all files in the standard folders seemed to be gone. At closer inspection, I noticed that all those folders were duplicated. #20 fixed it, thanks! [Bug 296867] Re: empathy needs to support OTR encryption
+1 I am tired of pidgin and very interested in Empathy. But i depend on OTR, so i cannot switch. I know 5 others in my local geekosphere who have the same. OTR is unaware of the layer below. That makes it clumsy or unelegant to implement for an individual protocol like XMPP. But at the same thime this is a strength: a multi-protocol IM client with OTR has end-to-end security with the same key pair on all protocols used. And that is elegant again :-) Calling that broken by design is a narrow view and missing the point of OTR. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/296867 Title: empathy needs to support OTR encryption To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/empathy/+bug/296867/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 887440] Re: Firefox hangs in Oneric
I got the same problem here, so by now, I am using the firefox nightly build which behaves much better, but isn't as responsive as firefox 7 on natty in comparison. Chrome woks fine with oneiric, seamonkey does as well, only ff7 does not. One thing that might influence this is a client x509 certificate. We use this to authenticate against an internal Apache. This appears to be a workaround: host64:/var/lib/apt/lists$ sudo rm * host64:/var/lib/apt/lists$ sudo rm partial/* The files will be redownloaded at the next apt-get update. I would agree that if Ubuntu ships in this configuration by default, then the rkhunter settings should be adapted accordingly. [Bug 865107] [NEW] networkmanager does not detect GSM modem status correctly
Public bug reported: Description From nils 2011-10-03 07:27:59 (-) [reply] Version: unspecified OS:Linux When traveling by high-speed train, the modem connects and disconnects often, and switches from UMTS to GPRS etc. Often the reconnecting and switching works. Sometimes the modem is not connected though (light on solid meaning there is a network but no connection) and the network manager reports that it is still connected. Version: haven't tried it with the kubuntu beta, but older versions hat this problem. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: Connect the modem, travel by high speed train, wait :) Actual Results: KNM reports connection when there isn't one Expected Results: KNM recognised dropped connection and reconnects KNM possibly needs to actively confirm the status from time to time? I assume that events are lost somewhere when the connection state changes too frequently. A manual Reconnect option would be good to force the state. ** Affects: knetworkmanager Importance: Unknown Status: Unknown ** Affects: knetworkmanager (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Bug watch added: KDE Bug Tracking System #283223 http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=283223 ** Also affects: knetworkmanager via http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=283223 Importance: Unknown Status: Unknown -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to knetworkmanager in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/865107 Title: networkmanager does not detect GSM modem status correctly To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/knetworkmanager/+bug/865107/+subscriptions -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-b...@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs
