[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 400934] Re: [i945] (UXA) Intel Corporation 82945G/GZ Integrated Graphics Controller [8086:2772] (rev 02)
On Karmic i386 (up to date as of 10/25/09) with a Foxconn Atom barebones. After logging in to gnome, I have a lockup within 5 seconds of a compiz effect, 3d effect (screensaver or other 3d app) appearing on the screen. Removing compiz from the system and disabling 3d screensavers avoids the lockup. -- [i945] (UXA) Intel Corporation 82945G/GZ Integrated Graphics Controller [8086:2772] (rev 02) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/400934 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 462393] [NEW] [Karmic] Sony Vaio VGN-C260E laptop freezes when external monitor is plugged in
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel I'm running Karmic, 9.10, on a Sony Vaio VGN-C260E laptop, using an Intel driver (see lspci output below). My computer is completely freezing under two circumstances: 1. I connect an external monitor after the laptop is already booted up 2. If I boot the laptop with an external monitor attached, it works properly (output is to external monitor, not to laptop display). However, if I attempt to switch between the external monitor and laptop display using the Fn-F7 hotkey, it will switch to displaying on both displays. If I hit Fn-F7 again the laptop freezes. No ctrl+alt+backspace/esc/delete/Fxx does anything. I have to hard power down Note -- if I properly turn off the external monitor (using system- preferences-display), I can disconnect it just fine and use the laptop display. If I then attempt to plug in a DIFFERENT external monitor, I get the same behavior as in 1. >From reading around, it looks as though this is related to the xserver- xorg-video-intel package, and that people have had similar experiences. I list this as a new bug because it seems I'm having slightly different behavior, and with different hardware. sudo lspci [sudo] password for sdavis: 00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/PM/GMS, 943/940GML and 945GT Express Memory Controller Hub (rev 03) 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/GMS, 943/940GML Express Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03) 00:02.1 Display controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/GMS/GME, 943/940GML Express Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03) ** Affects: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: external fn freezes hotkeys monitor ** Summary changed: - Computer freezes when external monitor is plugged in + [Karmic] Sony Vaio VGN-C260E laptop freezes when external monitor is plugged in -- [Karmic] Sony Vaio VGN-C260E laptop freezes when external monitor is plugged in https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/462393 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

I don't see the value in changing it and it should surely have been done upstream instead. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 462307] [NEW] XOrg freezes when playing mpeg2 file with mplayer and i965 xvmc
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel First I can watch videos (and the mpeg2 file I used to get the freeze) using textured Xv with no problem. It is my first try with i965 xvmc and mplayer support for it so I cant compare with anything. Also the freeze is "total": no mouse pointer, no keyboard, no ctrl-alt-Fx, but I cant test a remote session so I dunno. Let me know if there is a way to run Xorg inside gdb (but with no remote session) to pinpoint something more precise. Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu 9.04. updating from "xserver-xorg-video-intel_2:2.9.0-1ubuntu2~xup~1_i386.deb" to "xserver-xorg-video-intel_2:2.9.0-1ubuntu2~xup~3_i386.deb" caused the mouse pointer to be invisible after boot under gdm. Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 351186] Re: [M76] [ubuntu 9.04] slow unminimizing with ati card and desktop effects enabled
I agree that felix's patch is superior (apparently the empty buffer's load faster than the ones containing random memory contents, besides the already discussed security and aestethics aspects), but at least for me, i'm experiencing memory leaks with both alternatives. Incidentally, i seem to observe a higher memory leaking with newer X versions as karmic release approaches than in jaunty or firts karmic betas... do you think that a memory usage test in a virual machine will do any good? i can set up a couple of vms and leave them running to see memory usage patterns... [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 462168] [NEW] dual monitors not working on upgrade to karmic
