Hello Dan,

Yes, I sure that we'd certainly like to do something with you. I think the
most interesting angle to take regarding your PBX, is about what value-add
has drawn you to make the step from Ubuntu, across to Debian. Perhaps you
could highlight what makes Debian/Ubuntu to be such a good building-block to
start from for your solution.

If you're also deployed the embedded product within any organisations; could
you talk about how using Ubuntu indirectly (and perhaps not even knowing
it!) has saved the entity money or improved their business.

Perhaps for balance you could also discuss what parts of Ubuntu have _not_
worked well as those are also signs of places for improvement. Any
intriguing photographs would be interesting aswell!

It's good to hear about product!

Belgium and just got a 30 euro sales and import tax invoice today from
 Belgian customs.

(a) This should be appealable. (b) System 76 might be willing to help with
that---it'd be worth asking them if nothing comes from talking to the
customs people.

But, more on-topic, it would be great if we could somehow have a list of
what to do or not to do when sending/receiving internationally, to avoid
such problems as much as possible.

Providing a (genuine) estimate of the price of the good (eg. probably $10 in
this case?) is a good start.

Maybe Canonical (shipit) or some other people have some experience with
this, and they can share that experience?

The outside of the shipit boxes contain an introduction about the CDs and
that they are to be given away (free promotional marketing
materials) along with a small value per CD (0.13EUR).

The text is similar to the customs introduction letter at:

Hello Vid,

Also, it might be interesting to discuss what The Fridge's purpose
should be and how it fits in with plans for Ubuntu Magazine.
How about using this platform to publish the Ubuntu-Abanta* Magazine.

This sounds like an excellent idea---I'm hoping to see as much content as
possible land up on El Fridge so that people know that it is the place to
look *first*.

BTW, I didn't know whether the name has been decided upon, but I think that
'Abanta' comes off the tongue really well and also in English hints at the
conversation ('banter') going on in the background.

Re: [ubuntu-marketing] What would an Ubuntu poster campaign say?

Greetings Chris,

The campaign would seek to get both home and business users interested
 in Ubuntu.

The ones that immediately come to mind as being close to the current style
of marketing are:

  a) 'Think Different' - Apple
  b) 'United colors of' Benetton

Both give the opportunity for simple slogans, backed by powerful and
beautiful images and famous faces (there's already the Mandela video on the
LiveCD...)

'Freedom' is the easiest point to sell in that style, but for other people
the turn-on will be 'free (zero cost)', 'secure', 'virus free', 'with
Firefox as standard', 'faster', 'every six months', for other people, the
tagline is the amazing screensavers or the included wallpapers.

Out of interest, do you have URLs to the erroneous results you were
seeing; this results should definately be improved if they're giving
problems. What were the terms you were using to try and locate the team?

Hello Zach,

I just wanted to share a couple of Ubuntu success stories, and just a
couple more things to add to the list of why I love using linux.

These are great---and it's even better to know what's working for you and
it's a shame to miss great stories like these two (on MP3 Splitting and
getting your Scanner).

So... I've taken your quotes and put them up as Testimonials:

  http://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testimonials/ZachC_Scanning
  http://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testimonials/ZachC_MP3_Splitting
  http://wiki.ubuntu.com/CategoryTestimonial

I think if links are kept to the original stories, the testimonials could do
with some fairly extreme editing.

Apple used to have their famous Switch campaign at:

  http://www.apple.com/switch/

ZachC: if you are happy or think this is something that Ubuntu should be
doing, do you have a photo that could be added to the testimonials?
