I've build a stand alone music system and used 'hostapd'
Hostapd creates a wifi hotspot; so your music system is completely stand
alone and independent of other wifi networks. I use this primary in my
car with iPeng as the remote control. I also use this system when
travelling. It has a build in SSD drive which has a copy of the music on
my NAS. I use Samba so that I have access to the internal drive (for
synchronizing the music files with my NAS at home).
This system is not based on piCorePlayer but maybe it is possible to
install hostapd on piCorePlayer. In any case, this solution is working
fine for me.

When we are ready we will let you know. There will be no insitu update
to 3.1.We are making some rather major changes underneath pCP, which
prevents a stable upgrade process. The goal longer term is that we can
make the upgrade a lot easier to be managed without upgrade errors. We
apologize in advance for those that it's hard to get at the SDCard for
upgrades.

Yes, that was what I did. I had 192.168.0.50 as fixed ip setup in PcP
(with problems as described) and 168.0.50 is outside my router's DHCP
range. But eventually reverted PcP to DHCP and went into my router to
have DHCP always bind 192.168.0.50 to the MAC of the RPi. It fixed
immediately the issue I experienced.

Hi Hiub, I had a similar problem on my network a while back, not with
Picoreplayer, but any clients on my Asus router that I want static IP
for have to be within the dhcp range or they don't join the network. So
I have to reserve them on the router so they don't get allocated
elsewhere if the client is switched off. You can also set the client up
with the same static IP if you want but it's not really necessary as far
as I can see.

I'll preface this by saying that I don't know the code at all... But,
just a guess. Since it's such a small mp3 file (about 17k) that fits
into a single buffer, could it be that the stream is being disconnected
(stream_state == DISCONNECT) more quickly than with a larger file,
causing the decoder never to be put into the DECODE_RUNNING state (i.e.
stream_state is never STREAMING_FILE or STREAMING_HTTP)?

[SlimDevices: Unix] piCorePlayer 3.10

2017-01-07 Thread sbp

Hi, the team are proud to announce the release of a new piCorePlayer
3.10.
Because of the many changes and improvements and bug fixes and additions
we decided to jump directly from version 3.02 to 3.10.

Actually, we have released two versions:
1. *piCorePlayer3.10* which is a normal version like all previous pCP
releases. The kernel and modules are vanilla versions from the official
raspberry and piCore (tinycore) repo.

2. *piCorePlayer3.10-Audio* version. This version contain all the same
improvements as the above mentioned version. But in addition we have
added all the audio related patches that Clive (aka JackOfAll) made for
the raspberry kernel). So here we have support for more i2s-DACs and we
support higher sample rates etc.

- Kernel 4.4.39.
- Samba Server Implemented in Beta Mode
- Squeezelite is now dynamically linked.
- Advanced audio card control - let you control output level,
available DTP filters, and parameter to dtoverlay.
- Shairport-Sync updated to a lighter weight
- New pcp extension repository, hopefully more stable.
- Numerous under the hood changes and bug fixes.

As we have so many changes we unfortunately are unable to offer "in
situ" update - so will need to burn the image (after unzipping the
download) to a your SD-card. Also the newconfig methid via USB stick
wont work for this version.

Please notice and try these additions (from "Squeezelite" web page
choose "Advanced Options":
21830

Samba is added - after many requests from you - so here it is (you need
to be in beta mode):
21831

Get them from here:

I put the above line of code back in to the version that was not
playing.

*Note that I'm not saying this is the solution.* I just wanted to see
if it would play the problematic VoiceRSS mp3 by setting decode.state to
DECODE_RUNNING. And, it did play successfully.

Please note that we are now distributing the images as "zip" files.

We decided to do this to:

reduce the download time from sourceforge which is not a fastest at
  the best of time.
  2 improve download reliability

Also, there is a md5 file, so you can check the zip has downloaded
correctly.

The team
Paul, Greg, Ralphy and Steen ,
Downloaded, installed and going. Thank you all.

The longest part of the install for me was getting the Word Clock
screensaver coloured in.
http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?103330-Jivelite-for-piCorePlayer&p=859683&viewfull=1#post859683
, took me a while to remember how to hack the SD card with WinSCP ( I
edited my post on the page after Arie's post for next time).

The pCp is running on a RPi 2.01, with a Kali re-clocker, Allo Piano 1
DAC (the one with the headphone amp as well as analog) and the rPi 7"
Touch screen.

Is there somewhere in the pCp web page where you detail the pCp hardware
?
It might be handy if the About tab included a list of hardware detected
- such as RPi model, wireless dongle type, DAC if it can be detected,
screen and any other add ons such as the Kali.

What we can detect is in sections.like wifi stick is in the wifi
diagnostics. The rest of the stuff is in the diagnostics screen off of
the main page.

As far as I know, I2s devices are not detectable.
