Timezone library - how to use in Livecode Server?

2018-09-04 Thread Matthias Rebbe via use-livecode
Hi,

i´ve just noticed that the new Timezone Library is not available under Livecode
server. I´ve checked the Extension folder of the desktop version of LC and
found an .lcb file, which means that the library was written in Livecode
Builder.

Is there a way to use such libraries with Livecode Server? Or are LCB libraries
not usable under LC server in general?

Regards,

Matthias

There are 2 possible ways to get rid of that notes.

Either: With only the datagrid and lcTasklist plugins opened, you should only
see 2 or 3 notes. Click on each note to open the script editor. you´ll will see
the note right away. Change the keyword and save after you´ve changed the
scripts.

Or: If i remember right that notes use all the index word TODO. Remove that
keyword from the Active Index Words field in lcTaskList preferences/Words.

Re: [OT]Silly weekend LC poll

2018-08-25 Thread Matthias Rebbe via use-livecode

CHAR rhymes with far
LOC rhymes with lock.

This is at least how i pronounce them. But i am native German and not native
English.

Btw.: due to the fact that LC language is english like, you should see my
comments and variable names in my scripts.
They are mixed, some comments are in english some in german, even in one and
the same script. It could be that i use tDate in one script and in another one
tDatum as date var.
But that´s an other story.

Matthias

Geoff,

now when clicking on the arrows to collapse the stack, nothing happens,
regardless where the stack is placed on the desktop.

But when i open the Message Watcher and click on the arrows, then the script
editor opens the script of rev_s_revNavigator.livecodescript

and shows this error

stack "rev_s_revNavigator": execution error at line 1576 (Operators is: error

Re: revNavigator - Cloning a card - am i doing something wrong?

2018-08-21 Thread Matthias Rebbe via use-livecode
Geoff,
thanks for the quick update.

There´s another thing i noticed:

I moved the opened revNavigator stack on the right side of the LC Menu below
the Mac OS X menu bar.
When i click the arrow icon to collaps the revNavigator stack, then it is moved
outside of the screen.

I have to change the y-coordinate from 29 to 155 to get it displayed again.

Regards,
Matthias

revNavigator - Cloning a card - am i doing something wrong?

2018-08-21 Thread Matthias Rebbe via use-livecode
Hi,

today i wanted to clone a card with Navigator, but the cloned card then is
added to the revNavigator stack instead to the original stack. And much more
important, after cloning the card revNavigator is going to that cloned card. So
no way to use Navigator until i restart.

I tried both, cloning from the card list and also cloning when “this card” is
selected.

Am i doing something wrong or am i missing something?

Regards,

Matthias

For those who do not know lcTasklist

2018-08-20 Thread Matthias Rebbe via use-livecode
Hi,

I´ve purchased the plugin lcTasklist a long time ago and used it now and then.
But now i am totally in love with this great tool.
I was working on a really big project for months and i needed to add some debug
code, special comments and special information in my scripts and i had to mark
some code for later reviewing. Without lcTasklist it would have been really
difficult or maybe nearly impossible to find all of that again in my scripts.
With lcTasklist i not even got a list of these "comments", but was able to
jump directly to that code.

This is a must have. Livecode Ltd. really should consider to license this
plugin to deliver it with Livecode.

The plugin costs $11.90 / Euro 11.31 and is worth every cent. So if you do not
know about it and want to get more information, then look here
.

Matthias

Re: Is anyone using tsNet external with LCserver?

For those who are interested.

HostM upgraded their systems this weekend. After this upgrade i am able to use
my custom LC Server 9 Business installation (.htaccess method) with tsNET.
So it seems, tsNET is needing more current libraries than LC 9 Server itself.

LC Builder and 3rd Part DLLs under Windows

2018-08-07 Thread Matthias Rebbe via use-livecode
Hi,

i make use of the Widgets in LC 9 very often and i am really impressed what is
possible with LCB.
I have no deep knowledge of LCB, but if i understand correctly then LCB is able
to call OS APIs, right?

If so, is it also possible to call functions of a 3rd party DLL under Windows?

I know there is a very nice but old example on Ken Ray´s page how to use
external DLLs in LC,

But now with LCB i would prefer LCB to do the complete “wrapping”.

So would it be possible? And if so, are there any examples available already?

Matthias

Yes, 2of5 interleaved.

As i wrote,
we had to increase the width of the black bar bars and reduce the clear ones.

I found one called “Dobson2of5i” or so, but the size of the wide black bar was
not double but triple. The laser printer prints were readable by the usb
scanner, but not the thermal ones.
I´ve then created my own with fontographer but with the wider bar double in
size of the narrow one. With that font both the laser and the thermal prints
were readable by the scanner.
But the narrow clear bars had not always the exact width on the thermal
prints. So that a barcode showed the narrow clear bars in differents width.
Thats why we decided to create the barcode with graphics.

Just out of interest i will try the following the next days: I create a barcode
with the font and also with the graphics, then import a snapshot of them and
print and scan them.
I will try both with and w/o defining the dpi of the snapshot. Maybe i have to
set it to 203 for thermal printing. We´ll see.

Anyway. This barcode stuff was an interesting distraction from the normal work.

Regards,

Matthias

Re: drawing a Barcode without a Barcode font

2018-07-25 Thread Matthias Rebbe via use-livecode
Our thermal prints, both qrcodes and barcodes, are scannable w/o problems with
our iOS devices. So resolutions is not a problem.

Although we were able to successfully print the labels and are awaiting a
positive confirmation from the carrier, i will try to import a snapshot of the
barcode and will check if that prints look better.

Re: drawing a Barcode without a Barcode font

2018-07-25 Thread Matthias Rebbe via use-livecode
Yes, with iPhone and our USB scanners we are able to scan that “wider” bars,
but i am not sure the highspeed scanners of the carrier can.
The packages are scanned by high speed scanners while they are carried and
sorted on a“tractor tapes”. Btw, us tractor tape the correct expression?

If the thermal transfer labels are accepted by the carrier then i will add an
option for the user to switch between laser and thermal printing. The app will
use different settings for laser and thermal printing.
So in case the TT printer is broken, they can switch over the laser printer.

Re: drawing a Barcode without a Barcode font

2018-07-22 Thread Matthias Rebbe via use-livecode
I have to add something.

As I wrote, we were able to successfully scan the labels. This is true as long
as we print the labels with a laser printer.

If we print the labels with a thermo printer (203 dpi) then the code cannot be
scanned with the values i posted before.
We had set the line thickness of the rectangles to 0 and had to increase the
width of the black bars and decrease the width of the clear ones.

So the code below shows the settings which allow us to scan the labels with a
Toshiba B-EV4D and a Zebra LP 2844.

 put “3" into tNarrow
 put “6" into tWide
set the width of grc "narrowC" to (tNarrow - 2)
set the width of grc "narrowB" to (tNarrow -3)
set the width of grc "wideC" to tWide
set the width of grc "wideB" to tWide

Matthias Rebbe

We tried here with iPhone and also with an USB scanner. Both devices scanned
the code successfully.

I have just finished a program for shipment. It fetches customer and invoice
data from the accounting software and creates then the shipment labels

Property Inspector, Text Formatting, Text style ->Plain Button?

2018-07-19 Thread Matthias Rebbe via use-livecode
Hi,

just noticed again that in the property inspector under text formating there is
not the “plain” button/icon anymore to set the text to plain. In LC 6 this
button is still there.

Is this a bug or are there reasons why this button is not there anymore?

What do you think?

Matthias

drawing a Barcode without a Barcode font

2018-07-19 Thread Matthias Rebbe via use-livecode
Hi,

at the moment i am using a special barcode font “2of5interleaved” to
draw/create a Code25/2of5interleaved barcode.
The code itself is calcualted by script and then displayed using that barcode
font

The font only has 4 characters 2 black bars (1one them is twice the width of
the other) and 2 blank bars(also 1 twice the width of the other)
When printed, the smaller bars should have a width of at least 0,5mm and the
wider one at least 1mm.

How would i create the bars? Should i use vertical lines or SVGs?
Did anyone have done something similar already?

Regards,
Matthias

how to refresh LC IDE dictionary after i changed a api.lcdoc file?

2018-07-18 Thread Matthias Rebbe via use-livecode
Hi,

i changed some information in an api.lcdoc file of an extension. In my case i
added some additional examples. Each new example with a leading “Example:”
tag.
How do i get that new information displayed in the dictionary. Even after a
restart of LC i just see the old information, but not the updated one.
Do i have to refresh the dictionary cache or what ever in some way?

Matthias

Re: How to create a QR Code Version 14 (73x73modules)

2018-07-17 Thread Matthias Rebbe via use-livecode
Monte,

you are my hero. :)

I´ve changed line 1486 to
command qrCreate pImg, pData, pECC, pSize, pMask, pMinVersion, pMaxVersion

and changed the line 1525 from
repeat with tVersion = 1 to 40
to
if pMinVersion is empty then put 1 into pMinVersion
if pMaxVersion is empty then put 40 into pMaxVersion
repeat with tVersion = pMinVersion to pMaxVersion

It´s working! ! !

