[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 559039] Re: X Crashes when enabling second monitor
I don't believe this is fixed, as I still see it on Kubuntu Lucid on an X60 (this is with xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.9.1-3ubuntu5). I have a Dell monitor plugged up that I'm trying to add as right of the X60 screen at 1280 x 1024: Backtrace: 0: /usr/bin/X (xorg_backtrace+0x3b) [0x80e937b] 1: /usr/bin/X (0x8048000+0x61c7d) [0x80a9c7d] 2: (vdso) (__kernel_rt_sigreturn+0x0) [0xf57410] 3: /usr/lib/dri/i915_dri.so (0xf58000+0x20a486) [0x1162486] 4: /usr/lib/dri/i915_dri.so (_mesa_execute_program+0x2a2d) [0x109f18d] 5: /usr/lib/dri/i915_dri.so (_swrast_exec_fragment_program+0x1a4) [0x1162724] 6: /usr/lib/dri/i915_dri.so (0xf58000+0x16640f) [0x10be40f] 7: /usr/lib/dri/i915_dri.so (_swrast_write_rgba_span+0x10b0) [0x10bfba0] 8: /usr/lib/dri/i915_dri.so (0xf58000+0x1805d2) [0x10d85d2] 9: /usr/lib/dri/i915_dri.so (0xf58000+0x159e5f) [0x10b1e5f] 10: /usr/lib/dri/i915_dri.so (_swrast_Triangle+0x2d) [0x10b105d] 11: /usr/lib/dri/i915_dri.so (0xf58000+0x18cdaf) [0x10e4daf] 12: /usr/lib/dri/i915_dri.so (0xf58000+0x18cdf5) [0x10e4df5] 13: /usr/lib/dri/i915_dri.so (0xf58000+0x125377) [0x107d377] 14: /usr/lib/dri/i915_dri.so (0xf58000+0x1269c9) [0x107e9c9] 15: /usr/lib/dri/i915_dri.so (_tnl_run_pipeline+0x163) [0x10726b3] 16: /usr/lib/dri/i915_dri.so (0xf58000+0x719fd) [0xfc99fd] 17: /usr/lib/dri/i915_dri.so (_tnl_draw_prims+0xc76) [0x1073406] 18: /usr/lib/dri/i915_dri.so (_tnl_vbo_draw_prims+0x79) [0x1073869] 19: /usr/lib/dri/i915_dri.so (vbo_exec_vtx_flush+0x5f4) [0x106b884] 20: /usr/lib/dri/i915_dri.so (vbo_exec_FlushVertices_internal+0x97) [0x10676a7] 21: /usr/lib/dri/i915_dri.so (vbo_exec_FlushVertices+0x50) [0x1067700] 22: /usr/lib/dri/i915_dri.so (_mesa_MatrixMode+0xdf) [0x102c1ef] 23: /usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions/libglx.so (0x6a+0x8d09) [0x6a8d09] 24: /usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions/libglx.so (0x6a+0x32324) [0x6d2324] 25: /usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions/libglx.so (0x6a+0x36c22) [0x6d6c22] 26: /usr/bin/X (0x8048000+0x2a477) [0x8072477] 27: /usr/bin/X (0x8048000+0x1ed7a) [0x8066d7a] 28: /lib/tls/i686/cmov/libc.so.6 (__libc_start_main+0xe6) [0x1f3bd6] 29: /usr/bin/X (0x8048000+0x1e961) [0x8066961] Segmentation fault at address (nil) Caught signal 11 (Segmentation fault). Hi. I upgraded to 2.6.32-24-generic via update manager. The machine then hung exactly as described in comment #49. I suspect the module build failed as I couldn't find it in the 2.6.32-24 modules when I booted using an older kernel. I then upgraded my NVidia drivers to 256.35-0ubuntu2~xup from PPA ubuntu X team as suggested in comment #47 (thanks VPablo!). [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 281454] Re: Laptop: external monitor not supported with SiS card
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected ** Description changed: Binary package hint: xorg Hi, here's my bug: I have a laptop with sis card, external monitor is connected. I installed 8.10 beta from live CD, I did clean install. On 8.04 I used to switch screen with fn+F12, so the laptop screen was black and I was using the external one. Now I have two problems: 1. After pressing fn+F12 the desktop goes crazy on both monitors (everything is rugged or cut or something :) ). 2. Screen resolution is limited to 960x...@60khz. Formerly I was able to use 1024x768 (@75kHz, as far as I remember). I can still use it if I disconnect the external monitor and reboot. After manual change of driver in xorg.conf to vesa the switch display shortcut on keyboard works well, but my resolution is still limited to 800x600. grandr detects only one screen, and the system panel screen resolution doesn't allow me to check the mirror screen box (I'm not sure but I think it should do what I want to) - it doesn't save it with checked status. My xorg.conf is now in the default state (almost empty), and here's my lspci report for graphic card: 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] 661/741/760 PCI/AGP or 662/761Gx PCIE VGA Display Adapter + --- + Architecture: i386 + DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.04 + DkmsStatus: Error: [Errno 2] No such file or directory + Lsusb: + Bus 003 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub + Bus 002 Device 002: ID 09da:0080 A4 Tech Co., Ltd + Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub + Bus 001 Device 002: ID 13b1:0020 Linksys WUSB54GC 802.11g Adapter [ralink rt73] + Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub + MachineType: DIXONSXP DIXONSXP + Package: xserver-xorg-video-sis 1:0.10.2-2 + PackageArchitecture: i386 + ProcCmdLine: root=UUID=ad728076-9eff-4aee-9e27-271cd6904bdf ro quiet splash + ProcEnviron: + PATH=(custom, user) + LANG=pl_PL.utf8 + SHELL=/bin/bash + ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.32-23.37-generic 2.6.32.15+drm33.5 + Tags: lucid lucid + Uname: Linux 2.6.32-23-generic i686 + UserGroups: adm admin cdrom dialout lpadmin plugdev sambashare + dmi.bios.date: 09/19/2005 + dmi.bios.vendor: American Megatrends Inc. + dmi.bios.version: 080011 + dmi.board.name: To be filled by O.E.M. + dmi.board.vendor: To be filled by O.E.M. + dmi.board.version: 1.0 + dmi.chassis.asset.tag: To Be Filled By O.E.M. + dmi.chassis.type: 3 + dmi.chassis.vendor: To Be Filled By O.E.M. + dmi.chassis.version: To Be Filled By O.E.M. + dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnAmericanMegatrendsInc.:bvr080011:bd09/19/2005:svnDIXONSXP:pnDIXONSXP:pvr1.0:rvnTobefilledbyO.E.M.:rnTobefilledbyO.E.M.:rvr1.0:cvnToBeFilledByO.E.M.:ct3:cvrToBeFilledByO.E.M.: + dmi.product.name: DIXONSXP + dmi.product.version: 1.0 + dmi.sys.vendor: DIXONSXP + system: + distro: Ubuntu + codename: lucid + architecture: i686 + kernel: 2.6.32-23-generic ** Attachment added: BootDmesg.txt http://launchpadlibrarian.net/52583511/BootDmesg.txt -- Laptop: external monitor not supported with SiS card https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/281454 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-sis in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
