I think I used the opportunity to have a look at my monitor overlay to verify the resolution. I realize this is not very reliable, so if you really need this information, please tell me how to verify it for sure. At least I can say that 1024 x 768 was listed in 915resolution back when this tool was still necessary. 3) I can switch between pixel-per-pixel and stretch in my notebook BIOS. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 398183] Re: intel driver seems to have lost tv output quirk
Hello Bryce, acually it does not cause any significant problems right now. However, back then when the TVout quirks were collected and implemented, it was the general consensus to not present the user any outputs that are not existing. That said, if it was decided to drop the TVout quirks altogether I respect that decision and would withdraw this bugreport. If the quirks are still there and just my hardware dropped from that list, I'd regard this as a bug and would like to have my hardware re-added. ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Confirmed -- intel driver seems to have lost tv output quirk https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/398183 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 380722] Re: GeForce 8800 GTS was not auto-detected
Hi Bryce, I have just reinstalled Jaunty. Here is what is installed by default: $ dpkg -l "*nvidia*" ii nvidia-173-modaliases 173.14.16-0ubuntu1 ii nvidia-180-modaliases 180.44-0ubuntu1 ii nvidia-71-modaliases 71.86.08-0ubuntu1 ii nvidia-96-modaliases 96.43.10-0ubuntu1 ii nvidia-common 0.2.11 un nvidia-glx As you can see, the modaliases packages are installed. However, the Hardware Drivers dialog is empty. I would expect an NVidia selection there. From my memory, as soon as I install nvidia-glx, NVidia would show up - but at that point it's already too late. I'd like to give you the chance to collect any debug information you need. Could you give detailed instructions for what you want me to do? If you want me to install from the edgers repo, could you list all binary packages I should install from there? -- GeForce 8800 GTS was not auto-detected https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/380722 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers-180 in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 380722] Re: GeForce 8800 GTS was not auto-detected
Hi Bryce, I can't really reproduce this bug, because I do not know how to revert to a virgin installation without reinstalling. I can only guess that the modaliases packages were not automatically installed and they got installed by installing nvidia-glx-180. However, which binary packages from that edgers repo do you want me to try out? I tried nvidia-glx-180 and it does not get activated properly (after rebooting the 'nv' driver is still active, despite 'Hardware Drivers' saying that the 'nvidia' driver is active). Proprietary drivers seem to be quite a mess.

** Summary changed: - [i915] external screen stays dark after suspend/resume via lid + [i915] dualscreen: some screen stays dark after suspend/resume via lid ** Description changed: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel On Jaunty latest on a Dell Latitude X1 (i915GMS), with an externally - connected Dell 2405 configured for extended desktop, the external screen - stays dark after going through suspend/resume. + connected Dell 2405, the external (sometimes the internal) screen stays + dark after going through suspend/resume via lid close. + + I can mostly recover from the situation by Alt-F1 to shell and + restarting GDM. However, things are very weird afterwards. Both gnome + panels sits directly on top of each other. Maximizing windows on the + external screen result in ~100 pixel wide windows, although the screen + has got 1920 pixels and the desktop background spreads to all of those. + + - Suspending via FUSA or pm-suspend instead works as expected. + - Turning on "Pipe-A forcing" does not help with the problem. + - I have the same issue on Karmic and Non-KMS (either EXA or UXA), but *not* on KMS. + - The bug shows up in either extended desktop or mirrored configuration, does not matter. + - Kind of related: When I deactivate the external display with screen resolution prefs and close the lid, the external display is briefly activated and used for (extended?) [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 352708] Re: [i915] external screen stays dark after suspend/resume via lid
This is getting worse: All of the above was dualscreen with extended desktop. Now, I tested a mirrored configuration - this also shows the bug. Then, I tried to just configure the notebook display, having the external display shut off. When I close the lid, I briefly see the external display being activated - just before the machine goes to standby and all displays are switched off. When I re-open the lid, suddenly only the external display is activated - it should not! [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 352708] Re: [i915] external screen stays dark after suspend/resume via lid
Some more insight: I tested several suspend methods without closing the lid (pm-suspend, power-button), and they do not show the bug. Furthermore, I tried closing the lid _after_ suspending with pm-suspend, and resume via opening the lid. This also does not show the bug. Re-test: If I suspend by closing the lid, the bug still shows up. Thus, I guess this bug is only about suspending, not about resuming.