I will open an enhancement report tomorrow afternoon and will add my patch
after i´ve added some additional code for error handling in case pMinVersion is
greater than pMaxVersion or if pMaxVersion >40 and so on.

Thank you very much.

Matthias

How to create a QR Code Version 14 (73x73modules)

2018-07-17 Thread Matthias Rebbe via use-livecode
Hi.

My app needs to create qr codes. This is not a problem so far, as Splash21´s
qrCode library is now included in Livecode.

My problem is that i need to create qr Codes with exact version 14, which has a
matrix size of 73 x 73. The customer needs exact that kind of code. The codes
are scanned by a parcel service and the tech papers of the parcel service note
exact those requirements.

As the qrCode library in LC automatically decides according to the number and
types of the characters, what version is used for creation, i am not sure if
this is even possible. But is there a way to create just version 14 codes
regardless of the number of character? Maybe with a modified library?

Matthias

Re: Property inspector / custom properties - how can i resize the value field

2018-07-16 Thread Matthias Rebbe via use-livecode
Tom,
so you are also living with this? In LC 8.1.10 it´s even not possible to
maximize the height of the Property Inspector. And the value field also
displays only 3 lines of text.
I can´t believe that this was not noticed by one of the LC Team. Are they not
using the PI?
I noticed it already in LC8 and lived with it instead of filing a bug.

But i´ve done so now <https://quality.livecode.com/show_bug.cgi?id=21423>.

Bob, that doesn´t work. The list field of the custom properties expands, but
the value field at the bottom still keeps its size and there is no way to

Property inspector / custom properties - how can i resize the value field

2018-07-16 Thread Matthias Rebbe via use-livecode
Hi,
is there a way to resize the value field for custom properties in the Property
Inspector? It just shows 3 lines. I think that is not enough, especially if one
wants to store larger text files there.
Older versions of LC allowed to resize that field if i remember right. Why was
that changed.

Anyway, does anyone know how to increase the height of that field? That would
be awesome.

Hm, On-Rev support told me that GLIBC 2.1.4 is needed to run Livecode Server 9
64bit on On-Rev. The 32bit version is working on On-Rev with the older one.
They did not mention that this library is also needed to get the 32bit tsNET
external running with Livecode server 32 bit on On-Rev.

Hi Panos,

thanks for the explanation.

And yes, i was asking about the tsNet/LC server issue. I am in urgent need to
get it working.

Btw., as it even does not work on your own hosting platform On-Rev/Livecode

And if so, which OS and which LC server was used?

Re: WordOut : Where to put the license key?

2018-06-21 Thread Matthias Rebbe via use-livecode

Hi Ludovic,

the serial number is used in your script.
First load wordout library, then useregisterWordout “x”
to register wordout in your script.
Replace x with your license key.

For those who are interested.

Re: Livecode 9 Server seems not to run when custom installed on On-Rev and HostM

2018-05-31 Thread Matthias Rebbe via use-livecode
Hi Ralf,

i´ve received a similar explanation today from Support, but with some
additional information

"Yes, I am aware that LiveCode 9 does not work
because of the glibc dependency problem. However, fixing it is not proving
straightforward. The OS requires glibc 2.12 and cannot run with 2.14, but as
you know LiveCode requires 2.14. There are possibilities of getting them
installed together on the same machine, but Apache is not recognising the
additional install.

Obviously we need to get LiveCode 9 running on our servers, and I'm in process
of getting a test server so that I can work out the changes needed without
risking everybody's accounts.”

Regarding your question:

I´ve installed 32bit Livecode Server Business and that is working now.
http://support.dermattes.de/index.lc9b <http://support.dermattes.de/index.lc9b>

Did you try to run Livecode Server from ssh command line? That sometimes
returns useful error messages.

You should send a support request to supp...@on-rev.com
<mailto:supp...@on-rev.com> with your problem. It seems Robin Miller is very
quick in responding.
I´ve sent my normal support request yesterday evening outside the office hours
of Livecode Ltd. and received an answer today at 12:51PM which is 11:51AM in
the UK.
That response time is of course acceptable for non emergency requests.

