p.s. I did have an error message in trying to run Spotty, but it told me exactly what to do. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] upgrade LMS 7.9.2 -> 8.x - procedure?
I just did this today. I copy the "cache" and "prefs" folders from exisiting LMS setup and save on your computer somewhere. (see LMS > Settings > Information, lower end of page for the locations of these folders in your system). Then I install 8.1 from scratch. Then STOP LMS, copy the old cache and prefs folders to the same location on the new LMS, allowing the files to overwrite the old files. Then restart LMS and you should have all of your plugins and settings. Sometimes I may have to enter a password or user ID again, maybe resetup SPOTTY, etc. But very, very little. Such a procedure should not be needed. You can really install one on top of the other and be good. -- Michael ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] ANNOUNCE: piCorePlayer 7.0.0
While the Pi3 is a 64bit processor, with only 1GB of ram, there is not much of a reason to run 64bit. In fact 64bit has a little more overhead, which will reduce available memory. My system hangs for 3.5 hours. > There is no way to trigger the refresh specifically via CLI. If the Rescan refresh option is enabled and the Startup refresh option is disabled it will only run after LMS performs a rescan and this might solve the problem as long as you dont perform rescans when you are about to use the system. Could be complicated though because you probably want to listen to new music immediately after you have ripped a newly purchased CD. I also believe LMS performes rescans automatically of a subset of the library in some situations. The other option is to disable Rescan refresh and instead enable Startup refresh. This might work if LMS and its computer is always running and you dont need to use LMS immediately after you have restarted LMS or the computer running LMS. Could obviously cause issues after upgrading LMS since LMS might seem to hang after upgrading. Disabling only the Enable musicbrainz tags option can also help in some setups since the musicbrainz handling part in the refresh operation might be the cause to the problem. You should be able to see in the server.log which part of the refresh operation that takes most time. Did a 64b institu update yesterday. Everything went smooth and well. A big thank you to the pCp-team for your ongoing developments. Great work! Think it's time to find the donate button again. Two questions though: I've noticed that the idle temperature on my rpi 4b 8gb has increased 3-4 C after the update. Is this to be expected? I don´t know if my rpi has the newest firmware, so maybe i should try a chipset update... Just to get it right. Do i copy/paste every line into the ssh terminal and press enter? Or do i copy/paste one line starting with ce, then the next line and next line.. and finally ending with pcb rb? dkskl's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=69538 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=113512 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] ANNOUNCE: piCorePlayer 7.0.0
Morning All Can I just clarify somethingI'm currently running LMS on 64 bit pCp V6.1 on a 4B. If I carry out an insitu update will it install the 32bit version of pCp? I can do a clean install but would rather avoid it if possible unless you tell me that is what I should definitely do. This is probably a stupid question but is it possible to use jivelite as a display on a TV via HDMI? Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] ANNOUNCE: piCorePlayer 7.0.0
That did the trick, partially. Have 2 RPI's in use, one as LMS server and that is now up to date with v7 (non-wifi). Another RPI is build into a DIY active speaker, that was also updated now to v7 but after the reboot the wifi connection seems to fail. A few moments after booting I see the led that is inside the wifi dongle (an Edimax) flashes one time and then nothing further will happen. I'll have to disassemble my speaker a littlebit to get to the RPI and to see what is going on. Likely the driver for the wifi dongle... paul- wrote: > That could be itskipping 6.0.0 might have done it.
