Survey: Would you buy one or more widgets from the PRO PACK separately?

2024-06-14 Thread Klaus major-k via use-livecode
Hi friends,

Livecode is selling most of their widgets separately,
however not the ones from the PRO PACK:
Mobile Debugger
Script Profiler
tsNet PRO
mergAccessory
PDF Viewer

But unfortunately the PRO PACK is quite expensive:
328.90 Euro PLUS VAT!

I am sure most of you do not need all the widgets in the
PRO PACK, but maybe one or two of them.

So please just write if you'd like to buy one or more of these,
maybe we can induce LC to also sell them separately.

--

I confess that this is a quite selfish idea from me, I only
use the PDF Viewer widget in my freeware* app and the
app exclusively made for my band mates, three of us use
an iPad and two of us an Android tablet.

*It's actually "donationware", but noone donated any money
so far in the last couple of years. :-/

I bought the complete PRO Pack in the last three years,
although I ONLY need the PDF viewer, but cannot afford
this anymore. Especially since I do not earn any money
with my apps and I need to renew my Apple Developer
Membership in october.

I would LOVE to buy just the PDF widget separately!

Thank you for reading!

P.S.
Since Android browser cannot display PDF files out of the box,
this is no alternative for me.

error when creating iOS app: failed to create launch screen: /* com.apple.ibtoolerrors */

2024-05-30 Thread Klaus major-k via use-livecode
Hi friends,

I just wanted to create an iOS app with my new M2 MacMini.
LC 9.6.11,
Xcode 15.0
Available Device SDKs: 17.0
Available simulators: 17.0

All iOS icons and the launch image are present and have the
correct dimensions, however LC tells me:
---
There was an error while saving the standalone application
failed to create launch screen: /* com.apple.ibtoolerrors */
/Volumes/ 1TB/Livecode Hilfe/Klaus/LeadSheeter
X/Leadsheeter-X/Leadsheeter-X.app/LaunchScreen.storyboard:
error: iOS 17.0 Platform Not installed.
---
Platform not installed? What does that mean? What am I missing?
Thanks for any hint.

AHA!

Don't get me wrong, this is a wonderful widget and I replaced the DataGrid

sounds logical, but I'm not sure, maybe you could store the ID of the last
group somewhere.
Use IT right after the groupd command:
...
select this_and_that
group
put IT into the_id_of_just_created_group

for PolyLists.

It appears to me that the new widgets have been created by someone who has no
or very little knowledge of LC.

We have:
...
delete line 2 of fld 1
...
dispatch "DeleteLine" to group "DataGrid" with 2
...

So why not create a more or less similar syntax for new widgets, so we don't
have
to use the dictionary for similar tasks. I don't get it...

Strange syntax in new widgets!?

Hi firends,

this came up in the LC forum: How can I delete a line in a PolyGrid?

"deleteline" or something did not work, so I searched the dictionary
and found that one needs to set a PROPERTY to do so:
...
put 2 into tLine
set the pgDeleteRow of widget "PolyGrid" to tLine
...
Very intuitive in my opinion. NOT!

you could use the "splashscreen" approach to update one or more stacks, but
that will
of course only work if you do not want to update the actual engine/runtime.

However I'm not sure if Apple will allow this, no problem on Android however.

Latest PolyGrid

2024-02-13 Thread Klaus major-k via use-livecode
Hi all,

yesterday I installed the latest version of "livecode_enhancements-1_0_34"
but the new "Polygrid" version 1.8.0 completely wrecked my working stack,
so I had to go back to the previous version 1.7.4.

E.g. it threw an error on my "on cellclick" handler just by setting:
-> set the pgData of me to tArray

on cellClick pColumnNumber,pRowNumber, pCellRect
-> ERROR: pColumnNumer is not a number (if I remember correctly)

Noone clicked anything I just set the pgData :-/

And also wrecked the order of its correctly prepared (in the array) content.
Big fun! :-/

Anyone else experienced something like this?

ah, sounds promising, thank you! :-)
I wanted to post the list directly from an LC field, but can surely store its

But how is the syntax in my case?

tsneterr: (3) URL using bad/illegal format or missing URL

2023-12-16 Thread Klaus major-k via use-livecode
Hi friends,

I am trying to upload a (not so long) urlencoded text list
to my server, but get the tsNet error as in the subject.

In the form of:
...
## Remove spaces etc.
put clean_name(tSetlist) into tDateiname
put "whatever" & CR & urlencode(fld "setlist") into tInhalt
put "https://www.MYSERVER.de/setlists.lc?name=; & tDateiname & "=" &
tInhalt into tUrl
...

The LC server script:
-

The error comes from LC and NOT from the server, tAnwort = EMPTY!

The URL is definitively correct!
Is the urlencoded string in tInhalt too long for a parameter?
Or is a CR in that parameter not a good idea?

Any hints very appreciated, thanks in advance.

Update for new LC plug-in

The stack can now enter the pathnames (relative or absolute) of the
resulting icons to the "Standalone Applications Settings" of a selected

If you are interested, take a look here:

Possible enhancement request

2023-11-02 Thread Klaus major-k via use-livecode
Hi friends,

before I post an enhancment request to the "Qualtiy Center", I wanted to hear
your opinions about this.

Wouldn't it be great if ALL widgets would receive and handle at least a mouseup
(and mousedown) meassage?
I have always wondered why that is not the case.

This way scripting would be a lot easier for us and we do not have to remember
the many different messages
the widgets have. Yes, they can be seen in the script editor on the left side,
nevertheless... :-)

Examples:
PolyGrid -> cellclick
PolyList -> itemclick
Segmentedcontrol -> hilitechanged
Switch Button -> hilitechanged
Radial Slider -> valueChanged
Navigation Bar -> hilitechanged
Line Graph -> receives NO message at all?

Maybe I forgot one or two things here, but I think you get the picture.
Thank you for your opinions.

I wrote earlier in this thread:
...

That does the trick for me and UNhilited the widget.

So gave him an impression of how my layout and polygrids look like and where
I want to UNhilte the index.

I tried had:
...
set the hilitedrow of widget "index" to "0"
...
set the hilitedrow of widget "index" to 0
...
set the pgHilitedText of widget "index" to ""
...
set the pgHilitedText of widget "index" to EMPTY
...
no dice!?

See here, I have a long list of PDF files and clicking the widget "index" will
filter the PDF list with that char.
<https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/ygmnzx3s7pvknpbycvi6z/index_polygrid.png?rlkey=c4as77jo96c0e2em3bde9tpk8=0>

Clicking button "A-Z" will the display all the files.
I need to UNhilite the index in that button.

No idea why it does not work? But the workaround does, so problem solved (for
me and for now).

ANDROID player won't play MP3 from server but locally?

2023-10-22 Thread Klaus major-k via use-livecode
Hi friends,

I'm having problems to play a MP3 (5 MB) from my server.
And yes, I waited up to a minute before I closed the app.
Works fine when I play it locally.

The device is connected via (not slow) W-Lan to the internet.

LC 9.6.10, macOS 12.7, Android 8.01

I created two buttons for create and delete and put this into the card script
-
command create_player

   ## This creates a black rect and nothing more?!
   ## I don't even see the ANSWER at the end of the script
   put "https://www.major-k.de/blueprint.mp3; into tURL

   ## Works immediately when using Safari browser on my Mac,
   ## so the file is definitively there and URL correct!

   ## And yes, I added SSL & Encryption neccessary for -> httpS

   ## This works as advertised
   ## put specialfolderpath("resources") & "/blueprint.mp3" into tURL
   mobilecontrolCreate "player", "mplayer"
   mobileControlSet "mplayer", "visible", TRUE

   ## That grc is hidden:
mobileControlSet "mplayer", "rect", (the rect of grc "player")
   mobileControlSet "mplayer", "backgroundcolor", "213,143,116"

   mobileControlSet "mplayer", "showController", TRUE
   mobileControlSet "mplayer", "filename", tURL

   if mobileControlGet("mplayer", "duration") = 0 then
answer "Player is not initialised correctly"
   end if
   mobileControlDo "mplayer", "play"
end create_player

command delete_player
   mobileControlDo "mplayer", "stop"
   mobileControlDelete "player", "mplayer"
end delete_player

Most of the time I have to tap the "delete" button at least 5 times or more
before the player finally disappears?
However the sound stops immediately at the first tap!?