Regards,

Matthias

Re: Livecode 9 Server seems not to run when custom installed on On-Rev and HostM

2018-05-30 Thread Matthias Rebbe via use-livecode
Just for those who are interested: I´ve contacted also HostM support and btw
they responded within 14 minutes !
Their answer:
"We currently utilize the 32-bit version (which works correctly) for the
system-wide installation, because the 64-bit version of LiveCode Server 9 has
additional system requirements and only works on some of our servers.
Eventually, all of our servers will be in a position to support the 64-bit
version of LiveCode Server 9, but until then, we will deploy the 32-bit version
in the meantime.
Therefore we recommend at this time to use the 32-bit version of LiveCode
Server 9 for your custom installation.”

As LC Server 8 64 bit was working, i never have thought that version 9 64 does
not. Tried the 32bit version on On-Rev and HostM and it is working.

So in short: Use Livecode Server 32 bit on On-Rev and HostM and maybe other
hosting servers.

While i understand that HostM is not supporting Livecode Server 9 64 bit at the
moment on all of their servers, i do not understand why Livecode does not
support version 9 64bit on their own hosting platform.

Anyway. I finally got version 9 working and now i have to find out why tsNet is
not working with my Livecode Server installations.

Regards,

Matthias

Livecode 9 Server seems not to run when custom installed on On-Rev and HostM

2018-05-30 Thread Matthias Rebbe via use-livecode
Hi,
today i noticed that i don´t get Livecode Server 9 Business to work on On-Rev
and HostM accounts.

In Browser i get an “Internal Server Error” and when running from command line
in SSH session i get:
./livecode-server: /lib64/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.14' not found (required
by ./livecode-server)

I´ve filed already a bug <https://quality.livecode.com/show_bug.cgi?id=21319>.

Did anyone else run into this? Or maybe is using Livecode Server 9?

Matthias Rebbe

Re: Is anyone using tsNet external with LCserver?

2018-05-30 Thread Matthias Rebbe via use-livecode
I´ve tried now several Livecode Server versions (Indy and Business) on On-Rev
and also HostM servers.

I am not able to get tsNet working with Livecode Server. And yes, i am using
the correct tsNet-x64.so file from the corresponding Desktop edition (Mac OS X)

So could someone who is using tsNet with Livecode Server please tell me how
Livecode Server was installed?

I am using the .htaccess method.

I am trying now for several hours and i am really fed up.

And what i completely do not understand. Why do Livecode Server Indy and
Business downloads still not include the tsNet external?

Matthias Rebbe

Fwd: Is anyone using tsNet external with LCserver?

2018-05-29 Thread Matthias Rebbe via use-livecode
Hi Charles,

i´ve checked now and my custom 8.1.10 LC Server Business returns Professional.
The tsNet-x64.so file was copied directly into the ‘externals' folder in
cgi-bin.
The file was taken from a Livecode Business 8.1.10 Mac OX S app bundle.

So this seems all to be correct, but it doesn´t work.

I even tried Livecode Server Indy 8.1.10 and the tsNet-x64.so from 8.1.10 Indy
Mac OX X app bundle.
The same.

Any ideas what i can try next? What am i missing?

Regards
Matthias

Re: Is anyone using tsNet external with LCserver?

2018-05-29 Thread Matthias Rebbe via use-livecode
I am not sure. But would that make a difference? There is only one type of
Livecode Server commercial. And according to Panos´ post to this thread the
tsNet Business external should work since release 8.1.10.

I´ve tried myself and made a custom installation on my web server. I installed
LC Server 8.1.10 commercial to the cgi-bin and copied the tsNet-x64.so (from
the Livecode Business installation on my Mac) to the externals folder on the
web server..
It´s the same. Should i try Indy instead?

Btw. Is there a LC command/function which returns what type of Livecode server
(community or commercial) is running?

Regards,

Matthias

Re: Is anyone using tsNet external with LCserver?

2018-05-28 Thread Matthias Rebbe via use-livecode
Hi Charles,

thanks. Unfortunately it does not work. I have a Hosting account at HostM.com
<http://hostm.com/>. They installed a Livecode server commercial version for me
for all of my accounts months ago, so i do not have to install it for every
addon domain folder.
Today they installed the tsNet External into the Externals folder for me. But
it was not working.
I get this error message:
file "/home/ua82/public_html/domain1/index.lc"
row 2, col 1: Handler: can't find handler (tsNetinit)
This is what they replied to support request.
"It looks like you may have to contact the developer of tsNet so they can look
into this and run some tests on their end.
The issue is complicated by the fact that the following commands do not
currently seem to work properly on LiveCode Server (9.0.0) in order to verify
which externals and their functions etc. have been loaded:
put the externals of stack “Home"
put the externalCommands of stack “Home"
put the externalFunctions of stack “Home"
put the externalPackages of stack “Home”
With all of the above command always returning empty, there becomes more
difficult to determine if the issue that you’re experiencing is caused by tsNet
not wanting to load to begin with, or by a bug in tsNet itself, but the
developer should be able to look into this.”

