[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1855220] Re: xscreensaver is choppy on lubuntu 20.04 daily qa-test (flurry)
@Aaron/arraybolt3 I filed against the package I did, as I don't experience it on other boxes that include much slower CPUs than those listed here, but instead use i915 or AMD gpu. Examples where I've not experienced this include (some slower boxes) - lenovo thinkpad sl510 (c2d-t6570, 2gb ram, i915) - motion computing j3400 (c2d-u9400, 4gb, intel mobile 4 series) (I believe too) - dell [optiplex] 745 (c2d-6600, 6gb, amd/ati radeon rv516/x1300/x1550) - dell [optiplex] 755 (c2d-e6850, 5gb, amd/ati radeon rv516/x1300/x1550) - dell [optiplex] 755 (c2d-e8300, 8gb, amd/ati radeon rv610/radeon hd2400 pro/xt) I mention looking for this on another d780 and not experiencing it (comment 2) and don't recall it occurring on the d960 which was my primary box (though as flurry isn't my personal choice; it was only likely used when box was used for live testing), and those boxes would have to be seen as slower than - hp 8200 elite sff (i5-2400, 8gb, nvidia quadro 600) where this is experienced. I suspect it's very video card related; and as I also note in comment #2; seems to only occur when two displays are connected & used. Also, IF only a single display is active; even the HP 8200 (comment 2) didn't have an issue with 'flurry' I report (my vertical alignment can trigger a condition an issue when openbox is used where xscreensaver only covers a single screen which is I suspect maybe the 'choppy' behavior wasn't noticed on a card usually impacted; ie. the GPU is slowed enough when it handles two screens & issue is visible my theory). This issue is minor, and I pretty much ignore it. Users can always just switch to a different screensaver (I do!); it's not great for users who have boxes/setups where they experience this on a 'new' or 'live' system in my opinion. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-nouveau in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1855220 Title: xscreensaver is choppy on lubuntu 20.04 daily qa-test (flurry) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-nouveau/+bug/1855220/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

See this document for currently supported Ubuntu releases: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Releases We appreciate that this bug may be old and you might not be interested in discussing it any more. But if you are then please upgrade to the latest Ubuntu version and re-test. If you then find the bug is still present in the newer Ubuntu version, please add a comment here telling us which new version it is in. You've reported a Xorg issue on code that hasn't changed since Fri, 04 Mar 2016 16:53:04 +0200. I've marked this bug as incomplete. You can try support, but with 16.04 in ESM, support options are fewer. If you believe I'm in error, you can leave a comment outlining why & change the status back to 'New'. ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1982113 Title: My screen is horizontally divided into two parts. Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Bug reporting is about finding & fixing problems thus preventing future users from hitting the same bug. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1782984] Re: Assertion `!xcb_xlib_threads_sequence_lost' failed with multiple applications
Ok. So it seems that the bug *exists* in Focal, so now we just need to verify that the bug is *fixed* by the proposed package. @angie78 - as you seem to suffer from the bug, can you try to verify that the proposed packages (from https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libx11/+bug/1782984/comments/106 ) fix the bug? Once we've got verification that the bug is fixed, we can release the packages into -updates and everyone can benefit! [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1953507] Re: [radeon] jammy live - on adjusting display config; one display is unsuable blocky-mess
On rebooting into my installed system on same box - dell [optiplex] 960 (c2q-q9400, 8gb, amd/ati cedar radeon hd 5000/6000/7350/8350) AND using 'Ubuntu on Xorg' (sorry i forget exact wording) on Ubuntu jammy. - I am NOT getting any video glitches using the GNOME desktop; if I had I would have noticed before now HOWEVER - SCREENshots are showing issues to the left & right of what my scree showed just as LIVE image showed, these are only visible using PRINTSCREEN, and AFTER screen-position-change (even if change is very slight) What I see varies on each SCREENSHOT but on the attached picture I see bits of the terminal window mostly; parts of my `gpicview` display of first picture (will talk about this shortly!) .. & other windows. PLEASE NOTE the image shown in the `gpicview` window; nothing glitchy shows on that picture!! which was directly after login before I adjusted screens; the issues appear to be after moving alignment of screen on four subsequent PRINTSCREEN presses after slight changes of screen.alignment GLITCHES were evident a per top-left & bottom-right of the image itself. I see nothing wrong on my displays, I'm talking about PRINTSCREEN images saved to disk that are later viewed in my old gpicview. Note: this installed system was installed in the artful cycle; is release-upgraded every 6 months (though wasn't on artful long at all) so is heavily modified. This is my observation of this session only; I'd want to confirm what I wrote here on subsequent logouts/logins before I relied on it.. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1953507] Re: [radeon] jammy live - on adjusting display config; one display is unsuable blocky-mess
