[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 410262] Re: [VX800]openchrome hangs when the mouse cursor is inside of a image in gimp
With the release of the new package I did happily see that the patch from revision 921 (which fixed the problem for me) was added. Unfortunately I had to realize that also xaa_solid.patch was added what re-introduced the gimp-hang for me. I was also reporting that upstream in bug 354, and thus this second patch was not applied upstream. http://openchrome.org/trac/ticket/354 So please revert 101_xaa_solid.patch, as this re-introduces this bug for me! [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 943643] Re: Fonts are blurry after the installation of Nvidia driver using jockey
I have fixed the problem, for some reason when I installed the drivers it created a graphical mode for my monitor in 1680x1050 at 60Hz that did not work. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 783993] Re: unity freezing periodicly [drm:drm_mode_getfb] *ERROR* invalid framebuffer id
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 808384 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/808384 I'm experiencing the same issue as mentioned as in several comments, specifically #13, #14, #39, that is using gnome-shell on 11.10; I especially get a freeze of the shell when scrolling (w/ mouse wheel or by pressing middle button and dragging the document) through a PDF in evince, but I also got it once in firefox. I can go to a VT and usually I restart the lightdm service to get back to my desktop. I am now on the v3.3-rc6-precise kernel and I could still reproduce the freeze by grabbing a PDF document in evince with the middle mouse button and then shifting it around like a maniac. Some other remarks: . My laptop has an ATI Mobility Radeon X2300 (ATI was also mentioned earlier in this report so I wonder why only intel drivers have been tagged here). . I really don't see how this is a duplicate of #808384, it seems like a completely different issue, except that there's an error message in kern.log: [drm:drm_mode_getfb] *ERROR* invalid framebuffer id. This error sometimes, not always, occurs in kern.log right after a freeze. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/783993 Title: unity freezing periodicly [drm:drm_mode_getfb] *ERROR* invalid framebuffer id To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity/+bug/783993/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

If it's true that similar issues show up in Nouveau, and on AMD boards (radeon? fglrx?), then it probably makes the most sense to track down the regression better first. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 948234] [NEW] xorg intel driver returns less than 3fps in glxspheres test
Public bug reported: After a fresh install of ubuntu 12.04 beta 1, I upgraded all my packages and proceeded to install bumblebee as I have an Nvidia Optimus equipped laptop. After installing bumblebee, I ran through the test to see if it works, and came upon this problem: for my intel graphics card the frame rate never exceeds 2.9 frames per second. The performance of glxspheres is extremely sluggish and Unity struggles when I have flash playing in the internet browser and I try to switch between windows. This is not normal, as my laptop is quite powerful (Intel Core i7 with 4GB of ram and the intel graphics card is an HD 3000 if I'm not mistaken). I was wondering if this might have anything to do with the RC6 that was enabled by default in the kernel included with beta 1. I have subsequently removed bumblebee on my machine and ran glxspheres again. The problem still persists. To reproduce this error on my system: 1. open terminal 2. run glxspheres for a few iterations Unfortunately I did not test glxspheres before installing bumblebee the first time around, so I do not know if bumblebee maybe messed up an Intel graphics driver related setting in the installation process. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 947833] Re: When copying selection to clipboard in LibreOffice Calc 'X' process begining to eat 100% cpu
Maybe you have anti-aliasing option disabled in LibreOffice? Xorg begins to eat cpu immediately right after I've pressed Ctrl+C (copied something to clipboard in Calc). And continue eating cpu all the time until I close Calc completely (sometimes Ctrl+Alt+F1-F7 helps - toggling to console and back). Everything works fine until I have this copied cells animation displayed in Calc. And as I've said earlier with anti-aliasing disabled in Calc - no cpu eating. Everything begins to work as expected. So this is some kind of anti-alias problem/bug. xorg.conf file I've created manually with nvidia configuration utility. Could this be the problem in xorg.conf? Or in xinerama. Also LibreOffice draws its interface natively - I neither installed libreoffice-gtk nor libreoffice-gnome. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/947833 Title: When copying selection to clipboard in LibreOffice Calc 'X' process begining to eat 100% cpu To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libreoffice/+bug/947833/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 948053] Re: nvidia-96 and nvidia-173 uninstallable on Precise
We do anticipate getting one more -nvidia release prior to Precise shipping, and hope that will include an updated -173. Maybe we'll get -96 too but hard to say; that appears to get attention less frequently, so we might have to drop it. In any case, I think we should wait on dropping these until closer to final freeze, so we can see what NVIDIA puts out. Is it possible for us to toggle off -173 and -96 from being shown in jockey until we think it'll work? Might help quell some of the bug reports we get. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers-173 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/948053 Title: nvidia-96 and nvidia-173 uninstallable on Precise To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers-173/+bug/948053/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 940564] Re: nvidia-graphics-drivers (295.20-0ubuntu1), is causing failed restarts shutdowns