What am I missing?
Thanks for any hint!

My update is currently "in examination" in the Production track.
So I think that was more a general warning regarding my initial app.

Now I have to wait for the result of the examination.

Just checked what is checked in Android Studio:
SDK platform -> Android Tiramisu (Tiramisu) -> API Level 33
SDK Tools -> Android SDL Build-Tools 31.0.0
Check! :-)

Google new API 33 requirements

2023-10-19 Thread Klaus major-k via use-livecode
Hi friends,

I installed the build tools for API 33 and created an update
for my app.

In the STAB I selected : Minimum Android Version -> 8.0
and uploaded the app to Google.

Now I read in the Google Play Console this for my app:
...
API Level 26+
Target-SDK 33
...
However Google still shows me that my app is targeted to
Android Version 12 API 31!?
Not sure if they mean the previous version I wanted to update?

Does that mean I have to select -> 13 (API 33) as the
Minimum Android Version in the STAB?

If yes, is the app then still backwards-compatible with older
devices/android versions? My tablet has Android version 8.0 installed.

Thanks for any hints!

add this to the script your mainstack:
-

close stack "your splash stack here"
  ## do more closestack stuff
end closestack
-
That should do the trick.

Hint:
To avoid this "Windows feature:

add a dummy handler to your standalone/splash stack script:

Android: Myapp stopped

2023-10-12 Thread Klaus major-k via use-livecode
Hi friends,

I am trying to install my app on the tablets of my bandmembers
and succeeded on all but one!?

Info:
Samsung Galaxy Tab S
Android 6.0.1, API 23

After installation from LC (Test) I tap on the icon and get the alert:
-> Leadsheeter stopped (angehalten)
immediately, no more info.

I already emptied cache and data and whatnot and even restarted
the device a couple of times, no dice!?

The only info I could get after starting Android Studio was in the
"Device File Explorer" panel for the device which reads:

data -> app -> com.major-k.de.leadsheeter-1
run-as: Could not set capabilities: Operation not permitted

API too old? Anything else I can check in Android Studio?

Any hints very welcome!

Thanks a lot in advance.

Best

But LC claimed this for version 9.6.10 (from the LC blog):
--
LiveCode 9.6.10 Stable Released
...
FEATURES ADDED:
Android API 33 update
The Android engine is now built using version 33 of the Android API, a
requirement for new apps submitted to the Google Play Store. Note you’ll have
to install “Android API 33” using the SDK Manager in Android Studio.
-
And I am using LC 9.6.10!
I installed API 33 for this reason. What gives? :-(

And we MUST use API 33 for new apps or updates of older app.
Or did I misunderstand this Google requirement?

Android Standalone buiulding error

2023-09-28 Thread Klaus major-k via use-livecode
Hi friends,

I created an Android runtime from this stack in April without any problem.
Now I changes some minor cosmetic issues and got this error when "Save as
standalone..."

Only thing I can remember is that I added API 33 in Android Studio.

macOS 12.7, LC 9.6.10. Android Studio 2021.3

There was an error while saving the standalone application
Could not encode class bundle - error:
Methods with invalid locals information
void androidx.orint.Printre persprintUriAdapters
I.onrosttxecutelandroid.araonics.Bitman)
Information in locals-table is invalid with respect to the stack map table.
Local refers to non-present stack map type for register: 2 with constraint
OBJECT
Info in
/private/var/tolders/8v/k8b7ir8503db3h60tdt9pbwa/T/Temporarvltems/tmp.6277.nK1natOk/22/classes.iar:androidx/viewoaaer/widaet/PagerTitleStrip.class
Methods with invalld locals intormation

Intormation in locals-table is invalid with respect to the stack map table.

Any idea what is going wrong here?
Thank you!

thank you for the hint.
There is also an Android app of iGigbook!

However, why buy something when you can do it by yourself, much more fun.
My app does exactly (sic!) what I need.

Yes.

Via its internal rechargable battery, will recharge it overnight with no
connection to my Mac.

At home via W-Lan, at gigs no internet connection (no SIM card or something!)

No, sometimes I get the black screen immediately when I start the tablet at a
gig or rehearsal, sometimes after several quit/start of the app.

