Yes runs on wayland. Libinput 1.23.0 Mutter 44.2 It is hard to actually objectively judge this as stutter/lag is very subjective. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 2022369] Re: 200% scaling on wayland touchpad feels laggy on X1 Carbon 9th
Trying to pinpoint where the problem can be I found that the problem is not present in fedora with the exact same set up. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 2022369] Re: 200% scaling on wayland touchpad feels laggy on X1 Carbon 9th
This is very subjective and I could be wrong. Upon disabling the extensions the lag was still present. With a USB mouse the lag is not present or at least not as noticable. Interestingly if I switch to 1080p the issue dissapears. I think that subjectively the default mouse acceleration for 4k with 200% scaling should behave the same as 1080p with 100% scaling which is not the case (though this might be debatable / there might be good reasons why this is not the case). Public bug reported: Yesterday Toshiba M300 laptop ran for around 5mins. Screen went black and flashing cursor in top corner then stopped and started again with log in screen. As duel boot started laptop in Windows 10 and no problems so software problem. Reseached and found a fix which was putting in file, 1 - Creating a file "/etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-intel.conf" Section "Device" Identifier "Intel Graphics" Driver "intel" Option "TearFree" "true" EndSection This seems to have fixed the problem. I was running System Profile to watch Temps and also Mate System monitor with Firefox in the background. It did for a moment give a black screen but recovered so not sure if this was the problem resurfacing. Without this being a duel boot I would have had great difficulty identifying if it was software or a overheating/grapics card problem. Most users would scrap their hardware if they were presented with this problem. Hopefully my problem is fixed but if not could you please advise me further. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1983276] Re: xterm processing grep color loses char at end of line
Sorry about the email post over-repeat! Linux console! I used to work on computers with a console, but that was way back! Mainframes likely still have them, even though they run UNIX under the covers. So I should avoid using the PC monitor? Get a terminal, install ssh for login, and come in from either a terminal (who has one any more) or different host to do simple shell programming and xwindows copy/paste? I just want a terminal without any counterproductive behaviors, like the xterm/vt100 without color escape sequences, not that I ever wanted grep, less, or vi with colored text for anything -- reverse video highlighting was quite sufficient. Can you recommend a way to get back to a terminal with text I can trust? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xterm in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1983276 Title: xterm processing grep color loses char at end of line To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xterm/+bug/1983276/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1959695] [NEW] Xorg crash
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1872802] Re: Resizing any window will randomly result in graphics corruption for a fraction of a second (in Xorg sessions)
I tried to install both, Ubuntu 20.04.2 lts and pop_os 20.04, this glitch when resizing is the only problem I can't fix. Both were fresh installations so i assume it is present and I couldn't find a solution other than to enable wayland. I don't know how to change GRUB_DEFAULT_LINUX or disable a device that crashes the laptop (I can disable it with xinput and then no problem). That's why I haven't changed to wayland. But the bug is still there. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to mesa in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1872802 Title: Resizing any window will randomly result in graphics corruption for a fraction of a second (in Xorg sessions) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1872802/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Happens to me in a razer blade stealth (late 2016) Intel UHD Graphics 620. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1663922] Re: random freeze
Updating on my side: When i update to nvidia 450 and reboot, my system starts to freeze. Most of times i can't even really start the session and have to do a forced reboot because nothing works, not even using CTRL+ALT+F2. Go this bug with Kubuntu focal fossa and KDE. Tried with Gnome (with xorg) and had a similar issue, i did started the session but after some time it's freezes and i can just move the mouse and nothing else. Having to force reboot my computer. I will try some alternatives: Downloading from nvidia website, using 450 server, using 440, using 430 and will update here if some of this solutions works. With nouveau i have no issues. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1663922 Title: random freeze To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers/+bug/1663922/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1894432] [NEW] corrupted screen on Chrome when returning from sleep
Public bug reported: Problem just started happening within the last few days. No major system changes that I can think of other than some 'live-patches' being reported as updated... Only appears to happen in Chrome (so maybe I should report it there?) as other application don't seem to display the same glitchiness. Appears I have to stop all instances of chrome to clear it (or of course, restart the machine) Thanks! Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1880728] Re: Xorg freeze