I've booted today's daily (jammy canary ISO - ISO date 20220222) on my - dell [optiplex] 960 (c2q-q9400, 8gb, amd/ati cedar radeon hd 5000/6000/7350/8350) On FIRST adjustment of displays (one [directly] above the other) no visual issues were observed. On SECOND adjustment of displays (top display slightly to the right of the below display; this is how my displays actually are as not all displays are identical size), visual glitches did occur - however they don't match the description of my original post. My bottom display today is PERFECT, the glitches appeared top display along the left edge only.. but they've since returned to normal (glitches stopped flashing after I took screenshot) See screenshot - it'll explain how I've aligned displays PLUS shows ~blocky-mess where screens do not show (left of my-top display & right of my-bottom display.. this POSSIBLY is what I was seeing on original post EXCEPT it was showing on screen but isn't today at least not now (but was left edge of my upper screen at beginning of session after second adjustment of display settings until I hit printscreen). GNOME Settings About - tells me X11 is the "Windowing System" used in this default run. Either way; nothing would stop me from using this box today... (I may [if i remember] when I reboot into my normal jammy] use GNOME & have a look at how it is there I did NOT find a way at gdm3 to login using WAYLAND instead of default X11/Xorg in the live session. (I'm not going to report this bug on QA-test; it's not bad enough as only an extremely mild version of what this report was like; my QA- comments can be found at http://iso.qa.ubuntu.com/qatracker/milestones/429/builds/244757/testcases/1743/results) ** Attachment added: "Screenshot from 2022-02-23 03-26-05.png" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-ati/+bug/1953507/+attachment/5562862/+files/Screenshot%20from%202022-02-23%2003-26-05.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-ati in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1953507 Title: [radeon] jammy live - on adjusting display config; one display is unsuable blocky-mess To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-ati/+bug/1953507/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1953507] Re: [radeon] jammy live - on adjusting display config; one display is unsuable blocky-mess
I haven't re-tested on my primary box (d960)... yet. I grabbed the latest *daily* of Ubuntu Desktop (2022.02.16) and performed a live QA-test on - dell [optiplex] 780 (c2q-q9400, 8gb, amd/ati cedar radeon hd 5000/6000/7350/8350) and was unable to re-create this issue. Default session on a LIVE run is X.Org as reported using GNOME.Settings.ABOUT which is what I believe was default on d960 (and am yet to confirm). Do note it's identical in specs except for box model; my details being taken from `lshw`. HOWEVER it has different motherboard & external ports, and its video card has HDMI+DVI ports out the back instead of 2xDVI on the 960 thus its not identical. It also has different resolution monitors (two old dell 4:3) I could NOT re-create the issue described in this bug report on this box; including play trying to adjust screen positions in arrangements somewhat akin to how monitors are set on 960 (much of the play using the landscape+portrait orientation as that's how the 780 monitors are; which is different to 2xlandscape on 960, but I did try and re-create using 2xlandscape [gritting my teeth] http://iso.qa.ubuntu.com/qatracker/milestones/429/builds/244481/testcases/1303/results -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-ati in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1953507 Title: [radeon] jammy live - on adjusting display config; one display is unsuable blocky-mess To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-ati/+bug/1953507/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1957094] Re: on-demand mode doesn't work with nvidia-390
For the nvidia-settings upload, the new wording looks somewhat strange: ++ " in on-demand mode (only if nvidia version >= 450; " ++ "otherwise, the behavior will approach to " ++ "performance mode). This option is applied after " ++ "a system restart."); Perhaps better wording would be something along the lines of “(only using nvidia driver versions >= 450. On earlier drivers this behaves the same as performance mode)”? Also: is this a translatable string? Please help us by testing this new package. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update out to other Ubuntu users. If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug, mentioning the version of the package you tested, what testing has been performed on the package and change the tag from verification-needed- impish to verification-done-impish. If it does not fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification- failed-impish. In either case, without details of your testing we will not be able to proceed. Further information regarding the verification process can be found at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in advance for helping! N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s) fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in -proposed for a minimum of 7 days. ** Changed in: ubuntu-drivers-common (Ubuntu Impish) Status: Triaged => Fix Committed ** Tags added: verification-needed verification-needed-impish ** Description changed: [Impact] * In any Ubuntu series, if user using a old GPU (which supported by nvidia-390 only) then issuing glxinfo will get "Error: couldn't find RGB GLX visual or fbconfig". [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1958038] Re: What package to report this about? Wifi driver not by default, but package is available.
