[libreoffice-users] How to create a new _predefined_ Impress layout
I'm asking my question again. Hopefully I have included sufficient information that my query is easier to understand this time What I am looking for is how to create a new _predefined_ Impress layout. Note: I am _not_ asking about templates. They are a different matter. I already use templates. Explanation: If you open a new blank presentation in Impress, on the right side is a sidebar entitled Tasks. This then has 5 menus: Master Pages Layouts Table Design Custom Animation Slide Transition The second item, Layouts has 12 predefined layouts which one can select. I would like to create some _different_ layouts which I want to use many times. Therefore, I would like to add these new layouts, which I wish to create, to the 12 existing predefined layouts. This will allow me to select them with a single click, rather than manually define them every time I want to use them. I see the layouts are somehow included in the master pages. [libreoffice-users] Where to report a bug with Tamil text rendering in LibreOffice?
I am using LibreOffice 3.3.3 on Kubuntu Natty and 3.4.2 on Windows XP. On both installations I observe the following bug: In Tamil, vowelless consonants are considered independent grapheme clusters on their own as they do not ligate with following consonants unlike other Indic scripts. (The only exception is க் ligating with ஷ to form க்ஷ.) Take for example the Tamil word சித்திரை (name of a month). The grapheme cluster split-out is: சி|த்|தி|ரை and not சி|த்தி|ரை. However, when my cursor is to the left of த் and I press the right-cursor key, the cursor moves to the right of தி, and vice versa with left-cursor key. Obviously LibreOffice considers த்தி as a single cluster. Other applications (like for example Thunderbird which I am using to compose this mail) correctly treat த் and தி as separate grapheme clusters. Re: [libreoffice-users] Selecting record range in mail merge.
Hi, I don't know if this might help anyone or not. I had an OpenOffice form problem using the table template with a standard 30 label sheet (3 x 10). I have all of our Christmas card addresses in an OpenOffice database. I have the form setup, etc, to automatically pull the address information in when I click print and select the database, etc. It works great with one exception. Last year my wife said I missed having a few addresses included. I didn't think anything about it, and honestly, didn't think that was possible. This year before giving her the printed labels I thought I would check that everyone was there. I set the printing so it is sorting to print A_Z based on the last name. It takes three sheets. I have 78 names in the database, but only had 76 printed labels. What happened was when the printing went from the first sheet to the second sheet, it misses one record. The rest of the second page is fine. When I went from the second sheet to the third sheet, once again, it skipped the next label, then printed fine for the balance. When I say it skipped it, the missing record just disappears. It isn't that I end up with a blank label at the top of the sheet. The next one in line to be printed on the first label on Page 2 vanishes and the one that should be the second one on the second page becomes the first one on the second page. The same with the third page. A person would never pick this up unless checking the database against the printed labels. The solution I had one full page of labels with the fields in. I read on-line that you need one complete page with fields in for each page of labels. So I added two more pages so I have a three page template. When I created Pages 2 and 3 and by pasting the complete page 1, then scrolled up, I found there was a blank page between each label page. I deleted those pages, and I now have a perfectly working label template printing all of the address! Don On 08/22/2011 06:28 AM, Tom Davies wrote: Hi :) It's a fence-post error (i think). [libreoffice-users] LibreOffice crawling on converted .doc file
I had a couple of hundred e-mail messages in Outlook 2007 (on Win XP Pro) that I needed to export, so they ended up as an Adobe Acrobat Portfolio (a couple of hundred individual PDFs within some sort of PDF-ish wrapper). I then used a function in Acrobat Pro to mush them all into one, and finally exported that one big document as a .doc file. With MS Word 2007, I can quickly open the file and then scroll around it as needed. With LibreOffice Writer (3.4.1), the file takes a while to open, and then every operation is agonizingly slow. Scrolling takes place as one screen-full jump every 2-to-3 seconds, and attempting to scroll some distance gets cached and then slowly enacted over the next minute or so. It's unusable. I have other files that I've created in LO or in Word, that work fine in LO, including some 100+ page documents. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I could do to make this document behave in LO? OR is there a different path to get from 200+ Outlook messages to a single, scrollable, searchable .doc or .odt file (with formatting and highlighting preserved)? Thank you. /kevin -- For unsubscribe instructions e-mail to: users+h...@global.libreoffice.org Problems? http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/users/ All messages sent to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted

Re: [libreoffice-users] Selecting record range in mail merge.
