[libreoffice-users] LibreOffice problems
Dear Janit 1. Look at this Pivot Table. On loading you will find the 'LOGGED ON MONTH' starts from Jun-11. Select Request typr as 'Incident' and the date starts from June-13 again select 'Service Request' and the date again starts from June-13. Where has June-11 gone. Reselecting both options, now results in June-13 instead of start from June-11. Something wrong with macros in pivot table. 2. Filter by color coption in LibreCacl not available 3. Print Quality ( MS Vs Libre Office ) - lighter prints 4. Default Header and Footer in Calc cannot be suppressed 5. Not all complex macros of Excel are recognized by Calc and vice versa However same function can be done by re-writing in Calc. 6. Print 'Current selection' page – not supported. You have to write the page number to be printed. Pl. provide some workaround or solution asap. Thanks and Regards - Er. Shirish M Bhatt Dy. The only time I get duplicate messages is when a sender hits reply all in the email box, as I have done here. This list requires that behavior in order to send a reply to the list rather than only the original sender. So, you should get two copies of this email. However, I've never had to wait 2-3 days for the second copy. It usually comes within minutes of the first message. Re: [libreoffice-users] Label Printing in LO Writer {SOLVED]
Thanks to all for the input - appreciated!! Pedro contacted me directly and has put me right and I now have it working 100%. He picked up my error and said The trick is that the 'Pitch' means the label width PLUS any following space whereas I was putting in only the gap between the labels, (which was zero). As I said once you get this right it works perfectly!! I still think the Titles of the fields could be improved as could the help file - which could also use a better graphic to illustrate the values. I agree that Scribus is an overkill but it was - at the time - my only other option. I tried using tables in LO but getting everything lined-up correctly was a nightmare!! In the end though it would work. Thanks to all - The Forum never ceases to amaze me!!! I ALWAYS got m2 as superscript, even I selected only 2 and then format - superscript. (after I while of trying I gave up and replaced those number manually) What is the trick required to turn 2 into superscript? But ONLY in m2 and not all 2, since there were lots of other numbers too. I think this is simple: open character map in windows (you're in Windows, aren't you?), copy the superscript two in the clipboard Go to Writer, Search and replace, put search m2 and replace m(paste the superscript after the m), then command replace/replace all. For me (Mozilla SeaMonkey), that's set to Courier New for Western or Unicode text. However, the Content-Type headers of Andrew's email and your reply indicate a Japanese character set is used, for which my client is set to use MS Gothic. I guess you're seeing something similar - MS Gothic does appear a bit more difficult to read for Western text, but presumably it includes Japanese characters while Courier New doesn't. Mark. Well, it sure does not display in plain text. There is no formatting in the email - there is only plain text, no HTML or other formatted part. It does display in plain text, but using a different font because the headers indicate that a Japanese character set is used. My display default in Thunderbird is Times Roman. Presumably that's so for text in Western character sets. I'm not sure where the fonts are set in Thunderbird, but in SeaMonkey it's under: Edit Preferences Appearance Fonts There you can set the fonts used for Serif, Sans Serif, Monospace, etc. However, by default it shows the fonts used for those things for text in on particular character set (Western in my case). Selecting a different character set from the Fonts for dropdown list shows (and allows changing of) the fonts to be used for text in that character set. You'll probably find that selecting Japanese there shows a different set of fonts, other than Times Roman. The first image shows me the font that is unreadable The second one shows my normal/default Times display. Indeed, I see similar results with those emails, but with MS Gothic for Andrew's and Courier New usually. But it's nothing to do with any fonts the sender has set in the email, only those set in your Thunderbird for the different character sets. I created a simple (text-only plus background) six-slide presentation with all but the first slide set to automatically advance after just a few seconds. The slide show works when I preview it. But, exporting it to SWF creates a file of just 20kb. I'm pretty sure that can't be a valid Flash file. And, none of my video players (VLC, Dragon, XINE) will play it. Flash is not just a video format but also includes scripting. It's designed for embedding in web pages, and although it can be used to show videos on a web page, I'm not sure that dedicated video applications would necessarily play it. Have you tried opening the Flash file in a web browser? Do VLC, Dragon and XINE play any other Flash videos? I've just done a quick test (LibreOffice 4.0.4.2 on Windows Vista) with 3 text-only slides, exported to SWF (file is 1kB, so 20kB certainly could be valid): - Opening the .swf in Mozilla SeaMonkey (web browser) works, but doesn't seem to do the automatic transitions - need to click to advance through slides. - VLC does not open this file. As far as I can see VLC should be able to play Flash Video files, which have a .flv extension and are not the same as .swf (e.g. .flv doesn't appear to include the scripting capabilities of .swf). - I'm not familiar with Dragon, and think XINE is Linux-only, but suspect they probably just don't play .swf either. Re: [libreoffice-users] False Positive?
I would recommend emailing Norton and AVG and saying lower their threshold. These false positives can come with stable releases as well and they aren't our fault. These programs set these stupid system thresholds to determine if something is malicious and then we get blamed. There are several bug reports on FDO (our bug tracker) related to this over the last few months and all have been closed as INVALID. If enough people email Norton saying hey we pay for this stuff and yet we get these false positives maybe they'll do something to make their algorithm a bit smarter. It's perhaps worth mentioning that you cannot insert section breaks: there is no such thing in LibreOffice. What Microsoft Word calls its sections are indeed actually section breaks, so you would need to insert two sections in Word to achieve the 1-2-1 arrangement of columns as implied here. But a section in LibreOffice Writer is what it says it is: a section, not a section break. So to achieve a 1-2-1 arrangement you make one insertion of a two-column section within an otherwise single-column document: you don't break again.
