Therefore we should have it. Lack of "latest" has caused a few headaches to people getting started. In addition to these "channel" tags I'm going to provide the absolute version numbers. But I'll stop tagging "1.2.3-dev". Either you know you want a specific version, or you better stick with the "channels". So, going forward I plan to have channel and version tags: Channels: latest, stable, dev (as outlined above) Versions: 8.1.1, 8.2.0, 8.1.2 etc. Michael "It doesn't work - what shall I do?" - "Please check your server.log and/or scanner.log file!" Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] 'Official' docker container for LMS?
1. I was using the lmscommunity/logitechmediaserver version. If you use the docker pull command "docker pull lmscommunity/logitechmediaserver" it will fail because docker seems to automatically add the flag :latest Yeah, the tagging needs some work. See http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=113709 This worked perfectly. My only issue is the hostname. The LMS uses the hostname of the container. This seems to be the MAC address. Is there a way to change that? See the basic settings in LMS. You can name your library. > One more thing. When you're using portainer, it wants to start up on > 9000. Remove the bluetooth extension if your not using it..it can be done from the bluetooth page. The 8channel audio, is the onboard rpi audio board. The only line that applies to the applepi is [ 28.765508] asoc-simple-card soc:sound: pcm1794a-codec <-> 3f203000.i2s mapping ok Max sample rate should be a single number.the max rate that you want squeezelite to use..but I would remove all of that and keep it simple. sounds like its hitting a resource issue - memory allocation or something else that's causing an abend on exit it should be clearing the screen so maybe it is literally getting stuck I've seen that type of behavior with the JSON scrape of weather and LMS status/details hits an invalid linked list or has a realloc error i added additional safety code for the realloc and those changes are in the current available build the linked list issue I've seen 2-3 times only - i'll beef up the code around the JSON scrape to see if that helps 10 minute NTP is a bit of an overkill, if your pi is drifting that rapidly there's something very much amiss - once a week should be more than sufficient i can add checks to the astral routines to review and correct for drift if that would help As of *25-Jan-2021* my digitized collection is (25092 hours 53 minutes) + (54 seconds) or 2.863[/B] YEARS IN DURATION, THAT WOULD REALLY ANNOY THE NEIGHBORS... Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] 'Official' docker container for LMS?
I was able to download and install the LMS container on to an OpenMediaVault server using Portainer. There is information on how to do it in docker from the cli, but every time I tried, I got an error. I ended up creating a stack in portainer and deploying from there. Here are a few things I found along the way. 1. I was using the lmscommunity/logitechmediaserver version. If you use the docker pull command "docker pull lmscommunity/logitechmediaserver" it will fail because docker seems to automatically add the flag :latest if no flag exists, and there doesn't seem to be a "latest" version in the repository. Add the flag :stable or the exact version you're looking for and you're golden. 2. In portainer, I created a stack and used the following compose: version: '2' services: lms: container_name: lms image: lmscommunity/logitechmediaserver:stable volumes: - /:/config:rw - /:/music:ro - /:/playlist:rw - /etc/localtime:/etc/localtime:ro - /etc/timezone:/etc/timezone:ro ports: - 9000:9000/tcp - 9090:9090/tcp - 3483:3483/tcp - 3483:3483/udp environment: - PUID=1000 - PGID=1000 restart: always (obiously you'll want to point the config, music and playlists to your owm locations. For the config folder, I found that you just needed to point it to a squeezebox/config folder.) This worked perfectly. My only issue is the hostname. The LMS uses the hostname of the container. This seems to be the MAC address. Is there a way to change that? Thanks. If I look in "Extensions" and try to manually install the file, then I am told it already exist. My sense is that this 'blurp' doesn't matter and the system is fine. The BT Controller is Off. Since I'm not using Bluetooth - should I try to REMOVE it entirely? Squeezelite is running, running Standard Squeezelite Binary. My audio device: hw:CARD=ApplePiDAC I updated to: hw:CARD=ApplePiDAC,DEV=0 I tried: sysdefault:CARD=ApplePiDAC and reverted back to the previous one. None of these bring the sound back. Volume is at 100%. The system is finding my music library just fine, and seems to work with the RadioParadize LMS plugin as well. LMS is running on a Synology NAS. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] ANNOUNCE: piCorePlayer 7.0.0
