I like Windows. They do have some very interesting features. I love
the windows 7's new organizing features. It makes good sense.

Second - i think you need to distinguish between puns, humor & poking

Finally I did not invent the M$ vulnerability or the news but i am

Hey what about UID? More than a billion unique identities!!
How much money can be saved if FOSS products are used for this ( add
security as a bonus)!!

I am planning for an RTI then, but first I will check if it's not already
there.

And yes, please don't make this an anti-anything or hate forum. Better
refrain from getting into a discussion relating to the stuff you hate.

Cheers!!

And also the CAT examinations last year which were completely ruined because
of a Widows virus. And I don't know if this is entirely true, but I heard
from a good programmer that the virus was more prone to unauthorized cracked
versions of Windows. Kudos to commercial software.

Windows is good. Its not a bad operating system at all. Especially Windows
7. I finally dual-booted with Windows 7 (because I got it as a gift, and
because I got a new computer with good graphics which could play my dream
games) and was fairly impressed with everything. But then the reason why
linux was secure began to become apparent again. Windows had pushed to far
into being 'user-friendly' and in this process instead of being a friend to
the user it was more of an 'idiot-proof' operating system. A very clear 'bad
security' example is that the administrative privileges. You can delete any
number of Windows system files without any use of a password. You can never
do that in any Linux distros, take the example of our awesome Ubuntu. This
is just a basic example of Linux being more secure.

The second being open source. I read this awesome article about how a black
hat hacker would try to make a virus. He has the whole code in front of him,
but so do the ten thousand programmers. He tries to find a flaw to exploit,
thousands find that same flaw and write the fix overnight. Go Open Source!

Being open source also ensures that the product goes through rigorous
testing before being deemed as stable. Its so cool the way it works.

2. German government warns against using MS Explorer
> http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/8463516.stm

They also said that moving to another browser like Firefox will make you
more vulnerable and MS IE is still the most secure browser. '"Its just one

See, thats the thing they just use the people like Mark Antony in Julius
Caesar (just felt like mentioning this). Most people will still trust
Microsoft because they are the most popular. And Microsoft uses this to
propagate their products and defame linux and other competitions so that
they stay on the top as opposed to working hard to fix problems to stay on
the top.
As much as Apple's policies are against Linux and other things I believe in,
they give me other reasons to absolutely love them whereas Microsoft does
not.

Just hope that big companies start developing linux versions too. Even if
they are commercial like games. It will help Ubuntu to grow.

Yep, but the difference is in, as an example, having a home full of
open windows and doors and by default not even having locks [aka M$

to start to leave things unlocked (Linux)

The new M$ mantra is "life without walls" tfm* - what they really mean
is life within a gilded cage and you pay for the gold and the cage.

tfm = trade Effing mark

Hey Ram,

First of all, nothing is secure - this is the key.

No Idea what MS IE 8 has in terms of security.
But I totally agree with you, India is not really geared towards progress in
atleast IT. Politicians, who are just about to die like a over-ripped
mangoes on tree, who never used computer decide the thing. Also, many times
I got the impression that the person in power to decide/sign these govt
implementations in IT are just influenced by who is the repr, and what dream
are shown to their eye$$.

Almost all the things that are any-way directly connected to Govt lacks:

   - Proper Implementation
   - Even Half completion
   - No creativity
   - ... too many, i am running out of time.

Indian Govt needs some fresh people. From different professions. Not for
administration, but to suggest them and show them the mighty light. Well,
what we can do, just wait, wait and wait till these mangoes just drop off th
tree.
They invest $ for MS Office package. Why they don't use OOo, maybe they
don't know. They don't trust. OOo.org can't pay hefty sum to the decision
maker in govt body. Jyotish-shastra predicted not to use the Office package
brand starting with O.

They spent on products, whereas they should have invested in research and
implmentation for a secure environment and data storage using Opensource.
You may not be knowing, most govt controlled/attached/funded centers use MS
Word to create their webpage, and they just host. :) This just get me pissed
on even thinking about it. But hey, India is great and will be a SuperPower
in next 15 years. That is what they are busy calculating.
