Follow these steps: * Right click the link to the 'mixxx' file I attached and do 'Save as..'. Save the file to your Desktop. * When the download is done look for mixxx on your Desktop, right click it and click on 'Properties'. * Go to the 'Permissions' tab and check 'Allow executing file as program'. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 685682] Re: Unity doesn't work with proprietary ATI drivers, but works with free drivers
I couldn't find release notes for the 10.12 catalyst driver online, however afaik hd4xxx and hd5xxx *should* work with the current natty setup, so this seems to be a legit bug. Since you're on i686, /usr/lib32 packages aren't relevant. But it's weird that it's displaying those warnings, perhaps update-alternatives is doing something inappropriate. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 626974] Re: ABI change in xorg 1.9 breaks legacy nvidia-96 drivers in Maverick
OK Alberto! Got Maverick almost working as per instructions of comment #137. Took a while, though. There are still some issues in Maverick, however, although they mostly are not related to this bug. There is one thing, however, which might be related to the instructions in #137: The Software Sources line has disappeared from the desktop, ie. from System - Administration. And because #137 instructs to edit the /etc/apt/sources.list, I wonder if the disappearance was caused by that. Copying the back-up file back to sources.list did not help. I can still get to the Software Sources through Synaptic (Settings - Repositories), but the direct link is missing. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 686388] Re: [i965gm] GPU lockup - Invalid GTT entry during Display B Fetch
pschonmann, one of the problems with the bug report is that apport is collecting your dmesg *after* you've rebooted, which is pretty unuseful; upstream wants the dmesg from when the system crashed. (Actually it collects both before and after but it overwrites the data on the second call.) I've spoken with pitti about this just now, and he's updating apport to preserve the original data. So, please update to current natty tomorrow, and then the next time you see this bug, let apport report it, and hopefully then it'll include the proper data upstream wants. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 696104] Re: nvidia 320m locks up
Thanks for the extra info Alex. Don't worry about the /sys files - nouveau doesn't actually place anything useful in those files (the -intel driver puts stuff there in case of gpu, which is probably why it was recommended to collect it). The file that we need is the output of 'dmesg' from while the system is locked up. So either reproduce the lockup or wait until it occurs again, then ssh into the box and run 'dmesg dmesg.txt' and attach that file. Next, after collecting that, please turn off 3D - uninstalling mesa-dri- experimental is probably the most sure-fire way of doing that - and then see whether you can reproduce the lock up. Guessing it will not lock up after that. If it *does*, then we can take the bug to upstream to look into (they don't yet give support for 3D). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-nouveau in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/696104 Title: nvidia 320m locks up ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 669417] Re: [Intel GMA500] Visual glitches and crash (Maverick and Natty)
As per comments #15 and #16 I'm closing bug as won't fix... we know it is an issue but the Ubuntu-X team does not have plans to enable it for natty. Regarding EMGD, since we will be shipping and supporting xserver 1.10 rather than 1.8, we're not going to be able to easily ship that at this time. There might be some way to jury rig it, but for now I think we'll wait and see if either an 1.10 compatible version is released by Intel or Canonical runs into OEM customer requirements for it. For now, I'd encourage maintaining it in a community PPA. (If you'd prefer to make it a sub-ppa of xorg-edgers that can be arranged, just catch Sarvatt or myself on IRC). If anyone figures out a way to get it working under stock natty xserver and kernel, then that might be something we could consider for Ubuntu. ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-psb (Ubuntu) Status: New = Won't Fix -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-psb in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/669417 Title: [Intel GMA500] Visual glitches and crash (Maverick and Natty) ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Cheers again for all the help Bryce. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/379313 Title: Handling NextWindow Touchscreen (multitouch) via the nwfermi (proprietary) driver ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 685682] Re: Unity doesn't work with proprietary ATI drivers, but works with free drivers
The description of the bug (wallpaper displaying properly, popup notices showing and hiding properly) indicates that X hasn't crashed or locked up, and suggest a window manager (compiz) failure. So I'm reassigning this to compiz for further analysis. It would probably help if someone could gather a full backtrace (with line numbers and such). Run compiz in gdb, and then use 'bt full' to get a full backtrace. ** Package changed: fglrx-installer (Ubuntu Natty) = compiz (Ubuntu Natty) ** Changed in: compiz (Ubuntu Natty) Importance: Undecided = High -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to fglrx-installer in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/685682 Title: Unity doesn't work with proprietary ATI drivers, but works with free drivers ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 659434] Re: Font/image corruption after resume from hibernate
As a followup to my confirmation above, I have found a solution and I don't experience this problem any more. Unfortunately, I'm not sure what I did. I didn't change any drivers that I'm aware of. I tried changing some settings and such, following recommendations I found on the net, but nothing seemed to work, so I avoided hibernating. Recently I sent the computer into hibernation mode by accident and upon resume, the issue was gone. I've since hibernated and resumed many times, including reboots, and I never have this problem again. I'm sorry I can't tell you what I did though... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/659434 Title: Font/image corruption after resume from hibernate ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
