[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 884255] Re: [HP G62] System is non-responsive to mouse/touchpad clicks
I have just experienced the same issue in a completely different computer with very similar set up. After seeing these posts: http://markmail.org/message/rm3pogzilxg7qakl http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1801465page=2 The common factor seem to be the awesome window manager used in conjunction with Gnome. Someone suggested it's related to nautilus. And it seems to be true: when this happens, killing nautilus solves the problem. ** Description changed: Sometimes, after an undefined amount of time using my HP G62 laptop, system ignores clicks either from mouse or touchpad. Mouse/touchpad movement still works, but not clicks. There's also another problem that appears that Thunderbird keeps opening repeatedly. I thought the Mail hotkey would be locked, but it's not the case, since evtest doesn't show up events for this key when it happens. I think both problems might be related. I haven't had the chance to test yet: - evtest: Check if the click events are generated when this happens. - Check if the problem persists after disabling hotkeys. --- ApportVersion: 1.23-0ubuntu3 Architecture: amd64 DistUpgraded: Fresh install DistroCodename: oneiric DistroRelease: Ubuntu 11.10 DistroVariant: ubuntu InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot - Beta amd64 (20110921.2) MachineType: Hewlett-Packard HP G62 Notebook PC Package: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics 1.4.1-1ubuntu2 PackageArchitecture: amd64 ProcEnviron: PATH=(custom, no user) LANG=es_ES.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash ProcKernelCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-3.0.0-12-generic root=UUID=fedf2154-36ec-408f-bb55-744752f19c8e ro quiet splash vt.handoff=7 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.0.0-12.20-generic 3.0.4 Tags: oneiric ubuntu Uname: Linux 3.0.0-12-generic x86_64 UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) UserGroups: dmi.bios.date: 10/29/2010 dmi.bios.vendor: Hewlett-Packard dmi.bios.version: F.37 dmi.board.asset.tag: Base Board Asset Tag dmi.board.name: 143A dmi.board.vendor: Hewlett-Packard dmi.board.version: 60.3F dmi.chassis.asset.tag: Chassis Asset Tag dmi.chassis.type: 10 dmi.chassis.vendor: Hewlett-Packard dmi.chassis.version: Chassis Version dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnHewlett-Packard:bvrF.37:bd10/29/2010:svnHewlett-Packard:pnHPG62NotebookPC:pvr059411252710001020100:rvnHewlett-Packard:rn143A:rvr60.3F:cvnHewlett-Packard:ct10:cvrChassisVersion: dmi.product.name: HP G62 Notebook PC dmi.product.version: 059411252710001020100 dmi.sys.vendor: Hewlett-Packard version.compiz: compiz 1:0.9.6+bzr20110929-0ubuntu5 version.ia32-libs: ia32-libs N/A version.libdrm2: libdrm2 2.4.26-1ubuntu1 version.libgl1-mesa-dri: libgl1-mesa-dri 7.11-0ubuntu3 version.libgl1-mesa-dri-experimental: libgl1-mesa-dri-experimental N/A version.libgl1-mesa-glx: libgl1-mesa-glx 7.11-0ubuntu3 version.xserver-xorg: xserver-xorg 1:7.6+7ubuntu7 version.xserver-xorg-input-evdev: xserver-xorg-input-evdev 1:2.6.0-1ubuntu13 version.xserver-xorg-video-ati: xserver-xorg-video-ati 1:6.14.99~git20110811.g93fc084-0ubuntu1 version.xserver-xorg-video-intel: xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.15.901-1ubuntu2 version.xserver-xorg-video-nouveau: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau 1:0.0.16+git20110411+8378443-1 + --- + ApportVersion: 1.23-0ubuntu4 + Architecture: amd64 + DistUpgraded: Log time: 2011-12-23 00:42:12.322819 + DistroCodename: oneiric + DistroRelease: Ubuntu 11.10 + DistroVariant: ubuntu + MachineType: Packard Bell imedia S3710 + NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia + Package: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics 1.4.1-1ubuntu2 + PackageArchitecture: amd64 + ProcEnviron: + PATH=(custom, user) + LANG=es_ES.UTF-8 + SHELL=/bin/bash + ProcKernelCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/vmlinuz-3.0.0-16-generic root=UUID=4fe837bb-0475-4626-98a1-52d44be79567 ro quiet splash vt.handoff=7 + ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.0.0-16.28-generic 3.0.17 + Tags: oneiric ubuntu + Uname: Linux 3.0.0-16-generic