Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1376017] Re: monitor 19 inch not detected on ubuntu 14 (max resulution: 1280 x 768)
Dear Christopher, I downloaded the image and launched it on Live DVD. The difference is that I can see the Intel drivers in additional software options. I checked to use the driver but nothing changed (maybe because it's live dvd?). Please advise. Jean-Baptiste > Le 23 févr. 2015 à 23:37, "Christopher M. Erki Hallingu, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available from the very top line at the top of the page (the release names are irrelevant for testing, and please do not test the daily folder) following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. If the test did not allow you to test to the issue (ex. you couldn't boot into the OS) please make a comment in your report about this, and continue to test the next most recent kernel version until you can test to the issue. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1424980] [NEW] [ffe] xorg-server 1.17
Public bug reported: Changes since v1.16: - Adam continues to strip out stale code and clean up the server. Thousands of lines of unnecessary code have disappeared yet again. - The modesetting driver has been merged into the server code base, simplifying ongoing maintenance by coupling it to the X server ABI/API release schedule. This now includes DRI2 support (so that GLX works correctly) along with Glamor support (which handles DRI3). - Lots of Glamor improvements, including a rewrite of the core protocol rendering functions I would have uploaded it before feature freeze, but fglrx isn't ready yet. ** Affects: xorg-server (Ubuntu) Importance: High Assignee: Maarten Lankhorst (mlankhorst) Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1424980 Title: [ffe] xorg-server 1.17 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/1424980/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

foudoulis, thank you for taking the time to report this and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read "How to report bugs effectively" http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html and https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs . We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem. We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures At a minimum, we need: 1. The specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem, 2. The behavior you expected, and 3. The behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible). If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon, next to the word Tags, located at the bottom of the report description: kernel-fixed-upstream kernel-fixed-upstream-3.XY-rcZ Where XY and Z are numbers corresponding to the kernel version. If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags: kernel-bug-exists-upstream kernel-bug-exists-upstream-3.XY-rcZ Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results. Thank you for your understanding. ** Package changed: xorg (Ubuntu) => linux (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Medium ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1374302 Title: internet connection goes on and of consistanly To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1374302/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Morphis, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com /daily-live/current/ . If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report: apport-collect -p xorg 1375007 Please ensure you have xdiagnose installed, and that you click the Yes button for attaching additional debugging information. As well, given the information from the prior release is already available, testing a release prior to the development one would not be helpful. Thank you for your understanding. Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1315938] Re: Lost screen
I effectively reported this problem a long time ago. Since that time, I tried about a dozen different versions of Linux distributions. With Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Xubuntu or Lubuntu, the problem happens about every 2 hours, sometimes more often. I tried LXLE and it happen less often, about every 10 to 12 hours of use. The most stable distribution, the one that I use now, is Gnome Wheezy. With it, the same problem happen from time to time. The first time after about one month of use. And anything from 3 hours, to 2 or 3 days, or 2 weeks between lost screen problem.I can live with that. I am 99,9% sure that the problem is a material one, since my graphic card is not supported by any Linux distribution.I will not do any additionnal test and I will install a new graphic card soon. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1424491] Re: apt-get fails to install fglrx or fglrx-updates in 14.04.2 and 12.04.5
@Otus: I'm surprised to hear you managed to not get the fglrx packages removed when installing the LTS enablement stack. In my case I had 14.04 and fglrx-updates (but the same happened with fglrx) installed. When I tried to start using the LTS enablement stack by installing the packages, apt-get had to remove fglrx first. Just a heads up for everyone: DO NOT attempt to build the driver packages yourself with the drivers from the AMD website after you installed the LTS enablement stack packages. The package building process will attempt to automatically "fix" it's required dependencies, removing a load of packages WITHOUT warning, leaving you with a broken system. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to fglrx-installer in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1424491 Title: apt-get fails to install fglrx or fglrx-updates in 14.04.2 and 12.04.5 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/fglrx-installer/+bug/1424491/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

For clarity: I attempted the following on my test machine: 1. Upgrade from 14.04.1 with the driver installed. I always recommend against this, but I attempted it anyway in the interest of testing. 2. From a fresh installation of 14.01.1, install the driver, remove the driver, upgrade and then re-install the driver. 3. Install 14.04.2 fresh, update and then install the driver. All methods failed similarly.
