[libreoffice-users] Re: Base odb Forms are read only
Le 15/05/11 20:39, Tom Davies a écrit : Hi Tom, The original question still hasn't been answered, i think. The question was something about, why the save button was greyed-out after entering data, or how to deal with it when it's like that. Well I think I said that the problem experienced by the user was due to the fact that they were using Ubuntu LibreOffice packages and those packages have that known problem that (1) toolbars are not displayed correctly and (2) this cause Base to appear not to accept data entry in forms. So the solution is to use the official LibreOffice downloads, or try and get Ubuntu to release a fixed, updated set of packages. Thanks everybody. Jean: I'll expand upon my previous answer. Don't use Left Page/Right Page if the only difference is that margins are mirrored and the info in headers and/or footers is different. Use a mirrored page style instead. Then the lefts and rights will take care of themselves when they follow a first page style. You can set the First Page style to be left and right (it defaults to right only). Thanks Jean. Who would have thought it was so simple! That's exactly what I was looking for. snip ... /snip Krackedpress: Well, LibreOffice can certainly save the work in Word .doc or Adobe .pdf file formats. Jay: I have to sometimes submit MS Word format to people and what I do is save the document as both DOC and ODT. I use ODT as the primary and save to DOC when I need to submit it. A few people actually know I am not using Word but LO because they know my primary OS is Linux and they have never reported a problem. I assumed that outputting to .doc is not without its problems, especially if your document contains complicated tables. I've had all kinds of problems importing Word into LibreOffice, and I assumed it would be the same the other way around. Rik solved Hi :) I think that there tends to be a lot less trouble converting the other way around, ie from odt to doc or from ods to xls. There are still a few differences sometimes i would guess that tables are one of the areas to expect a little hassle with. So, Jean's answer seems best for this case. [libreoffice-users] Autocorrect recognising URL when there is none
Greetings! I'm using Beta5 of 3.4, and have identified an irritating bug. When URL Recognition is turned on in the Autocorrect options, (using English-UK language), LibreOffice writer randomly makes URLs out of what I'm type. Not sure why PS: LibreOffice can sure do with an easy way to submit bug reports - perhaps something in the Help menu that automatically provides feedback... finding this forum takes quite a bit of effort - as does finding the bugzilla. [libreoffice-users] Re: Autocorrect recognising URL when there is none
Hi Manfred, Ha - missed that. I had searched bugzilla for URL and AutoCorrect to no avail. Silly me - should have also tried hyperlink. Thanks for the links to the wiki - didn't know about those pages. But I think my point still stands. I've been active in the Free Software world for quite some time, and so know a fair bit about bug reporting etc. BUT to actually find the information you point to *should* be easier for users. A lot of people will encounter a bug, go to the LibreOffice website, fail to find a link to provide product feedback and give up -- View this message in context: http://nabble.documentfoundation.org/Autocorrect-recognising-URL-when-there-is-none-tp2946995p2947170.html Sent from the Users mailing list archive at Nabble.com. -- Unsubscribe instructions: E-mail to users+h...@libreoffice.org Posting guidelines + more: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/www/users/ All messages sent to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted
[libreoffice-users] An Invitation to Neuroscientists and Physicists: Singapore Citizen Mr. Teo En Ming (Zhang Enming) Reports First Hand Account of Mind Intrusion and Mind Reading
16 May 2011 Monday 7:28 P.M. Singapore Time For Immediate Release SINGAPORE, SINGAPORE - Singapore Citizen Mr. Teo En Ming (Zhang Enming) would like to report first hand account of mind intrusion and mind reading. I have been hearing voices for quite some time now but I have not been able to identify the persons physically. A number of un-identified persons have intruded into my mind and they are able to read my thoughts. I could not explain the mechanism by which these un-identified persons have been reading my mind at the moment but there is definitely a scientific explanation for it. I know very clearly that I am not suffering from schizophrenia at all. I am fully aware that no common man would believe me except the select few scientific researchers working in top secret government projects and the human guinea pigs who are being experimented on. One of the possibilities is that I have a microchip implanted into my brain, possibly when I was an infant. It may take a few years, a few decades, or even a few centuries before mind reading is finally brought to light before the general public. I would like to invite neuroscientists, engineers and physicists to speak on the scientific explanation behind mind intrusion and mind reading. Please remember what Singapore Citizen Mr. Teo En Ming (Zhang Enming) have said. Mark my words. You will know the truth in future. It is no longer a conspiracy theory. I can affirm that it (mind intrusion and mind reading) is indeed happening to me. The locking is done automatically by the software, so that two users cannot work together on the same file and one overwriting the changes of the other. To unlock change first the setting within nautilus to show the hidden files. Then go into the same directory, where your file is and you'll see there a file with a similar name that ends in .lck. Delete this file and you can edit your original file again as before. I believe, this will help. [libreoffice-users] Words with outline
Hi. I often get .doc files with a text style with a boarder. This is a word or few words in a box. The .doc opens in LO without the border around the words. Is this a feature request or a bug to get import correct. LO has a paragraph style with a border but that style cannot be applied to just a few words in a sentence. Is there a way to apply this outline to some text in LO. steve -- Unsubscribe instructions: E-mail to users+h...@libreoffice.org Posting guidelines + more: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/www/users/ All messages sent to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted
[libreoffice-users] Graphic layout compatibility opening .doc
I have noticed a problem with compatibility opening some .doc and .docx files with graphics (bitmap and other). I have not used word since word 6 for dos, so am making some assumptions here. Word allows a graphic to be larger than the page dimensions and allows you to mask of the areas you don't want (like placing a window over the graphic so you only see one region, not really cropping as the graphic is unchanged. Wordpro did the same. When you import the .doc[x] LO removes the mask and shrinks the graphic to fit the page. I have some examples, is it a bug or outside the capabilities of LO and hence a feature request. Definitely required for compatibility. And for a bit of a comparison, google docs totally screws the .doc up.
[libreoffice-users] Custom Properties
Hi, I am using LibreOffice 3.3.2 on Ubuntu 10.04. I am creating doc using writer. I am creating some custom properties in that. All custom properties are preserved when doc is saved in .odt format. But when I saved same doc with .doc extension, close and re-open all the custom properties are gone. Can any one tell me the reason. I was working fine in Openoffice 3.2.0.