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Bug reporting is about finding & fixing problems thus preventing future users from hitting the same bug. I suspect a Support site would be more appropriate, eg. https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu. You can also find help with your problem in the support forum of your local Ubuntu community http://loco.ubuntu.com/ or asking at https://askubuntu.com or https://ubuntuforums.org, or for more support options please look at https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/community-support/709 The last planned 18.04 ISO was 18.04.5, so new installation media is/was expected. Extra media was required because of the boothole vulnerability (because 18.04.5 media no longer booted on fully patched hardware) thus the re-spin of 18.04.6 for Ubuntu (flavors were already EOL at that point so no media was created for them). I'm not sure what your issue is, but 18.04 is a release in maintenance mode only for packages that are still supported being Ubuntu Desktop, Ubuntu Server, Ubuntu Cloud, and Ubuntu Base. For this issue to be resolved, it should be addressed on the current development release (currently jammy or what will be 22.04) as 18.04 was developed, released and is now just maintained for security patches for certain packages. I'll change the status to "Incomplete" as it appears you're after a change in ISO production but have used an inappropriate release for that purpose. If it still occurs with current development media I'd suggest re-filing a new bug report. Kubuntu 18.04 is EOL (https://kubuntu.org/news/kubuntu-18-04-lts-bionic- beaver-reaches-end-of-kubuntu-support/) & no changes to media will be performed for 18.04 media. ** Package changed: xorg (Ubuntu) => kubuntu-meta (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: kubuntu-meta (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1958038 Title: What package to report this about? [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1956263] Re: Situationm
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read "How to report bugs effectively" http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem. We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures. At a minimum, we need: 1. The specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem. 2. The behavior you expected. 3. The behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible). Bug reporting is mostly about finding & fixing problems thus preventing future users from hitting the same bug. I suspect a Support site would be more appropriate, eg. https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu. You can also find help with your problem in the support forum of your local Ubuntu community http://loco.ubuntu.com/ or asking at https://askubuntu.com or https://ubuntuforums.org, or for more support options please look at https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/community-support/709 You mention `grub` which is a boot loader; thus it's a boot issue and the OS doesn't start? Screen blanking can occur during the boot process (video hardware switches modes) for some hardware setups. Grub config has documentation; eg. https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Grub2/Setup but it's all geared at altering the boot process; or making the grub menu more appealing. You're also not using Ubuntu kernel, with various 3rd party packages, such as what is found in a 3rd OS/source (eg. not `21.0.3-0ubuntu0.3~20.04.5` but `21.2.2-1ubuntu1pop0~1634226723~20.04~b715ae2~dev` so issues should be addressed with the 3rd party packager (possibly system76) as you're not using Ubuntu packages. ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete ** Package changed: xorg (Ubuntu) => xorg-server (Ubuntu) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1956263 Title: Situationm To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/1956263/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1953507] [NEW] jammy live - on adjusting display config; one display is unsuable blocky-mess
Public bug reported: ubuntu jammy daily (canary build) live test on - dell optiplex 960 (this is my primary machine; so is normally used for entry of data & not doing the QA-testing). on adjusting the displays to match my setup (six displays; two high & three across; this box uses two in the middle with middle on top row & middle on bottom row).. the top display is still useable, but the bottom is not. This boxes are not perfectly aligned as not all my displays are the exact same size; so top display is slightly to right of bottom display the bottom resembles a digital TV with bad signal, mostly blocky & parts of it flashing (very quickly). it doesn't match the attached picture (as viewable on this box anyway.. my top display; which was LEFT prior to alignment is perfectly readable). ** actual my top display is usable, bottom is