[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 678048] [NEW] Ububtu 10.10 won't display on Toshiba Tecra M1 laptop
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg Ubuntu 10.10 works beautifully on Toshiba Tecra M1 laptop with an external monitor and no xorg.conf file. The system works well with the external monitor and any xorg.conf file that I tried after dozens of hours over 2 weeks, reading the forum posts and copying the recommendations. I always put the xorg.conf file in /etc/X11. The native laptop computer monitor displays only stripes of various widths and colors (unless the output is text only, then it displays OK). VGA compatable controller, Trident Microsystems CyberBlade XP4m32 (rev 91) Please help gain use of the native laptop computer monitor. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 433142] Re: geode driver do not display 1024x600 on (K)UNR Karmic
Frank, I have no idea why setting ret=7 in lx_panel.c did not produce any effect. However, I'm concerned that this is turning into a big ugly hack that will require people to compile their own driver, simply because setting the desired mode is now completely dependent upon being able to change a setting in the BIOS, which is not always possible. -- geode driver do not display 1024x600 on (K)UNR Karmic https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/433142 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-geode in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 662998] Re: System freezes when running on battery
i have the same problem with medion akoya e1210. in my case the culprit seems to be the wireless driver and its disagreement with some power management thing in the kernel. It uses the rt2860sta driver. When I disable networking the computer runs fine with 2.6.35 kernel, it keeps running fine when i enable ethernet, but as soon as wireless is enabled it freezes on battery within 5 minutes. -- System freezes when running on battery https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/662998 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-ati in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 678103] [NEW] Dell Inspiron N5030, Touchpad recognised as generic PS/2 mouse
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics It would seem that this bug is similar to the following although on different hardware: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input-synaptics/+bug/650529 Dell Inspiron N5030 running Ubuntu Maverick 10.10, kernel 2.6.37-020637rc2-generic. As stated in comment #20, touchpad blocks correctly, it is only a matter of the number of seconds the touchpad is blocked. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 661235] Re: live-cd boot does not work with nvidia ion (ZOTAC GeForce 9300-ITX WiFi)
I bought a new graphics adaptor to replace my old ATI one. The model I chose is a Gainward GeForce 210 1024MB DDR2 HDMI. Upon installing the new adaptor my Ubuntu 10.10 64bit system froze on reboot. I tried booting from the 64 and 32 bit CDs always producing the same result - freezing. After changing the grub command line options to nouveau.blacklist=1 (as suggested somewhere on the web) I could boot my system and install the NVIDIA driver instead which works fine, however, I no longer get a bootsplash. Consecutively I made it a default in /etc/default/grub to keep my system from freezing. GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT=quiet splash nouveau.blacklist=1 I did an lspic -vv, maybe it helps: 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation GT218 [GeForce 210] (rev a2) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) Subsystem: CardExpert Technology Device 1401 Control: I/O+ Mem+ BusMaster+ SpecCycle- MemWINV- VGASnoop- ParErr- Stepping- SERR- FastB2B- DisINTx- Status: Cap+ 66MHz- UDF- FastB2B- ParErr- DEVSEL=fast TAbort- TAbort- MAbort- SERR- PERR- INTx- Latency: 0, Cache Line Size: 32 bytes Interrupt: pin A routed to IRQ 11 Region 0: Memory at d000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=16M] Region 1: Memory at b000 (64-bit, prefetchable) [size=256M] Region 3: Memory at c000 (64-bit, prefetchable) [size=32M] Region 5: I/O ports at 9000 [size=128] Expansion ROM at d100 [disabled] [size=512K] Capabilities: access denied Kernel modules: nouveau, nvidiafb Anyway, I thought I might report this bug as a frozen system might be a real showstopper for any Linux newbies. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 346289] Re: Choppy Flash playback in full screen.