1. Look in /var/crash for crash files and if found run: ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash Then tell us the ID of the newly-created bug. **NO LOG** 2. If step 1 failed then look at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID where ID is the content of file /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id on the machine. Do you find any links to recent problems on that page? If so then please send the links to us. **NO LINKS** I have actually reinstalled ubuntu since I reported this bug, but I started having the issue again. It just crashed this morning while i was physically working on it. Screens stayed on, mouse and keyboard were unresponsive. I performed a hard reboot and ran the command you asked. Attached is the result. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1879042] Re: [radeon] Xorg high CPU usage and stuttering on ubuntu 20.04
> 1. Is the high CPU usage sustained when you're not doing anything? No. > 2. Is the CPU usage only when using a mouse, or does it also occur when using a keyboard? In both cases. For example, Xorg's CPU usage jumps to 85% on my machine when I continuously switch once per second from one terminal window to another, regardless of the means (mouse or ALT+TAB). [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1879042] [NEW] Xorg high CPU usage and stuttering on ubuntu 20.04
Public bug reported: After upgrading Xubuntu from 19.10 to 20.04, some window operations (e.g. bringing one to foreground) can take an unusually long time (tenths of second, enough to compromise the general responsiveness of the system). [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1876992] Re: X11 session crash on using Gimp or LibreOffice
Reviewing bug 1868519, it certainly matches the situation. Mouse movement is the trigger for the crash. For gimp it's moving the mouse after opening or creating an image. For Libreoffice it's beginning to use the crop tool, which is also a mouse movement. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1876992 Title: X11 session crash on using Gimp or LibreOffice To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers-440/+bug/1876992/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1875645] [NEW] Graphics corruption on shell on login screen and session screen
Public bug reported: After upgrading from 19.10 to 20.04 I am seeing blocky green and purple artefacts on icons, background images and text. This is visible on the login screen and once logged in. Only the "shell" is corrupted and any subsequent changes, such as changing the background image, are displayed without corruption. The corruption is random but it is predictable that it will appear on the launcher icons, background image and shell menu icons and text. I've tried swapping between available graphics drivers but it makes no difference. Text corruption in menus is on particular glyphs selected at random. In the screen shots, for example, all upper-case and lower-case 'O's are currupted but on a subsequent reboot the affected glyphs will vary. On filing this bug I also notice that the pop-up modal password requests also displayed the corrupted glyphs. No programms run subsequently will display any problems. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1727130] Re: Marking text using touchpad stops working after awaking from suspended state on laptop
FWIW This description perfectly describes behaviour is still present on 18.04 in X1C laptops. Specifically my X1 Carbon 5th Gen (fully firmware updated in Windows), fully software updated 18.04, has this behaviour repeatably. It would appear related to variety of other bugs around touchpad malfunction on sleep awake in the X1C series. the modprobe -r psmouse && modprobe psmouse fix works for me. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to libinput in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1727130 Title: Marking text using touchpad stops working after awaking from suspended state on laptop To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libinput/+bug/1727130/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1815693] Re: Kubuntu 18.10 Xorg severe memory leak
I'm still having issues with Xorg memory consumption on 19.04. - it is somehow connected with sleep/wakeup of the system - it is same for nvidia and intel graphic - it is same whenever I call pm-suspend or close the lid - uptime does not matter Nearly every wakeup memory goes from around 150 MB to 300 MB then to 1200, 1800, 3 GB and more. When the system is low on free memory, it goes little bit back to 2 GB. I'm using Kubuntu 19.04 on Dell 5587 wth 32 GB RAM. Maybe ... https://bugreports.qt.io/browse/QTBUG-69429 ... uptime does not matter because I'm not opening and closing applications, the set is always the same - Eclipse, Firefox, Chromium, Chrome, Thunderbird, Konsole. It may be related, but am not sure: right after a boot, the graphics (e.g. GNOME Shell animations) are fast and smooth, but after a while (I think it's related to the machine going to sleep, and/or the screen being locked), it seems to go to a fallback non-accelerated mode. It's still usable, but even moving a simple terminal window is slow. Strangely, even in this degraded mode, scrolling full-screen pages is still smooth in Firefox, as is e.g. watching videos. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-nouveau in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1684123 Title: bus: MMIO read of FAULT at 3e6684