The same bug I suspect. What makes me fairly sure its a bug is that if you select a single record, say 50 to 50, a page prints but no data. This is also inconsistent with printing, if you select to print pages 5-7 you get pages 5,6,7 and not 5,6. steve On 23/08/11 1:44 AM, Don C. [libreoffice-users] Re: How do I delete unwanted Extensions?
I believe the Mac uses the system dictionaries, the system languages and the system spell checker. You don't need two versions, so why do you need a choice? Extensions and Templates are different as they are unique to LibreO. Whoever produces the Mac version doesn't think a choice is needed, otherwise he would have included the option. I certainly do not feel I am missing anything. Re: [libreoffice-users] Kexi
I have been looking at Kexi as well. As I understand it, Kexi currently offers read-only access to DBs not actually created from within Kexi. If you have already created a database, you will not have write access to that DB. That said, if you create the DB from within Kexi, you can use it more or less as a front-end. I haven't tried it yet on my Debian-KDE box, but I may do just that. I think Calligra is going to be worth watching. I have used Base and learned a fair amount in the process. Based on the number of postings about Base here on the list, I certainly hope it gets more attention. I would offer to jump in, but I honestly can't code my way out of a wet paper bag. :-( I have used OOo/LO for several years now, but mind you, I am supportive of most libre projects. Unfortunately Calligra and KOffice are really quite dependant on the K Desktop Environment (KDE). They do have a port for Windows (and possibly Mac, i'm not sure). Calligra have also developed a few apps that can work on mobile platforms but that doesn't include Kexi yet. So, the non-KDE versions of distros are going to ask for a lot of dependencies, probably Qt libraries and stuff. You will probably need to add the appropriate official repos. For Ubuntu you can try sudo apt-get install kubuntu-desktop to install all of Kubuntu into Ubuntu but you might want to revert to your Gnome or Unity DE at the login prompt (have a look along the bottom task-bar/panel when you get the login prompt). A few people are now working on Base. A couple of devs and i think 1 for documentation (might be 2). It is a tough challenge but that makes it fun right? Just updated LO so noted my solution. [libreoffice-users] Re: There was a problem connecting to the server servername
I solved it the old fashioned way, but before that it got worse. I started having the same issue with LibreOffice documents that hadn't been opened at all within the past month. Therefore, I deleted the application, support files and preferences and reinstalled. The problem went away. I'm reasonably sure that this issue was created by migrating all my system information from one Mac to another new Mac using Apple's Migration Assistant. Re: [libreoffice-users] Macro to select for example 10 cells down (and/or right) current cell
I believe that AndrewMacro.odt contains an example of selecting cells. If you desire to do so based on the current cursor, I would do something like the following: 1. Get the Active Cell. 2. Use the method of your choice to get a cell range that includes the active cell and then the next 10 cells down. 3. User the current controller to select the cells. Is this a sufficient hint, or do you require more details (it would take me time to figure out the details, but, if you can get the cell range based on the rows and columns, that is probably the easiest way). Re: [libreoffice-users] Moving macro from standard library
On 08/17/2011 11:59 AM, S. McKay wrote: Hi, This seems to be a stupid question, but I have some macros in the standard library that I need to make available to other people. I put them in standard, because at the time OpenOffice would not run them unless they were. I don't know if that's still true with LibreOffice. However, I would like to move them to another library so that I can export them. I created another library and tried the simplest approach: copy and paste. That just confused LibreOffice, though. The macros wouldn't show up in the list, and when I deleted them from the new library, LO thought they should be there (even though it acted like they didn't exist). Then, I tried to move them via organizer. I clicked and dragged the macro to the other library and then LO crashed. (I am using 3.4.2). How do I move them to the new library and get LO to recognize they are there? Thanks, S. McKay I can think of a few ways. 1. Manually copy and paste each module as text. Unless I had say more than 5 modules, I would do this. 2. While LO is not running, copy the directory containing the standard library to a new directory, then modify the XML file that references the library to reference it. I can think of more, but that is probably enough for now. -- Andrew Pitonyak My Macro Document: http://www.pitonyak.org/AndrewMacro.odt Info: http://www.pitonyak.org/oo.php -- For unsubscribe instructions e-mail to: users+h...@global.libreoffice.org Problems? http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/users/ All messages sent to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted
