Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] ANNOUNCE: piCorePlayer 7.0.0
I had those crashes at least one times a day when my player was connected by WIFI. Even with a sheduled reboot every night. Since I connected the player with LAN cable I didn't have any crash for weeks even without sheduled rebooting. I'm glad that my piCorePlayer is now running 24/7. Code: Is it possible that you are not using the correct resolution for the display? The display maybe has 800x480 and you are using 640x320. The touchscreen is sending coordinates for 800x480 as it is the resolution of the screen and this coordinates will be used for the 640x320 display. So you will reach the ends when you are not at the end of the touchscreen. Thank you Carsten. The display is in correct resolution, i.e. 800 x 480. If that, what you think, would be the cause, the distance of the cursor to the finger would not change. In my case, as mentioned, the distance of cursor and touchpoint can be changed by moving the cursor to the edges of the screen. I have no idea how to influence any touchscreen library. There is also existing a 5" resistive touchscreen of Waveshare and in the appropriate wiki it is described how to calibrate this display by using a special software. For the capacitive touchscreen, which I have, there is nothing like this and that this display doesn't need to be calibrated is evidenced by any other system like Raspbian, Volumio, max2play, Kodi. Only with pcp the touch function is behaving faulty. Sorry. The capacitive touch screen https://www.waveshare.com/wiki/5inch_HDMI_LCD_(H) can't be calibrated. Only the resistive can. Behaviour is like this: First the cursor (arrow) is far away from the touchpoint. When I then swipe to the left edge of the screen, the cursor stops there and is then is closer to the finger (touch point). If I then wipe to the right, the cursor stays more close to the finger but when the finger is about in the middle of the screen, the cursor starts to advance to the right and then reaches the right edge of the screen earlier than the finger. Similar behaviour when the finger is moved from top to bottom and vice versa. The screen is connected via the first HDMI port of the Raspberry and for touch functionality it is also connected by USB. The failure messages in dmesg seem to cause no problem which I didn't had before with the display. It's only strange because this occurs only in pcp 7 and not in any version of pcp 6. I only have the problem that the cursor on the display is not at the point where I touch it, but this also occurs with pcp 6 versions and not with Raspbian or other systems. The Pi and the USB-Hub are powered by a 10 Amp switching power supply, while the Allo Digione and the Khadas Toneboard DAC are powered by a seperate linear power supply. Yesterday, surprisingly, I had no crash, but after the next crash I will show here parts of a log file. I have to tell, that there also a Squeezebox Radio in another room which was synchronized with Squeezelite on the Pi. I stopped the synchronization and perhaps this could also have an effect on the stability of squeezelite on the piCorePlayer??? Besides that, the Squeezebox Radio is a crazy thing, which shows strange behaviour all the time, especially in connection with the wake up alarm and also the display of current radio stations, but this is a topic for another part of this forum. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] ANNOUNCE: piCorePlayer 6.0.0
Hi Greg, thank vou very much. I checked what you mentioned. In the extension repository I didn't find any extension for fan control at the first view. It is a rather large list and if the name of the extension doesn't indicate the topic of fan control, it is hard to find. Anyway, I'm lucky with my python script, which works quite well. Another thing I have: piCorePlayer or it's services crash frequently. Sometimes only squeezelite is gone, but shown to be running in the web frontend, sometimes it's LMS, also shown to be running. In any case restarting of the service faults.Sometimes piCorePlayer is down but Jivelite still shows function. In this case it's not anymore possible to connect to piCorePlayer by web frontend. Solution is to do a hardware initiated restart. Sice this happens so frequently, at least one times per day, my question is, wether there were any possibility to log the events and find out what causes the different crashes. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] ANNOUNCE: piCorePlayer 6.0.0
In the meantime I found the solution by myself. If a radio station is already playing and than e.g. by click on the heart added to the presets, the antenna is shown. If the radio station is added from the search listing to the presets it is there with all the artwork and the URL is in the form http://opml.radiotime.com/... Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] ANNOUNCE: piCorePlayer 6.0.0
After deleting my music library for a complete refresh my piCorePlayer installation didn't run correctly anymore. So I did a complete new install of piCorePlayer 6.1.0 with LMS 8.0.0. I now have the following issue: When I save a radio station in my preferences, there is shown neither a image/label of the station nor any record cover of the music which is actually playing. Instead of that there is only an antenna symbol shown. Can anyone help me out of this. Is it a bad chip in the drive? (It is > a cheap USB drive) I had the same problems. I had a SSD in an USB enclosure and connected directly to my Raspberry Pi4 it was not possible to read my music files. At this time I was using max2play. Then I bought a USB hub and everything worked fine. The Raspberry obviously didn't supply enough power to the SSD via the USB connector. When I then started with piCoreplayer the SSD with the USB hub only worked on the USB 2 connector, not on USB 3. After all I bought another enclosure for the SSD an then it worked also on the USB 3. Watch this story in postings #123, #150, #175, #176 and #330 I recommend, using a USB hub with separate power supply to avoid power problems with the direct connection to the Raspberry and if further problems occur to get another SSD enclosure. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] ANNOUNCE: piCorePlayer 6.0.0