** Description changed: It's possible that this is an extreme corner case, (my hardware), 8400m chipsets in general or a bit more widespread. So i'm opening this report in case it's one of the latter 2 It occurs like this: After the install or upgrading to the .20 drivers shutdowns/restarts works as expected. This lasts for at least 3 normal uses of either, by normal I mean boot up, use the session a bit, then do a shutdown or restart. Somewhere between the 4 - 8 attepmt either a shutdown or restart fails to complete properly. - Once this occurs it then continues for all subsequent attempts, there may be an occasional exception to that, if needed I can relay, in any event the respite is only temporary, basically a reset of the above + Once this occurs it then continues for all subsequent attempts, there may be an occasional exception to that, if needed I can relay, in any event the respite is only temporary, basically a reset of the above - What happens is this - + What happens is this - My normal shut down or restart takes about 2.5 sec's, after clicking either the restart or shutdown button there is a screen flash, then a plymouth splash for 2 sec's, then the machine either shuts down or restarts as normal. When it fails - as soon as the button is clicked the display is immediately shut off, there is harddrive activity for about 2 sec's, then nothing else. The machine remains powered on, the harddrive stays spinning, all else is like it was shutdown. Recovery is only possible holding the power button down for 10 sec's to affect a forced power off Have tested completly here with multiple installs, both from A2 upgraded any number of installs from the dailies, same exact thing. Meanwhile this never occurs with the .10 driver, which baring this just 'going away' will be the one I'll use, now come release + [dmesg] + [ 1400.375732] show_signal_msg: 36 callbacks suppressed + [ 1400.375737] synaptic[3430]: segfault at 782d636c ip 08096e77 sp bfb12b7c error 4 in synaptic[8048000+b4000] + ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.04 Package: nvidia-current 295.20-0ubuntu1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.2.0-17.26-generic-pae 3.2.6 Uname: Linux 3.2.0-17-generic-pae i686 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia .proc.driver.nvidia.gpus.0: Error: [Errno 21] Is a directory: '/proc/driver/nvidia/gpus/0' .proc.driver.nvidia.registry: Binary: .proc.driver.nvidia.version: - NVRM version: NVIDIA UNIX x86 Kernel Module 295.20 Mon Feb 6 20:25:38 PST 2012 - GCC version: gcc version 4.6.2 (Ubuntu/Linaro 4.6.2-14ubuntu2) + NVRM version: NVIDIA UNIX x86 Kernel Module 295.20 Mon Feb 6 20:25:38 PST 2012 + GCC version: gcc version 4.6.2 (Ubuntu/Linaro 4.6.2-14ubuntu2) .tmp.unity.support.test.0: - + ApportVersion: 1.93-0ubuntu2 Architecture: i386 CompizPlugins: [core, composite, opengl, compiztoolbox, decor, snap, gnomecompat, regex, resize, place, mousepoll, animation, move, vpswitch, expo, wall, ezoom, session, fade, scale, unityshell] CompositorRunning: compiz Date: Fri Feb 24 14:05:34 2012 DistUpgraded: Fresh install DistroCodename: precise DistroVariant: ubuntu DkmsStatus: nvidia-current, 295.20, 3.2.0-17-generic-pae, i686: installed GraphicsCard: - NVIDIA Corporation G86 [GeForce 8400M GS] [10de:0427] (rev a1) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) -Subsystem: Dell Device [1028:0209] + NVIDIA Corporation G86 [GeForce 8400M GS] [10de:0427] (rev a1) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) + Subsystem: Dell Device [1028:0209] InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 12.04 LTS Precise Pangolin - Alpha i386 (20120220) JockeyStatus: - xorg:nvidia_current - NVIDIA accelerated graphics driver (Proprietary, Enabled, In use) - xorg:nvidia_current_updates - NVIDIA accelerated graphics driver (post-release updates) (Proprietary, Disabled, Not in use) + xorg:nvidia_current - NVIDIA accelerated graphics driver (Proprietary, Enabled, In use) + xorg:nvidia_current_updates - NVIDIA accelerated graphics driver (post-release updates) (Proprietary, Disabled, Not in use) MachineType: Dell Inc. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 943836] Re: Xorg freeze
The screen corruption issue is a known regression in unity-greeter. Are you using the default screensaver (that just shows a blank screen and clock), or xscreensaver, or something else? None of your logs show an error; could you reproduce the fault, attach gdb to the Xorg process, and collect a backtrace? That may indicate where X is stuck. See http://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Backtracing for guidance. Sometimes these types of bugs are caused by compiz plugins. Can you reproduce this when using unity-2d? ** Changed in: nvidia-graphics-drivers (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = High ** Changed in: nvidia-graphics-drivers (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/943836 Title: Xorg freeze To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers/+bug/943836/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 946178] Re: GPU fan always at 100%, can not change the thermal settings
@Alberto, mind raising this with NVIDIA? Looks like it's been pinpointed to a regression in 295.20 (vs 275.43). @Le Gluon Du Net, can you test if the bug also affects 295.10? ** Changed in: nvidia-graphics-drivers (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = High ** Changed in: nvidia-graphics-drivers (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = Triaged ** Changed in: nvidia-graphics-drivers (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) = Alberto Milone (albertomilone) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/946178 Title: GPU fan always at 100%, can not change the thermal settings To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers/+bug/946178/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
