[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 383345] Re: [i945GM] dual screen not working with virtual resolution enabled: just a blank screen with a mouse pointer
There is some confusion in here by a few of the other posters (not the original reporter that knows about the limitation). The 2048x2048 3D texture limitation is a _hardware_ limitation, it has never worked under compiz with a virtual above 2048x2048 on intel chip older than 965. It used to be possible to use higher virtual sizes if you removed accel support but that has been broken under KMS since it came out. Try booting with i915.modeset=0 added to grub until the patch supporting it under KMS lands Lucien, it should still be possible to use 2048 virtual sizes (without accel) under UMS with the git20090702 driver thats currently in karmic. -- [i945GM] dual screen not working with virtual resolution enabled: just a blank screen with a mouse pointer https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/383345 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is the registrant for xf86-video-intel. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 398183] Re: intel driver seems to have lost tv output quirk
It is the case that with KMS the quirks have all been reimplemented. They're moved out of the X driver into the kernel itself. In the process, the quirks are redesigned to work a bit differently, and so some changes in behavior are to be expected. For example, the code is now better at detecting if loads are actually present. So in general as long as the changes aren't causing new kinds of problems, they don't need to be worried about. I'll close out your bug, but feel free to reopen it if you suspect the change has caused an issue for you. ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = Invalid -- intel driver seems to have lost tv output quirk https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/398183 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 400128] [NEW] [karmic] tty console is not using full width and height of 1400x1050 screen
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Hardware: Samsung X20 Laptop The text in the tty consoles is small an crisp, as if the full 1400x1050 resolution (or something similar) were correctly set, but only the top and left three quarters of the physical screen height and width are actually used, the rest remains black. (Measuring with a ruler, it actually seems like about 73% of the physical width and height.) No text is lost or invisible, it's just as if the system took the top-left rectangle of 1024x768 physical pixels of the actual 1400x1050 screen and then pretended that this 1024x768 area was in fact the whole screen on which to draw the tty console contents. (I can not tell for certain it's a 1024x768 rectangle but that would correspond to the about 73% I measured.) The tty consoles have 48 lines of 128 columns. Note: The X server correctly uses the whole screen at the full 1400x1050 resolution, no problem there. ** Affects: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- [karmic] tty console is not using full width and height of 1400x1050 screen https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/bugs/400128 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. I have classified this bug as a bug in xserver-xorg-video-intel. For future reference you might be interested to know that a lot of applications have bug reporting functionality built in to them. The problem does not occur if Compiz is disabled (which is why I normally run with Compiz disabled). It's a matter of the video card running out of texture memory, if I understand correctly. Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 350503] Re: System (64 bit ) hangs in ubuntu 9.04 Beta
Hi Bryce, I am not sure how ubuntu team is fixing the problems reported, i mean what is the process? A bug was reported but I was being asked multiple times to test with newer versions without actually understanding what would have caused the bug at the first place? IMHO, simply going to a newer version of some driver would not mean the problem is auto-magically fixed. I have only one desktop machine, and when fedora 11 comes i installed that and put the latest nvidia driver in FC repository, the problem still persists so I decided to go back using noveua nvdiia implementation which is running perfectly so far. The problem is in newer versions nvidia driver ( 173.x ) itself, someone has to examine the dumps and find the problem and fix and then ask to test the new version. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 346645] Re: [jaunty] elantech touchpad does not scroll
I saw this issue on a Zepto Znote 3215W on Jaunty and Karmic. I think this is due to a new driver for the Elantech touchpads. In older releases (without the driver) they operated in imps compatibility mode - the workaround forces them into this mode. Scrolling at the side of the pad stopped working but two-finger- scrolling works now by default. Could you test whether that is the case in your configurations, too? [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 399070] Re: [i845] Ubuntu 8.10, 9.04, and 9.10 Alpha2 does not install
Mr. Bryce Harrington, following your request I downloaded again the ISO image as suggested. Unfortunately, the live CD does the same thing. After copying the files to the PC, the same Red window appears on a black screen with written in OUT OF RANGE on a Black screen. The Black screen stays on and then the Ubuntu anthem is herd and nothing also. I am attaching the requested Xorg.0.log as requested and later the dmesg of my 8.04 installation. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 382159] Re: [g45] (Needs kernel 2.6.31-rc1) Xorg freeze after resume (UXA bug) (KMS bug)
Aha - Jason since just restarting compiz gets things going for you, I think you have a different bug. Since others on this bug report say the issue is gone with the newer kernel I'm closing it. Freezes are often difficult to tell apart. I would recommend anyone else seeing freezes to file a new bug, rather than assume they have a dupe of an existing one. ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = Fix Released -- [g45] (Needs kernel 2.6.31-rc1) Xorg freeze after resume (UXA bug) (KMS bug) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/382159 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 384937] Re: [i945gm] Unexpected X-server restarts on system with Intel 945GM
Well, next I'd like to forward this issue upstream, but first it must be retested on latest development version of Karmic to make sure the issue still happens there with the latest code. ISO images are available at http://cdimages.ubuntu.com/releases/karmic/. If you can reproduce it in the LiveCD environment, you shouldn't need to modify your installed system.