I prefer to do a backup of the sd card instead of saving different files and copy them to a new installation. I tried this with Clonezilla, which was not successful. Somehow it can't restore the partitions on a new sd card. Also tried under Windows with win 32 disk imager. Problem there was that the restored system on a new sd card was running slow and had some strange behaviour. Could one tell me, which program is the best to do a backup or image of the sd card in the way that it also can be restored on sd cards with a different size? Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] ANNOUNCE: piCorePlayer 6.0.0
Thank you Paul, I'll check this on the next weekend since it's a very long thread. I've been also in contact to Waveshare and perhaps they have any ideas too. From my knowledge now, only the resistive touch screen can be calibrated and not the capacitive, but will check. Anyway, I love piCorePlayer and appreciate your fabulous work and kind help for what a donation is on the way. No more problems during boot. I have another issue, which only occurs with piCorePlayer and not with any other System I tested on the Raspberry Pi 4B. I have a 5" Waveshare capacitive touchscreen (H). The display is conected to one HDMI-Port and one USB-Port of the Raspberry. The USB conection is for the touch function. The image is shown fine on the display but the touch function lacks. I.e. the cursor is far away from the touchpoint 30121 In the config.txt I inserted the following: hdmi_group=2 hdmi_mode=87 hdmi_cvt 800 480 60 6 0 0 0 hdmi_drive=1 With any other system like Raspbian, Volumio and max2play the cursor is always exactly at the touchpoint. What is different in piCorePlayer? Any ideas? +---+ |Filename: waveshare_touch_problem.jpg | |Download: http://forums.slimdevices.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=30121| +---+ Clausi's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=69940 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=111787 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix

Thank you Carsten. I tried to solve the problem with the quirks as described in the raspberry.org forum but this did change nothing. The USB 3.0/3.1 behaviour stayed to be the same. So for now my solution is to connect the USB-Hub to the USB 2.0 connector of the Raspi, which is fast enough to play music from my SSD which is a Sandisk Ultra 3D with 1TB. I use an Inateck F2005 enclosure. Which brand/type of enclosure is yours which is working fine? I think the USB 3.0/3.1 problem has something to do with piCorePlayer since other systems like volumio or max2play work well with the hub connected to the USB 3.0 connectors of the Raspi. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] ANNOUNCE: piCorePlayer 6.0.0
I would like to come back to my posting #60. After a reboot time (hour, minute) was not anymore there and boot took a very long time as before. So the change of time server to my local Fritzbox did not have the positive effect as I thougt before. After some tests I found out the following: The problem is due to my SSD fixed disc connected to the USB 3.0 connector of the Raspberry Pi 4B. In my normal setup the SSD is connected to the USB 3.0 of the Raspi by a Exsys USB 3.1 Hub. Connecting directly to the USB 3.0 of the Raspi does not work since Picoreplayer does not boot completely in this case. I think this is caused ba a lack of power. If the Hub is connected to the USB 3.0 of the Raspi the bootup needs a lot of time and hour and minutes are not present after bootup as mentioned in my posting before. When I connect the SSD directly or via the Exsys Hub to a USB 2.0 connector of the Raspi everything works fine. My question now is, whether piCoreplayer has any problems with the USB 3.0 of the Rasberry Pi 4? Other systems like Volumio or max2play do not show this behaviour. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] ANNOUNCE: piCorePlayer 6.0.0
Thank you very much for the advise. Didn´t know this section of the setup. I changed the time server to my local Fritzbox and now everything is going fine. Bootup is much faster, even with the USB sda1 mount and my Squeezebox Radio shows the time in standby mode now. I don´t why this is working better because reaching pool.ntp.org was no problem when I tried to reach it from console. Doesn´t matter for me. Problem is solved. Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] ANNOUNCE: piCorePlayer 6.0.0
Thank you paul- I checked several threads and watched the dmesg but didn't find out where the time server is set and how to check if connection to the timeserver is possible. The bottom row of the web frontend is "piCorePlayer | piCorePlayer v6.0.0 | www v0005 | linux 4.19.105-pcpCore_v8 | piCore v10.3pCP | Squeezelite v1.9.6-1206-pCP" and as I understood at the end should time and date be shown but there is nothing. Would it be possible that you give me some advise where how to fix this? Another question: during boot it takes a very long time (approx. 2 minutes) to mount my sda1 which is a ssd disc of 1TB connected via a Exsys USB 3.1 hub. Is that normal? Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] ANNOUNCE: piCorePlayer 6.0.0
I have a Squeezebox Radio, which is connected to the LMS of my piCorePlayer by WIFI. In the setup it´s told to show a clock when in standby mode (switched off by off-button). Since I´m running the piCorePlayer setup the display is black without showing the clock. Before I used max2play and I didn´t have this problem. Could the reason be that during bootup of piCorePlayer I have the message: Waiting for valid date before starting LMS, which is finished by timeout? I think that without having actual date and time LMS can´t supply this information to the radio and hence screen stays black during standby. Am I right? In case, what can I change to avoid this problem? PiCorePlayer is running on Rasperry Pi 4B with 2 Gb Clausi's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=69940 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=111787 ___ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