Nothing remarkable here, I only fill the two polygrids (< 10 entries each) on
the first card on preopenstack.

So the LC Android engine is a bit RAM "hungry"? Or are the new widgets like
PolyGrid?

Strange, I have another LC app installed on my Samsung Galaxy J7 (2016) cell
phone
with 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB HD which never ever crashed or hung in the last year?

I already disabled and deleted everything that could be disabled and deleted,
since I
exclusivley (sic!) use the tablet to display sheet music. Therefore I really
wonder
why this does not happen more often?

Will try to check the "logcat", when this will happen the next time.

OK, thank you.

But I'm using a Mac and it looks like that tool is not available here in the

Maybe available somewhere in "Android Studio".

And my problem NEVER happened when I'm at home, only during band rehearsals and

Android ANR (App not responding | Jacque was right :-)

2023-09-14 Thread Klaus major-k via use-livecode
Hi all,

yesterday it* happened again!

*Around one of twenty times I start my app on my Samsung tablet,
I get a black screen.

I started the tablet, opened my app -> OK
quit the app and started again -> OK
quit the app and started again -> OK
quit the app and attached my USB footswitch
started the app -> BLACK SCREEN
That also happens without the attached footswitch

Then I took Jacque's advice and waited a bit and after about
30 seconds I got the "Application not responding" alter with
two options:
-> Close app
-> Wait

So I clicked "Quit" and could start the app anew without any problem!

I am really wondering why this happens?!

On the first card there are just two polygrids with < 10 entries each,
loaded "on openstack" on the fly from the folders and files in the resources
folder
See screenshot here:

(Ordner = folders)
NO PDF is loaded yet!
NO resizestack message, this is just for me and my tablet.
NO "accelerated rendering" set for the stack

Any hints very welcome, not sure if I should open a bug report, since this
only happens from time to time, about 1 of twenty app starts.

macOS 12.6.9, LC 9.6.10, Android 8.1, Android API 33

loaded "on openstack" on the fly from the folders and files in the resources

I had success by setting the dgColumns to EMPTY first and later to the new
"fewer" columns:
## Button "Fewer Columns"

  local tSum
  lock screen

  ## !!
set the pgColumns of widget "myTable" to EMPTY
 ## !!

  put "rowname" into tColA[1]["name"]

OK, if I have the time I will wait next time and see what happens.

It happen when I start the app, at that point there is no PDF loaded, just the
"start card"
with a couple of poly grids.

It also happened in the same "session", means no switching the device off and
on again.
I started the device then opened my app, no problems.
Then I quit my app and started again, BOOM, black screen.

sorry, my fault, I obviously have an older version of the tablet and it does in
fact run Android 8.1.
However it is not upgradable.

I already did that, snice I only need the device for displaying PDF leadsheets.
But if it would be a memory issue, then it would happen more often, I think.

The problem is that this is not reproducable, it happens out of a sudden if it
happens.
Even the hardware BACKKEY does not work in that situation, only the HOMEKEY so
I can
at least quit the app.

Android black screen again...

2023-08-10 Thread Klaus major-k via use-livecode
Hi friends,

maybe you remember my problem, that my app
turns into a black screen occacionally.

This has happened again about four or five times since
I reported it here.

This never happens at home, only when I am at a band
rehearsal, but never at a gig (fingers crossed).

Restarting the dveice definitively cures this, thank you Panos,
but sometimes, especially at a gig, I do not have the time to
do so. :-/

So any further hints highly appreciated!

macOS 12.6.8, LC 9.6.9, android 5.1 on a SAMSUNG TAB A tablet.
I'm mainly using the PDF widget if that matters...

Android app black screen?

2023-07-24 Thread Klaus major-k via use-livecode
Hi all,

today I used my Android app at home, no problems.
Then I went to our band rehearsal, started the app and
only got a black screen!?

Everything else on the device worked without problems.
De- and re-installing the app fixed it.

Has someone also experienced something like this?