x86_64 + UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to oneiric on 2011-12-23 (77 days ago) + UserGroups: adm admin audio cdrom dialout fuse lpadmin netdev plugdev sambashare vboxusers video www-data + dmi.bios.date: 05/26/2009 + dmi.bios.vendor: AMI + dmi.bios.version: P01-A2 + dmi.board.asset.tag: To Be Filled By O.E.M. + dmi.board.name: imedia S3710 + dmi.board.vendor: Packard Bell + dmi.chassis.type: 3 + dmi.chassis.vendor: Packard Bell + dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnAMI:bvrP01-A2:bd05/26/2009:svnPackardBell:pnimediaS3710:pvr:rvnPackardBell:rnimediaS3710:rvr:cvnPackardBell:ct3:cvr: + dmi.product.name: imedia S3710 + dmi.sys.vendor: Packard Bell + version.compiz: compiz 1:0.9.6+bzr20110929-0ubuntu6.1 + version.ia32-libs: ia32-libs 20090808ubuntu26 + version.libdrm2: libdrm2 2.4.26-1ubuntu1 + version.libgl1-mesa-dri: libgl1-mesa-dri 7.11-0ubuntu3 + version.libgl1-mesa-dri-experimental: libgl1-mesa-dri-experimental N/A + version.libgl1-mesa-glx: libgl1-mesa-glx 7.11-0ubuntu3 + version.xserver-xorg: xserver-xorg

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 950828] Re: package fglrx 2:8.780-0ubuntu2 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. The version of update-initramfs that you likely have installed is unable to work on a persistent usb stick. You can resolve this issue by upgrading the version of casper on your system. This can be done via the commands: sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get install casper Then performing the software update or installation that you were originally trying. If this does not resolve your bug please set its status back to New. Thanks in advance! ** Tags added: needs-new-casper ** Changed in: fglrx-installer (Ubuntu) Status: New = Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to fglrx-installer in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/950828 Title: package fglrx 2:8.780-0ubuntu2 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/fglrx-installer/+bug/950828/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 950950] [NEW] nvidia-settings does not remember settings, full hd monitor runs in interlaced mode every logout/reboot
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Latest 12.04 Nvidia (display) settings are not stored/remembered after logoff or reboot. Well, its using max resolution (LCD monitor) but everytime goes interlaced, and screen starts to flicker. Every time i log in i need to setup display (resolution and refresh rate) to get rid of screen flickering. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 950851] [NEW] long boot time after installing additional Desktops
You have been subscribed to a public bug: After installing kubuntu-desktop on a fresh installed 32Bit Ubuntu (Precise Beta) my system takes longer than usual to start. It actually takes longer than Windows on my other machine which is unusual since 10.04. I have a Samsung R560 with installed Nvidia Drivers from the Precise Repositorys that were recommended by the Ubuntu System. I'd be glad if anyone can tell me what I need to do to provide more trace information about the boottime issue. The System seems to run normal but the long boot sequence is quite annoying. After installing KDE I set the Plymouth Bootscreen back to normal with the update-alternatives to have the standard Ubuntu Boot Screen and I'm still using Lightdm as Display Manager. The only manual modification i did was to change the boottime resolution according to this german howto: http://linuxundich.de/de/ubuntu/plymouth-boot-nvidia-virtualbox/ Which worked very good. I now have my native resolution of 1280x800 with running nvidia driver. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 949330] Re: nVidia driver won't load anymore
Although the nVidia driver is now loaded successfully I still have two problems when logging in for the first time after a reboot: - The screen corrupts for a short while (a few seconds). I see a white background with lots of differently colored pixels everywhere. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 950963] [NEW] nvidia-graphics-drivers needs to provide separate packages such as libcuda1