Any idea what might cause this.

Regards,

Matthias

Hi Panos,

thanks for your comment.

So Livecode Server 9.0 includes this fix also?

i somehow lost the overview of what fix/feature in what LC 8 was also added to
what LC9 version.

Matthias

Is anyone using tsNet external with LCserver?

2018-05-27 Thread Matthias Rebbe via use-livecode
Hi,
is anyone already using tsNet external with Livecode server? If so, is there
something i should take care of when trying to “install” / copy the external to
my custom installation?

Unfortunately the commercial LC server builds still do not contain the external.

I am pretty sure, that after the move from OHV to LiquidWeb the different

Re: on-rev choosing engine

2018-05-24 Thread Matthias Rebbe via use-livecode
You could try to use this method for .htaccess

Options +ExecCGI
Action custom-livecode /cgi-bin/livecode-server/livecode-server

SetHandler custom-livecode

Please note, that if you have several add-on domains and each domain uses its
own root folder and you want to use the custom livecode server installation
with each domain, you have to put livecode server and .htaccess into each root
folder.

Matthias

Re: Livecode Hosting and GDPR

2018-05-22 Thread Matthias Rebbe via use-livecode
jbv,

i have several hosting providers. German ones and also from other European
countries.
The German providers i work with are totally prepared and have updated their
documents in time.
Unfortunately this is not the case for the other european providers. HostM for
example is not ready, but promised to be on the 25.05.2018 at the latest.

The documents Heather is pointing to are outdated and not GDPR compliant. Sorry
Heather.
A 2nd problem with Livecode Hosting might be that they are hosted in the US. So
the data is stored outside the European Union.

Thank God my HostM accounts are all hosted at Hetzner, so at least the data is
stored in a EU country.

Re: Would Anyone Like a Ring Tone At End of Standalone Built?

2018-05-20 Thread Matthias Rebbe via use-livecode
You could add a StandaloneSaved handler to your stack which is send to the
mainstack when it was saved as a standalone.
You could add the code for playing into that handler. Maybe easier than hacking
the IDE?

Matthias

Re: macOS "Recovered files"

2018-04-24 Thread Matthias Rebbe via use-livecode
Hi Klaus,

i´ve checked here and see the same folders Recovered files(#1……10) with the
same content you are describing.
In my case there was also a .csv file in that folders. The .csv was created
with LC and was stored in temp folder originally.

I´ve then checked the temp folder and see also those files, but not the
“Recovered files..” folders.

At https://support.apple.com/kb/PH25506?viewlocale=en_US=en_US

there is a description about recovered files/folders in trash. According to
Apples description this happens when an app quits unexpectedly and is not able
to delete the temp files before it quits. After a restart of the Mac these
files are appearing in trash.

I´ve tried here now several times and reproduce it with the following steps

1. Start LC
2. Quit LC
3. Restart Mac
4. A new “Recovered Files #…” folder is in trash.

So it seems, LC 9 GM does not delete the temp files correctly before quitting
or maybe is quitting to fast or whatever and Mac OS X recovers those files
after a restart.

That seems to be a bug, doesn´t it?

Re: Posting to LiveCode Server

2018-04-18 Thread Matthias Rebbe via use-livecode
Todd,

is there a reason why you are not using the function libURLMultipartFormData to
format the data before posting?

We are using the post method for different tasks including uploading really big
files to a livecode server, but we always use libURLMultipartFormData to create
the form data.

Btw.which version of LC server is running on your side?

Re: [OT] - anybody having trouble with 'Transmit' FTP client on a Mac?

2018-04-17 Thread Matthias Rebbe via use-livecode
Graham

I very often upload Windows programs with Transmit, but normally compressed as
a Zip files. In very rare cases i upload them also as .exe.
I´ve never run into such problem. Okay, that does not really help.

Are you sure the file was completely downloaded when you tried to open it? I
remember that i got a similar error message when i tried to open an .exe file
which was still downloaded/transferred.

Regarding your question about 32 and 64 bit. LC currently creates only 32 bit
standalones for Windows.

And about the differences between the “Program Files” and “Program Files
(x86)” folders you´ll find some information here
https://www.howtogeek.com/129178/why-does-64-bit-windows-need-a-separate-program-files-x86-folder/

Any feedback for InstaMaker or WinSignHelper?

