[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 787781] Re: Touch screen does not work with single finger touch, Lenovo x220i tablet
Hi, I just tested the x220t with the 2.6.39-3 kernel. The result isn't what I expected. The curser doesn't jump to the 0,0 position anymore. But the mouse is not moving to the absolute finger position. You can move it by sliding with your finger over the screen (like the touchpad). Clicking works also (but on the positon where the mouse is and not at the position of the finger). [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 240738] Re: syndaemon sometimes fails to disable the touchpad
I just marked another 3 duplicates and agree that many people could be affected. I tested a Samsung SF510 with an Elantech touchpad where this bug really hurts: its palm detection is very unreliable. Finger clicks are detected if a palm is 3 mm *ABOVE* the touchpad surface! Even worse: the clickable left/right buttons are part of the touchpad! Their surface does move the pointer too and makes them nearly unusable. So users are forced to enable tapping to click, staggering again into this bug while typing. Many Samsung laptops or Asus EeePCs have Elantech touchpads and might be affected. Fixing this bug could ease such problems with bad touchpad drivers or hardware. @admin: please consider to raise the importance of this bug. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-synaptics in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/240738 Title: syndaemon sometimes fails to disable the touchpad To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input-synaptics/+bug/240738/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 771788] Re: nVidia driver activated and apparently being used but reported as not being used by jockey-gtk
does anyone with inside knowledge have an update for this? I've been limping along with fairly lousy video performance on my desktop machine, and I'm thinking about what to do next. my experience since switching to Ubuntu has been 99.9% positive, with quick resolution to any issues that have cropped up. this has kept my hopes up regarding this issue as well. but it's hard to know whether anything's in the pipeline here at all. I want to emphasize that this isn't a complaint. I haven't done anything to fix the issue, and I don't think I'd even know how to be helpful. and, in fact, I'm continually amazed at the quality of this operating system, top to bottom. and considering the price, well... [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 810494] [NEW] Hibernation screen glitch
Public bug reported: When I had an older version of Ubuntu, Ubuntu Netbook Edition, I used to put my computer in hibernate all the time. It would load back up fine. However, since the discontinuation of the Netbook Edition, I upgraded to Ubuntu 11.04 by just completely reinstalling. The new version promised it would work equally well on desktops, laptops, and netbooks and that was the reason for the new unified version. With the new version I had expected it to work just as well, but when It turns on and goes into the OS, all I see is a section of garbage on the left of the screen. This is unusable and I have to fix it by cutting power to the computer. I do believe this is a bug, but I am not sure that it is indeed X.Org's fault. It may be a glitch in the hibernation procedure. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 771788] Re: nVidia driver activated and apparently being used but reported as not being used by jockey-gtk
suratta, this is not a bug report on graphical performance issues, but just on jockey, that is the Restricted drivers application that helps you in installing proprietary drivers for your hardware if you need to. The issue is that the NVIDIA driver is being used but it does not show up as such in the Restricted drivers application (jockey). But in my case and other comments here we don't notice graphical performance problems. I think that if you want to get attention to your graphical problems you should look for the appropriate bug report to comment there, or open a new one if you don't find one. This will provide much more information to the developers than commenting on this bug, where your graphical problem may probably get not the right attention from them. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers-173 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/771788 Title: nVidia driver activated and apparently being used but reported as not being used by jockey-gtk To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/jockey/+bug/771788/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 771788] Re: nVidia driver activated and apparently being used but reported as not being used by jockey-gtk
Walter, Are you SURE its not a performnce problem? There are many people who report that the Gears app runs grindingly slow. My system ran very slow on graphical performance. It was no where near as crisp and smart as when using 10:10 (which I reverted to). Other reports are that the version of the module does not match the version of the OS, which would revent properloading of the module. As an nVidia developer (I use CUDA) I was on a code line that could not wait, which is why I reverted. I am somewhat tempted to upgrade again and see exactly what is happening at the module level. And if necessary, recompile the modules to see what happens. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 598627] Re: driver doesn't build for kernel not running
Hey Mario, The kernel I put together has the same packaging as the vanilla kernel, to the best of my ability, and as far as I can tell. It has been awhile since I have run into this, and I don't remember exactly what the issue was. Right now, the custom kernel installs fine, and uses the driver fine, etc. Looking that nvidia-current.postinst, this still looks like it will be an issue when the graphics driver is upgraded. nvidia-current.postinst only installs the driver for the currently running kernel. So anyone running more than one kernel will have an issue, not just those running a custom kernel. I completely understand that this affects only a small minority of users. I hope you don't mind that I will continue to use this bug to track whatever the best solution is. ** Changed in: nvidia-graphics-drivers (Ubuntu) Status: Invalid = Opinion -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/598627 Title: driver doesn't build for kernel not running To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dkms/+bug/598627/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 598627] Re: driver doesn't build for kernel not running
Hi Daniel, If you did the custom kernel with the vanilla kernel packaging, then you should be getting the kernel postinst.d scripts running. I recommend that next time you upgrade the kernel package, add a 'set -x' to the postisnt and record the output on the command line of the upgrade. We can see what happens when it tried to execute the kernel postinst.d scripts. It could be something as simple as a version string looking different than DKMS expects. ** Changed in: dkms (Ubuntu) Status: Invalid = Opinion ** Changed in: nvidia-graphics-drivers (Ubuntu) Status: Opinion = Invalid ** Changed in: dkms (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Wishlist -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/598627 Title: driver doesn't build for kernel not running To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dkms/+bug/598627/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 718858] Re: GPU hang using GL on x86_64
I don't think this is hardware related. I have seen it on a various laptops equipped with either Intel, AMD or nvidia video chips. I would rather say it is related to mouse gestures as this always (at least in my case) occurs when I'm using mouse intensively, mostly during web browsing (firefox, chrome - no difference). Also occurs frequently when I'm in netbeans. I have experienced this in 10.04, 10.10 and 11.04 and only while running gnome (Xfce never died that way). It's also worth to mention that I've never seen this on a desktop, so it seems to be a illness that affects only laptops. My solution is to login to text-based console (Ctrl+Alt+F1) and then restart gdm service. Once done, the problem is gone. At least till next time :) I would bet this is a bug in gnome display manager. stack trace is similar: I830PMEvent: Capability change [mi] EQ overflowing. The server is probably stuck in an infinite loop. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 810813] [NEW] Xorg freeze
Public bug reported: After a recent upgrade to latest (backports of) 11.04 on a Lenovo T410s, my external monitor is completely unusable. If I boot with it plugged in, I get multicolor flashing screen / unusable. If I plug it in after logging, the screen goes black and useless. If I unplug it to recover, I get a black responseless screen with an arrow cursor. I cannot recover and must reboot. Even if I log in with Classic, no effects, I get flashing junk screen if I plug in an external monitor. I'm back to early 1990s functionality now under the latest Natty updates.