Public bug reported: Ubuntu 12.04 nvidia-graphics-drivers 295.20-0ubuntu1 In Ubuntu, nvidia-graphics-drivers package provides only nvidia-current and nvidia-current-dev, while the Debian's package provides many separated deb packages as follows: libcuda1 libcuda1-dev libcuda1-ia32 libgl1-nvidia-alternatives libgl1-nvidia-alternatives-ia32 libgl1-nvidia-glx libgl1-nvidia-glx-ia32 libglx-nvidia-alternatives libnvidia-compiler libnvidia-compiler-ia32 libnvidia-compiler1 libnvidia-compiler1-ia32 nvidia-glx nvidia-glx-dev nvidia-glx-ia32 nvidia-kernel-dkms nvidia-kernel-source nvidia-libopencl1 nvidia-libopencl1-dev nvidia-libopencl1-ia32 nvidia-libvdpau-dev nvidia-libvdpau1 nvidia-libvdpau1-ia32 nvidia-opencl-common nvidia-opencl-icd nvidia-opencl-icd-ia32 nvidia-smi nvidia-vdpau-driver nvidia-vdpau-driver-ia32 So, some packages imported from Debian cannot be built or not installable unless their dependencies are modified. For example, nvidia-cuda-toolkit is failed to build because of missing libcuda1. See https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-cuda- toolkit/4.0.17-3/+build/3079987 . I think the separate packages should be provided as in Debian and nvidia-current and nvidia-current-dev should be changed to meta packages which depend on those separate packages. ** Affects: nvidia-cuda-toolkit (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: nvidia-graphics-drivers (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: nvidia-cuda-toolkit (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/950963 Title: nvidia-graphics-drivers needs to provide separate packages such as libcuda1 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-cuda-toolkit/+bug/950963/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 587288] Re: ld cannot find -lcuda, when compiling cuda programs
This problem can be solved by putting .profile file the following line: export LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/lib/nvidia-current I think creating /etc/profile.d/nvidia-current.sh file containing the above is good idea. This file provides the system-wide setting. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/587288 Title: ld cannot find -lcuda, when compiling cuda programs To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers/+bug/587288/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 950851] Re: long boot time after installing additional Desktops
apport information ** Description changed: After installing kubuntu-desktop on a fresh installed 32Bit Ubuntu (Precise Beta) my system takes longer than usual to start. I just mention this if this may have caused the longer boot time. --- .proc.driver.nvidia.gpus.0: Error: [Errno 21] Ist ein Verzeichnis: '/proc/driver/nvidia/gpus/0' .proc.driver.nvidia.registry: Binary: .proc.driver.nvidia.version: NVRM version: NVIDIA UNIX x86 Kernel Module 295.20 Mon Feb 6 20:25:38 PST 2012 GCC version: gcc version 4.6.3 (Ubuntu/Linaro 4.6.3-1ubuntu2) .tmp.unity.support.test.0: ApportVersion: 1.94.1-0ubuntu1 Architecture: i386 CompizPlugins: [core, composite, opengl, compiztoolbox, decor, vpswitch, snap, mousepoll, resize, place, move, wall, grid, regex, imgpng, session, gnomecompat, animation, fade, unitymtgrabhandles, workarounds, scale, expo, ezoom, unityshell] CompositorRunning: compiz CurrentDmesg: [ 127.408039] wlan0: no IPv6 routers present DistUpgraded: Fresh install DistroCodename: precise DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.04 DistroVariant: ubuntu DkmsStatus: nvidia-current, 295.20, 3.2.0-17-generic-pae, i686: installed nvidia-current, 295.20, 3.2.0-18-generic-pae, i686: installed nvidia-current-updates, 295.20, 3.2.0-18-generic-pae, i686: installed ExtraDebuggingInterest: Yes, whatever it takes to get this fixed in Ubuntu GraphicsCard: NVIDIA Corporation G96 [GeForce 9600M GT] [10de:0649] (rev a1) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) Subsystem: Samsung Electronics Co Ltd Device [144d:c03f] InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 12.04 LTS Precise Pangolin - Alpha i386 (20120225) JockeyStatus: xorg:nvidia_current - Beschleunigter Grafiktreiber von NVIDIA (Proprietär, Deaktiviert, Nicht benutzt) xorg:nvidia_current_updates - NVIDIAs beschleunigte Grafiktreiber (Nachträgliche Aktualisierungen) (Proprietär, Aktiviert, In Benutzung) MachineType: SAMSUNG ELECTRONICS CO., LTD.