not (blocky warped picture) ** expected on adjust displays to match my config; both displays remain usable & readable. ** notes likely related to graphics card & not GNOME. If I recall correctly; this box has an older video card used as it had 2x DVI connections my screens use. My usual install on this box is jammy; but I usually use LXQt/Lubuntu and I don't experience issues.. I also have installed Xubuntu/Xfce & Ubuntu/GNOME so can test the installed OS (where I don't believe I have issue), but my install is somewhat old (artful install upgraded every six months ~30-36 hours after each release) thus is likely heavily modified. ** Picture comments My top display is ~perfect (vertical white bar to left of ubuntu-dock- items I'd not expect, but the color-blocks to the left of the 'install/firefox/thunderbird/files` is NOT visible; only a vertical WHITE bar a few pixels wide to left of the dock appears' rest of top display is perfect. My bottom display is nothing like picture; it's unusable. A mixture of black/white boxes with red/purple bits which would be the picture warped into blocky-components. When I type, I get reactions on this display with the picture changing (mostly the black & white portions which flash, the red/purple bits which are warped indri picture appear to remain static). My phone/camera isn't working, but I've taken a photograph. I didn't anticipate issues in this QA-test (it's past 1AM now) otherwise I'd not have run this QA-test now. ** further comments this is likely a duplicate... I experience this type of reaction on other boxes; likely radeon related but I've yet to look & can't even remember which video card exists in this box (I don't experience issues with the display configuration of the box with identical card to this, but it relates to display setup/config... my other box with this card is landscape+portrait I believe and doesn't have one display above the other; ie. d780; I get these issues when one display is above the other - and only with single orientation (swap top/bottom and issues don't exist)) ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 22.04 Package: xorg 1:7.7+23ubuntu1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 5.13.0-19.19-generic 5.13.14 Uname: Linux 5.13.0-19-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: zfs zunicode zavl icp zcommon znvpair ApportVersion: 2.20.11-0ubuntu74 Architecture: amd64 BootLog: Error: [Errno 13] Permission denied: '/var/log/boot.log' CasperMD5CheckResult: pass CasperVersion: 1.465+canary3.3 CompositorRunning: None CurrentDesktop: ubuntu:GNOME Date: Tue Dec 7 13:52:56 2021 DistUpgraded: Fresh install DistroCodename: jammy DistroVariant: ubuntu ExtraDebuggingInterest: Yes, if not too technical GraphicsCard: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. @Timo: I notice the libdrm backport drops the valgrind integration. I know it's disabled in (at least) impish, but is there any particular reason for it to be disabled in the focal backport? [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1948978] [NEW] Thunderbird write e-mail window never released in wayland
Public bug reported: If I run Thunderbird (latest version), when I write an e-mail or reply to an e-mail, a new window opens. When I send the e-mail, it works correctly and the e-mail is sent, but the red dot on the Thunderbird icon on the task bar never goes out. If I close or pkill Thunderbird, only the main Thunderbird window is released by the display manager and it is not possible to open Thunderbird again without logging out or restarting gdm3. This is with Wayland. There is no Thunderbird process left to kill. Everything works fine with Xorg, so on this computer running 21.10, I will be using Xorg instead of Wayland for now. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1782984] Re: Assertion `!xcb_xlib_threads_sequence_lost' failed with multiple applications
Has anyone tried PCManFM or Inkscape on focal? It seems that this update doesn't fix GNOME Shell on focal, but *maybe* that's because Shell is hitting a different bug? If this can be verified to fix PCManFM, Inkscape, or something on focal we can release it and open a new bug for GNOME Shell on Focal. If this *doesn't* fix something on focal, we need to work out why - maybe it needs more changes backported, like bionic did? If FCManFM & Inkscape don't hang on focal *without* this update then I think we can release the bionic update and close the focal task. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to libx11 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1782984 Title: Assertion `!xcb_xlib_threads_sequence_lost' failed with multiple applications To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libx11/+bug/1782984/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1941971] Re: there is a green horizontal line appeared on the lower side of my display when i received some data from my usb.