2018-04-16 Thread Matthias Rebbe via use-livecode
Hi,

did anyone on this list try or even is using one of my tools InstaMaker /
WinSignHelper? It would be very nice to get any feedback.
For me both tools are working w/o problems. But maybe someone else found
something that could be fixed, enhanced or added.

So please feel free to sent me your comments about it to
instama...@m-r-d.de <mailto:instama...@m-r-d.de>
winsignhel...@m-r-d.de <mailto:winsignhel...@m-r-d.de>

For those who have missed my announcements about the 2 tools.

InstaMaker under windows creates Windows Installers for your Livecode program.
As a side effect it creates DMG files under Mac OS X.
InstaMaker can be found here https://instamaker.dermattes.de
<https://instamaker.dermattes.de/>

WinSignHelper is a GUI for osslsigncode which allows you to sign your Windows
programs under Mac OS X.
WinSignhelper can be found here https://winsignhelper.dermattes.de

how to print a csv as formatted table?

2018-04-12 Thread Matthias Rebbe via use-livecode
Hi,

i need to print a list of data or maybe create a pdf of it. The list is
provided in csv format and the number of lines varies.
I need to print/print to Pdf that data as a formatted table with this typical
border around each field. There are only 20 rows per page allowed.
This should happen automatically without any user interaction.

What would be the best way to do it? Should i use Quartam Reports (i have still
a license laying around here) or Quartam PDF library?
Or should i just create a html table and use revprinttext, but my first tries
were not successful.

I would of course prefer a very simple solution.

What do you think? Is Quartam Reports the way to go?

Matthias

So if it´s working now with that setting and did not work w/o it then that
might be a bug in Innnosetup.
According to the docs of Innosetup this is the default setting and therefore
does not need to be specified.

Graham, did you try InstaMaker? And if so, did this happen with an Installer
created with InstaMaker also?

I will add that setting in InstaMaker anyway. Just to make sure.

Codesigning Windows standalones under Mac OS X - a simple and free gui for osslsigncode

2018-03-25 Thread Matthias Rebbe via use-livecode
Hi,

a few days ago i posted some instructions for how to code sign Windows programs
under Mac OS X with osslsigncode. Unfortunately osslsigncode must be run from
shell and signing more than 1 at a time might be complicated.

Therefore i´ve created a free little tool called WinSignHelper, which is a
simple gui for osslsigncode. Just drag a folder containing your Windows
standalone to the program window of WinSignHelper and it does the rest for you.
It scans the folder and its subfolders for .exe and .dll files and creates and
executes the needed shell commands.
You´ll need a version of osslsigncode installed on your Mac. Instructions how
to install osslsigncode can be found in the help of WinSignHelper.
WinSignHelper supports SHA1, SHA256 and dual signatures (SHA1 and SHA256)
signatures.

You´ll find more information about WinSignHelper at
https://winsignhelper.dermattes.de .

Hope it´s useful for the one or the other of the list. Please read the
quickstart guide before using it. You’ll find the quickstart guide at
https://support.dermattes.de/winsignhelper
or in the help section of
WinSignHelper

Matthias

Hi,
i am not sure, if you all alread knew about it. But for me it was totally new.

Today i was able to successfully signing a Windows .exe file under Mac OS X.

See the steps below.

If the URLs are not readable, go here to download a short pdf containing the
instructions.

Why are url in this list email always shown twice? Is there a trick to avoid
that?

Any way.

How to signcode Windows apps under Mac OS X using osslsigncode

1. If not already installed, install Homebrew using the Terminal
ruby -e "$(curl -fsSL
https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Homebrew/install/master/install)"

2. install osslsigncode using HomeBrew, enter the following into the Terminal
 brew install osslsigncode

After successful installation you should be able to sign your Windows .exe
under Mac OS X

See examples below for signing YOURAPP.exe with a p12/pfx certificate

SHA256
osslsigncode sign -pkcs12 YOURCERTIFICATEFILE.p12 -pass YOURCERTPASSWORD -h
sha2 -t TIMESTAMPSERVERURL -in /PATH/YOURAPP.exe -out /PATH/YOURAPP_signed.exe

SHA1
osslsigncode sign -pkcs12 YOURCERTIFICATEFILE.p12 -pass YOURCERTPASSWORD -h
sha1 -in /PATH/YOURAPP.exe -out /PATH/YOURAPP_signed.exe

Dual signing
osslsigncode sign -pkcs12 YOURCERTIFICATEFILE.p12 -pass YOURCERTPASSWORD -h
sha1 -in /PATH/YOURAPP.exe -out /PATH/YOURAPP_signed.exe
osslsigncode sign -pkcs12 YOURCERTIFICATEFILE.p12 -pass YOURCERTPASSWORD -h
sha2 -nest -t TIMESTAMPSERVERURL -in /PATH/YOURAPP.exe -out
/PATH/YOURAPP_signed.exe