This bug has been present on my Karmic amd_64 setup from the start. It seems to affect most NYTimes videos, though most YouTube videos come out clean. I have tried all of the above fixes without success. I like some of the features of Compiz (e.g., Place Windows), and since disablng it does not improve my videos, I left it on. This is probably an underpowered machine (e.g., GeForce 6150SE nForce 430, nVidia drivers), but since I use Compiz, I apparently can't take advantage of better hardware acceleration anyway. I developed a crude workaround using Greasemonkey that enlarges the NYTimes' embedded Flash player by about 250%. (Find it at http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/90955 .) This gives me flicker- free, high quality video at an acceptable size. Comparing the results from my work-around to full-screen, I notice that I get the most flickering not during the fastest motion, but during the most sound. Perhaps this will suggest a possible solution strategy. -- Choppy Flash playback in full screen. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/346289 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 678163] [NEW] [K8M800] Openchrome driver hangs on Ubuntu 10.10
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-openchrome I have a machine based on an Asus K8V-MX motherboard which until recently was running Ubuntu Studio 10.04. Under 10.04, video was working fine. The other day, I did a fresh install of Ubuntu Studio 10.10 on this machine. After the install, the screen stayed black after boot, no login screen, no virtual consoles - the only way to reboot was using Alt+SysRq. I used the rescue mode to install the openssh-server so I could analyse the problem further. The next time round, I remotely logged into the machine and noticed that Xorg was using 99% of the CPU. Killing Xorg would result in a total hang of the machine. I then proceeded to force the VESA driver, which gave me a working X. Further investigation showed up https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-openchrome/+bug/660240 in which installing the latest driver version from http://www.openchrome.org helped. Hence, I tried that. Result: After downloading the latest openchrome driver (which is version 0.2.904), X was fully operable again. Looking at the Ubuntu 10.10 package for xserver-xorg-video-openchrome it appears to be version 0.2.904+svn842 - hence, it looks like the additional SVN patch added to the Ubuntu package has introduced some regression causing the driver to hang on this chipset. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 678192] Re: monitor resolution not found with intel driver
Hmm well it looks like you have a 945g which certainly is supported by the kernel modesetting driver, so I don't see a reason why it would fail unless something is wrong with your kernel installation. It's likely this is a kernel problem (either a bug or something with how it got installed on your system), but first would you please run the command 'apport-collect 678192' to attach logs that you didn't include in your initial report. Also, tell me if you're willing to try testing this on natty; if not, like if you're only interested in getting Ubuntu maverick working on your system one way or another, we should probably direct you to the technical support channels. (This bug tracker is for ubuntu development so we mostly focus on natty.) ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- monitor resolution not found with intel driver https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/678192 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 677968] Re: Error in $HOME/.profile halts the X startup
gdm would be where I'd start looking. Or look at the upstart rule that starts X; it includes some error handling logic that you might augment to cover this corner case too. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 678148] Re: Cannot boot with 2xHD5970 in crossfire on GA-X58A-UD7 motherboard
Fairly sure this is just lack of crossfire support in the open source radeon KMS drivers. But just to check, have you successfully booted crossfire in any other configurations or other versions of Ubuntu? In any case, now that modesetting is handled by the kernel, this is a kernel wishlist so I'm refiling there. However, this type of work is normally done upstream so it'd be better to file this bug at https://bugs.freedesktop.org/ against radeon. Also, when filing bug reports please attach necessary logs. A handy tool to do this after a bug is filed is apport-collect. Please run: apport-collect 678148 Thanks ahead of time. ** Package changed: xorg (Ubuntu) = linux (Ubuntu) -- Cannot boot with 2xHD5970 in crossfire on GA-X58A-UD7 motherboard https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/678148 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

fwiw, I'm still working on the packaging, not ready for public consumption. However I would be interested in hearing from people for whom the packages do in fact work. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 417132] Re: Driver for Tritton USB 2.0 to VGA adapter
No; the issue is that X auto-detection looks only at the PCI bus. It doesn't scan the USB bus for devices. So all USB2xxx type devices must be manually configured. Maybe someday someone will implement USB bus video device scanning in X.org but I know of no plans currently. -- Driver for Tritton USB 2.0 to VGA adapter https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/417132 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