Public bug reported: Hi All, I have a Geforce GT8600 graphics card that was working well with dual monitors (two individual X servers) in Jaunty. On upgrade to Karmic I am unable to get the dual monitors working. I have tried nvidia-glx-180, nvidia-glx-185 and nvidia-glx-180-dev. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 441112] Re: Got black screen when set to dual monitor mode
Such a grave regression should at least have a priority assigned since the day it was noticed by a developer. As usual ubuntu does not handle regressions with the intel driver at all. I strongly suggest the original reporter to go directly to the intel bug tracker. Not that they are particularly responsive on bugs related to the VGA out (my previous laptop died before they pronounced a sole word on the bug, but after I spent hours reporting them all the needed logs). But at least, it will be a barrier less. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 461999] [NEW] Severe artifacts with Mobility M6 and XAA
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-ati (Note that the autosent xorg.conf has workarounds) When using a nearly-empty/please-autodetect-everything Xorg.conf, on Karmic RC, on ATI Radeon Mobility M6, no composite manager, I am getting severe artifacts in KDE --- the plasma panel and window manager decoration are entirely unpainted, just basically white with some noise. Turning off the composite extension (even though cm wasn't on) fixes Plasma but not kwin. Switching to EXA removes major[1] problems, but is extraordinarily slow --- any animation, like say in kickoff, is just unusable, and Xorg often uses 100% CPU. [1] There are some occasional black lines on top of text, but rare and not affecting system usability. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 461975] [NEW] [RS960] Broken sync and Nokia 800 Pro+
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-ati This is a quick bug drop before the Karmic release about yet another bug with the radeon-killer monitor Nokia 800 Pro+ about which you can read more in bug 298094. While the latest radeon driver from the ubuntu-x-swat x-updates PPA for Jaunty worked fine (1:6.12.2-0ubuntu1~xup~1 it seems), the switch to Karmic broke it again. Lucky me, the radeonhd driver works like a charm. This time, the sync seems to be totally messed up. I saw this on Jaunty as well (I think it was with radeonhd though), it looks like flirring lines of colorful pixels and the monitor image is jumping like an heartbeat. The description of bug 20283 sounds similar. Have a look at the attached Xorg.log.old which uses the radeon driver without any xorg.conf while Xorg.log uses radeonhd. I currently don't have the time to investigate further, but next week. Any pointers are welcome as always :) ProblemType: Bug Architecture: amd64 Date: Tue Oct 27 15:17:31 2009 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 9.10 MachineType: Acer Aspire L5100 Package: xserver-xorg-video-radeon 1:6.12.99+git20090929.7968e1fb-0ubuntu1 ProcCmdLine: root=/dev/mapper/lvm-sys ro iommu=noaperture quiet splash ProcEnviron: LANGUAGE= PATH=(custom, user) LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.31-14.48-generic RelatedPackageVersions: xserver-xorg 1:7.4+3ubuntu7 libgl1-mesa-glx 7.6.0-1ubuntu4 libdrm2 2.4.14-1ubuntu1 xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.9.0-1ubuntu2 xserver-xorg-video-ati 1:6.12.99+git20090929.7968e1fb-0ubuntu1 SourcePackage: xserver-xorg-video-ati Uname: Linux 2.6.31-14-generic x86_64 XsessionErrors: (polkit-gnome-authentication-agent-1:10525): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_once_init_leave: assertion `initialization_value != 0' failed dmi.bios.date: 04/14/2008 dmi.bios.vendor: Phoenix Technologies, LTD dmi.bios.version: R02-A1 dmi.board.name: FRS690L dmi.board.vendor: Acer dmi.chassis.type: 3 dmi.chassis.vendor: Acer dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnPhoenixTechnologies,LTD:bvrR02-A1:bd04/14/2008:svnAcer:pnAspireL5100:pvrR02-A1:rvnAcer:rnFRS690L:rvr:cvnAcer:ct3:cvr: dmi.product.name: Aspire L5100 dmi.product.version: R02-A1 dmi.sys.vendor: Acer fglrx: Not loaded system: distro: Ubuntu architecture: x86_64kernel: 2.6.31-14-generic ** Affects: xserver-xorg-video-ati (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug -- [RS960] Broken sync and Nokia 800 Pro+ https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/461975 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-ati in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
