Clarification: [bert:~] 10:29:46pm 13 % host debian.slimdevices.com debian.slimdevices.com is an alias for www.logitech.com.c.footprint.net. www.logitech.com.c.footprint.net has address 199.93.34.126 www.logitech.com.c.footprint.net has address 199.93.56.126 www.logitech.com.c.footprint.net has address 209.84.4.126 That should be a bit clearer the difference between round robin and a CDN. The resolver returns 3 values. A client will choose one. Randomly. In this case, though, it seems to be 'dns round robin' in that a DNS lookup will result in one of the three items listed being used. Perhaps if I queried from somewhere else I would get a different response... but the items returned should be consistent (ie, if in NA, return these values, in EU return these.) Ie, a given user will, excepting in the case of failure ("the EU data center exploded, quick, kill that off and return the NA address for everyone!") see the same selection of hosts. So the problem is still "one of the three hosts in the round robin setup got behind in the mirroring." CDN's and RRDNS fail if the sites are not consistent in their data. Ie, if the 'Release' file from one server says the current versions is r30657, yet another server has not yet been updated to have that release, well, then you see what the orginal poster saw. -- snarlydwarf snarlydwarf's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1179 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=77518 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

I don't know of any script to clean up what you already have, but Robin Bowes has written a very nice Perl script to convert FLAC to MP3 in a parallel directory structure, which is great for initially creating the MP3 copy of a FLAC library. It has a nice option that will only update the MP3 tags if the only changes to the FLAC were the tags, thus avoiding re-transcoding everything just because of tag changes. Just set it going and it will traverse the FLAC directory tree. Search for flac2mp3.pl or look at www.robinbowes.com. It may not help you with your current situation, but it could be useful to you in the future. -- aubuti aubuti's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2074 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=77510 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

Put the FLACs in one branch of your directory tree and the MP3s in a separate, parallel branch of the tree. Then point SBS to the FLAC branch and point iThings to the MP3 branch.
