[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1293425] Re: [Dell Vostro 3550] Display resolution keeps switching with external monitor connected
Found a related bug IMHO: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1063658 With that one 'xinput disable x' was also workaround. If you go and read that bug report, you can see that it really is about the same thing, only that the user didn't use external monitor for a while and when he did, he reported If second monitor is plugged flickering of windows stops and system starts to turn off and on both monitors with different resolutions. - sounds like he's talking about the same thing to me. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1286516] Re: [gen2 regression mesa ] Stellarium + Trusty 14.04: white screen
Diego Urbina, Thank you for the info. This is obviously the same problem with a 82865G card. Mesa version 9 is incompatible with some applications (eg Stellarium) from Quantal 12.10 and today 14.04 LTS Trusty (but GoogleEarth is ok). The amendment was made in 2012 in version 8 mesa was corrected the same problem that existed at launch LTS Precise. But today, the 82865G card that was qualified by an expert in this forum of historical card (... not to say Jurassic Card) there is (alas) unlikely that the same correction is made in mesa 9, unless we are likely to report the problem. Downgrade mesa 8.0.4 with Trusty is ok (eg Stellarium works), but it is already beginning to pose problems of compatibility with Abiword is therefore only temporary relief solution, still dream a correction mesa 9 ! [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1303706] Re: FFe: new upstream version 0.4.1
To put some perspective into this bug report for those who don't read the attached reports, it means that people with e.g. Czech keyboard layout and the pretty common QWERTY variant won't be able to type anything into a Qt5 application. That layout does not have to be active; its mere presence means that the keyboard won't work. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to libxkbcommon in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1303706 Title: FFe: new upstream version 0.4.1 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libxkbcommon/+bug/1303706/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1275760] Re: low graphics mode due to possible race condition on precise
Hello, I have the same problem with a Nvidia NVS300 (kernel 3.2.0-60-generic, nvidia driver 304.116) in my office-PC, mostly after a kernel update. = VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GT218 [NVS 300] (rev a2) It helps to reinstall all nvidia* packages; nvidia-common, nvidia- current, etc, but the error occurs occasionally again. When I reboot the system after this error, the error comes again, sometimes only a shutdown, and then poweron helps. In my home-PC I have a Nvidia GT 430 and I never had this problem. Maybe it is related to different hardware models, which initialize too slowly at startup? So all things being equal, 8f and 8b differ only in depth, and since you set GLX_DEPTH_SIZE.. GLX_DEPTH_SIZE: Must be followed by a nonnegative minimum size specification. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1188774] Re: 8086:0126 [Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E430] [snb] 13.04 goes into hard lock mode randomly.
Sridhar, are you still having consistent issues as you had on 13.04? On my laptop in particular, I have had no issues since the spawn of 13.10. I've been running 14.04 beta for a few days and that too has been problem free in terms of freezing. I can't help but to wonder if the 3.8-3.9 series kernel was the problem. I read similar reports with other distros using these kernels as well. If I recall, I believe I even ran Fedora and had it hardlock using the 3.9 kernel (3.9.3 or something?). At any rate, 3.10 and above seems to have helped. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1277905] Re: Game windows (minecraft, titan attacks, maybe others) on Intel are transparent and no longer playable
I'm confused... so, you're essentially saying it's the fault of the application, choosing the wrong visual? So what exactly changed and why did it change and how is this better than before? I don't think the visual with a compositable alpha channel should be chosen as default by accident. (?) No, just that the test as you've written shows the correct behavior. The old behavior didn't care about depth, and was wrong. Dear Christopher, thank you for your prompt followup. I believe I caused the problem by installing the wrong version of xfce4 on top of ubuntu 12.04 when I did the reinstall. There is also some possibility that I corrupted the OS perl packages. I have done a re-install. This time I installed 12.04. Then removed all the packages I did not want (gwibber, folks, zeitgeist, and various others) before I let the software update process run. Then I followed the process at: http://linuxaria.com/article/xfce-4-10-on-ubuntu-12-04?lang=en which has proved reliable in other ways. After this I installed perl, cpan for my user and so far so good. I have had a very good experience with ubuntu but I am going to return to debian and xfce4. The packages in ubuntu seem to be getting a bit intertwined and it is hard to get rid of packages you don't want and have them stay gone. I don't really know what gvfs is for example but I can't get rid of it. zeitgeist is anther hardy package that I have spent a lot of time purging and re-purging. It would be could if there was a stripped down release. Still I know it is a big job. Many thanks, J. E.
