[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 971018] Re: Auto-hide Unity Launcher will not reveal when mouse pushed to left side in VirtualBox or VMware
This is still happening on 16.10 as expected due to the previous setting of 'Opinion' the only way to work around this issue on VMWare Workstation is to change the setting under Edit->Preferences->Input Optimize mouse for games: Always. Disabling "Automatically grab and ungrab the mouse cursor." does not fix the issue. There probably should be an option for auto-hide to unhide on being near the edge, it could be settable just in unity-tweak-tool... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/971018 Title: Auto-hide Unity Launcher will not reveal when mouse pushed to left side in VirtualBox or VMware To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity/+bug/971018/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1360545] [NEW] [drm] HPD interrupt storm detected on connector DP-1: switching from hotplug detection to polling
Public bug reported: I have a haswell motherboard with 3 1080p monitors connected, 2 directly via HDMI and a 3rd HDMI connected to an active displayport dongle. The monitor on the displayport connection had been working fairly reliably until I decided to finally upgrade my bios to fix some other issues (big mistake, since I late found out its nearly impossible to downgrade). Since I upgraded the monitor nearly never works, I did get it to show display a few times but I'm not sure how that happened. At the moment while researching information to add to this post it actually started working for the moment. When I run xrandr it causes the screens to blink rapidly for around 30sec-1min. In dmesg I see instances of: [ 10.053292] [drm] HPD interrupt storm detected on connector DP-1: switching from hotplug detection to polling [ 240.125029] [drm] HPD interrupt storm detected on connector DP-1: switching from hotplug detection to polling Also fwiw I get different errors, and a kernel backtrace, but still no display on current drm-intel-nightly from here: http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/drm-intel-nightly/ And of course it all still works fine under Windows 8.1. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1313436] [NEW] Unity/Compiz very slow after resume from suspend
Public bug reported: After suspending and then resuming the system unity/compiz often but not always becomes extremely slow to respond, so much so that you can see the transistion from lockscreen to desktop for many minutes (if it ever finishes). I will attach a picture of what it looks like. I didn't wait around long enough to see if it would ever actually finish showing the desktop. Is there any way to work around this issue? setsid unity has been mentioned online as a workaround for unity/compiz problems but that does not appear to work when run from the linux command line outside of X. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 957298] Re: Mouse is very slow after starting a session on Precise
So far it appears to be working with the 3.9rc7 mainline kernel without needing the workaround, or at least is taking much longer to trigger the issue. Howevre that kernel is not slated to go into 13.04 so this bug or one of its duplicates probably should be open still instead of 'Fix Released'. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 957298] Re: Mouse is very slow after starting a session on Precise
I tried adding the lines in #2 to a xorg.conf file but it didn't seem to help for my ThinkPad X200. The mouse is barely usable and I see high cpu usage for kworker in top. It happens every time I use my laptop, but usually not for the first few minutes, so if there is a good way to debug kworker issues I could probably help track down the problem. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/957298 Title: Mouse is very slow after starting a session on Precise To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/957298/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Oh for my above problem that is still showing I do have both xserver- common and xserver-xorg-core from pitti's sru-test ppa. My vmware setup might be slightly different than others in that I upgraded today from fully up to date Karmic 64bit to Lucid 64bit using update-manager -d. After rebooting I no longer had keyboard access at gdm and found this bug report. My /etc/default/console-setup has: XKBMODEL=SKIP XKBLAYOUT=us XKBVARIANT=U.S. English XKBOPTIONS= At GDM where it doesn't work (from the command line check) it shows up as: _XKB_RULES_NAMES(STRING) = evdev, evdev, us, U.S. English, In Gnome where it does work it shows up as: _XKB_RULES_NAMES(STRING) = evdev, evdev, us, , It also appears the virtual keyboard is very fragile and crashes after trying to turn it on and off, maybe related to 526791, but I am using VMware 7.0.1 on a ThinkPad X200 not a Macbook. -- keyboard input broken due to invalid SKIP keyboard model https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/548891 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Jono, Can you also attach a document exhibiting the issue and explain how to easily see the issue? It is possible that it is an issue in OOo but I have seen other xserver related issues in the past that sometimes just showed up in OOo. I am still running Ubuntu 9.04 at the moment with OOo 3.1.0 from the ppa so I may be able to see if it shows up with an older version of xorg also. Oh wow, I think I was just able to reproduce the issue myself, when dragging a slide down in the slide list it seems to be fine, but when I tried dragging a slide to a higher position I got the really weird slowdown. I am running on 9.04 with intel driver gma4500 graphics (ThinkPad X200). I'll try reverting to 3.0.1 to test and see how it goes. I tested with 3.0.1 and doing the same thing can't reproduce the issue on it so this does appear to actually be an issue with OOo 3.1.0 somehow. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 391720] [NEW] [gm45] KMS does not detect screen resolution properly
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel On the Lenovo ThinkPad X200 laptop i915 KMS incorrectly determines the resolution of the LCD. It also for some reason thinks two DVI ports are connected. It looks like it takes the maximum resolution from both (1360x768 for ghost DVI and 1280x800 for internal LCD) to come up with the resolution to use on the internal LCD (1360x800). I have included below the output of xrandr when running with nomodeset kernel option. Jesse Barnes mentioned he knew about this bug when I showed him the problem at UDS and that there was a fix but not in the kernel tree at that time. It appears the fix still isn't in at least the Ubuntu kernel tree and needs to be added. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 391720] Re: [gm45] KMS does not detect screen resolution properly
It is also interesting to note that prior to KMS xrandr thought the two extra ports were HDMI and after KMS thinks they are DVI. The only video physically connected is the internal LCD or at least nothing is hooked up externally. The machine physically has an internal LCD, a VGA port and on the docking station it has a vga port and a DisplayPort port. However, when I reported this bug the docking station was not connected.
