Hi! I did try load the web (http://start.ubuntu.com/9.04/). I was changing the Language in Preferences to "es" and to "ast". I was changing the general.useragent.locale to "ast", "ast-ES" and "ES-ast"... Nothing works :( I think is an issue between asturian locale and the code of the home web. Where can I see the code of routing to one language or other? I'm only handling the translations and I'm not an xhtml/css guru.
Hope someone will dedicate some time for fixing this problem before the
release. Patch welcomed :)

The correct Ubuntu Start Page is http://l10n.ubuntu.tla.ro/ubuntu-9.04-start-page/index.html.ast I don't understand why your link goes to a semi-untranslated page. Adi, thank you very much for your work. The start page looks perfectly
translated into Spanish. However, the Search button ("Buscar", in
Spanish) is still overlapping the right border. This is the opened

Before accepting any translations from you, they will ask you to print a disclaimer, sign it and them mail it to them... in US :). We are open to any suggestion for improving the translations process, but in the same time we don't want to compromise the translations quality. Yes, but this is the start page, not the offline page. I agree that in the current state, the page is pretty useless, as all links are on the web. Meanwhile we could look at the current status of localized version of help.ubuntu.com. I find it amazing that in the last few posts in ubuntu-translators we have seen such dedication to Closing groups and making them inaccessible to people that just want to join in for a while and then move on. I can't help feeling that this is directly against the OpenSource philosophy. Also i find it remarkable that people are so hugely dedicated to making sure that Ubuntu only has american. Sure there are some parts translated into some other languages and those parts are probably great examples of craftsmanship or great art. Meanwhile most of Ubuntu can only be read in American-English. I really think things need shaking up and radically new thinking needs to be implemented to Open this up as what we currently have and the attitudes it encourages are at odds with the rest of the OpenSource Community. Please tell me we have someone working on opening doors rather than just on closing them. A few people are doing a huge amount of work and i'm sure this ungrateful outburst is the last thing they deserve to hear. The fact that we have got something this far this fast and the fact that we do have so many thousands of strings translated at all is extremely impressive and is almost entirely down to the work of a very few people who deserve medals imo. In the future, there could be a minimal translatable Participate page in ubuntu.com with links to local pages, which could be quite nice with the current URL also. Hi, This is the script used for translating the start page: https://code.edge.launchpad.net/~adiroiban/ubuntu-start-page/translation-script-8.10 I have done it for 8.10, but right now there are not many changes in 9.04. Now the Search button should be translated and RTL text direction set for the following languages: he ps ar ur . If there is any other language with RTL please let me know.
