Possibly the 886179 problem is because it does not apply to win200sp4. well, the security updates for windows 2000 have not been revised, as well.. So it would be nice if you forward some patches.. - This SF.net email is sponsored by: Microsoft Defy all challenges. Jens, please update and > report back. The installation completed successfully without any problems. I can declare this bug as fixed. With this there are only two more problems to solve: - "ie6setup.exe" and - "JournalViewer1.5_KB886179_deu.exe" during the Windows 2000 SP4 installation. - jens - This SF.net email is sponsored by: Microsoft Defy all challenges. I downloaded the ie6setup.exe from the Microsoft server directly, put it into my unattended share, installed the machine with Win2kSP4, everything ok. Then i tried installing again on the same machine and what do i get? The freaking installation of ie6setup.exe does _NOT_ work, even though it work in the run before! Not even downloading it again from the Microsoft website fixes it this time. :( - jens - This SF.net email is sponsored by: Microsoft Defy all challenges. The same problem has been brought up already over 1.5 years ago in http://www.mail-archive.com/unattended-info@lists.sourceforge.net/msg06156.html and http://www.mail-archive.com/unattended-info@lists.sourceforge.net/msg05941.html Even downloading the latest version directly from Microsoft didn't fix this problem. - jens - This SF.net email is sponsored by: Microsoft Defy all challenges. I've been meaning to report this to the -devel list but haven't had time. We may need to wrap those two updates in some sort of check for IIS, otherwise installation hangs. For now I've just commented those out in my local file. This doesn't just affect German, it also affects English as well. > ie6.bat: > --- > While installing a new Windows 2000 SP4 (German) machine the installation > hangs on the installation of ie6setup.exe which contains "Internet Explorer 6 > SP1". > I have downloaded the file again and again but without any luck. > The solution to this problem was downloading the file directly from the > Microsoft Website and putting the ie6setup.exe in the appropriate place on > the server. > It seems the old link for the ie6setup.exe file is outdated.