With my Comode certificate i am using the timestamp server url
http://timestamp.comodoca.com/rfc3161

[OT] InstaMaker Wine App for Mac OS X to create Windows Installers on Mac OS X

2018-03-16 Thread Matthias Rebbe via use-livecode
Hi,

i´ve just uploaded an InstaMaker Wine app which allows you to run the Windows
version of InstaMaker on Mac OS X. With this it should be possible to create a
Windows Installer under Mac OS X. Tried it here successful under HighSierra.
The download file is about 260MB and the unzipped app is nearly 600MB. But
that´s seems to be quite normal for a wine app.

The app needs some time to open, about 5 seconds or so, but that´s still
quicker than starting Parallels.

So again, if there is someone who wants to give it a try, then you´ll find it
here https://dl.qck.nu//?dl=InstaMakerWine.zip

Hope this is of use for the one or the other.

Regards,
Matthias

Who said i am a programmer. Call me software architect and grant me my sleep. ;)

9 hours btw. are not that much. It means sleep, eating, “family business”, body
care and so on

Speaking of body care I remember a colleague in the first company i worked
for. He was a brilliant programmer, he did not sleep much. Sometimes he worked
3 days in a row. His workplace looked like a garbage dump. All over there was
the packaging of Camembert. That was his main food. Camembert, Potato
chips/crisps and Coke. The key caps of his keyboard were nearly black, because
he was also a heavy smoker. And he smelled unpleasant…

That was a warning for me to never ever being like someone like him.

Btw, our boss had not a problem with that all, because firstly the work of that
colleague was brilliant and secondly our boss had his own office room far far
away.

So please let me sleep and smell well. ;)

Re: code signing cost

2018-03-14 Thread Matthias Rebbe via use-livecode
???

Tom,

you pay for a code signing certificate for one year and can use that
certificate then for signing as many windows programs,Dlls and so on as you
want. After that year your signed apps are still working, but you have to renew
your certificate if you want to sign new apps.

And 84USD for a code signing certificate is not much.

Matthias

Thanks to all for your kind words.

@Tom,
> tool...where would it source the certificates? and how much?

I am sorry, i don´t understand the question.
Do you want to know where you can buy the Software Signing Certificate for
Windows?
The cheapest Seller i´ve found is K-Software (http://codesigning.ksoftware.net
<http://codesigning.ksoftware.net/>).
They are selling genuine Comodo products and a Software Signing certificate
cost about 84USD for 1 year. It´ll be even cheaper if you purchase it for 2, 3
or 4 years..
They even provide a very easy tool for CodeSigning for free called kSign. It
has a GUI is really very easy to use. I am using this tool for manually
signing my Windows apps now for about 4 years.

@All
The upcoming code signing option in InstaMaker will only code sign the
Installer, not the programs you´ve created the installer for.
For code signing in InstaMaker Microsofts signtool.exe will be used.

So at the moment the steps for code signing a Windows app and creating a signed
Installer for it would be
1. Sign the Windows app and all externals using kSign.exe or Signtool.exe
Btw: the externals of a LC standalone are write protected for whatever reason.
You´ll have to disable the write protection before code signing. Otherwise the
externals can not signed

2. Create the Installer with InstaMaker

3. Code Sign the Installer.

When InstaMaker has code signing support, then

1. Sign the Windows app and all externals using kSign.exe or Signtool.exe

2. Create an Installer with InstaMaker and sign it automatically.

So you´ll have to code sign your Windows program in any case first if you want
to have your app also be code signed, then you can use InstaMaker to create an
Installer and also code sign that installer after creation.

But as i wrote, i need some spare time for it. But i will come.

Regards,

Matthias

[OT] Free tool for ease Windows Installer creation

2018-03-13 Thread Matthias Rebbe via use-livecode
Hi,

inspired by Monte´s great, but unfortunately not available anymore, tool
InstallGadget, i´ve created a similar tool called InstaMaker.
I very often need to create Installers for my little Windows apps and
InstallGadget was a good friend in the past, but drag´n´drop did not work with
newer Windows versions and other problems appeared. So i decided to built my
own version of such a tool.

On Windows InstaMaker creates Windows Installers (based on the newest version
of InnoSetup). You do not need to install InnoSetup separately. The needed
parts are already included in InstaMaker. On OS X it creates simple DMG files.
Just drag a folder which contains your program into the program window of
InstaMaker or onto the InstaMaker Icon. InstaMaker does the rest for you.