Samsung tablet TAB A, Android 5.1, LC 9.6.9.

someone from a german bass player forum sent me an screenshot of the app
"MobileSheets":
<https://play.google.com/store/search?q=mobilesheets=apps>

This appears after clicking the PLUS sign (or "Import" button?) in that app,
which looks like a "regular" "Open..." dialog:
<https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/0pzopitzw7agqqr8rtghr/android_import_gui.png?rlkey=3ts5l42p85t7djcuv2ubawlzm=0>

So I dare to naively ask: Why can't LC offer something like this? 8-)

missing folders in resource folder

2023-07-18 Thread Klaus major-k via use-livecode
Hi friends,

I added a folder "daten" in the "Copy files" tab in the "Standalone Application
settings".
Inside of this folder are five more folders and two of them are EMPTY.

The two empty folders do NOT appear in the Android runtime if I do:
...
put specialfolderpath("resources") & "/daten" into tFolder
put folders(tFolder) into fld xyz
## I only get the NOT empty folders in the field!?
...
Is this a feature or a bug?

thank you, will install and try Solid Explorer!

Yes, definitively!
The "Downloads" or "Documents" folder would be a good start, otherwise we
cannot create apps
where the user needs to add more files.

Since this is an app for my personal pleasure, I will create a way to "sync"
local files with files on
my server.

permanency of an unsigned Android app on the phone?

2023-07-18 Thread Klaus major-k via use-livecode
Hi all,

if I "Do not sign" my Android app and let someone install
the app via Google Drive, will the app cease to work at
some point like iOS apps do after 90 days (I think)?

Thanks for any hint!

Do you mean in the description on the page in the Google Play Store?

well, maybe.

However that entering a misspelled app name will lead to a successfull find is
really ridiculous!
sehen - hören - merkn -> App found (missing E renders this to a NON german
word!)
instead of
sehen - hören - merken -> no result 8-)

Re: Android and USB footswitch

2023-07-17 Thread Klaus major-k via use-livecode
Hi friends,

FYI: I solved the problem!

1. For testing I ordered the cheapest USB footswitch fom Mr. Pesos -> 15.99 Euro
2. Also ordered an USB-A to Micro-USB adapter
3. Downloaded the software for setting up the footswitch, there is even a Mac
version!
4. Configured the footswitch to act as a mouseclick
5. Tested with a quick LC app on my Android tablet and...
... IT WORKS, hooray! :-)

The P.S. in my initial posting is still waiting for an answer. :-)

Since PDFs are not accessible via "mobilepickmedia" are there ANY other ways to
add
some PDFs later without having to download them from some URL?

just received a response from Google.

It is completely generic, does not make any sense to me, but it looks like they
do NOT
search for the correct and complete title of an app in their database. :-/

Maybe I do not understand it correctly?

Hi Klaus,

Thanks for contacting Google Play Developer Support.

Google Play app search works across title, developer name, and app
descriptions.
Your title should be unique and accessible, avoid common terms, and reinforce
what your app is about.

Using common or generic words like "Puzzle" or "Sports" can often increase the
total number of potential search results, thus making your app more difficult
to find.
Using the search phrase Sehen-Hören-Merken forces our search engine to
autocorrect
the search term and return results as if the search term were "Sehen - Hören -
Merken" (in quotes).

For more information about Google Search Operators, please see this Google
Search Help Center article.

Search for an app in Google Play Store

2023-07-11 Thread Klaus major-k via use-livecode
Hi friends,

strange results whjen searching a german app in the Google Playstore.
We have an app namde -> Sehen - Hören - Merken
in the Apple and Google store.
iOS

Android

However it is not easy to find the app in Google be it on the PC/Mac
(via browser URL: https://play.google.com/store) or on an Android Device
with the Googgle app:
1. If I enter -> Sehen - Hören
App is found

2. If I enter its full name: Sehen - Hören - Merken
NO results

3. If I enter its full name and its file externsion: Sehen - Hören - Merke.app
App is found.

Any hintst that may shed some light on this phenomenon very appreciated.
Thank a lot in advance!

PDF widget and "pinch zoom"

2023-06-17 Thread Klaus major-k via use-livecode
Hi all,

I just found out that the PDF widget supports "pinch zoom"
(correct term?) on Android. KIND OF!
It is VERY VERY jerky, but somehow works, yet unpredictable,
takes some seconds to finish.

Is this an undocumented feature?
If yes, any chance that this can/will be optimized so it really
works as exspected, read "fluently"?

Thanks for any hint!
