[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 559039] Re: X Crashes when enabling second monitor

2010-07-27 Thread Carlos Corbacho
I don't believe this is fixed, as I still see it on Kubuntu Lucid on an
X60 (this is with xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.9.1-3ubuntu5). I have a
Dell monitor plugged up that I'm trying to add as right of the X60
screen at 1280 x 1024:

I have Google Chrome installed. Interestingly enough, if I close that,
then KDE seems less likely to crash when doing the resizing (may be
unrelated).

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 581673] Re: Thinkpad W500 doesn't resume after suspend with fglrx+Compiz

2010-07-27 Thread Zak
Upgrading to ATI's Catalyst 10.6 driver fixed this problem. I strongly
recommend that Ubuntu upgrade its fglrx package to this version or
later, as suspend/resume functionality is part of what I think most
people would consider a minimum standard of usability for a laptop.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 610387] [NEW] Lucid - Intel Integrated Graphics freezes when external monitor is plugged in

2010-07-27 Thread baben
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

I'm Running Ubuntu 10.04 LTS - Lucid Lynx on Dell Latitude E6410 ATG
Graphics card: Mobile Intel Integrated Graphics Media Accelerator X4500HD

Laptop freezes under two circumstances (external monitor is black in all
cases):

1. I connect an external monitor after the laptop is already booted up
and I open the display properties to set up the screen.

2. If I boot the laptop with an external monitor attached, the display
stays black and Ubuntu won't boot.

I've tried the following external monitors:
Samsung SyncMaster LD190
Samsung SyncMaster 2233BW

Found this bug for Karmic (Bug #462393).

- workaround with metacity --replace doesn't help.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 532436] Re: nvidia driver sometime does not load at boot

2010-07-27 Thread mitchelln
Hi.

I upgraded to 2.6.32-24-generic via update manager. The machine then
hung exactly as described in comment #49. I suspect the module build
failed as I couldn't find it in the 2.6.32-24 modules when I booted
using an older kernel.

I then upgraded my NVidia drivers to 256.35-0ubuntu2~xup from PPA ubuntu
X team as suggested in comment #47 (thanks VPablo!). I noticed it built
the module for the running kernel and then the new 2.6.32-24 kernel. I
rebooted and everything was fine.

installed succesfully. About other parts of the fglrx package I don't
know so far.

** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: xorg

  Hi, here's my bug:

I have a laptop with sis card, external monitor is connected. I
installed 8.10 beta from live CD, I did clean install. On 8.04 I used to
switch screen with fn+F12, so the laptop screen was black and I was
using the external one. Now I have two problems:

  1. After pressing fn+F12 the desktop goes crazy on both monitors (everything
is rugged or cut or something :) ).
  2. Screen resolution is limited to 960x...@60khz. Formerly I was able to use
1024x768 (@75kHz, as far as I remember). I can still use it if I disconnect the
external monitor and reboot.

After manual change of driver in xorg.conf to vesa the switch
display shortcut on keyboard works well, but my resolution is still
  limited to 800x600.

grandr detects only one screen, and the system panel screen resolution
doesn't allow me to check the mirror screen box (I'm not sure but I
think it should do what I want to) - it doesn't save it with checked
  status.

My xorg.conf is now in the default state (almost empty), and here's my lspci
report for graphic card:
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS]

Thanks...
XV does not work, with the newest revision that downloadable with:
svn checkout http://svn.openchrome.org/svn/trunk openchrome
(I think it's 846)

And without suspend, with Strg+Alt+F1 you can get a confused screen

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

Hi!

affects the single function ProcXTestFakeInput(), works as described,
and should be included in proposed 7.3 if possible.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 610541] [NEW] Screen corruption problem with some opengl apps and ati

2010-07-27 Thread Tournier Mathieu
Public bug reported:

With ati opensource driver, when i turn on desktop effects in kde, when some
effects are played (ex : wobbly windows) I see screen corruption in the windows
diplayed (but not in plasma-desktop background, that's strange). When i turn
them off all my desktop is displyed good.
Moreover, when I run bzflag (even without desktop effects) , all the content in
the foreground flashes.
I had the same bug with xorg-edgers repository for lucid as soon I try a kernel
= 2.6.35 (I forgot if this was in 2.6.34, but in 2.6.32 it worked good)

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 609725] [NEW] Firefox crashes Lucid Lynx on certain sites

2010-07-27 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Binary package hint: firefox

When accessing www.cyclingnews.com FF crashes, causing a complete shut-down of
Lucid Lynx. I then need to press the power-down button before I can re-boot.
Crashing only seems to occur on the main page of the site, and not on text-only
pages. Crashes are not solely confined to this site - the PC also crashes
sometimes when on the Firefox site itself.

May be related to Flash - does not seem to happen as readily since a
recent Flash install/update.

As I mentioned earlier, I built this kernel with that very patch with no avail
for rc410. If anyone wants to try this kernel from ppa and disprove it, let me
know. I saw the the patch and, as far as I can tell, the if () statement won't
even execute on my Toshiba with CHIP_RC410:
+   if(rdev-family == CHIP_RS480
+rdev-pdev-subsystem_vendor == 0x103c
+rdev-pdev-subsystem_device == 0x30a4)

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 585765] Re: Ubuntu 10.04 random freezes

2010-07-27 Thread Caroline
I seem to be having the same problem..but I can't even log into my
desktop. It seems to be freezing up earlier and earlier. The first time
happened right after I launched Firefox so I rebooted. Then it froze
while I was typing in my password. I rebooted. (The reisub keys weren't
responding.) Then it froze before right after the Ubuntu screen
appeared. I just installed 10.04 and it seemed to be okay, but the
freezing started after I downloaded updates.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 542731] Re: [gm45] Xorg crash - Failed to submit batchbuffer: No space left on device

2010-07-27 Thread Matt Dunn
This bug is still an issue. I had tried the PPA fix over 6 weeks ago,
but the bug continued crashing my xorg on a daily basis. I ultimately
disabled the repo. I got crashes twice in the past 4 hours, different
sites browsed with Firefox 3.6.6

My coworker and I each run 10.04, but I'm on Kubuntu and he's standard
Gnome. We're both impacted.

Is there any more information I can capture/submit when this occurs?

Thanks for your time and effort.