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. A photo (or video) of your issue may have helped highlight your issue. Providing a link to where it can be seen would be welcome too. Does the issue occur when you're using other OSes (a live system if this is your only installed OS); ie. have you ruled out hardware issues? Has it started to occur after a recent update? The more details you provide, the greater the chance of the cause being detected & thus fixed. A Support site maybe more useful if help in dealing with it is wanted, eg. https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1921991] Re: [SRU] Support isdv4-aes stylus group and multiple AES stylus definitions
Hello Bin, or anyone else affected, Accepted libwacom into focal-proposed. The package will build now and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libwacom/1.3-2ubuntu2 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository. Please help us by testing this new package. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update out to other Ubuntu users. If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug, mentioning the version of the package you tested, what testing has been performed on the package and change the tag from verification-needed- focal to verification-done-focal. If it does not fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification- failed-focal. ** Changed in: libwacom (Ubuntu Focal) Status: New => Fix Committed ** Tags added: verification-needed verification-needed-focal -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to libwacom in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1921991 Title: [SRU] Support isdv4-aes stylus group and multiple AES stylus definitions To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/oem-priority/+bug/1921991/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Thank you for the time & effort shown in researching the issue you've experienced. Before the bug can really be accepted & worked on by Ubuntu, it'll need to be confirmed that Linux Mint run-time adjustments are not-at-play, ie. confirmation on a pure Ubuntu system (with logs provided). Your logic & effort at finding your issue is noticed & appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Please execute the following command only once, as it will automatically gather debugging information, in a terminal: apport-collect 1923513 When reporting bugs in the future please use apport by using 'ubuntu- bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more about this functionality at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs. Please note: `ubuntu-bug`, `apport` & bug reporting tools are provided with Ubuntu by default, many require manual addition for some releases of downstream OSes based on Ubuntu (eg. Linux Mint). You should check with your distribution first. ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1923513 Title: xrandr --panning problem To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1923513/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1923390] [NEW] NVidia driver updates installed "manually" by system did not recognize my RTX 3060
Public bug reported: Saturday night at about 03:00 UTC I noticed that an update to my system (Hirsute / 21.04) would no longer properly work with my NVidia RTX 3060; I was left in very low resolution mode. When I ran Additional Drivers, the screen indicated that I had manually installed graphics drivers and I could not select the official and tested NVidia drivers. I am assuming these "manually" installed drivers were a part of a system update as I did nothing to install any drivers on my own. I found a suggestion to run "apt purge nvdia-\*", which I did. When I rebooted, I was able to select the "Using NVIDIA driver metapackage from nvidia-driver-460 (proprietary, tested), and my screen resolution and general behaviour seemed fine from that point on. In case it doesn't come through in the uploaded files, here are the lines from /var/log/dpkg.log relating to my purge: 2021-04-10 20:28:09 startup packages purge 2021-04-10 20:28:09 purge nvidia-compute-utils-460:amd64 460.67-0ubuntu1 2021-04-10 20:28:09 status config-files nvidia-compute-utils-460:amd64 460.67-0ubuntu1 2021-04-10 20:28:09 status not-installed nvidia-compute-utils-460:amd64 2021-04-10 20:28:09 purge nvidia-prime:all 0.8.16.1 2021-04-10 20:28:09 status config-files nvidia-prime:all 0.8.16.1 2021-04-10 20:28:09 status not-installed nvidia-prime:all 2021-04-10 20:28:09 purge nvidia-kernel-common-460:amd64 460.67-0ubuntu1 2021-04-10 20:28:09 status config-files nvidia-kernel-common-460:amd64 460.67-0ubuntu1 2021-04-10 20:28:09 status triggers-pending initramfs-tools:all 0.139ubuntu3 2021-04-10 20:28:09 status not-installed nvidia-kernel-common-460:amd64 2021-04-10 20:28:09 purge linux-modules-nvidia-460-5.11.0-13-generic:amd64 5.11.0-13.14+2 2021-04-10 20:28:09 status config-files linux-modules-nvidia-460-5.11.0-13-generic:amd64 5.11.0-13.14+2 2021-04-10 20:28:10 status not-installed linux-modules-nvidia-460-5.11.0-13-generic:amd64 2021-04-10 20:28:10 purge nvidia-settings:amd64 460.56-0ubuntu2 2021-04-10 20:28:10 status config-files nvidia-settings:amd64 460.56-0ubuntu2 2021-04-10 20:28:10 status not-installed nvidia-settings:amd64 Note the time shown is Vancouver/Canada Pacific Daylight. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1921764] Re: Bug affichage.