I know there are other tools out there which do the DMG stuff much better, but
i wanted to have a tool available which does exact the same as InstallGadget
did.

InstaMaker for Windows might be a good solution for the one or the other who
wants to create a Windows Installer of a program quick and easy.

I will add code signing support the next weeks or when time allows, so that the
Windows installer will be automatically code signed after creation. For this
you will need a code signing certificate.

InstaMaker is free. You can download it from its website at
https://instamaker.dermattes.de

Regards,

Matthias

Re: tsNet and Digest Authentication - some problems or better said: missing knowledge

2018-03-09 Thread Matthias Rebbe via use-livecode
Hi Charles,
thanks for your answer.

I´ve done as requested.
With tsNetLibUrlReuseConnection set to true
A session cookie is sent from the PABX after the first successful connection.
The 2nd unsuccessful connection shows

"HTTP/1.1 401 Unauthorized
Authentication problem. Ignoring this.”

And the value for nonce is an other then the one in the first connection.

After a restart of LC i set it to false.
The error messages looks similar, but i can see also
"Issue another request to this URL:

Hostname 192.168.1.1 was found in DNS cache”

I´ve uploaded the complete debug files here:

https://dl.qck.nu//?dl=liburl_reuse_false.txt
<https://dl.qck.nu//?dl=liburl_reuse_false.txt>
https://dl.qck.nu//?dl=LIBUURL_resue_true.txt

tsNet and Digest Authentication - some problems or better said: missing knowledge

2018-03-08 Thread Matthias Rebbe via use-livecode
Hi,

i am trying to use the tsNet external to communicate with an Auerswald PABX
which requires digest authentication.

The first connection is always successful using PUT URL …..
The second one isn´t. There is even no value returned.
When i use tsNetClose and tsNetInit before the 2nd connection then the 2nd
connection is successful, because the complete authentication process is
initiated from the beginning.
So this works so far
—>
tsnetClose
tsNetInit
put URL “http:…..”

But how can i use the already established connection?
tsNetLibUrlReuseConnection FALSE does not help.
Is it possible that i have to set the httpheader somehow for the 2nd connection?
I am not very happy to unload and reload the external every time.

I also tried to use tsNetGetSync. The first connection is also always
successful, the 2nd not.

So what am i missing?

Regards,

Matthias

LC 9 DP11 hangs with "Loading Libraries" on Windows 10

2018-02-23 Thread Matthias Rebbe via use-livecode
Hi,

i am using LC 9 DP11 on Mac OSX since its release without any noteworthy
problems.

Today i installed LC 9 DP11 on a Windows 10 Pro 64bit and have the problem that
LC stops loading right after the splash screen pops up and shows the text
"Loading libraries".
With a newly installed LC 8.1.9 i do not see this behavior.

What i´ve tried so far:
- disabled Antivirus / Firewall
- deleted the preferences file
- reinstalled LC9 DP11

All without success.

Does anyone else run into this?

What should i try next?

Regards,
Matthias

Re: LiveCode Widget Factory

2018-02-22 Thread Matthias Rebbe via use-livecode
Todd,
that sounds really promising. Any ideas already if the “to be payed” widgets
are offered as a yearly subscription or for a time payment?

Widget request: A widget that allows to place an icon (including menu function)
into the menu bar on Mac OSX or into the task bar on the right (don´t know the
exact expression in english for that area) on Windows
I know LC already allows this on Windows, but a widget which supports both OSes
would be better. So one has to code it once for both instead of coding it for
each OS seperately.

Regards,
Matthias

Re: Livecode.com server down

me, too.

I did not see anything offending in Heather´s post.

But maybe this is because english is not my native language and therefore i
might be not so sensitive to some expressions. ;)

Thanks Brian for this information.

Btw, the German website of Amazon is also giving it away for free

Re: Pasting tabs into Excel

2018-02-02 Thread Matthias Rebbe via use-livecode
Hi,

i cannot reproduce that here on Mac OS X and Excel 2016 (V 15.30).
I executed your sample code in the messagebox and was able to paste
successfully the clipboard to Excel.
I even tried with alpha numeric values.

But what i noticed is the following:
When i just click on a cell, so that it is selected without showing the
blinking write cursor in the cell, then pasting is working w/o problems.

When i double click a cell, so that it is selected and the blinking write
cursor is shown, then i cannot paste it correctly.

Tried with LC 8.19RC2 and LC9DP11.

Will try on Windows later this day.

Regards,
Matthias