I was also playing with the CPU settings, since isolation doesn't work (out of the box) with a 4, I switched between "performance" and "powersave". I noticed that running "performance" the webinterface feels a tiny bit snappier. Monitoring "top" at the same time I noticed CPU usage% actually going down. It sticks around 4% under "powersave" and just above 1% under "Performance". Temperature does seem to go up a few degrees. Under "top" I do indeed see all 4 cores being used equally in both settings. jeroen2's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=70418 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=113512 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Getting HDMI CEC to work on pCP 7.0
Well that was good ... The differences between the 2 SD cards were mainly RPi2 had all of the build tools and RPI1 had Jivelite ... So I used pCP to install Jivelite on RPi2 ... and, as if by magic, on reboot I had /dev/cec0 (and sound devices appearing). So there must be some config going on when pCP knows that the screen is going to be used. Finally I can get back to trying out remote control stuff. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] Getting HDMI CEC to work on pCP 7.0
Annoyingly I can't get the RPi to load the /dev/cec0 with the new SD card that I have rebuilt things on. I suspect there is something that I did yesterday that I have missed out today. The overlay is specified in config.txt dtoverlay=vc4-kms-v3d If I put the SD card from yesterday into the 2nd RPi then I do get /dev/cec0 created ... so the hardware difference does not appear to be the issue. The 2nd Pi is a B+ ... so not very different anyway. I have also put the cmdline.txt from RPi1 into RPi2 and it does not change things. Next step is to compare all of the .tcz extensions I loaded. Obviously RPi2 has a lot more because of the build environment (I had to add a max_loop=150 to cmdline.txt avoid a mount error when installing one). Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] 2.8" touch display on picore
"git" is not included by default in pCP. You can install it as an extension ... however, that would only get you to the next problem. pCP does not include made things that are common on other systems. This is what makes it small and fast to boot etc. If you take a look at the script that they want you to run you will see that it tried to fo many things including using apt-get to install some X11 things. This is not going to work on pCP. So ... what you (or someone) have to do is work through their script by hand to work out all that it is doing and then do the necessary parts by hand ... The best way to approach this (assuming this screen is not already supported by pCP) is to look at some of the Waveshare threads or the online pCP documentation to see how to tackle it. Is it time to forget this combination and pCP7  I would appreciate an answer (even if it's only to "stop being a pain in the arse" :):):p) Man in a van wrote: > I tried updating my "turtle" today from v 6.1 to standard v 7. > > The Cirrus Logic Audio Card is not recognised. :( > > Info at > > paste name: pCP-B-1d85e7-pcp_diagnostics.log > > > Many thanks for any info :) > > ronnie gegen wrote: > +1 .reverted back to 6.1 and Cirrus Logic Audio card works again. > Running on Pi 2B Man in a van's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=43627 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=113512 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

Are you looking at them individually? Apart from it being a 'cool' thing to do (and since the settings are easy to access on the pCP Tweaks page), would there be any reason to use cpu isolation on a Pi4? I disabled it when I upgraded to a Pi4 and honestly have not noticed any difference.. LMS runs blazingly fast and never has any hiccups even with 6 players connected and streaming hi-res... The one other issue which seems related though is the HDMI power setting.-(../usr/local/etc/init.d/pcp_startup.sh: line 788: pcp_rpi_is_rpi4: not found)- Since I am not using HDMI I want to disable the power to reduce energy usage (and assuming this would also reduce the overall temperature inside the box). Is there a work around for that, or should I just wait for an update to pCP? jeroen2's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=70418 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=113512 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

Thanks Paul - I didn't consider whether it was open or closed source, and I completely agree with your stance. I did already learn how easy it is to put this file into an extension, so I will include those extra steps in some instructions, so that ngrok users on pCP have a choice of where to put the executable. chill's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10839 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=113512 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
