Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] piCorePlayer 7.0.0 - Public Beta
Thanks Wirrunna, I just tested my RPi3A+ with wpa_supplicant.config with pCP7.0.0b6 and it worked OK. I don't have a RPi3A to test. another strong release from the Team based on picore 12.x. Best news for all pi enthusiasts. Congratulations and thanks. I clean installed and listened for a few hours to tidal, deezer and spotify and everything worked as expected (i sometimes have an issue with some tidal tracks finishing early but that is possibly an LMS issue and did not happen with 7.0.0) I noticed that The setup command greatly improved there were some changes in packages, crda went and rng-tools came pcp-update finds an update for never_remove many thanks again to all. mcduman's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=66702 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=113199 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] ANNOUNCE: piCorePlayer 6.0.0
There were several users trying to get the Merus Amp to work. I think I finally cracked it. _Disable_onboard_audio_ dtparm=audio=off _Disable_SPI_ Remove the spi=on from the line Code: deparam=i2c_arm=on,spi=on,i2s=on Then on the Squeezelite page, make sure you limit the sample rate to 48000. Also, make sure you do not play any music until you have turned down the Limit Threashold as described in the docs. If you try to play music with the default Alsa settings, it will likely lockup the amplifier chip requiring a reboot. Once things are set in alsa mixer, then you should save the alsa settings on the "Card Control" Page. I'll see about adding some better controls in pCP7. piCorePlayer a small player for the Raspberry Pi in RAM. Will definitely buy this. For my bathroom, will split controller and player. In-ceiling speakers and wires will go in a dedicated technical cupboard hooked to a pi4+AMP2. And in the bathroom, the controller will consist of a SB Touch or a Pi4+Screen. Will need to see if it I hang it or just leave it standing. When powering off from picore interface, does it bring the pi & amp into standby? Cheers! Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] piCorePlayer 7.0.0 - Public Beta
Well Done piCorePlayer Team, Upgraded 2 RPi 3b players with no problems. Then tried a 3a player with wpa_supplicant.conf but it wouldn't connect to WiFi. Re-flashed the SD card and booted a 3b with the card, set up wifi, put the card back into the 3a and it worked, so continued with the setup. A camel is a racehorse designed by a committee. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] piCorePlayer 7.0.0 - Public Beta
casten_h, The firmware and kernel access the USB stick differently. While the firmware loads the kernel and boots the system, It takes time for the kernel to find the USB drives. Edit cmdline.txt on the boot partition, and increase the value of waitusb=xxx until your system boots reliably. I've seen some USB devices take 6-8 seconds for the kernel to find them. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] piCorePlayer 7.0.0 - Public Beta
Couple of other thoughts here. pCP has always been a headless type system, with jivelite as the only potential interface. With the revitalization of piCore OS, there has been a lot of improvements in the repos. piCore now supports the rpi vc4-kms-v3d/vc4-kms-v3d-pi4 drivers, which gives full 3d hardware acceleration. In 64 bit mode, currently only the fkms drivers work, but that still give 3d acceleration. Firefox web browser is available (epiphany also) Those wanting a lightweight full desktop interface, that should be easily done now. And provided you are not using LMS on that system, you still get "pull the plug" at anytime support. If there is interest here, we can work on some how-to's piCorePlayer a small player for the Raspberry Pi in RAM. paul- wrote: > USB will work, but it won't be stable enough for USB audio. Ok, then it is no problem here, because I use a Hifiberry for the 3B+. Only my Pi4 with LMS uses USB output. And for the in place update, it's no problem, I just wanted to know. So I think I can upgrade my 3B+ as there is not so much to configure (only Hifiberry, Jivelite and the 7" display) and and I can easily start from scratch. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] piCorePlayer 7.0.0 - Public Beta
carsten_h, Yes, that includes the 3B+. USB will work, but it won't be stable enough for USB audio. All RPI boards before the 4B have a pretty significantly flawed USB implementation. The work around has always been the FIQ driver. Yes, updates will follow. I have it mostly tested out, but right now, I needed to get some extra hands on the new release. I didn't want folks to upgrade in place and have unforeseen problems. I do a lot of testing, but there is only so much Greg and I can test. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] piCorePlayer 6.1.0 issues
Thanks Ronnie It's all rather strange but before posting I rebooted several times whilst I tweaked some settings all to no avail. After your reply I thought I'd give a reboot one last try before trying the reinstall option. On this occasion it worked and I now get 'IO::Socket::SSL: 2.060' as expected. No idea why it didn't work earlier but your input is, as always, much appreciated.
