Hi Joel,

I quickly read it. It's cronological and you split borngifted story . So I
indeed moved your story to the end.

I just notices some typos

Demo (which I recommend you set this up in a non development place.
An alone parenthese, I removed it

there is a ofbiz.xml that lays out what is where for that component and you
can use that to add additional demo or seed data.
I replaced ofbiz.xml by ofbiz-component.xml file

These detail what OFBiz expects and where.
details ;)

Thanks, feel free to re-read and fix my changes if necessary

Regarding mentioned ticket in the subject (reported by - Hoan Dang Van). I
have shared some findings which tells either the flow is implemented in

If community agree then we can close the ticket and if agree on enhancement

 Hi All

I'd like to suggest that we implement a policy that all project
 contributors
of ideas, code and documentation (so this includes people updating the

to have signed Individual Contributor Licence Agreements (ICLA)

 *What it means?*
Signing an ICLA means that you understand that what you have contributed
 (or
want to contribute) is subject to the Apache Licence and that you are happy
 to do this.

The ICLA is not tied to any employer you may have.

Details of the Apache Licences and Contributor Licence Agreements can be

The future process could be as follows:

 1. Anyone requesting to become a contributor will need to have completed an
 ICLA
 2. We will check the official list of filed ICLAs before granting
contributor permissions (e.g. on the wiki)

If the community is happy to implement this policy then I will

 1. Take a look at our current list of wiki contributors and see if any do
not have an ICLA on file
 2. Contact them with the details of how to file one

Re: APACHECON US 2015

2014-11-24 Thread Sharan-F
Hi Everyone

As Pierre mentioned the dates for Apachecon NA 2015 have been announced and
they are now calling for conference presentations (CFP) from all Apache
projects.

As we filled a full track in Budapest last week, we may be given the
opportunity to fill a complete track in Apachecon NA too.

One key thing for filling a track is that we try to fully represent our
project. This means that we try to get presentations covering a range of
topics.

Off the top of my head – I'm thinking some topic categories could be
something like:

-*Introduction* (e.g. to ofbiz in general or a specific application, the
framework and services)
-*Business* (e.g. how OFBiz is being used and which industries, etc)
 -*Technical* (e.g. Tools, Extentions, Configuration)
-*Development* (e.g. getting started, building a new application,
modifiying an existing one,)
-*Case Study/User Story* (e.g. implementation story, challenges and
successes etc)
-*Panel Discussion* (e.g. Open source ERP vs Commercial etc)
-*Tutorial* (Remember that Tutorials tend to cost extra!)

What do people think? Are there any other categories or topics that the
community or people wanting to attend Apachecon NA would like to see
included in an OFBiz track?

Also if you have already submitted an OFBiz presentation for Apachecon NA
then please let me know either via this thread or by filling in the details
on the Wiki Page that Pierre has created. It just means that we can keep
track of the type of presentation it will be as I want to make sure that we
can cover all our topics and categories.

Thanks
Sharan

Hi all,

I hope it's not too late to share a couple of thoughts.

There isn't much to add to what already written by my conference mates, but
there is one thing I would really like to share. It is about how warmly
and nicely I was welcomed by the OFBiz group as a newcomer.

They are all skilled, enthusiastic and dedicated professionals and I'm sure
they are only a representative sample of the brilliant community that
supports OFBiz.

It didn't take long to me (and I think also to the others) to understand
that together, as a group, we were much more than each of us alone. I was
the last to present on Monday and when, at the end, I saw Sharan, Pierre,
Jacopo, Olivier, Gil, Nicholas and Youssef still there with me, after all
the other people had left the room, I felt how rewarding and reassuring is
to be part of a 'community'.

I think that OFBiz is a great project and has the potential to be even
more successful than it is right now. If I were David Jones, I would be
really proud to be the one who gave rise to all this!

Kind regards

Anahita

P.S. I will shortly attach the code illustrated in my presentation to the

 Hi All

See below for my thoughts and feedback on Apachecon last week. It was an
amazing experience to see so many people that are involved with Apache as
well as OFBiz in one place.

Monday (the OFBiz track day) was the very intense. In the morning most of
 us
met each other face to face for the first very time and straightaway we
found that we could sit down and start discussions on a range of topics.
 As
the only native English speaker I must admit that I was impressed by
 everyone's language ability!

My presentation was the first (so I was a bit aprehensive) but like all the
presentations that day – raised questions for discussion.

I think one of the most surprising things that came out of my presentation
was that the host of the talk (a committer from the FreeBSD project) spoke
to us about the problems he had as a potential new user trying to download,
setup and use OFBiz. We would have probably never got this feedback if he
hadnt been assigned to host our talk.

Just for information - here are the attendance stats.

 - I think my talk attracted 8 people
 - Pierre's talk attracted 11 people
 - Jacopo's talk attracted 11 people
 - Olivier's talk attracted 16 people
 - Nicolas and Gil's talk attracted 11 people
 - Anahita's talk attracted 27 people

On Tuesday we attended some other tracks and I hosted the talk for
 committer
on the Tomcat project (so someone good to know). I also went to see a talk
on Trademarks and Branding so this is as task that I'd like to do a bit
 more
about just to make sure that the OFBiz brand is not being misrepresented.

On Wednesday afternoon we all decided to hold a bit of a workshop to talk
about OFBiz and what our ideas are now and for the future. It was really
interesting to hear everyone's vision of the project and how they wanted it
to be. We identified a range of areas and some proposals that we'd like to
consult the community about. I am in the process of writing up the minutes
and summarising the range of proposals that came out of that meeting so
 will
share that with the mailing list via a different thread.

On Thursday a lot of us attended the Barcamp which was a specific forum for
asking questions and getting feedback from other Apache projects. Any topic
could be raised and we had some great discussions around How Apache works,
Git vs SVN, PMC roles, Updating other people's code without offending them,
 etc.

It was a very busy week and I think I can speak for everyone when I say
 that
we also had a lot of fun too.

Looking forward to the next one!

Re: APACHECON US 2015

2014-11-24 Thread Pierre Smits
The suggestion to assemble a list of interests, people willing to hold a
talk on a specific subject. If and when there is plenty of interest,
categorize and sort out overlapping talks to get a coverage of as much
aspects of OFBiz as possible.
It can also be so, that people might be interested in creating a talk, but
aren't in the position to hold the talk schedule wise. In that case, we
have the opportunity to find someone who could take care of that.

We have to keep in mind that slots per track are limited (at ApacheCon EU
2014 the OFBiz track was limited to 6 talks). If there are more talks than
the limit allows we have to filter. But we could also think about having
some kind of booth where we can circle around as info providers, etc.

People interested in seeing talks held regarding a specific topic could
propose those as a comment to the page.

That way we can (and will) get an idea about what people want to have talks
about versus what people can talk about. When gaps appear we can
investigate further what we can do.

Pierre Smits

talks) about OFBiz. In order to promote and to investigate willingness to
present I have created the following wiki page for contributors to list
 the
 talk they could/would do:
 https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/OFBIZ/

  Hi All

We've been having a busy week at Apachecon in Budapest and I'm sure that
 the
people that attended will be posting their updates about it soon.

I just wanted to let the community mailing list know that I think the
 OFBiz
track was a success (our biggest session was Anahita's where 27 people
 came
 along!)

As well as running our own track, meeting each other for the first time,
attending some other sessions, we found some time to hold a round table
session to talk about some project related topics. I will be summarising
 our
discussions and post these here - I think we have some great potential
proposals that we'd like to consult the community about.

 More news coming soon!

 Thanks
 Sharan

Jacopo,

Sure, I'll test this new patch and let you know the results once it's done.

It would be great if you could test this improved version of the patch that I
sent you: it internally uses the EXTRACT function that should be a standard
function since SQL-99.

Thanks,

Jacopo

 Dear Jacopo,

Thanks so much for your kind help, the solution works perfectly as it is
exactly what I wanted ! Now I can summary the total in the dimensions I
want, i.e. MONTH and YEAR. Thanks so much again, and I also think it is
helpful to commit these two added functions to public trunk in case others
 have similar requirements like mine.
